In this paper,tannic acid(TA)and Fe~(3+)were added to form a layer of metal-polyphenol network structure on the surface of the nanoparticles which were fabricated by zein and carbon quantum dots(CQDs)encapsulating phlorotannins(PTN).pH-Responsive nanoparticles were prepared successfully(zein-PTN-CQDs-Fe-~Ⅲ).Further,the formation of composite nanoparticles was confirmed by a series of characterization methods.The zeta-potential and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy data proved that electrostatic interaction and hydrogen bonding are dominant forces to form nanoparticles.The encapsulation efficiency(EE)revealed that metal-polyphenol network structure could improve the EE of PTN.Thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry experiment indicated the thermal stability of zein-PTN-CQDs-Fe~Ⅲnanoparticles increased because of metal-polyphenol network structure.The pH-responsive nanoparticles greatly increased the release rate of active substances and achieved targeted release.

Ballistic Missile Trajectory Prediction(BMTP)is critical to air defense systems.Most Trajectory Prediction(TP)methods focus on the coast and reentry phases,in which the Ballistic Missile(BM)trajectories are modeled as ellipses or the state components are propagated by the dynamic integral equations on time scales.In contrast,the boost-phase TP is more challenging because there are many unknown forces acting on the BM in this phase.To tackle this difficult problem,a novel BMTP method by using Gaussian Processes(GPs)is proposed in this paper.In particular,the GP is employed to train the prediction error model of the boost-phase trajectory database,in which the error refers to the difference between the true BM state at the prediction moment and the integral extrapolation of the BM state.And the final BMTP is a combination of the dynamic equation based numerical integration and the GP-based prediction error.Since the trained GP aims to capture the relationship between the numerical integration and the unknown error,the modified BM state prediction is closer to the true one compared with the original TP.Furthermore,the GP is able to output the uncertainty information of the TP,which is of great significance for determining the warning range centered on the predicted BM state.Simulation results show that the proposed method effectively improves the BMTP accuracy during the boost phase and provides reliable uncertainty estimation boundaries.

Crop plant architecture is an important agronomic trait that contributes greatly to crop yield.Tiller angle is one of the most critical components that determine crop plant architecture,which in turn substantially af-fects grain yield mainly owing to its large influence on plant density.Gravity is a fundamental physical force that acts on all organisms on earth.Plant organs sense gravity to control their growth orientation,including tiller angle in rice(Oryza sativa).This review summarizes recent research advances made using rice tiller angle as a research model,providing insights into domestication of rice tiller angle,genetic regulation of rice tiller angle,and shoot gravitropism.Finally,we propose that current discoveries in rice can shed light on shoot gravitropism and improvement of plant tiller/branch angle in other species,thereby contributing to agricultural production in the future.

The geometric phase has the intrinsic property of being resistant to some types of local noises as it only depends on global properties of the evolution path. Meanwhile, the non-Abelian geometric phase is in the matrix form, and thus can naturally be used to implement high performance quantum gates,i.e., the so-called holonomic quantum computation. This article reviews recent advances in nonadiabatic holonomic quantum computation, and focuses on various optimal control approaches that can improve the gate performance, in terms of gate fidelity and robustness. Besides, we also pay special attention to its possible physical realizations and some concrete examples of experimental realizations. Finally, with all these efforts, within state-of-the-art technology, the performance of the implemented holonomic quantum gates can outperform the conventional dynamical ones, under certain conditions.

A chemical composite plating of Ni-B_(4)C was used to prepare the surface-modified zirconia toughened alumina(ZTA)ceramic particles.The ceramic preforms were prepared by the plated ZTA and sodium silicate solution binder,followed by casting infiltration to prepare the ZTA particles reinforced high chromium cast iron(HCCI)composites.The result reveals that a distinct interface layer forms at the ZTA/HCCI interface,which consists of phases of ZrB_(2),FeB,Fe_(2)B,and NaSiO_(4).The interfacial wettability between ZTA and HCCI is improved by the diffusion and reaction of Ni and B_(4)C.The wear test reveals that the Ni-B_(4)C plated ZTA particles can effectively improve the wear resistance of the ZTA/HCCI composite,and the wear rate of the composite is decreased to 11.6%of HCCI.

