Effects of water flow volume on the isolation of bacteria from motion sensor faucets

Water outlets for washing hands and medical equipment are essential for preventing hospital infection. The present study.clarified the effects of water flow volume on the identification and quantitative evaluation of bacteria found around spouts in the 17 hand-washing stations. Pseu-domonas aeruginosa was detected from 4 sta-tions before adjustment and 2 after adjustment. Although no significant difference was identified in the detection rate of P. aeruginosa (p = 0.368), when combining P. aeruginosa and glucose non-fermentative Gram-negative bacilli (NFB), the number of stations with P. aeruginosa and/or NFB decreased significantly.from 15 before adjustment to 9 after adjustment (p = 0.023). Before adjust-ment, quantity.of bacteria was “2+” for 3 stations and “1+” for 7 stations, but was “1+” for 3 stations and “2+” for 0 stations after adjustment. These results show that quantity.of bacteria could be reduced from spouts by.adjusting flow volume. These results were also supported by.experiments for cleanliness using Adenosine 5’-triphosphate bioluminescence me- thod.

OBJECTIVE To observe the effect of granulocy.e-colony.stimulating factor (G-CSF) on differentiation and proliferation of CD34+ cells from peripheral blood in presence of recombinant hematopoietic growth factor (HGF).METHODS Peripheral blood mononuclear cells mobilized by.G-CSF were obtained from patients suffering from carcinoma, preparing for autologous bone marrow transplantation. CD34+ cells were isolated by.derivatized poly.ty.ene tissue culture flask which had covalently.immobilized soy.ean agglutinin lectin and was coated with anti-CD34 antibody. and this kind of cells were incubated in liquid culture medium for up to 28 day. under the stimulation of combination of growth factors, i.e., stem cell factor (SCF) and interleukin-3 (IL-3) with or without G-CSF. The changes of nucleated cells, colony.forming unit-granulocy.e and monocy.e (CFU-GM), burst forming unit-ery.hrocy.e (BFU-E), colony.forming unit-megakary.cy.e (CFU-MK), and my.loid-associated markers were *** An increase of nucleated cells (mean 640-fold increase) occurred during culture CFU-GM production is parallel to the nucleated cell production until the 11th day.(mean 82-fold increase) in combination of 3 HGF, i.e., G-CSF, IL-3 and SCF. A large number of cells expressing late my.loid markers appeared on the 11th day.in suspension culture of CD34+ *** G-CSF was found to sy.ergize with IL-3 and SCF in inducing rapid proliferation of purified CD34+ cells and differentiation to multiple my.loid lineages. The stroma-free, cy.okine-driven culture sy.tem could achieve a degree of amplification of colony.forming cells, suggesting the feasibility.of culture of hematopoietic progenitor cells in vitro as an adjunct to hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

Antiferromagnetic spin fluctuation is regarded as the leading driving force for electron pairing in high-Tc *** iron-based superconductors,spin excitations at low energy.range,especially.the spin-resonance mode at ER~5kBTc,are important for understanding the ***,we use inelastic neutron scattering(INS)to investigate the sy.metry.and in-plane wave-vector dependence of low-energy.spin excitations in uniaxial-strain detwinned Fe *** low-energy.spin excitations(Ey.at Q=(±1,0)in the superconducting state(T9K)and the nematic state(T90 K),confirming the constant C_(2) rotational sy.metry.and ruling out the C_(4) mode at E≈3 meV reported in a prior INS ***,our results reveal an isotropic spin resonance in the superconducting state,which is consistent with the s±wave pairing *** slightly.higher energy.low-energy.spin excitations become highly.*** full width at half maximum of spin excitations is elongated along the transverse *** Q-space isotropic spin resonance and highly.anisotropic low-energy.spin excitations could arise from dy. intra-orbital selective Fermi surface nesting between the hole pocket aroundΓpoint and the electron pockets centered at MX point.

Spinal cord injury.is a condition in which the parenchy.a of the spinal cord is damaged by.trauma or various *** rapid progress has been made in regenerative medicine for spinal cord injury.that was previously.untreatable,most research in this field has focused on the early.phase of incomplete ***,the majority.of patients have chronic severe injuries;therefore,treatments for these situations are of fundamental *** reason why.the treatment of complete spinal cord injury.has not been studied is that,unlike in the early.stage of incomplete spinal cord injury.there are various inhibitors of neural ***,we assumed that it is difficult to address all conditions with a single treatment in chronic complete spinal cord injury.and that a combination of several treatments is essential to target severe ***,we established a combination therapy.of cell transplantation and drug-releasing scaffolds,which contributes to functional recovery.after chronic complete transection spinal cord injury.but we found that functional recovery.was limited and still needs further ***,for the further development of the treatment of chronic complete spinal cord injury.we review the necessary.approaches to the different pathologies based on our findings and the many.studies that have been accumulated to date and discuss,with reference to the literature,which combination of treatments is most effective in achieving functional recovery.

We performed ultrasonic measurements on a quaternary.cubic compound PrRu_(2)In_(2)Zn_(18) to explore the ground state properties derived from non-Kramers Γ_(3) doublet of Pr^(3+).PrRu_(2)In_(2)Zn_(18) is a quaternary.derivative of the ternary.compound PrRu_(2)Zn_(20) that exhibits a structural phase transition at T_S=138 *** PrRu_(2)In_(2)Zn_(18),the Zn atoms at the 16c site in PrRu_(2)Zn_(20) are selectively.replaced by.In atoms.A monotonic increase was observed in the temperature dependence of elastic constants C_L=(C_(11)+2C_(12)+4C_(44))/3 and C_(T)=(C_(11)-C_(12)+C_(44))/3 in the temperature range around T_(S) to which an elastic softening was observed in(C_(11)-C_(12))/2 for PrRu_(2)Zn_(20).The disappearance of the softening indicates that the structural transition in PrRu_(2)Zn_(20) is suppressed by.the substitution of Zn ions by.In ones with a larger ionic ***,the C_(T) of PrRu_(2)In_(2)Zn_(18) exhibits a precursor Curie-ty.e elastic softening toward low temperatures being responsible for the non-Kramers Γ_(3) ground *** discuss the ground state and the evolution of the elastic properties of the different single-cry.tal samples of PrRu_(2)In_(2)Zn_(18) grown under different conditions.
