One-step synthesis of hierarchical Ni_(3)Se_(2)nanosheet-on-nanorods/Ni foam electrodes for hybrid supercapacitors

Transitional metal selenides have high conductivity,even metal quality,which makes them great for using as electrode materials for fabricating supercapacitors.Here,hierarchical Ni_(3)Se_(2)nanosheet-on-nanorods on Ni foam(NSR-Ni_(3)Se_(2)/Ni)was fabricated by a facile three-dimensional(3D)substrate-assisted confinement assembly method,and used as a freestanding electrode material for hybrid supercapacitors(HSCs).In this design,metallic Ni_(3)Se_(2)with hybrid 1D/2D architecture could effectively enhance the active specific surface area of electrode and improve space utilization,as well as significantly facilitate electrons transport,while Ni foam served as the Ni source of Ni_(3)Se_(2)and provided 3D multi-electron transport channels,thus boosting the specific capacity.The constructed hierarchical NSR-Ni_(3)Se_(2)electrode delivered a superior areal specific capacity of 1.068 mAh/cm^(2)(7.69 F/cm^(2))at 2 mA/cm^(2)and retained 68.2%of the initial capacity when the current density increases by 15 times.Furthermore,the as-assembled NSR-Ni_(3)Se_(2)device exhibited an ultrahigh energy density of 56.4 Wh/kg and high power density of 4640.3 W/kg,and a capacity retention of 92.6%even after 6000 cycles.

Optimization of desert lake information extraction from remote sensing images using cellular automata

Desert lakes are important wetland resources in the blown-sand area of western China and play a significant role in maintain-ing the regional ecological environment.However,large-scale coal mining in recent years has considerably impacted the deposition condition of several lakes.Rapid and accurate extraction of lake information based on satellite images is crucial for developing protective measures against desertification.However,the spatial resolution of these images often leads to mixed pixels near water boundaries,affecting extraction precision.Traditional pixel unmixing methods mainly obtain water coverage information in a mixed pixel,making it difficult to accurately describe the spatial distribution.In this paper,the cellular automata(CA)model was adopted in order to realize lake information extraction at a sub-pixel level.A mining area in Shenmu City,Shaanxi Province,China is selected as the research region,using the image of Sentinel-2 as the data source and the high spatial resolution UAV image as the reference.First,water coverage of mixed pixels in the Sentinel-2 image was calculated with the dimidiate pixel model and the fully constrained least squares(FCLS)method.Second,the mixed pixels were subdivided to form the cellular space at a sub-pixel level and the transition rules are constructed based on the water coverage information and spatial correlation.Lastly,the process was implemented using Python and IDL,with the ArcGIS and ENVI software being used for validation.The experiments show that the CA model can improve the sub-pixel positioning accuracy for lake bodies in mixed pixel image and improve classification accuracy.The FCLS-CA model has a higher accuracy and is able to identify most water bodies in the study area,and is therefore suitable for desert lake monitor-ing in mining areas.

Unidirectional Identity-Based Proxy Re-Signature with Key Insulation in EHR Sharing System

The introduction of the electronic medical record(EHR)sharing system has made a great contribution to the management and sharing of healthcare data.Considering referral treatment for patients,the original signature needs to be converted into a re-signature that can be verified by the new organization.Proxy re-signature(PRS)can be applied to this scenario so that authenticity and nonrepudiation can still be insured for data.Unfortunately,the existing PRS schemes cannot realize forward and backward security.Therefore,this paper proposes the first PRS scheme that can provide key-insulated property,which can guarantee both the forward and backward security of the key.Although the leakage of the private key occurs at a certain moment,the forward and backward key will not be attacked.Thus,the purpose of key insulation is implemented.What’s more,it can update different corresponding private keys in infinite time periods without changing the identity information of the user as the public key.Besides,the unforgeability of our scheme is proved based on the extended Computational Diffie-Hellman assumption in the random oracle model.Finally,the experimental simulation demonstrates that our scheme is feasible and in possession of promising properties.

Pterostilbene attenuates intrauterine growth retardation-induced colon inflamm tion in piglets by modulating endoplasmic reticulum stress and autophagy

