Electroacupuncture at Sensitized Acupoints Relieves Somatic Referred Pain in Colitis Rats by Inhibiting Sympathetic-Sensory Coupling to Interferewith 5-HT Signaling Pathway

Objective:To investigate whether electroacupuncture(EA) at sensitized acupoints could reduce sympathetic-sensory coupling(SSC) and neurogenic inflammatory response by interfering with 5-hydroxytryptamine(5-HT)ergic neural pathways to relieve colitis and somatic referred pain,and explore the underlying mechanisms.Methods:Rats were treated with 5% dextran sodium sulfate(DSS) solution for 7 days to establish a colitis model.Twelve rats were randomly divided into the control and model groups according to a random number table(n=6).According to the Research on Rat Acupoint Atlas",sensitized acupoints and non-sensitized acupoints were determined.Rats were randomly divided into the control,model,Zusanli-EA(ST 36),Dachangshu-EA(BL 25),and Xinshu(BL 15) groups(n=6),as well as the control,model,EA,and EA+GR113808(a 5-HT inhibitor)groups(n=6).The rats in the control group received no treatment.Acupuncture was administered on 2 days after modeling using the stimulation pavameters:1 mA,2 Hz,for 30 min,with sparse and dense waves,for 14 consecutive days.GR113808 was injected into the tail vein at 5 mg/kg before EA for 10 min for 7 consecutive days.Mechanical sensitivity was assessed with von Frey filaments.Body weight and disease activity index(DAI) scores of rats were determined.Hematoxylin and eosin staining was performed to observe colon histopathology.SSC was analyzed by immunofluorescence staining.Immunohistochemical staining was performed to detect 5-HT and substance P(SP) expressions.The calcitonin gene-related peptide(CGRP) in skin tissue and tyrosine hydroxylase(TH) protein levels in DRG were detected by Western blot.The levels of hyaluronic acid(HA),bradykinin(BK),prostaglandin I2(PGI2) in skin tissue,5-HT,tryptophan hydroxylase 1(TPH1),serotonin transporters(SERT),5-HT 3 receptor(5-HT3R),and 5-HT 4 receptor(5-HT4R) in colon tissue were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).Results:BL 25 and ST 36 acupoints were determined as sensitized acupoints,and BL 15 acupoint was used as a non-sensitized acupoint

A Support Data-Based Core-Set Selection Method for Signal Recognition

In recent years,deep learning-based signal recognition technology has gained attention and emerged as an important approach for safeguarding the electromagnetic environment.However,training deep learning-based classifiers on large signal datasets with redundant samples requires significant memory and high costs.This paper proposes a support databased core-set selection method(SD)for signal recognition,aiming to screen a representative subset that approximates the large signal dataset.Specifically,this subset can be identified by employing the labeled information during the early stages of model training,as some training samples are labeled as supporting data frequently.This support data is crucial for model training and can be found using a border sample selector.Simulation results demonstrate that the SD method minimizes the impact on model recognition performance while reducing the dataset size,and outperforms five other state-of-the-art core-set selection methods when the fraction of training sample kept is less than or equal to 0.3 on the RML2016.04C dataset or 0.5 on the RML22 dataset.The SD method is particularly helpful for signal recognition tasks with limited memory and computing resources.

Compatibility evaluation between waterborne epoxy resin and SBR latex modified asphalt emulsion

Good compatibility between waterborne epoxy resin(WER)modifier and styrene-butadiene rubber(SBR)latex modified asphalt emulsion(SBRE)is an essential premise for good pavement performance of WER and SBR latex compositely modified asphalt emulsion(WSAE).This study aims to explore the compatibility between WER modifier and SBRE.To achieve the goal,several WER modifiers produced by two methods were first selected to modify SBRE,thus the WSAEs were prepared.Next,storage stability and workability of the WSAEs themselves,and high-temperature performance,rheological behavior and temperature sensitivity of their evaporated residues were compared and evaluated via performing a series of experiments,respectively,thus the WER modifier possessing an optimal modification effect was recommended.Results show that the storage stability of WSAEs is sensitive to the amount of WERs.The incorporation of 1%WERs by the mass of SBRE improves the storage stability of SBRE,while WERs that exceed 1%weaken its storage stability.When the WERs reach 3%and 4%,the 5 d storage stability of prepared WSAEs will be beyond the limitation of specification.Incorporating WERs into SBRE negatively affects the workability of SBRE,and the workability of WSAEs is adversely influenced by the WERs content and the storage time.To ensure the construction,the WSAEs with 3%and 4%WERs should not be stored for more than 36 h and 48 h,respectively.The WERs effectively improve the high-temperature performance of SBRE residue,especially the 3%WERs.Besides,the WERs notably enhance the rheological property and thermal stability of SBRE residue.In contrast,the WER modifier produced by chemically modified method has a smaller adverse impact on the storage stability and workability of WSAE,and a larger enhancement on the high-temperature performance,rheological property and thermal stability of SBRE residue,which is thus recommended to modify SBRE.

