Concurrent infections of dengue viruses serotype 2 and 3 in patient with severe dengue from Jakarta, Indonesia

Objective: To describe the clinical manifestation of patient with severe dengue, to identify the serotypes and genotypes of dengue viruses(DENV) which concurrently infecting the patient, and to explore the possible relationship of severe dengue with the concurrent infection of DENV. Methods: Dengue diagnosis was performed using NS1 antigen detection and Ig G/Ig M ELISA. Standard clinical and laboratory examinations were performed to obtain the clinical and hematological data. DENV concurrent infections were detected and confirmed using RT-PCR and DENV Envelope gene sequencing. Phylogenetic analyses were performed to determine the genotypes of the viruses. Results: The patient was classified as having severe dengue characterized by severe plasma leakage, hemorrhage, and organ damage involving lung, liver, and kidney. Concurrent infection of DENV serotype 2 and 3 was observed. The infecting DENV-2 virus was grouped into Cosmopolitan genotype while DENV-3 virus was classified into Genotype Ⅰ. Both viruses were closely related to isolates that were endemic in Jakarta. Viremia measurement was conducted and revealed a significantly higher virus titer of DENV-3 compared to DENV-2. Conclusions: The occurrence of multi-serotype DENV infections was presented in a patient with severe clinical manifestation in Indonesia. The hyperendemicity of dengue in Indonesia may contribute to the DENV concurrent infections cases and may underlie the severity of the disease.

The risk of peritonitis complications in continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis(CAPD)can be prevented or reduced by providing proper education and continuous *** and telemonitoring are methods that enable remote monitoring and patient *** study aimed to determine the success and factors affecting telemonitoring in CAPD patient *** study is a scoping review(ScR)using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses-ScR *** searches were carried out on ProQuest,PubMed,and ScienceDirect with a time range of *** extraction was performed regarding knowledge level,quality of life,clinical outcomes(peritonitis),and risk of *** the 12 articles and studies included,6 articles were related to the effect of telemonitoring on CAPD patient outcomes,and 6 articles were associated with the effect of education on CAPD patient *** provided to patients can improve patient understanding of therapeutic modalities for renal disorders,reduce the potential for peritonitis and dialysis complications,and improve the quality of life of patients with *** patients who received telemonitoring had a better quality of life,good clinical outcomes,and a lower risk of hospitalization than those who did not receive telemonitoring and had fewer health-care *** summary,the implementation of telemonitoring and education in chronic kidney disease patients with CAPD modality therapy has been proven effective in improving quality of life and reducing dialysis-related risks.

Numerous endeavours have been developed bio-based polymer packaging films to replace the use of petroleum-based *** this study,as a response and support to the enduring research issues,we have developed the optimization composite film formulation based on chitosan(2%),Dioscorea alata starch(0.5%),and glycerol(1.5%)had satisfactory result on several parameters consisting thickness(0.45 mm),solubility(472.1%),moisture content(29.872%),biodegradability(38.346%),elastic modulus(971.2 N/m2)and tensile strength(98.71 N/m).Further,the optimized chitosan film(CF)formulation was enriched with several essential oils(EO),i.e.,lemongrass,garlic and aloe vera *** the addition of EO,the solubility,biodegradable tests,and elongation to break of CF tended to decrease whereas the contact angle and mechanical properties significantly ***,the antibacterial properties of CF against Escherichia coli,Salmonella typhi,Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus epidermidis dramatically increased by the addition of *** impressive results are expected to be applied in the food packaging industry to maintain the quality of food products.

Comparative study of microwave-assisted versus conventional heated reactions of biomass conversion into levulinic acid over hierarchical Mn_(3)O_(4)/ZSM-5 zeolite catalysts

Conversion of delignified cellulose from rice husk biomass,and model compounds of cellobiose and glucose to levulinic acid(LA)over hierarchical Mn_(3)O_(4)/ZSM-5 catalyst was carried out using a household microwave method,and then compared to the established conventional thermos-reaction *** hierarchical ZSM-5 was prepared using a double template method,aiming for micro and mesoporous systems developed in the *** as-prepared ZSM-5 were modified with Mn3O4 through incipient wetness impregnation with Mn2+solution followed by calcination at 550℃.The catalysts were characterized using various techniques such as powder XRD,SEM,BET,AAS,and FT-IR which indicated the hierarchical structure of MFI zeolite(Si/Al of 30-34)with Mn loading of 2.14 wt%.The conversion products were analyzed using HPLC,1H NMR,and 13C NMR *** microwave-assisted reaction using 600 W for 180 s using delignified cellulose,cellobiose,and glucose gave conversion of 37.27%,46.35%,and 54.29%,respectively which is close to the conversion given by the conventional reaction carried out at 130◦C for 4 h(36.75%,55.62%,and 60.9%,respectively).Interestingly,the LA yield from the microwave-assisted reaction(4.33%,6.12%,and 9.57%)is higher than the yield from the conventional reaction,which only produced 5.2%,4.88%,and 6.93%*** microwaveassisted method is also shown to give less by-products compared to the thermochemical ***,it could be considered an alternative method for converting cellulose to LA.