Background:Endoplasmic reticulum(ER)stress and autophagy are implicated in the pathophysiology of intestinal inflammation;however,their roles in intrauterine growth retardation(IUGR)-induced colon inflammation are unclear.This study explored the protective effects of natural stilbene pterostilbene on colon inflammation using the IUGR piglets and the tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-α)-treated human colonic epithelial cells(Caco-2)by targeting ER stress and autophagy.Results:Both the IUGR colon and the TNF-α-treated Caco-2 cells exhibited inflammatory responses,ER stress,and impaired autophagic flux(P<0.05).The ER stress inducer tunicamycin and the autophagy inhibitor 3-methyladenine further augmented inflammatory responses and apoptosis in the TNF-α-treated Caco-2 cells(P<0.05).Conversely,pterostilbene inhibited ER stress and restored autophagic flux in the IUGR colon and the TNF-α-treated cells(P<0.05).Pterostilbene also prevented the release of inflammatory cytokines and nuclear translocation of nuclear factor kappa B p65,reduced intestinal permeability and cell apoptosis,and facilitated the expression of intestinal tight junction proteins in the IUGR colon and the TNF-α-treated cells(P<0.05).Importantly,treatment with tunicamycin or autophagosome-lysosome binding inhibitor chloroquine blocked the positive effects of pterostilbene on inflammatory response,cell apoptosis,and intestinal barrier function in the TNF-α-exposed Caco-2 cells(P<0.05).Conclusion:Pterostilbene mitigates ER stress and promotes autophagic flux,thereby improving colon inflammation and barrier dysfunction in the IUGR piglets and the TNF-α-treated Caco-2 cells.

Crisscross Harris Hawks Optimizer for Global Tasks and Feature Selection

Harris Hawks Optimizer (HHO) is a recent well-established optimizer based on the hunting characteristics of Harris hawks, which shows excellent efficiency in solving a variety of optimization issues. However, it undergoes weak global search capability because of the levy distribution in its optimization process. In this paper, a variant of HHO is proposed using Crisscross Optimization Algorithm (CSO) to compensate for the shortcomings of original HHO. The novel developed optimizer called Crisscross Harris Hawks Optimizer (CCHHO), which can effectively achieve high-quality solutions with accelerated convergence on a variety of optimization tasks. In the proposed algorithm, the vertical crossover strategy of CSO is used for adjusting the exploitative ability adaptively to alleviate the local optimum;the horizontal crossover strategy of CSO is considered as an operator for boosting explorative trend;and the competitive operator is adopted to accelerate the convergence rate. The effectiveness of the proposed optimizer is evaluated using 4 kinds of benchmark functions, 3 constrained engineering optimization issues and feature selection problems on 13 datasets from the UCI repository. Comparing with nine conventional intelligence algorithms and 9 state-of-the-art algorithms, the statistical results reveal that the proposed CCHHO is significantly more effective than HHO, CSO, CCNMHHO and other competitors, and its advantage is not influenced by the increase of problems’ dimensions. Additionally, experimental results also illustrate that the proposed CCHHO outperforms some existing optimizers in working out engineering design optimization;for feature selection problems, it is superior to other feature selection methods including CCNMHHO in terms of fitness, error rate and length of selected features.

A mini review: Constructing perovskite p-n homojunction solar cells

Organic metal halide perovskite materials have excellent photoelectric properties, and the power conversion efficiency(PCE) of the perovskite solar cells(PSCs) has increased from 3.8% to more than 25%. In the development of PSCs, innovative architectures were being proposed constantly. However, the use of the electron transport layer(ETL) and hole transport layer(HTL) increases manufacturing costs and process complexity. Perovskite material has ambipolar charge transport characteristics, so it could functionalize as both the optical absorption layer and carrier transport layer(CTL). In this review, we analyzed the p/n-type perovskite materials, perovskite p-n homojunction solar cells, and carrier transport layers-free(CTLs-free) devices. Finally, we propose some innovative device architectures. We hope that this mini review could pave way for the simplification of the architectures, promote the preparation of the low-cost and high-efficiency devices, and accelerate the commercialization of the PSCs.

Resveratrol and its derivative pterostilbene ameliorate intestine injury in intrauterine growth-retarded weanling piglets by modulating redox status and gut microbiota

Background:Intestinal disorder is an important factor contributing to growth lag and high rates of morbidity and mortality of piglets with intrauterine growth retardation(IUGR).Resveratrol(RSV)and its derivative pterostilbene(PT)are natural stilbenes possessing various bioactivities,such as antioxidative and anti-inflammatory effects.This study compared the protective potential of RSV and PT on the intestinal redox status and gut microbiota in weanling piglets with IUGR.Methods:Eighteen male piglets of normal body weight(NBW)and 54 same-sex IUGR piglets were chosen according to their birth and weaning weights.The NBW piglets accepted a basal diet,while the IUGR piglets were allotted to one of three groups according to their body weight at weaning and received a basal diet,an RSV-supplemented diet(300 mg/kg),or a PT-supplemented diet(300 mg/kg),respectively.Results:Compared with IUGR piglets,both RSV and PT improved the IUGR-associated decrease in jejunal villus height and increases in plasma diamine oxidase activity and D-lactate level and jejunal apoptosis of piglets(P<0.05).Administering RSV and PT also enhanced jejunal superoxide dismutase activity and the mRNA and protein expression of superoxide dismutase 2 of IUGR piglets by promoting nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2)nuclear translocation(P<0.05).Comparatively,PT was more effective than RSV in elevating the villus height/crypt depth ratio and occludin mRNA and protein levels in the jejunum of IUGR piglets(P<0.05).PT was also superior to RSV in increasing Nrf2 nuclear translocation and inhibiting malondialdehyde accumulation in the jejunum of IUGR piglets(P<0.05).Additionally,RSV modulated the composition of cecal microbiota of IUGR piglets,as evidenced by increasing the prevalence of the phylum Bacteroidetes and the genera Prevotella,Faecalibacterium,and Parabacteroides and inhibiting the growth of the phylum Proteobacteria and its genera Escherichia and Actinobacillus(P<0.05).Moreover,RSV significantly increased the butyrate concentration i

