Effect of kerosene injection states on mixing and combustion characteristics in a cavity-based supersonic combustor

It has been found that the static pressure distribution along the axial direction of liquid kerosene is lower than that of the gaseous kerosene under the same flow condition and overall equivalent ratio from previous studies.To further investigate this phenomenon,a compressible two-phase parallel simulation method is utilized to analyze the mixing and combustion characteristics of gaseous and liquid kerosene jets in a cavity-based supersonic combustor.The numerical results are consistent with the experiments and demonstrate that gaseous injection leads to a cavity shear layer that dives deeper into the cavity,forming two recirculation zones in the front and rear of the cavity.In contrast,the cavity shear layer is closer to the mainstream during liquid injection,and only a large recirculation zone is formed in the rear of the cavity.As a result of the cavity shear layer and the recirculating flow,the fuel vapor of gaseous injection accumulates in the front of the cavity,while for the liquid injection,the fuel vapor disperses in the cavity,cavity shear layer,and the region above,and the rear of the cavity has a higher fuel vapor concentration than the front.This unique fuel distribution causes the combustion area to be concentrated in the cavity during the gaseous injection but dispersed inside and downstream of the cavity during the liquid injection.As a result,forming a thermal throat under the same conditions is more challenging during liquid injection,and the generated static pressure distribution is lower than that during the gaseous injection.

Characterization of distinct microbiota associated with androgenetic alopecia patients treated and untreated with platelet-rich plasma(PRP)

Background:Androgenic alopecia(AGA)is the most common type of hair loss in men,and there are many studies on the treatment of hair loss by platelet-rich plasma(PRP).The human scalp contains a huge microbiome,but its role in the process of hair loss remains unclear,and the relationship between PRP and the microbiome needs further study.Therefore,the purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of PRP treatment on scalp microbiota composition.Methods:We performed PRP treatment on 14 patients with AGA,observed their clinical efficacy,and collected scalp swab samples before and after treatment.The scalp microflora of AGA patients before and after treatment was characterized by amplifying the V3-V4 region of the 16 s RNA gene and sequencing for bacterial identification.Results:The results showed that PRP was effective in the treatment of AGA patients,and the hair growth increased significantly.The results of relative abundance analysis of microbiota showed that after treatment,g_Cutibacterium increased and g_Staphylococcus decreased,which played a stable role in scalp microbiota.In addition,g_Lawsonella decreased,indicating that the scalp oil production decreased after treatment.Conclusions:The findings suggest that PRP may play a role in treating AGA through scalp microbiome rebalancing.

The clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats(CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated protein 9(Cas9)system is an acquired immune system of many bacteria and archaea,comprising CRISPR loci,Cas genes,and its associated proteins.This system can recognize exogenous DNA and utilize the Cas9 protein's nuclease activity to break DNA double-strand and to achieve base insertion or deletion by subsequent DNA repair.In recent years,multiple laboratory and clinical studies have revealed the therapeutic role of the CRISPR/Cas9 system in neurological diseases.This article reviews the CRISPR/Cas9-mediated gene editing technology and its potential for clinical application against neurological diseases.

Solid-state high voltage high repetitive pulse generators have a broad prospect in various applications.The high power and high-frequency operation of the pulse generator suffer from the massive heat dissipation problem,which limits the improvement of the output parameters and even affects the lifetime.This article focuses on heat management technology for high voltage high repetitive pulse generators.Firstly,the typical circuit topology of the high repetitive pulse generators was summarised.From the perspective of different application requirements,the demands of the heat management design were concluded.Moreover,the heat generation characteristics and difficulties of solid-state high voltage high repetitive pulse generators were analysed.Then,the different stateof-art cooling techniques were reviewed,and their applicability and limitations for the high voltage high repetitive generators were discussed.Finally,a flow chart for heat management design was given.