Objective: To determine the inhibition activity of Typhonium flagelliforme Lodd. Blume(T. flagelliforme) leaf extract on cyclooxygenase 2(COX-2) expression of colon cancer ***: T. flagelliforme leaf extract was prepared to macerate in ethyl acetate. In vitro anticancer activity was assayed by MTT method on Wi Dr colon cancer cells. This study applied apoptosis induction assay to investigate the mechanism of cell death using double staining method. COX-2 expression was stained by ***: T. flagelliforme showed anticancer activity and induced apoptosis on Wi Dr cells through inhibition of COX-2 expression with IC5070 mg/m ***: This study showed that T. flagelliforme is a promising chemopreventive agent for colon cancer through COX-2 inhibition.

Objective:To study asymbiotic seed germination and mass propagation of Dendrobium lasianthera which is one of the endangered medicinal orchids using ***:The 14 weeks old hand pollinated seeds were sown on Vacin and Went(VW)solid medium supplemented with various concentrations of peptone(1,2,3 g/L) and without peptone which was used as control *** the 4,8,and 12 weeks after the seeds were sown,seed germination and shoot formation were *** evaluate the role of organic nutrient additives on subsequent shoot development and root formation,particular shoots with about 1 cm length contains 1–2 leaves obtained from the seeds germination was cultured on VW medium additives with different of organic nutrient:15% coconut water,2 g/L peptone,150 g/L banana homogenate,and without organic nutrient was used as *** 16 weeks of culture,the plantlet height,number of leaves,number of roots,leaf length and root length were ***:The supplementation of 2 g/L peptone in VW medium was proven to be suitable concentration for seed germination(100%) and shoot formation with 84.0% the protocorm development to phase 5(shoot).VW medium containing 15% coconut water was effectively improved the shoot development,with well developed roots and leaves compared to the other treatment and 95% of acclimatized plantlets ***:This protocol is an efficient way for the in vitro mass propagation of this Dendrobium lasianthera.

Nitrous oxide gas removal by using compost-based biofilter medium

This paper is aimed at introducing our research result in the efficiencyin removing nitrous oxide gas (N_2O) by using compost as a medium filter,which is actually a kind of manure derived from cow faeces at KukusanKelurahan farm conlaing wood chips and some other microorganisms. Practicallyspeaking, N_2O is a major greenhouse gas, whose continuous presence in theatmosphere is expected to last over a 100 years and produce its radiative warmingeffect just next to CO_2. In spite of its rather small concentration in the atmosphere,it is the Number Four largest greenhouse gas contributor to the overallglobal warming, behind carbon dioxide, methane and water vapour. Thebiofiltration experiments we have conducted to explore its removing rate of N_2Ofrom flue gas help us to find various operating factors in the biofilter system. Sofar as we know, N_2O gas has been fed from the top of the column. It was flowingthrough the column when it is made to get circulated with a peristaltic pumpfor 6 hours. The data obtained in our paper prove to be in conformity with theLangmuir adsorption model. The highest N_2O gas removing efficiency can bemade to be as high as 70.22% at the highest biofilter length of 50 cm with thegas flowing rate of 200 mL/min. The results of this research have finally beenmodeled by the Langmuir adsorption isotherm formula with its K value obtainedbeing 16.949 L/mol.

Effect of sucrose and potassium nitrate on biomass and saponin content of Talinum paniculatum Gaertn. hairy root in balloon-type bubble bioreactor

Objective:To increase biomass and saponin production in hairy root culture of Talinum paniculatum Gaertn.(***)in balloon-type bubble bioreactor(BTBB).Methods:Hairy roots which were collected from leaf explants of *** were infected by Agrobacterium rhizogenes strain *** hairy roots were cultivated at400 m L Murashige and Skoog liquid medium without growth regulator(MS0)in1 000 m L *** BTBB had 2 g hairy roots as initial inoculum and these cultures were treated with various concentrations of sucrose(3%,4%,5%,6%w/v)and potassium nitrate(0.5,1.0,1.5 and 2.0 strength of MS medium).Cultures were maintained for *** and dry weights of hairy roots at the end of culture were ***:Various concentrations of sucrose influenced the biomass accumulation of hairy *** biomass was reached by MS medium supplemented with 6%sucrose and it was approximately threefold higher than *** supplemented with potassium nitrate at 2.0 strength of MS0 could increase biomass accumulation of hairy roots until 0.14 g dry weight and it was almost threefold higher than ***,the maximum saponin content was obtained by MS medium supplemented with 5%sucrose and 2.0 strength potassium nitrate of ***:Based on this research,those conditions can be used to produce biomass and saponin of hairy root of *** in the large scale.

Biofiltration of Nitrous Oxide Using Cow-Manure Based Compost as Medium Filter

Nitrous oxide (N2O) gas is a fourth contributor in the greenhouse effect after CO2, CH4, and water vapor. Although its concentration is relatively low, but very difficult to be decomposed in the atmosphere. A laboratory-scale biofilter was used to evaluate the effects of flow rate, medium depth, and water content of filter medium on the N2O removal efficiency and the growth of microorganisms in the compost. The biofilter was operated using cow-manure based compost medium with husk and coco peat as bulking agent. Research was carried out by batch flow system for 9 hours. The result indicates that the highest N2O removal efficiency is obtained under flow rate of 88 cm3/min with a depth of 50 cm and water content 50% (w/w) by 61%, and elimination capacity for 14078 g/(m3·h) was achieved.
