Investigation on maternal mortality in Southeast Asia,Europe and Africa using three delays model

Background:Maternal mortality is a prevalent issue in healthcare provision *** is particularly common in developing and underdeveloped countries,where maternal deaths during childbirth or pregnancy occur *** internal and external factors contribute to the high maternal mortality rate in specific *** model,known as the three delays model approach,examines three distinct causes that contribute to this *** first delay is the lack of awareness in seeking timely healthcare,the second delay involves obstacles in reaching healthcare facilities on time,and the third delay relates to poor or inadequate healthcare provision in tertiary care *** delays are responsible for the elevated maternal mortality rates,with the prevalence of each delay varying across ***:The objective of this literature review is to examine and critically evaluate existing literature on perceptions and investigations regarding maternal mortality in Southeast Asia,Europe and Africa,utilizing the three delays model approach as a categorization ***:This literature review followed BEME guide No.3.A total of 18 articles were included in the sample after conducting a thorough search of various databases and search engines.A Prisma flowchart was created,and the articles were critically ***:A total of 18 articles focusing on different regions were *** findings revealed that in countries of Southeast Asia,the primary cause of maternal mortality is the first delay,which refers to the lack of awareness in seeking medical *** the other hand,in Africa and other European countries,the second and third delays are more prominently associated with maternal ***:Inadequate care is one of the major causes of maternal mortality in majority of regions acrossthe *** factors can hinder access to appropriate *** three delays model plays a significant role in the higher maternal mortal

Transparent photo thermal hydrogels for wound visualization and accelerated healing

Utilizing photothermal hydrogels as a wound dressing is a promising strategy to accelerate wound ***,a photothermal hydrogel has a strong light-absorbing capability,and hence its transparency can be largely sacrificed,which is unbeneficial for the visual monitoring of wound *** remains challenging to balance the trade-off between the photothermal conversion and wound visualization for the photothermal hydrogel ***,a composite photothermal hydrogel film with high transparency is presented for the visual monitor of the wound,which is constructed by incorporating CsxW03 nanorods into the networks of polyacrylamide *** composite photothermal hydrogel film exhibits high light absorption in the near-infrared region and high transmittance in the visible light *** 980 nm laser irradiation,the composite hydrogel can be heated up to 45°*** vivo animal experiment on mouse skin wound model shows that the composite hydrogel film can locally heat the skin wound to accelerate healing while maintaining more than 70%transparency to realize real-time observation of the *** study provides the first attempt to solve the problem of opacity in photothermal hydrogel dressings,promoting the possibility of its clinical applications.

Application of NMR Relaxometry to Study Nanostructured Poly(vinyl alcohol)/MMT/Cephalexin Materials for Use in Drug Delivery Systems

Polymers containing nanoparticles dispersed and distributed in the matrix can be used for control of drug release. In this work, hydrophilic matrix systems were prepared using poly(vinyl alcohol) and unmodified clay containing the same amount of cephalexin. The materials were obtained through in situ polymerization and were characterized by the conventional technique of FTIR and NMR relaxometry, through determination of proton spin-lattice relaxation time, in order to understand the molecular behavior of the new materials. The NMR relaxometry data showed that the new materials containing low quantities of clay (0.25% and 0.75%) and the same amount of cephalexin (0.5 g) had very good dispersion and distribution of the clay and drug in the polymer matrix. The combination of clay and cephalexin formed a more homogenous material with a narrow domain curve and low relaxation values. The material containing 0.25% clay presented a mixed morphology, with part exfoliated and part intercalated, as could be seen from the relaxation domain distribution, which was larger than that for material with 0.75% clay.

目的 :探讨全膝关节置换术治疗伴有帕金森病的膝关节骨关节炎的患者的中期随访的临床疗效及经验总结。方法:收集自2011年1月至2014年1月收治19例(21膝)全膝关节置换术治疗帕金森合并膝关节骨性关节炎的患者,其中男9例,女10例;年龄61~83岁,平均71.3岁,术前及术后查影像学结果,评估影像学表现。采用VAS疼痛评分及膝关节评分系统KSS评价临床效果。术前对患者进行帕金森病Hoehn-yahr分级:1期3例,1.5期4例,2期5例,2.5期4例,3期2例,4期1例。结果:19例患者获得随访,时间3~7年,平均4.3年。患者疼痛均较术前明显减轻或消失。所有患者切口Ⅰ期愈合。末次随访时,3例有膝前疼痛,其中轻度疼痛1例,中度2例,无重度疼痛。患者VAS评分由术前的8.4±1.3降低到末次随访时的3.1±1.2(P<0.05)。KSS评分由术前的43.6±7.3提高到末次随访时的91.8±10.6(P<0.05)。帕金森病情在药物控制下进展不明显。X线检查未见假体松动及下沉断裂。结论:人工全膝关节置换术在帕金森病人中的应用是一种安全有效的方法。中期随访疗效较满意。

Heterotopic ossification (HO) is the abnormal, non-neoplastic presence of lamellar bone in soft tissue. The ectopic formation of lamellar bone in non-osseus tissues secondary to traumatic injuries of the spinal cord or the brain is defined as Neurogenic HO. The pathophysiology of HO is not clear. But several theories like overactive humoral mechanisms after fracture healing, imbalance of pro-osteoinductive and anti-osteoinductive mediators located on the soft tissues and gene mutations in such as bone morphogenetic proteins-4 (BMP-4) are proposed. Casualty factors leading to increased risk of HO include older age, blast mechanism of injury, location of injury and traumatic brain injury. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate a case of HO located in the brain without history of trauma or any other risk factors.