Unraveling the regulatory network of flower coloration in soybean:Insights into roles of GmMYBA3 and GmMYBR1

Anthocyanins play crucial roles in pollen protection and pollinator attraction in flowering plants.However,the mechanisms underlying flower color determination and whether floral anthocyanin regulators participate in other processes remain largely unresolved in soybeans(Glycine max).In this study,we investigated the genetic components and mechanisms governing anthocyanin biosynthesis in soybean flowers.Molecular and genetic studies have characterized two antagonistic regulators,the positive activator GmMYBA3 and the negative repressor GmMYBR1,that modulate the gene expression of anthocyanin biosynthesis in soybean flowers.Further findings revealed a regulatory interplay between GmMYBA3 and GmMYBR1 bridged by GmTT8a,highlighting the complexity of anthocyanin regulation in different soybean organs.Exploration of additional soybean cultivars demonstrated the universality of GmMYBA3 and GmMYBR1 in regulating floral anthocyanin biosynthesis-related genes,with GmF3’5’H identified as a crucial determinant of white flower color.This study provides a molecular mechanism underlying soybean flower color determination,paving the way for the molecular modification of soybean flowers to probably enhance their resistance to abiotic stresses and attractiveness to pollinators.

Early pathogenesis of ischemia-reperfusion(I/R)-induced acute kidney injury(AKI)is dominated by intracellular calcium overload,which induces oxidative stress,intracellular energy metabolism disorder,inflammatory activation,and a series of pathologic cascaded reactions that are closely intertwined with self-amplifying and interactive feedback loops,ultimately resulting in cell damage and kidney failure.Currently,most nanomedicines originate from the perspective of antioxidant stress,which can only quench existing reactive oxide species(ROS)but cannot prevent the continuous production of ROS,resulting in insufficient efficacy.As a safe and promising drug,BAPTA-AM is hydrolyzed into BAPTA by intracellular esterase upon entering cells,which can rapidly chelate with overloaded Ca^(2+),restoring intracellular calcium homeostasis,thus inhibiting ROS regeneration at the source.Here,we designed a KTP-targeting peptide-modified yolk-shell structure of liposome–poly(ethylene glycol)methyl ether-block-poly(L-lactide-co-glycolic)(mPLGA)hybrid nanoparticles(<100 nm),with the characteristics of high encapsulation rate,high colloid stability,facile modification,and prolonged blood circulation time.Once the BA/mPLGA@Lipo-KTP was targeted to the site of kidney injury,the cholesteryl hemisuccinate(CHEMS)in the phospholipid bilayer,as an acidic cholesterol ester,was protonated in the simulated inflammatory slightly acidic environment(pH 6.5),causing the liposomes to rupture and release the BA/mPLGA nanoparticles,which were then depolymerized by intracellular esterase.The BAPTA-AM was diffused and hydrolyzed to produce BAPTA,which can rapidly cut off the malignant loop of calcium overload/ROS generation at its source,blocking the endoplasmic reticulum(ER)apoptosis pathway(ATF4–CHOP–Bax/Bcl-2,Casp-12–Casp-3)and the inflammatory pathway(TNF-α–NF-κB–IL-6 axes),thus alleviating pathological changes in kidney tissue,thereby inhibiting the expression of renal tubular marker kidney injury molecule 1(Kim-1)(reduced by 82.9%)and also exhibiti

Chicken is an important food animal worldwide and plays an important role in human life by providing meat and eggs.Despite recent significant advances in gut microbiome studies,a comprehensive study of chicken gut bacterial,archaeal,and viral genomes remains unavailable.In this study,we constructed a chicken multi-kingdom microbiome catalog(CMKMC),including 18,201 bacterial,225 archaeal,and 33,411 viral genomes,and annotated over 6,076,006 protein-coding genes by integrating 135 chicken gut metagenomes and publicly available metagenome-assembled genomes(MAGs)from ten countries.We found that 812 and 240 MAGs in our dataset were putative novel species and genera,respectively,far beyond what was previously reported.The newly unclassified MAGs were predominant in Phyla Firmicutes_A(n=263),followed by Firmicutes(n=126),Bacteroidota(n=121),and Proteobacteria(n=87).Most of the classified species-level viral oper-ational taxonomic units belong to Caudovirales.Approximately,63.24%of chicken gut viromes are predicted to infect two or more hosts,including complete circular viruses.Moreover,we found that diverse auxiliary metabolic genes and antibiotic resistance genes were carried by viruses.Together,our CMKMC provides the largest integrated MAGs and viral genomes from the chicken gut to date,functional insights into the chicken gastrointestinal tract microbiota,and paves the way for microbial interventions for better chicken health and productivity.

