Optical Transient Source AT2021lfa:A Possible“Dirty Fireball”

AT2021lfa,also known as ZTF21aayokph,was detected by the Zwicky Transient Facility on 2021 May 4,a 05:34:48 ***-up observations were conducted using a range of ground-based optical telescopes,as wel as Swift/XRT and VLA ***2021lfa is classified as an“orphan afterglow”candidate due to its rapid flux decline and its reddened color(g-r=0.17±0.14 mag).For an optical transient source without promp gamma-ray detection,one key point is to determine its burst *** we measure the burst time through fitting the initial bump feature of AT2021lfa and obtain its burst time as 2021 May 3,at 22:09:50 *** afterglowpy,we model the multi-band afterglow of AT2021lfa and find that the standard model canno reproduce the late radio observations *** that the microphysical parameters ε_(e),ε_(B)(the energy fraction given to electrons and magnetic field),andξN(the fraction of accelerated electrons)may vary with time we then model the afterglow of AT2021lfa taking into account the temporal evolution of the physical parameters ε_(e),ε^(B),and ξ_(N) and find in this case the multi-wavelength observations can be reproduced *** initial Lorentz factor of AT2021lfa can be estimated from the peak time of the early afterglow,which yields a value of about 18 suggesting that AT2021lfa should be classified as a“dirty fireball.”From the upper limit for the prompt emission energy of AT2021lfa,we obtain that the radiation efficiency is less than 0.02%,which is much smaller than that of ordinary gamma-ray bursts(gRBs).It is also interesting that the fitted values of jet angle and viewing angle are very large,θ_(c)~0.66 rad,θ_(v)~0.53 rad,which may lead to the low Lorentz factor and radiation *** compared with gRB afterglow samples,it is evident that the onset bump timescale of AT2021lfa satisfies the empirical relationships observed in gRB ***,the luminosity of AT2021lfa falls within the range of observations for gRB samples;howeve

Synergistic induction of mitotic pyroptosis and tumor remission by inhibiting proteasome and WEE family kinases

Mitotic catastrophe(MC),which occurs under dysregulated mitosis,represents a fascinating tactic to specifically eradicate tumor *** pyroptosis can be a death form of MC remains ***-mediated protein degradation is crucial for ***(BTZ),which inhibits the 20S catalytic particle of proteasome,is approved to treat multiple myeloma and mantle cell lymphoma,but not solid tumors due to primary *** date,whether and how proteasome inhibitor affected the fates of cells in M-phase remains ***,we show that BTZ treatment,or silencing of PSMC5,a subunit of 19S regulatory particle of proteasome,causes g2-and M-phase arrest,multi-polar spindle formation,and consequent caspase-3/gSDME-mediated pyroptosis in M-phase(designated as mitotic pyroptosis).Further investigations reveal that inhibitor of WEE1/PKMYT1(PD0166285),but not inhibitor of ATR,CHK1 or CHK2,abrogates the BTZ-induced g2-phase arrest,thus exacerbates the BTZ-induced mitotic arrest and *** BTZ and PD0166285 treatment(named BP-Combo)selectively kills various types of solid tumor cells,and significantly lessens the IC50 of both BTZ and PD0166285 compared to BTZ or PD0166285 *** using various mouse models show that BP-Combo has much stronger inhibition on tumor growth and metastasis than BTZ or PD0166285 monotreatment,and no obvious toxicity is observed in BP-Combo-treated *** findings disclose the effect of proteasome inhibitors in inducing pyroptosis in M-phase,characterize pyroptosis as a new death form of mitotic catastrophe,and identify dual inhibition of proteasome and WEE family kinases as a promising anti-cancer strategy to selectively kill solid tumor cells.

High fish predation pressure can trigger"induced defense"in daphnia species,resulting in phenotypic plasticity in morphology,behavior,or life-history *** molecular mechanisms of defense morphogenesis(e.g.,the tail spine and helmet)in daphnia remain *** the pres-ent study,the tail spine,helmet,and body of daphnia galeata under fish and non-fish kairomones conditions were collected for transcriptome analysis.A total of 24 candidate genes related to the morphological defense of *** were identified,including 2 trypsin,one cuticle protein,1 C1qDC protein,and 2 ferritin *** function of the dagcut gene(*** cuticle protein gene)in relation to tail spine morphology was assessed using RNA interference(RNAi).Compared with the EgFP(Enhanced green fluorescent protein)treatment,after RNAi,the expression levels of the dagcut gene(*** cuticle protein gene)showed a significant ***,the tail spines of the offspring pro-duced by *** after RNAi of the dagcut gene appeared curved during the *** whole-mount in situ hybridization,a clear signal site was detected on the tail spine of *** before RNAi which disappeared after *** results suggest that the dagcut gene may play an important role in tail spine formation of ***,and will provide a theoretical basis for studying the molecular mechanisms of the morpho-logical plasticityin cladocera inthefuture.

Seawater battery is an advanced energy storage system that enables conversion of chemical energy to electricity by consuming metals,dissolved oxygen and seawater in anode,cathode and electrolyte,***,the oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)activity and stability of electrocatalysts can be easily deactivated due to the severe Cl~-permeation and corrosion in seawater ***,we developed a structural buffer engineering strategy by spontaneously anchoring Cl~-intoα-Co(OH)_(2) as efficient and stable ORR electrocatalysts,in which the ultrathinα-Co(OH)_(2) nanosheets were synthesized using an ultrafast solution high-temperature shock(SHTS)*** large lattice space(~0.8 nm)of layeredα-Co(OH)_(2) ensured the spontaneously penetration of Cl~-into the lattice structure and replaced part of OH~-to formα-Co(OH)_(2-x)Cl_*** continuous leaching and compensating of saturated Cl inα-Co(OH)_(2-x)Cl_x could enhance the Cl~-corrosion resistance and modulate electronic structure of Co metallic sites,thus improving the ORR electrocatalytic activity and stability in seawater ***α-Co(OH)_(2-x)Cl_x seawater batteries display superior onset and half-wave potentials of 0.71 and 0.66 V,respectively,which are much better than the counterparts ofα-Co(OH)_(2) and ofβ-Co(OH)_(2) with no Cl~-penetrating and no buffer ***α-Co(OH)_(2-x)Cl_x-based seawater batteries display stable open-circuit potential of 1.69 V and outstanding specific capacity of 1345 mAh·g^(-1).

Washed microbiota transplantation for Crohn’s disease:A metagenomic,metatranscriptomic,and metabolomic-based study