Intestinal failure-associated liver disease(IFALD)is a common complication of long-term parenteral nutrition that is associated with significant morbidity and mortality.It is mainly characterized by cholestasis in children and steatohepatitis in adults.Unfortunately,there is no effective approach to prevent or reverse the disease.Regulated cell death(RCD)represents a fundamental biological paradigm that determines the outcome of a variety of liver diseases.Nowadays cell death is reclassified into several types,based on the mechanisms and morphological phenotypes.Emerging evidence has linked different modes of RCD,such as apoptosis,necroptosis,ferroptosis,and pyroptosis to the pathogenesis of liver diseases.Recent studies have shown that different modes of RCD are present in animal models and patients with IFALD.Understanding the pathogenic roles of cell death may help uncover the underlying mechanisms and develop novel therapeutic strategies in IFALD.In this review,we discuss the current knowledge on how RCD may link to the pathogenesis of IFALD.We highlight examples of cell death-targeted interventions aiming to attenuate the disease,and provide perspectives for future basic and translational research in the field.

ELABELA-derived peptide ELA13 attenuates kidney fibrosis by inhibiting the Smad and ERK signaling pathways

Kidney fibrosis is an inevitable result of various chronic kidney diseases(CKDs)and significantly contributes to end-stage renal failure.Currently,there is no specific treatment available for renal fibrosis.ELA13(amino acid sequence:RRCMPLHSRVPFP)is a conserved region of ELABELA in all vertebrates;however,its biological activity has been very little studied.In the present study,we evaluated the therapeutic effect of ELA13 on transforming growth factor-β1(TGF-β1)-treated NRK-52E cells and unilateral ureteral occlusion(UUO)mice.Our results demonstrated that ELA13 could improve renal function by reducing creatinine and urea nitrogen content in serum,and reduce the expression of fibrosis biomarkers confirmed by Masson staining,immunohistochemistry,real-time polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR),and western blot.Inflammation biomarkers were increased after UUO and decreased by administration of ELA13.Furthermore,we found that the levels of essential molecules in the mothers against decapentaplegic(Smad)and extracellular signal-regulated kinase(ERK)pathways were reduced by ELA13 treatment in vivo and in vitro.In conclusion,ELA13 protected against kidney fibrosis through inhibiting the Smad and ERK signaling pathways and could thus be a promising candidate for anti-renal fibrosis treatment.

Synthesis of granulated Li_(1.33)Mn_(1.67)O_(4) via two antisolvent methods for lithium adsorption from gas-produced water

Gas-produced water is an accompanying wastewater in the natural gas extraction process,and it is a potential liquid lithium resource that contains a considerable amount of lithium.This study investigated the feasibility of using manganese-based ion sieves to adsorb and extract lithium from gas-produced water.And we focused on the applicability of two different granulation methods,extrusion and droplet,in gas-produced water systems.Two types of H_(1.33)Mn_(1.67)O_(4) particles were prepared by the extrusion method(EHMO)and the droplet method(DHMO).The porosity of DHMO was much higher than that of EHMO,and the adsorption performance of DHMO increased with the decrease of binder concentration.DHMO prepared with a binder concentration of 0.14 g·ml^(-1)exhibited the best adsorption performance in gas-produced water,and the Li^(+)adsorption capacity could reach 25.14 mg·g^(-1).In gas-produced water,the adsorption equilibrium of DHMO only took 9 h,and the adsorption process conformed to the Langmuir model and pseudo-second-order kinetic model.The pore diffusion model(PDM)could well describe its adsorption process.Besides,DHMO showed a great selectivity to Li^(+),and the selectivity order of DHMO in gas-produced water was Li^(+)>Ba^(2+)>>Mg^(2+),Ca^(2+),Sr^(2+)>>Na^(+)>>K^(+).After 20 cycles,the Li^(+)adsorption capacity was still higher than 17.30 mg·g^(-1),and the rate of manganese dissolution was less than 1%.

An initial investigation of the non-isotropic feature of GNSS tropospheric delay

Tropospheric delay is a significant error source in Global Navigation Satellite Systems(GNSS)positioning.Slant Path Delay(SPD)is commonly derived by multiplying Zenith Tropospheric Delay(ZTD)with a mapping function.However,mapping functions,assuming atmospheric isotropy,restrict the accuracy of derived SPDs.To improve the accuracy,a horizontal gradient correction is introduced to account for azimuth-dependent SPD variations,treating the atmosphere as anisotropic.This study uncovers that,amidst atmospheric dynamics and spatiotemporal changes in moisture content,the SPD deviates from that based on traditional isotropy or anisotropy assumption.It innovatively introduces the concept that SPD exhibits non-isotropy with respect to azimuth angles.Hypothesis validation involves assessing SPD accuracy using three mapping functions at five International GNSS Service(IGS)stations,referencing the SPD with the ray-tracing method.It subsequently evaluates the SPD accuracy with horizontal gradient correction based on Vienna Mapping Function 3(VMF3)estimation.Lastly,the non-isotropic of SPD is analyzed through the ray-tracing method.The results indicate the smallest residual(1.1–82.7 mm)between the SPDs with VMF3 and those with the ray-tracing.However,introducing horizontal gradient correction yields no significant improvement of SPD accuracy.Considering potential decimeter-level differences in SPD due to non-isotropic tropospheric delay across azimuth angles,a precise grasp and summary of these variations is pivotal for accurate tropospheric delay modeling.This finding provides vital support for future high-precision tropospheric delay modeling.