Fe-Zn alloy, a new biodegradable material capable of reducing RoS and inhibiting oxidative stress

Fe-based biodegradable materials have attracted significant attention due to their exceptional mechanical properties and favorable biocompatibility.Currently,research on Fe-based materials mainly focuses on regulating the degradation rate.However,excessive release of Fe ions during material degrada-tion will induce the generation of reactive oxygen species(ROS),leading to oxidative stress and ferroptosis.Therefore,the con-trol of RoS release and the improvement of biocompatibility for Fe-based materials are very important.In this study,new Fe-Zn alloys were prepared by electrodeposition with the intention of using Zn as an antioxidant to reduce oxidative damage during alloy degradation.Initially,the impact of three potential degra-dation ions(Fe^(2+),Fe^(3+),Zn^(2+))from the Fe-Zn alloy on human endothelial cell(EC)activity and migration ability was investigated.Subsequently,cell adhesion,cell activity,ROs production and DNA damage were assessed at various locations surrounding the alloy.Finally,the influence of different concentrations of Zn^(2+) in the medium on cell viability and ROS production was evaluated.High levels of ROS exhibited evident toxic effects on ECs and promoted DNA damage.As an antioxidant,Zn?+effectively reduced ROS production around Fe and improved the cell viability on its surface at a concentration of 0.04 mmol/l.These findings demonstrate that Fe-Zn alloy can attenuate the ROS generated from Fe degradation therebyenhancingcytocompatibility.

Internal Polarization Field Induced Hydroxyl Spillover Effect for Industrial Water Splitting Electrolyzers

The formation of multiple oxygen intermediates supporting efficient oxygen evolution reaction(OER)are affinitive with hydroxyl adsorption.However,ability of the catalyst to capture hydroxyl and maintain the continuous supply at active sits remains a tremendous challenge.Herein,an affordable Ni2P/FeP2 heterostructure is presented to form the internal polarization field(IPF),arising hydroxyl spillover(HOSo)during OER.Facilitated by IPF,the oriented HOSo from FeP2 to Ni2P can activate the Ni site with a new hydroxyl transmission channel and build the optimized reaction path of oxygen intermediates for lower adsorption energy,boosting the OER activity(242 mV vs.RHE at 100 mA cm-2)for least 100 h.More interestingly,for the anion exchange membrane water electrolyzer(AEMWE)with low concentration electrolyte,the advantage of HOSo effect is significantly amplified,delivering 1 A cm^(-2)at a low cell voltage of 1.88 V with excellent stability for over 50 h.

Bioinformatics analysis and experimental validation of cystathionine-gamma-lyase as a potential prognosis biomarker in hepatocellular carcinoma

Background:Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is a common malignant tumor with poor prognosis and high mortality worldwide.Although cystathionine-gamma-lyase(CSE)plays an important role in the development of multiple tumors,the clinical implication and potential mechanisms of CSE in HCC development remain elusive.Methods:In our study,the CSE expression in HCC was analyzed in Gene Expression Omnibus(GEO)and The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA)datasets and further conﬁrmed by RT-qPCR and immunohistochemistry assays in HCC samples.Furthermore,the associations between CSE expression and HCC malignancy as well as survival were analyzed in GSE14520 and validated in HCC patients.Finally,the biological functions of CSE in HCC cells was assessed by CCK-8,ﬂow cytometry and Western blotting.Results:Lower transcriptional and proteomic CSE expressions were found in HCC tissues in contrast to adjacent normal tissues.Decreased CSE mRNA expression was signiﬁcantly associated with advanced clinicopathological features and poor outcomes in HCC patients from public database and our cohort.Following univariate and multivariate analyses of GSE14520 data showed that CSE expression was an independent prognostic indicator for the overall survival(OS)and recurrence-free survival(RFS)of HCC patients.In vitro experiments further explained that CSE might trigger HCC cell apoptosis by H2S.Conclusion:In summary,the present study identiﬁed the relationship between CSE expression and HCC malignancy as well as OS and RFS,indicating that CSE might be a potential prognostic biomarker and a novel therapeutic target for HCC.
