Changes in Agricultural System as Farmers Adapt to Economic-Social and Climatic Changes in the Min Upriver Rural Areas in Western Sichuan,Southwestern China

Rapid economic growth in China has brought about great economic-social changes in rural areas, having considerable impact on the society in economy and environment. With a per capita possession of about 0.08 ha of cropland, Chinese farmers in rural areas adopt various ways in response to these changes in a bit to maintain their livelihood, wherein the agricultural system is facing one more options possible. To understand how rural communities have used different mechanisms to adapt to the economic and natural changes, we joined a survey in dry valleys of the Min upriver area under Maoxian county of western Sichuan province, southwestern China and visited the local people. Changes in the main crop cultivation have shown up an important means to keep up their household income. Farm households start seeking economic growth through diversified cultivating of cereal and economic crops in five lines, namely cereal, apple monoculture, apple and vegetables, plum and vegetables, mixed fruits and vegetables. These new lines mirror farmers' flexibility to cope with today's economic-social and climatic changes. The farming operation has changed all the more from a subsistence on grain to special agricultural products. Economic reforms in the early 1980 s motivated theprogress first in conversion of production from grain to fruits, and the desire to increase family income turned out to be an impetus for the subsequent events. At present, more farmers moving out of the rural areas, uneasy availability of labor force, increased opportunity cost of labors and their wages, increased farm size, and the urgent demand for the agricultural labor force, all these combine into the trend of the agricultural system of China on facing further economic-social reforms and reconstruction of the countryside across China.

Insight into the particle shape on the impact of dry granular flow against a rigid barrier: A DEM study

The effect of particle shape on the impact of dry granular flow remains an open area for further investigation. Five distinct particle shapes were examined in this study using discrete element simulations after calibrating the numerical model using a published work. The findings indicated that the particle shape had a significant influence on granular mobility. With negligible variations in normalized kinetic energy between particles of different shapes， the effect of particle shape on the increasing rate of kinetic energy became more obvious. All irregular particle scenarios had longer accumulated particle lengths down the channel than spherical particles. Variations in particle shape led to adjustments in the distribution of impact forces on the barrier. These findings substantially enhance our understanding of the distinctive effects of particle shapes on the impact mechanism of dry granular flow.

Two-dimensional(2D)transition metal carbides(MXene)possess attractive conductivity and abundant surface functional groups,providing immense potential in the field of electromagnetic wave(EMW)***,high conductivity and spontaneous aggregation of MXene suffer from limited EMW *** by dielectric–magnetic synergy effect,the strategy of decorating MXene with magnetic elements is expected to solve this *** this work,zigzag-like Mo_(2)TiC_(2)–MXene nanofibers(Mo-based MXene(Mo–MXene)NFs)with cross-linked networks are fabricated by hydrofluoric acid(HF)etching and potassium hydroxide(KOH)shearing ***,Co-metal–organic framework(MOF)and derived CoNi layered double hydroxide(LDH)ultrathin nanosheets are grown inside Mo–MXene NFs,and the N-doped carbon matrix anchored by CoNi alloy nanoparticles formed by pyrolysis is firmly embedded in the Mo–MXene NFs *** from synergistic effect of highly dispersed small CoNi alloy nanoparticles,a three-dimensional(3D)conductive network assembled by zigzag-like Mo–MXene NFs,numerous N-doped hollow carbon vesicles,and abundant dual heterogeneous interface,the designed Mo–MXene/CoNi–NC heterostructure provides robust EMW absorption ability with a reflection loss(RL)value of−68.45 dB at the thickness(d)of 4.38 *** robust EMW absorption performance can be attributed to excellent dielectric loss,magnetic loss,impedance matching(Z),and multiple scattering and reflection triggered by the unique 3D network *** work puts up great potential in developing advanced MXene-based EMW absorption devices.

CSLabel： An Approach for Labelling Mobile App Reviews

Mobile apps （applications） have become a popular form of software, and the app reviews by users have become an important feedback resource. Users may raise some issues in their reviews when they use apps, such as a functional bug, a network lag, or a request for a feature. Understanding these issues can help developers to focus on users＇ concerns, and help users to evaluate similar apps for download or purchase. However, we do not know which types of issues are raised in a review. Moreover, the amount of user reviews is huge and the nature of the reviews＇ text is unstructured and informal. In this paper, we analyze 3 902 user reviews from 11 mobile apps in a Chinese app store -- 360 Mobile Assistant, and uncover 17 issue types. Then, we propose an approach CSLabel that can label user reviews based on the raised issue types. CSLabel uses a cost-sensitive learning method to mitigate the effects of the imbalanced data, and optimizes the setting of the support vector machine （SVM） classifier＇s kernel function. Results show that CSLabel can correctly label reviews with the precision of 66.5%, the recall of 69.8%, and the F1 measure of 69.8%. In comparison with the state-of-the-art approach, CSLabel improves the precision by 14%, the recall by 30%, the F1 measure by 22%. Finally, we apply our approach to two real scenarios： 1） we provide an overview of 1 076 786 user reviews from 1 100 apps in the 360 Mobile Assistant and 2） we find that some issue types have a negative correlation with users＇ evaluation of apps.

