This study is concerned with the three-dimensional(3D)stagnation-point for the mixed convection flow past a vertical surface considering the first-order and secondorder velocity *** the authors’knowledge,this is the first study presenting this very interesting *** partial differential equations for the flow problem are transformed into nonlinear ordinary differential equations(ODEs)by using appropriate similarity *** ODEs with the corresponding boundary conditions are numerically solved by utilizing the bvp4c solver in MATLAB programming *** effects of the governing parameters on the non-dimensional velocity profiles,temperature profiles,skin friction coefficients,and the local Nusselt number are presented in detail through a series of graphs and ***,it is reported that the reduced skin friction coefficient decreases for the assisting flow situation and increases for the opposing flow *** numerical computations of the present work are compared with those from other research available in specific situations,and an excellent consensus is *** exciting feature for this work is the existence of dual *** important remark is that the dual solutions exist for both assisting and opposing flows.A linear stability analysis is performed showing that one solution is stable and the other solution is not *** notice that the mixed convection and velocity slip parameters have strong effects on the flow *** effects are depicted in graphs and discussed in this *** obtained results show that the first-order and second-order slip parameters have a considerable effect on the flow,as well as on the heat transfer characteristics.

Extrahepatic metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma to the paravertebral muscle:A case report

Identification of extrahepatic metastases(EHM) of hepatocellular carcinoma(Hcc) has been paradoxically increasing due to an increase in the survival of Hcc patients. However, metastasis of Hcc to the skeletal muscle tissue is extremely rare. We describe a unique case of Hcc metastasizing to the paravertebral muscle. A 55-year-old man with a history of hepatitis B cirrhosis underwent partial liver resection with complete removal of Hcc. Three months later, a computed tomography(cT) scan showed intrahepatic recurrence. The tumors were treated with yttrium-90 microspheres, transcatheter arterial chemoembolization, and sorafenib. Six months later, a cT scan showed an enhancing lesion of the left paravertebral muscle that on biopsy were consistent with metastatic Hcc. The tumor was treated with stereotactic hypo-fractionated imageguided radiation therapy(SHFRT). A follow-up scan 3 mo post-radiotherapy revealed a stable appearance of the paravertebral muscle metastasis. Because of the progression in the intrahepatic tumors, the patient was treated with capecitabine, which was changed to dasatinib 6 mo later. The patient passed away three years after the primary surgical resection. Management of EHM poses an extreme challenge. This is the first case of Hcc with EHM to the paravertebral muscle in which stability of disease was achieved using SHFRT. This case highlights the importance of early detection of hepatitis B viral infection and initiation of anti-viral therapy to decrease recurrence of Hcc and prevent EHM.

Sepsis and the blood-brain barrier(BBB):Sepsis is a life threatening systemic inflammatory condition involving multi-organ *** World Health Organization estimates that about 30 million people are affected by sepsis every year,and at least 6 million people die from sepsis each *** of approximately 24 million sepsis survivors,it is estimated that 70%of these individuals will experience some form of long-term neurological impairment(Iwashyna et al.,2010).Thus,when combined with prevention,diagnosis,and therapeutic management strategies,a functional understanding of the mechanisms that promote sepsis-associated neurological impairment is necessary to address the clinical challenges and economic burdens faced when treating sepsis.

Liquid crystalline polymer-polyamide 66 (LcP/PA66) blends were compounded by using a Brabender mixing followed by compression moulding. The LcP employed was a semi-flexible liquid crystalline copolyesteramide based on 30% (molar fraction ) of p-amino benzoic acid (ABA ) and 70% (molar fraction) of poly (ethylene terephthalate) (PET). The LcP/PA66 blends were investigated in terms of the thermal and dynamic mechanical properties. It was found that PA66 and LcP components of the blends are miscible in the molten state, but are partially miscible in the solid state. The inclusion of the semi-flexible LcP into PA66 retards the crystallization rate of PA66. Furthermore, the melting temperature and the degree of crystallinity of PA66 are reduced considerably due to the LcP addition.

Sawdust was subjected to torrefaction in a "semi-batch" slot-rectangular spouted bed (SRSB) reactor at temperatures from 240 to 330℃ and biomass feed rates from 220 to 710g/*** spouting of the sawdust was achieved in the slot-rectangular spouted bed,although the pressure drop across the reactor was observed to *** to the biomass feed rate,the temperature had a greater effect on the biomass weight loss and energy *** in temperature were found to promote weight loss of the sawdust while decreasing the energy *** main solid product was the torrefied sawdust,which remained in the SRSB reactor and was captured by a *** ratio of the torrefied biomass removed by the cyclone to the total torrefied biomass increased along with both the feed rate and *** undergoing torrefaction,6.7%-39.2% of the original sawdust mass was lost while 67.4%-98.7% of its energy was *** torrefied sawdust had a higher carbon content but less oxygen,hydrogen and volatiles,along with a greater higher heating value and increased density compared to the raw *** size of the sawdust particles also decreased markedly during the torrefaction process.

Myeloid cells,such as neutrophils,are produced in the bone marrow in high quantities and are important in the pathogenesis of vascular diseases such as pulmonary hypertension(PH).Although neutrophil recruitment into sites of inflammation has been well studied,the mechanisms of neutrophil egress from the bone marrow are not well *** computational flow cytometry,we observed increased neutrophils in the lungs of patients and mice with ***,we found elevated levels of IL-6 in the blood and lungs of patients and mice with *** observed that transgenic mice overexpressing Il-6 in the lungs displayed elevated neutrophil egress from the bone marrow and exaggerated neutrophil recruitment to the lungs,resulting in exacerbated pulmonary vascular remodeling,and dysfunctional ***,we found that IL-6-induced neutrophil egress from the bone marrow was dependent on interferon regulatory factor 4(IRF-4)-mediated cX3cR1 expression in ***,cx3cr1 genetic deficiency in hematopoietic cells in Il-6-transgenic mice significantly reduced neutrophil egress from bone marrow and decreased neutrophil counts in the lungs,thus ameliorating pulmonary remodeling and *** summary,these findings define a novel mechanism of IL-6-induced neutrophil egress from the bone marrow and reveal a new therapeutic target to curtail neutrophil-mediated inflammation in pulmonary vascular disease.

china＇s recent surge in trade has been associated with its deepening but contrasting trade relations with its two groups of key trading partners. On the one hand, china＇ s trade surpluses with the USA and the EU have risen rapidly, reaching US$144bn and US$91bn in 2006, respectively. On the other hand, china is importing heavily from its Asian neighbors. This diverging pattern of trade relations between china and its main trading partners reflects the continuous expansion and intensification of a complex cross-border production network in Asia, particularly for consumer electronics. In the process of deepening manufacturing sharing, china serves as an essential export platform for firms headquartered in the more advanced economies. These firms export intermediate goods from the relatively more advanced Asian economies to their affiliates in china where these inputs are assembled and then shipped to key export markets, including primarily the USA and the EU. One apparent outcome of the growing processing and assembly trade is the increased interdependency among Asian economies, which are now more dependent on each other than ever. It has also led to substantial structural changes and technological upgrading in china＇ s traded goods.
