A Reverse Auction Framework for Hybrid Access in Femtocell Network

In the two-tier macro-femto heterogeneous network, hybrid access is regarded as the most ideal access con- trol approach to mitigating macro-femto cross-tier interference and enhancing overall network performance. However, the implementation of hybrid access is hindered by a lack of incentive market mechanism to motivate private femtocell owners to offer access permissions to macro users. In this paper, we propose a reverse auction framework for access permission transaction between a macrocell operator and multiple femtocell owners to promote hybrid access. Our goal is to maximize social welfare while guaranteeing the truthfulness of the auction. Since the coverage of multiple femtocells may overlap, we partition each cell to adjust the granularity of access permission availability. We first propose a Vickery-Clarke-Grove （VCG）-based mechanism, which costs the least among all auction mechanisms that produce maximum social welfare. As the VCG mechanism is too time-consuming, we propose two alternative truthful mechanisms, namely, generalized second- price and suboptimal mechanism. We further extend the auction framework to the scenario where femtocell owners have heterogeneous valuations for access permissions in different locations.

Using the Inverse of Expected Error Variance to Determine Weights of Individual Ensemble Members： Application to Temperature Prediction

The inverse of expected error variance is utilized to determine weights of individual ensemble members based on the THORPEX （The Observing System Research and Predictability Experiment） Interactive Grand Global Ensemble （TIGGE） forecast datasets. The weights of all ensemble members are thus calculated for summer 2012, with the NCEP final operational global analysis （FNL） data as the truth. Based on the weights of all ensemble members, the variable weighted ensemble mean （VWEM） of temperature of summer 2013 is derived and compared with that from the simple equally weighted ensemble mean. The results show that VWEM has lower root-mean-square error （RMSE） as well as absolute error, and has improved the temperature prediction accuracy. The improvements are quite notable over the Tibetan Plateau and its surrounding areas; specifically, a relative improvement rate of RMSE of more than 24% in 2-m temperature is demonstrated. Moreover, the improvement rates vary slightly with the pre- diction lead-time （24-96 h）. It is suggested that the VWEM approach be employed in operational ensemble predic- tion to provide guidance for weather forecasting and climate prediction.

The Closed Orbits of a Class of Cubic Vector Fields in R^(3)

In this paper,we investigate the isolated closed orbits of two types of cubic vector fields in R^3 by using the idea of central projection transformation,which sets up a bridge connecting the vector field X(x)in R^3 with the planar vector *** have proved that the cubic vector field in R^3 can have two isolated closed orbits or one closed orbit on the invariant *** an application of this result,we have shown that a class of 3-dimensional cubic system has at least 10 isolated closed orbits located on 5 invariant cones,and another type of 3-dimensional cubic system has at least 26 isolated closed orbits located on 13 invariant cones or 26 invariant cones.

Biological control of aflatoxin contamination of crops

Aflatoxins produced primarily by two closely related fungi, Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus, are mutagenic and carcinogenic in animals and humans. Of many approaches investigated to manage aflatoxin contamination, bio-logical control method has shown great promise. Numerous organisms, including bacteria, yeasts and nontoxigenic fungal strains of A. flavus and A. parasiticus, have been tested for their ability in controlling aflatoxin contamination. Great successes in reducing aflatoxin contamination have been achieved by application of nontoxigenic strains of A. flavus and A. parasiticus in fields of cotton, peanut, maize and pistachio. The nontoxigenic strains applied to soil occupy the same niches as the natural occurring toxigenic strains. They, therefore, are capable of competing and displacing toxigenic strains. In this paper, we review recent development in biological control of aflatoxin contamination.

Regularization methods have been substantially applied in image restoration due to the ill-posedness of the image restoration *** assumptions or priors on images are applied in the construction of image regularization *** recent years,matrix low-rank approximation has been successfully introduced in the image denoising problem and significant denoising effects have been ***-rank matrix minimization is an NP-hard problem and it is often replaced with the matrix’s weighted nuclear norm minimization(WNNM).The assumption that an image contains an extensive amount of self-similarity is the basis for the construction of the matrix low-rank approximation-based image denoising *** this paper,we develop a model for image restoration using the sum of block matching matrices’weighted nuclear norm to be the regularization term in the cost *** alternating iterative algorithm is designed to solve the proposed model and the convergence analyses of the algorithm are also *** experiments show that the proposed method can recover the images much better than the existing regularization methods in terms of both recovered quantities and visual qualities.

Dynamics of Soil Organic Carbon Fractions and Aggregates in Vegetable Cropping Systems

Fertilisers significantly affect crop production and crop biomass inputs to soil organic carbon(SOC). However, the long-term effects of fertilisers on C associated with aggregates are not yet fully understood. Based on soil aggregate and SOC fractionation analysis, this study investigated the long-term effects of organic manure and inorganic fertilisers on the accumulation and change in SOC and its fractions, including the C concentrations of free light fraction, intra-aggregate particulate organic matter(POM) and intra-aggregate mineral-associated organic matter(MOM). Long-term manure applications improved SOC and increased the concentrations of some C fractions. Manure also accelerated the decomposition of coarse POM(cPOM) into fine POM(fPOM) and facilitated the transformation of fPOM encrustation into intra-microaggregate POM within macroaggregates. However, the application of inorganic fertilisers was detrimental to the formation of fPOM and to the subsequent encrustation of fPOM with clay particles, thus inhibiting the formation of stable microaggregates within macroaggregates. No significant differences were observed among the inorganic fertiliser treatments in terms of C concentrations of MOM, intra-microaggregate MOM within macroaggregate(imMMOM) and intra-microaggregate MOM(imMOM). However, the long-term application of manure resulted in large increases in C concentrations of MOM(36.35%), imMMOM(456.31%) and imMOM(19.33%) compared with control treatment.

Seasonal and Diurnal Variations of Cloud Systems over the Eastern Tibetan Plateau and East China:A Cloud-resolving Model Study

The seasonal and diurnal variations of cloud systems are profoundly affected by the large-scale and local *** this study,a one-year-long simulation was conducted using a two-dimensional cloud-resolving model over the Eastern Tibetan Plateau(ETP)and two subregions of Eastern China:Southern East China and Central East *** convective clouds(DCCs)rarely occur in the cold season over ETP,whereas DCCs appear in Eastern China throughout the year,and the ETP DCCs are approximately 20%−30%shallower than those over Eastern *** strong rainfall events(precipitation intensity,PI>2.5 mm h−1)in Eastern China are related to warm-season DCCs with ice cloud *** of the high elevation of the ETP,the warm-season freezing level is lower than in Eastern China,providing favorable conditions for ice cloud *** are responsible for the diurnal variations of warm-season rainfall in all three ***-season DCCs over the ETP have the greatest total cloud water content and frequency in the afternoon,resulting in an afternoon rainfall *** addition,rainfall events in the ETP also exhibit a nocturnal peak in spring,summer,and autumn due to *** surface heat fluxes around noon can trigger or promote DCCs in spring,summer,and autumn over the ETP but produce only cumulus clouds in winter due to the cold and dry environment.