Liquid-based high-temperature receiver technologies for next-generation concentrating solar power:A review of challenges and potential solutions

To reduce the levelized cost of energy for concentrating solar power(CSP),the outlet temperature of the solar receiver needs to be higher than 700°C in the next-generation *** of extensive engineering application experience,the liquid-based receiver is an attractive receiver technology for the next-generation *** review is focused on four of the most promising liquid-based receivers,including chloride salts,sodium,lead-bismuth,and tin *** challenges of these receivers and corresponding solutions are comprehensively reviewed and *** is concluded that combining salt purification and anti-corrosion receiver materials is promising to tackle the corrosion problems of chloride salts at high *** addition,reducing energy losses of the receiver from sources and during propagation is the most effective way to improve the receiver ***,resolving the sodium fire risk and material compatibility issues could promote the potential application of liquid-metal ***,using multiple heat transfer fluids in one system is also a promising way for the next-generation *** example,the liquid sodium is used as the heat transfer fluid while the molten chloride salt is used as the storage *** the end,suggestions for future studies are proposed to bridge the research gaps for>700℃liquid-based receivers.

The protective effects and underlying mechanisms of dapagliflozin on diabetes-induced testicular dysfunction

Male diabetic individuals present a marked impairment in fertility;however,knowledge regarding the pathogenic mechanisms and therapeutic strategies is *** new hypoglycemic drug dapagliflozin has shown certain benefits,such as decreasing the risk of cardiovascular and renal events in patients with *** so,until now,the effects and underlying mechanisms of dapagliflozin on diabetic male infertility have awaited ***,we found that dapagliflozin lowered blood glucose levels,alleviated seminiferous tubule destruction,and increased sperm concentrations and motility in leptin receptor-deficient diabetic db/db ***,the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor(GLP-1R)antagonist exendin(9-39)had no effect on glucose levels but reversed the protective effects of dapagliflozin on testicular structure and sperm quality in db/db *** also found that dapagliflozin inhibited the testicular apoptotic process by upregulating the expression of the antiapoptotic protein B-cell lymphoma 2(BCL2)and X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis protein(XIAP)and inhibiting oxidative stress by enhancing the antioxidant status,including total antioxidant capacity,total superoxide dismutase(SOD)activity,and glutathione peroxidase(GPx)activity,as well as decreasing the level of 4-hydroxynonenal(4-HNE).Exendin(9-39)administration partially reversed these ***,dapagliflozin upregulated the glucagon-like peptide-1(GLP-1)level in plasma and GLP-1R expression by promoting AKT8 virus oncogene cellular homolog(Akt)phosphorylation in testicular ***(9-39)partially inhibited Akt *** results suggest that dapagliflozin protects against diabetes-induced spermatogenic dysfunction via activation of the GLP-1R/phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase(PI3K)/Akt signaling *** results indicate the potential effects of dapagliflozin against diabetes-induced spermatogenic dysfunction.

Staged dendrite suppression for high safe and stable lithium-sulfur batteries

The unavoidable dendrite growth and shuttle effect have long been stranglehold challenges limiting the safety and practicality of lithium-sulfur ***,we propose a dual-action strategy to address the lithium dendrite issue in stages by constructing a multifunctional surface-negatively-charged nanodiamond layer with high ductility and robust puncture resistance on polypropylene （PP） *** uniformly loaded compact negative layer can not only significantly enhance electron transmission efficiency and promote uniform lithium deposition,but also reduce the formation of dendrite during early deposition *** importantly,under the strong puncture stress encountered during the deterioration of lithium dendrite growth under limiting current,the high ductility and robust puncture resistance（145.88 MPa） of as-obtained nanodiamond layer can effectively prevent short circuits caused by unavoidable lithium *** Li||Li symmetrical cells assembled with nanodiamond layer modified PP demonstrated a stable cycle of over 1000 h at 2 mA cm-2with a polarization voltage of only 29.3 ***,the negative charged layer serves as a physical barrier blocking lithium polysulfide ions,effectively mitigating capacity *** improved cells achieved a capacity decay of only 0.042%per cycle after 700 cycles at 3 C,demonstrating effective suppression of dendrite growth and capacity attenuation,showing promising prospect.

We propose to enhance the generation of a phonon laser by exploiting optical superradiance. In our scheme, the optomechanical cavity contains a movable membrane, which supports a mechanical mode, and the superradiance cavity can generate the coherent collective light emissions by applying a transverse pump to an ultracold intracavity atomic gas. The superradiant emission turns out to be capable of enhancing the phonon laser *** indicates a new way to operate a phonon laser with the assistance of coherent atomic gases trapped in a cavity or lattice potentials.

Autophagy plays a protective role in advanced glycation end products-induced apoptosis of chondrocytes via regulation of tumor necrosis factor-α,nuclear factor-κ B and reactive oxygen species

Objective: To study the adverse effects of advanced glycation end products(AGEs) on chondrocytes and the role of autophagy in this process. Methods: Chondrocytes were harvested from the human articular cartilage tissues in surgery. AGEs were administered during chondrocytes culture. The rapamycin was used to induce autophagy. The cell viability was determined by 3-[4,5-dimethylthiazol2-yl]-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide(MTT) *** expression of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α) and nuclear factor-κ B(NF-κ B) was detected by quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction. The reactive oxygen species(ROS) production and apoptosis of the chondrocytes were determined by fluorescent probe and flow cytometer, respectively. Results: The chondrocytes viability was significantly reduced after 12 h incubation with AGEs(Plerated chondrocytes apoptosis and autophagy suspended apoptosis. Conclusions: Accumulation of AGEs may have an adverse role for chondrocytes by increasing TNF-α and NF-κB expression, ROS accumulation and apoptosis; meanwhile, autophagy ameliorates the AGEsinduced adverse effects.
