Heterointerface engineering of rhombic Rh nanosheets confined on MXene for efficient methanol oxidation

Although metallic rhodium(Rh)is regarded as a promising platinum-alternative anode catalyst of direct methanol fuel cell(DMFC),the conventional"particle-to-face"contact model between Rh and matrix largely limits the overall electrocatalytic performance due to their insufficient cooperative ***,we report a controllable and robust heterointerface engineering strategy for the bottom-up fabrication of rhombic Rh nanosheets in situ confined on Ti_3C_(2)T_x MXene nanolamellas(Rh NS/MXene)via a convenient stereoassembly *** unique design concept gives the resulting 2D/2D Rh NS/MXene heterostructure intriguing textural features,including large accessible surface areas,strong"face-toface"interfacial interactions,homogeneous Rh nanosheet distribution,ameliorative electronic structure,and high electronic *** a consequence,the as-prepared Rh NS/MXene nanoarchitectures exhibit exceptional electrocatalytic methanol oxidation properties in terms of a large electrochemically active surface area of 126.2 m~2 g_(Rh)~(-1),a high mass activity of 1056.9 mA mg_(Rh)-~1,and a long service life,which significantly outperform those of conventional particle-shaped Rh catalysts supported by carbon black,carbon nanotubes,reduced graphene oxide,and MXene matrixes as well as the commercial Pt nanoparticle/carbon black and Pd nanoparticle/carbon black catalysts with the same noble metal loading *** functional theory calculations further demonstrate that the direct electronic interaction at the well-contacted 2D/2D heterointerfaces effectively enhances the adsorption energy of Rh nanosheets and induces a left shift of the d-band center,thereby making the Rh NS/MXene configuration suffer less from CO *** work highlights the importance of rational heterointerface design in the construction of advanced noble metal/MXene electrocatalysts,which may provide new avenues for developing the next-generation DMFC devices.

Evolution of Biofilm and Its Effect on Microstructure of Mortar Surfaces in Simulated Seawater

To explore the role of biofilm formation on the corrosion of marine concrete structures, we investigated the attachment of biofilm on mortar surfaces in simulated seawater and the influence of biofilm on the microstructure of mortar surfaces. The results show that the evolution of biofilm on mortar surfaces in simulated seawater is closely related to the corrosion suffered by the mortar, and the process of biofilm attachment and shedding is continuous and cyclical. It is found that the specimens in the absence of biofilm attachment are more severely eroded internally by the corrosive medium in simulated seawater than those in the presence of biofilm attachment. For the specimens without biofilm attachment, after 60 days, gypsum forms,and after 120 days, the number of pores in the mortar is reduced. In contrast, for the specimens in the presence of biofilm attachment, gypsum could only be detected after 90 days, and fewer pores are filled. Therefore, the formation of biofilm could delay the invasion of the corrosive medium into the interior of mortar during the evolution of biofilm on mortar surfaces, mitigating the corrosion of mortars in seawater.

Osteosarcoma is a very serious primary bone cancer with a high death rate and a dismal *** there is no permanent therapy for this condition,it is necessary to develop a ***,this investigation was carried out to assess the impacts and biological functions of hydroxysafflor yellow A(HYSA)in osteosarcoma cell lines(MG63).In this investigational study,MG63 cells were *** experiments,quantitative polymerase chain reaction(qPCR),immunofluorescent staining,extracellular acidification rate(ECAR),oxygen consumption rate(OCR),glucose consumption,lactate production,and ATP levels,proliferation assay,5-Ethynyl-2′-deoxyuridine(EDU)staining,and Western blot were *** MG63 cells,HYSA lowered cell proliferation and metastasis rates,suppressed EDU cell number,and enhanced caspase-3/9 activity *** reduced the Warburg effect and induced ferroptosis(FPT)in MG63 *** ferroptosis diminished HYSA’s anti-cancer activities in MG63 *** stimulation of the HIF-1α/SLC7A11 pathway decreased HYSA’s anti-cancer activities in MG63 ***-1αis one target spot for HYSA in a model of osteosarcoma cancer(OC).HYSA altered HIF-1α’s thermophoretic activity;following binding with HYSA,HIF-1α’s melting point increased from~55°C to~60°*** significantly enhanced the thermal stability of exogenous WT HIF-1αwhile not affecting Mut HIF-1α,suggesting that ARG-311,GLY-312,GLN-347,and GLN-387 may be involved in the interaction between HIF-1αand ***,our study revealed that HYSA induced FPT and reduced the Warburg effect of OC through mitochondrial damage by HIF-1α/HK2/SLC7A11 *** is a possible therapeutic option for OC or other cancers.

ObjectiveTo explore the regulatory effect of Pien Tze Huang (PZH) on targeting partner of NOB1 (PNO1) and it’s down-stream mediators in colorectal cancer (CRC) *** polymerase chain reaction was performed to determine mRNA levels of PNO1, TP53, and CDKN1A. Western blotting was performed to determine protein levels of PNO1, p53, and p21. HCT-8 cells were transduced with a lentivirus over-expressing PNO1. Colony formation assay was used to detect cell survival in PNO1 overexpression of HCT-8 cells after PZH treatment. Cell-cycle distribution, cell viability and cell apoptosis were performed to identify the effect of PNO1 overexpression on cell proliferation and apoptosis of HCT-8 cells after PZH treatment. Xenograft BALB/c nude mice bearing HCT116 cells transduced with sh-PNO1 or sh-Ctrl lentivirus were evaluated. Western blot assay was performed to detect PNO1, p53, p21 and PCNA expression in tumor sections. Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase dUTP nick end labling (TUNEL) assay was used to determine the apoptotic cells in *** treatment decreased cell viability, down-regulated PNO1 expression, and up-regulated p53 and p21 expressions in HCT-8 cells (P<0.05). PNO1 overexpression attenuated the effects of PZH treatment, including the expression of p53 and p21, cell growth, cell viability, cell cycle arrest and cell apoptosis in vitro (P<0.05). PNO1 knockdown eliminated the effects of PZH treatment on tumor growth, inhibiting cell proliferation inhibition and apoptosis induction in vivo (P<0.05). Similarly, PNO1 knockdown attenuated the effects of PZH treatment on the down-regulation of PNO1 and up-regulation of p53 and p21 in vivo (P<0.05).ConclusionThe mechanism by which PZH induces its CRC anti-proliferative effect is at least in part by regulating the expression of PNO1 and its downstream targets p53 and p21.

