Selective modification of peptides has always been a challenging issue. The selective alkylation of peptides can alter the biological activity and physical properties of molecules, and it has gained significant research interest. We herein disclose an intriguing gold-catalyzed alkylation of peptides using bench-stable unactivated alkyl bromides under photoredox catalysis. A wide range of structurally diverse primary, secondary and tertiary alkyl bromides serve as effective coupling partners to precisely connect with the α-C(sp3)–H in glycine residue of peptides. This protocol demonstrates an exceptionally broad scope for alkyl halides and excellent tolerance for a wide range of useful functional groups. A series of relay transformations to construct cyclic peptides, to proceed click reaction and to realize peptide fluorescence labeling further enhance its synthetic practicality. In addition, mechanistic studies and density functional theory(DFT) calculations reveal an inner-sphere and subsequent outersphere single electron transfer(SET) mechanism.

Silicon-containing arylacetylene (PSA) resins have broad application prospects because of their excellent heat ***,improving their mechanical properties and interfacial bonding with reinforcement fibers while maintaining heat resistance is a challenge in engineering ***,poly(diethynylbenzene-methylsilyl-3-benzonitrile)(DEB-CN) and poly(diethynylbenzene-methylsilyl-3,6-diethynylcarbazole-3-benzonitrile)(DEC-CN) were synthesized via an isopropylmagnesium chloride lithium-chloride complex (i-PrMgCl·LiCl),overcoming the compatibility problem between cyano groups and Grignard *** cyano and alkyne groups in the resin underwent cyclization to form pyridine,catalyzed by the-NH-moiety in DEC-CN,resulting in extremely high thermal stability (5%weight loss temperature:669.3°C,glass transition temperature>650°C).The combination of cyano dipole-dipole pairing and hydrogen bonding greatly enhanced the resin-fiber interface properties,while the generated pyridine promoted stress relief in the crosslinked network,substantially improving the mechanical properties of the cyano-silicon-containing arylacetylene resin *** flexural strength of quartz fiber cloth/DEC-CN composites was 298.2 MPa at room temperature and 145.9 MPa at 500°C,corresponding to 84.0%and 127.6%enhancements,respectively,over the cyano-free *** cyano-silicon-containing arylacetylene resins exhibited a dual reinforcement mechanism involving physical interfacial interactions and chemical crosslinking,achieving a good balance between thermal stability and mechanical properties.

Potassium ions （K+） doped graphitic carbon nitride （g-C3N4） was prepared by a thermal etching method using potassium hydroxide （KOH） as an ion *** transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR） and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy （XPS）results showed that the generation of the cyano group was detected while introducing K+.Under simulated sunlight irradiation,the sample with a K+doping amount of 10%showed the highest hydrogen peroxide （H2O2） generation rate of2,140.2μmol *** apparent quantum yield （AQY） at 400 nm and the solar-to-chemical conversion （SCC） are 4.35%and1.23%,respectively.K+acted as a bridge between g-C3N4layers,which enhanced charge transfer ***,the cyano group enhanced the adsorption capacity of protons （H+） and promoted the yield of *** catalyst exhibited excellent photocatalytic stability based on four-cycle *** addition,a mechanism study showed that superoxide radicals （·O2-）were the most important active species in the reaction *** production of H2O2was achieved through consecutive single-electron *** study deepens the understanding of the oxygen reduction reaction process and opens up a new venue for improving H2O2generation.

The present work was carried out to evaluate the safety of shrimp(Solenocera crassicornis)treated with different concentrations of sodium metabisulfite(SMB)by soaking or spraying during frozen *** soaked in higher concentrations of SMB showed higher sensory scores,lower total color differences,and better anti-melanosis effects than shrimps in the control and other treatment groups throughout frozen storage(−18℃).Lower total volatile basic nitrogen and thiobarbituric acid reactive substances and higher salt soluble protein contents were detected in shrimp soaked with high doses of SMB compared with other *** addition,lower counts of total aerobic plates and psychrotrophic bacteria were observed in shrimp treated by soaking with higher doses of SMB than those in control shrimp and shrimp treated with other methods during frozen storage(−18℃).However,the SO2 content of 5%SMB-soaked samples exceeded the maximum allowable limit of 100mgkg−***,the use of 1.5%SMB soaking to treat shrimp results in good antioxidant and antimicrobial effects and,thus,may be suggested to preserve *** under frozen *** results of this study present important guidance on the use of SMB to maintain the quality of marine-trawling shrimp from manufacturing to consumption.

The objective of this study was to improve the toughness of bio-based brittle poly(ethylene 2,5-furandicarboxylate)(PEF) by melt blending with bio-based polyamide11(PA11) in the presence of a reactive multifunctional epoxy compatibilizer(Joncryl ADR?-4368).The morphological,thermal,rheological,and mechanical properties of PEF/PA1 1 blends were *** with neat PEF,the toughness of PEF/PA11 blend was not improved in the absence of the reactive compatibilizer due to the poor compatibility between the two *** Joncryl was incorporated into PEF/PA1 1 blends,the interfacial tension between PEF and PA1 1 was obviously reduced,reflecting in the fine average particle size and narrow distribution of PA11 dispersed phase as observed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The complex viscosities of PEF/PA11 blends with Joncryl were much higher than that of PEF/PA11 blend,which could be ascribed to the formation of graft copolymers through the epoxy groups of Joncryl reacting with the end groups of PEF and PA11 molecular ***,the compatibility and interfacial adhesion between PEF and PA11 were greatly improved in the presence of *** compatibilized PEF/PA11 blend with 1.5 phr Joncryl exhibited significantly improved elongation at break and unnotch impact strength with values of 90.1% and 30.3 kJ/m2,respectively,compared with those of 3.6% and 3.8 kJ/m2for neat PEF,*** work provides an effective approach to improve the toughness of PEF which may expand its widespread application in packaging.

Intensive care units(ICUs)are the high incidence sites of hospital-acquired infections,where impinging jet ventilation(IJV)shows great *** stratification of IJV and its effect on contaminants distribution were systematically investigated in this *** changing the setting of heat source or the air change rates,the main driving force of supply airflow can be transformed between thermal buoyancy and inertial force,which can be quantitatively described by the dimensionless buoyant jet length scale(l_(m)^(-)).For the investigated air change rates,namely 2 ACH to 12 ACH,l_(m)^(-)varies between 0.20 and *** thermal buoyancy plays a dominant role in the movement of the horizontally exhaled airflow by the infector under low air change rate,where the temperature gradient is up to 2.45℃/*** flow center remains close to the breathing zone of the susceptible ahead,resulting into the highest exposure risk(6.6‰for 10-μm particles).With higher heat flux of four PC monitors(from 0 W to 125.85 W for each monitor),the temperature gradient in ICU rises from 0.22℃/m to 1.02℃/m;however,the average normalized concentration of gaseous contaminants in the occupied zone is reduced from 0.81 to 0.37,because their thermal plumes are also able to carry containments around them to the ceiling-level *** the air change rate was increased to 8 ACH(l_(m)^(-)=1.56),high momentum weakened the thermal stratification by reducing the temperature gradient to 0.37℃/m and exhaled flow readily rose above the breathing zone;the intake fraction of susceptible patient located in front of the infector for 10-μm particles reduces to 0.8‰.This study proved the potential application of IJV in ICUs and provides theoretical guidance for its appropriate design.