Degradation of Rhodamine B by MnFe-LDH/PMS/O_(3) three-phase catalytic system: performance, mechanism and ecotoxicity studies

This study developed a novel MnFe-LDH/PMS/O3 three-phase catalytic system to degrade the organic dye RhB, which was used to address the drawbacks of persulfate oxidation and ozonation techniques. The structure, ionic and elemental composition, specific surface area, and magnetic properties of the LDHs were investigated using a variety of physicochemical characterization tools. The results showed that MnFe-LDH had a large specific surface area, a rich crystalline phase composition, and a functional group structure. The RhB degradation rate of MnFe-LDH/PMS/O3 was 0.34 min−1, which was much higher than that of other comparative systems. RhB could be completely degraded in 10 min after optimization and had a significant effect on TOC removal. The system was found to be effective over a wide pH range. Common anions were largely unaffected and humic acid acted as an inhibitor. At the same time, the system had generally effective degradation performance for different dyes. Combined with quenching experiments and EPR, it was found that SO4•−, •OH, O_(2)•−, and 1O_(2) all participated in the reaction, and •OH contributed more. The degradation pathway of RhB was derived by LC-MS, and the T.E.S.T. evaluation found that the toxicity of the intermediate product was significantly reduced. Finally, the stability and availability of LDHs were verified using cycling experiments and metal ion leaching. This work provides a theoretical basis and data support for the synergistic catalysis of PMS/O3 and the deep treatment of dye wastewater.

Mars exploration——In situ K-Ar dating of jarosite

To accurately determine the chronological framework of climatic variations recorded by various Martian terrains, the absolute ages of Martian events and cratering rate need to be constrained by either in situ dating or returned samples. In situ K-Ar dating is currently a more plausible dating technique as compared with sample return. Jarosite(KFe_(3)[SO_(4)]_(2)[OH]_(6)) is the only confirmed K sulfate mineral that is widely present on Mars, as indicated by in situ detection, orbital remote sensing, and meteorite studies. Jarosite can be used for precise K-Ar and (40)Ar/(39)Ar dating. The preservation of jarosite on Mars provides information about the nature and duration of aqueous processes on the Martian surface. Different ages of Martian jarosite represent the key to constraining the transition from Martian surface water activity to arid climatic conditions. This paper summarizes recent advances in our knowledge of the spatial distribution of Martian jarosite, its mineralogical properties and stability on Mars, the Ar diffusion kinetics of jarosite, and the current status of in situ K-Ar dating. Moreover, we examine the key scientific issues to be addressed for in situ K-Ar dating of jarosite and Martian sample return missions, and discuss future research directions.

Hydroxysafflor yellow A induced ferroptosis of Osteosarcoma cancer cells by HIF-1α/HK2 and SLC7A11 pathway

Osteosarcoma is a very serious primary bone cancer with a high death rate and a dismal prognosis.Since there is no permanent therapy for this condition,it is necessary to develop a cure.Therefore,this investigation was carried out to assess the impacts and biological functions of hydroxysafflor yellow A(HYSA)in osteosarcoma cell lines(MG63).In this investigational study,MG63 cells were utilized.Microarray experiments,quantitative polymerase chain reaction(qPCR),immunofluorescent staining,extracellular acidification rate(ECAR),oxygen consumption rate(OCR),glucose consumption,lactate production,and ATP levels,proliferation assay,5-Ethynyl-2′-deoxyuridine(EDU)staining,and Western blot were performed.In MG63 cells,HYSA lowered cell proliferation and metastasis rates,suppressed EDU cell number,and enhanced caspase-3/9 activity levels.HYSA reduced the Warburg effect and induced ferroptosis(FPT)in MG63 cells.Inhibiting ferroptosis diminished HYSA’s anti-cancer activities in MG63 cells.The stimulation of the HIF-1α/SLC7A11 pathway decreased HYSA’s anti-cancer activities in MG63 cells.HIF-1αis one target spot for HYSA in a model of osteosarcoma cancer(OC).HYSA altered HIF-1α’s thermophoretic activity;following binding with HYSA,HIF-1α’s melting point increased from~55°C to~60°C.HYSA significantly enhanced the thermal stability of exogenous WT HIF-1αwhile not affecting Mut HIF-1α,suggesting that ARG-311,GLY-312,GLN-347,and GLN-387 may be involved in the interaction between HIF-1αand HYSA.Conclusively,our study revealed that HYSA induced FPT and reduced the Warburg effect of OC through mitochondrial damage by HIF-1α/HK2/SLC7A11 pathway.HYSA is a possible therapeutic option for OC or other cancers.