Machine learning-based radiomics score improves prognostic prediction accuracy of stage II/III gastric cancer: A multi-cohort study

BACKGROUND Although accurately evaluating the overall survival(OS)of gastric cancer patients remains difficult,radiomics is considered an important option for studying *** To develop a robust and unbiased biomarker for predicting OS using machine learning and computed tomography(CT)image *** This study included 181 stage II/III gastric cancer patients,141 from Lichuan People's Hospital,and 40 from the Cancer Imaging Archive(TCIA).Primary tumors in the preoperative unenhanced CT images were outlined as regions of interest(ROI),and approximately 1700 radiomics features were extracted from each *** skeletal muscle index(SMI)and skeletal muscle density(SMD)were measured using CT images from the lower margin of the third lumbar *** the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression with 5-fold cross-validation,36 radiomics features were identified as important predictors,and the OS-associated CT image radiomics score(OACRS)was cal-culated for each patient using these important *** Patients with a high OACRS had a poorer prognosis than those with a low OACRS score(P<0.05)and those in the TCIA *** and multivariate analyses revealed that OACRS was a risk factor[RR=3.023(1.896-4.365),P<0.001]independent of SMI,SMD,and pathological ***,OACRS outperformed SMI and SMD and could improve OS prediction(P<0.05).CONCLUSION A novel biomarker based on machine learning and radiomics was developed that exhibited exceptional OS discrimination potential.

Rare earth inorganic-organic hybrid compounds based on Keggin-type polyoxometalate {SiW_(12)} with fast-responsive photochromism and switchable luminescence properties

Four rare earth inorganic-organic hybrid compounds based on Keggin-type polyoxometalate {SiW_(12)}with general formula [{RE(DMF)_(4)(H_(2)O)_4RE(DMF)_(6)}_(2){SiW_(12)O_(40)}_(3)](RE = La(1),Pr(2),Sm(3),Eu(4),DMF=N,N-dimethylformamide) were synthesized by the conventional solution *** analyses indicate that four compounds are isostructural and are all built from three [SiW_(12)O_(40)]^(4-) polyoxoanions and DMF ligands linked by RE^(3+).Compounds 1-4 are extremely sensitive to UV light and present excellent photochromic properties,in which the coloring and fading time of samples are both no more than 2 min,and the reversible coloring-fading process can be repeated for at least 10 cycles with little fatigue,suggesting that compounds 1-4 can be a series of fast-responsive and durable photochromic ***,the solid-state photoluminescence spectra of compounds 3(Sm) and 4(Eu)display strong characteristic emissions of rare earth ions based on f-f ***,compound4(Eu) has a longer fluorescence lifetime up to 566.74 μ***,co mpounds 3(Sm) and 4(Eu) exhibit the switchable luminescence behavior induced by photochromism,which allows them to be used as potential molecular switches.

With the rapid development of large-scale development of marginal oilfields in China,simple wellhead platforms that are simple in structure and easy to install have become an inevitable choice in the process of oilfield ***,traditional simple wellhead platforms are often discarded after a single *** pursuit of a more costeffective approach to developing marginal oilfields,this paper proposes a new offshore oil field development facility—an integrated bucket foundation for wellhead *** verify the safety of its towing behavior and obtain the dynamic response characteristics of the structure,this paper takes a bucket integrated bucket foundation for wellhead platform with a diameter of 40 m as the research *** combining physical model tests and numerical simulations,it analyzes the static stability and dynamic response characteristics of the structure during towing,complete with the effects of the draft,wave height,wave period,and towing point height,which produce the dynamic responses of the structure under different influence factors,such as roll angle,pitch angle,heave acceleration and towing force as well as the sensibility to transport *** results show that the integrated bucket foundation for wellhead platform is capable of self-floating towing,and its movement is affected by the local environment,which will provide a reference for actual projects.

Rubbers or elastomers play an important role in hi-tech technology and civilian daily life because of their unique and strategical ***,the rubber additives are essential components for rubbers’practical ***,developing novel multifunctional additives has attracted increasing research *** this work,low-cost crude carbon dots(CCDs)were used as multifunctional additives for natural rubber/silica system(without any additional modification)through industrial compatible melt-mixing *** results revealed that the CCDs could disperse well in the NR/silica system,and they could not only endow the rubber compound with excellent anti-aging capability due to CCDs’radical scavenging activity because of their plenty of nitrogen-containing species,but also improve the curing rate and mechanical performance of the rubber ***,the CCDs could reduce the rolling resistance of the rubber composites(tanδvalue at 7%strain of the rubber composite could be decreased by 34%),which is promising for the application of energy-saving tire ***,the addition of CCDs could effectively reduce the ZnO dosage by at least 40%in the rubber composite without deteriorating its ***,this work provides valuable guidance to develop novel cheap yet effective additives for the elastomer.