Deep brain-machine interfaces:sensing and modulating the human deep brain

Different from conventional brain-machine interfaces that focus more on decoding the cerebral cortex,deep brain-machine interfaces enable interactions between external machines and deep brain structures.They sense and modulate deep brain neural activities,aiming at function restoration,device control and therapeutic improvements.In this article,we provide an overview of multiple deep brain recording and stimulation techniques that can serve as deep brain-machine interfaces.We highlight two widely used interface technologies,namely deep brain stimulation and stereotactic electroencephalography,for technical trends,clinical applications and brain connectivity research.We discuss the potential to develop closed-loop deep brain-machine interfaces and achieve more effective and applicable systems for the treatment of neurological and psychiatric disorders.

Comparison of the protective effects of resveratrol and pterostilbene against intestinal damage and redox imbalance in weanling piglets

Background: Evidence indicates that early weaning predisposes piglets to intestinal oxidative stress and increases the risk of intestinal dysfunction;however, there are minimal satisfactory treatment strategies for these conditions.This study investigated the potential of resveratrol and its analog, pterostilbene, as antioxidant protectants for regulating intestinal morphology, barrier function, and redox status among weanling piglets.Methods: A total of 144 piglets were selected at 21 days of age and randomly allocated into one of four treatment groups, each of which included six replicates. Piglets in a sow-reared control group were suckling normally between ages 21 and 28 days, while those in weaned groups were fed a basal diet, supplemented with either 300 mg/kg of resveratrol or with 300 mg/kg of pterostilbene. Parameters associated with intestinal injury and redox status were analyzed at the end of the feeding trial.Results: Early weaning disrupted the intestinal function of young piglets, with evidence of increased diamine oxidase activity and D-lactate content in the plasma, shorter villi, an imbalance between cell proliferation and apoptosis, an impaired antioxidant defense system, and severe oxidative damage in the jejunum relative to suckling piglets. Feeding piglets with a resveratrol-supplemented diet partially increased villus height(P = 0.056) and tended to diminish apoptotic cell numbers(P = 0.084) in the jejunum compared with those fed a basal diet. Similarly, these beneficial effects were observed in the pterostilbene-fed piglets. Pterostilbene improved the feed efficiency of weanling piglets between the ages of 21 and 28 days;it also resulted in diminished plasma diamine oxidase activity and D-lactate content relative to untreated weaned piglets(P < 0.05). Notably, pterostilbene restored jejunal antioxidant capacity, an effect that was nearly absent in the resveratrol-fed piglets. Analysis of anticancer compound,indole-3-carbinol,in broccoli using a new ultrasound-assisted dispersive-filter extraction method based on poly(deep eutectic solvent)-graphene oxide nanocomposite

Indole-3-carbinol(I3C),an important anticancer compound found in broccoli,has attracted considerable attention.The rapid extraction and accurate analysis of I3C in the pharmaceutical industry in broccoli is challenging as I3C is unstable at low pH and high temperature.In this study,a rapid,accurate,and lowcost ultrasound-assisted dispersive-filter extraction(UADFE)technique based on poly(deep eutectic solvent)-graphene oxide(PDES-GO)adsorbent was developed for the isolation and analysis of I3C in broccoli for the first time.PDES-GO with multiple adsorption interactions and a fast mass transfer rate was synthesized to accelerate adsorption and desorption.UADFE was developed by combining dispersive solid-phase extraction(DSPE)and filter solid-phase extraction(FSPE)to realize rapid extraction and separation.Based on the above two strategies,the proposed PDES-GO-UADFE method coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC)allowed the rapid(15-16 min),accurate(84.3%-96.4%),and low-cost(adsorbent:3.00 mg)analysis of I3C in broccoli and was superior to solid-phase extraction,DSPE,and FSPE methods.The proposed method showed remarkable linearity(r=0.9998;range:0.0840-48.0 mg/g),low limit of quantification(0.0840 mg/g),and high precision(relative standard deviation<5.6%).Therefore,the PDES-GO-UADFE-HPLC method shows significant potential in the field of pharmaceutical analysis for the separation and analysis of anti-cancer compounds in complex plant samples.