Rapid alkalinization factors(RALFs)in plants have been reported to dampen pathogenassociated molecular pattern(PAMP)-triggered immunity via suppressing PAMP-induced complex formation between the pattern recognition receptor(PRR)and its co-receptor BAK1.However,the direct and positive role of RALFs in plant immunity remains largely unknown.Herein,we report the direct and positive roles of a typical RALF,RALF22,in plant immunity.RALF22alone directly elicited a variety of typical immune responses and triggered resistance against the devastating necrotrophic fungal pathogen Sclerotinia sclerotiorum in a FERONIA(FER)-dependent manner.LORELEI(LRE)-like glycosylphosphatidylinositol(GPI)-anchored protein 1(LLG1)and NADPH oxidase RBOHD were required for RALF22-elicited reactive oxygen species(ROS)generation.The mutation of cysteines conserved in the C terminus of RALFs abolished,while the constitutive formation of two disulfide bridges between these cysteines promoted the RALF22-elicited ROS production and resistance against S.sclerotiorum,demonstrating the requirement of these cysteines in the functions of RALF22 in plant immunity.Furthermore,RALF22 amplified the Pep3-induced immune signal by dramatically increasing the abundance of PROPEP3 transcript and protein.Supply with RALF22 induced resistance against S.sclerotiorum in Brassica crop plants.Collectively,our results reveal that RALF22 triggers immune responses and augments the Pep3-induced immune signal in a FER-dependent manner,and exhibits the potential to be exploited as an immune elicitor in crop protection.

The kidneys are a vital organ that is vulnerable to both acute kidney injury(AKI)and chronic kidney disease(CKD)which can be caused by numerous risk factors such as ischemia,sepsis,drug toxicity and drug overdose,exposure to heavy metals,and diabetes.In spite of the advances in our understanding of the pathogenesis of AKI and CKD as well AKI transition to CKD,there is still no available therapeutics that can be used to combat kidney disease effectively,highlighting an urgent need to further study the pathological mechanisms underlying AKI,CKD,and AKI progression to CKD.In this regard,animal models of kidney disease are indispensable.This article reviews a widely used animal model of kidney disease,which is induced by folic acid(FA).While a low dose of FA is nutritionally beneficial,a high dose of FA is very toxic to the kidneys.Following a brief description of the procedure for disease induction by FA,major mechanisms of FA-induced kidney injury are then reviewed,including oxidative stress,mitochondrial abnormalities such as impaired bioenergetics and mitophagy,ferroptosis,pyroptosis,and increased expression of fibroblast growth factor 23(FGF23).Finally,application of this FA-induced kidney disease model as a platform for testing the efficacy of a variety of therapeutic approaches is also discussed.Given that this animal model is simple to create and is reproducible,it should remain useful for both studying the pathological mechanisms of kidney disease and identifying therapeutic targets to fight kidney disease.

Gas-phase catalytic hydration of I_(2)O_(5) in the polluted coastal regions:Reaction mechanisms and atmospheric implications

Marine aerosols play an important role in the global aerosol system.In polluted coastal regions,ultra-fine particles have been recognized to be related to iodine-containing species and is more serious due to the impact of atmospheric pollutants.Many previous studies have identified iodine pentoxide(I_(2)O_(5),IP)to be the key species in new particles formation(NPF)in marine regions,but the role of IP in the polluted coastal atmosphere is far to be fully understood.Considering the high humidity and concentrations of pollutants in the polluted coastal regions,the gas-phase hydration of IP catalyzed by sulfuric acid(SA),nitric acid(NA),dimethylamine(DMA),and ammonia(A)have been investigated at DLPNO-CCSD(T)//ωB97 XD/aug-cc-pVTZ+aug-cc-pVTZ-PP with ECP28 MDF(for iodine)level of theory.The results show that the hydration of IP involves a significant energy barrier of 22.33 kcal/mol,while the pollutants SA,NA,DMA,and A all could catalyze the hydration of IP.Especially,with SA and DMA as catalysts,the hydration reactions of IP present extremely low barriers and high rate constants.It is suggested that IP is unstable under the catalysis of SA and DMA to generate iodic acid,which is the key component in NPF in marine regions.Thus,the catalytic hydration of IP is very likely to trigger the formation of iodine-containing particles.Our research provides a clear picture of the catalytic hydration of IP as well as theoretical guidance for NPF in the polluted coastal atmosphere.
