Fuelwood assessment at the micro-watershed level:a case study in Garhwal Himalaya,India

Biomass,as fuelwood,is one of the major sources of energy in rural areas,especially in the mountainous regions of the *** the increasing human population exerts more pressure on the forest thereby inducing an adverse effect on the sustainability of the ecosystem,which consequently causes fuelwood crisis at a local level,this crisis is spatio-temporal in ***,the major objective of this study is to assess the sustainability of fuelwood at different probable scenarios at a micro watershed *** present study was conducted in the Phakot watershed,the Tehri Garhwal district of central Himalaya in India,during *** on the vegetation composition in the study area,the net primary productivity(NPP)value of the Oak forest,and mixed oak and sal forests,was used for the quantification of fuelwood availability in evergreen and deciduous forests,*** fuelwood demand was calculated on the basis of seasonal fuelwood consumption *** probable permutations for availability-demand scenarios assuming the existence of high(H),low(L)and average(A)conditions were analyzed for evaluating the *** available annual harvestable fuelwood in the watershed is in the minimum and maximum ranges of 2283.28 to 4066.00 tons,respectively,per year whereas it has a demand of 110.76 tons as the minimum to 3659 tons as the maximum *** shows that in the current availabilitydemand scenario,the watershed does not have fuelwood crisis in the present situation but needs to maintain the sustainability of the *** on our study,it is concluded that,globally,more spatio-temporal study is required to understand the issues at the local level.

In this article,we explored the role of adipose tissue,especially mesenteric adipose tissue and creeping fat,and its association with the gut microbiota in the pathophysiology and progression of crohn’s disease(cD).cD is a form of inflammatory bowel disease characterized by chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract,influenced by genetic predisposition,gut microbiota dysbiosis,and environmental *** microbiota plays a crucial role in modulating immune response and intestinal inflammation and is associated with the onset and progression of ***,visceral adipose tissue,particularly creeping fat,a mesenteric adipose tissue characterized by hypertrophy and fibrosis,has been implicated in cD pathogenesis,inflammation,and *** bacteria from the gut microbiota may translocate into mesenteric adipose tissue,contributing to the formation of creeping fat and influencing cD *** creeping fat may be a protective barrier against bacterial invasion,its expansion can damage adjacent tissues,leading to *** gut microbiota through interventions such as fecal microbiota transplantation,probiotics,and prebiotics has shown potential in managing ***,more research is needed to clarify the mechanisms linking gut dysbiosis,creeping fat,and cD progression and develop targeted therapies for microbiota modulation and fat-related complications in patients with cD.

This paper presents an adaptive human-machine interface(HMI)that can provide appropriate sets of digital maintenanceinformation and guidance to an operator during *** takes into consideration the expertise level of the operator and the maintenance context and *** proposed human-centric methodology considers the heart rate,intention,and expertise level of the operator,which can be captured using sensors during maintenance.A set of rules is formulated based on the sensor data to infer the state of the operator during a maintenance *** on the operator state,the adaptive HMI can augment the operator's senses using a scheme that combines visual,audio,and haptic guidance cues during maintenance to enhance the operator's ability to perceive information and perform maintenance *** schemes of visual,audio,and haptic cues are developed based on a comparison of the best practices obtained from experienced operators.

One of the main concerns in cyclic behavior of soft clay is gradual degradation with the progression of loading cycle.A series of cyclic constant-volume direct simple shear(cDss) loading tests was performed on Malaysia offshore clay to study its undrained *** testing program consists of stresscontrolled tests with cyclic shear ratio ranging from 0.34 to 0.83 at different overconsolidation ratios(OcRs).For a given cyclic stress ratio in stress-controlled tests,the accumulated cyclic strain and pore water pressure increase with elevated number of *** heavily overconsolidated clay specimens,the negative cyclic pore water pressure is generated followed by positive cyclic pore water pressure as cyclic tests *** post-cyclic strength of offshore clay specimens is reduced by undrained cyclic stresscontrolled loading.

Relation between etching profile and voltage-current shape of sintered sic etching by atmospheric pressure plasma

An Inverse Approach for Extracting Elastic-plastic Properties of Thin Films from small scale sharp Indentation

An inverse method for extracting the elastic-plastic properties of metallic thin films from instrumented sharp indentation has been proposed in terms of dimensional analysis and finite element modeling. A wide range of materials with different elastic modulus, yield strength, and strain-hardening exponent were *** to the Nix-Gao model for the depth dependence of hardness H,the relationship between elastic modulus E and indentation depth h can be expressed as By combiningthese two formulas, we find that there is a relationship between yield stress and indentation depth h：where σyO is the yield strength associated with the strain-hardening exponent n, the true hardness Ho and the true elastic modulus *** constant, whichis only related to n, and hH and hE are characteristic lengths for hardness and elastic modulus. The results obtained from inverse analysis show that the elastic-plastic properties of thin films can be uniquely extracted from the solution of this relationship when the indentation size effect has to be taken into account.

A new design of dual-constituent triangular lattice metamaterial with unbounded thermal expansion

Triangular lattice metamaterials composed of bi-layer curved rib elements (called the Lehman-Lakes lattice) possess unbounded thermal expansion, high stiffness and impossibility of thermal buckling, which are highly desirable in many engineering structural applications subjected to large fluctuations in temperature. However, the requirement of such lattice metamaterial is that it must be a hinged joint in order to achieve the bending deformation upon heating freely, which directly leads to poor manufacturability, especially in small dimensions. In this study, a new design of dual-constituent triangular lattice metamaterial (DTLM) with good manufacturability is proposed to achieve the identical unbounded thermal expansion. In this lattice, a special bi-layer curved rib element where layer one is partially covered by layer two is presented, where the hinge joints are not necessary because the flexural rigidity in the single-layer part is much smaller than that in the bi-layer part, and the desirable thermal bending deformation can be achieved. A sample fabricated by additive manufacturing is given in order to show the good manufacturability;simultaneously, the multifunctional performance of the tailored DTLM with zero, large positive or negative coefficient of thermal expansion (cTE) can remain excellent, as well as the Lehman-Lakes lattice. Examples illustrate that the DTLM with zero cTE has about 34.2% improvement in stiffness and meanwhile has 17% reduction in weight compared with the Lehman-Lakes lattice. The stiffness of the DTLM has a moderate reduction when achieving the same large positive or negative cTE. In addition, the thermomechanical properties of the DTLM are given by the closed-form analytical solution and their effectiveness is verified by the detailed numerical simulation.

We propose and demonstrate a passively mode-locked erbium-doped fiber laser(EDFL)based on zinc-oxide/polydimethylsiloxane(ZnO/PDMs)saturable absorber(sA)that evanescently interacts with the light on a tapered *** ZnO/PDMs composite is coated on the whole surface of the tapered fiber to guarantee the maximum efficiency of the sA device,with a measured insertion loss of 0.87 dB and a modulation depth of 6.4%.The proposed laser can generate soliton mode-locking operation at a threshold power of 33.07 *** generated output pulse yields a repetition rate and pulse width of 9.77 MHz and 1.03 ps,*** results indicate that the proposed ZnO/PDMs-clad tapered fiber could be useful as an efficient,compatible,and low-cost sA device for ultrafast laser applications.
