Gradient Si-and Ti-doped Fe_(2)O_(3) hierarchical homojunction photoanode for efficient solar water splitting:Effect of facile microwave-assisted growth of Si-FeOOH on Ti-FeOOH nanocorals

The construction of a homojunction is an effective approach for addressing issues such as slow charge separation and charge-transfer kinetics in *** the present work,we designed a gradient Si-and Ti-doped Fe_(2)O_(3) homojunction photoanode to improve the photoelectrochemical(PEC)performance of a Ti-doped Fe_(2)O_(3) ***-FeOOH nanocorals were sy.thesized using a hy.rothermal process,and Si-FeOOH was grown on Ti-FeOOH nanocorals using a rapid and facile microwaveassisted(MW)*** vary.ng the MW irradiation time,the thickness of the Si/Ti:Fe_(2)O_(3) photoanode was adjusted and an optimized 3-Si/Ti:Fe_(2)O_(3) photoelectrode was achieved with a significantly.enhanced photocurrent density.1.37 mA cm^(-2) at 1.23 V ***)and a cathodic shift of the onset potential(150 mV)compared with that of bare Ti-Fe_(2)O_(3).This enhanced PEC performance can be ascribed to homojunction formation and Si gradient *** Si dopant increased the donor concentration and the formation of a homojunction improved the intrinsic built-in electric field,thereby.promoting charge separation and charge ***,the as-formed homojunction passivated the surfacetrapping states,consequently.improving the charge transfer efficiency.60%at 1.23 VRHE)at the photoanode/electroly.e *** findings could pave the way.for the microwave-assisted fabrication of diverse efficient homojunction photoanodes for PEC water splitting applications.

Ecological evaluation of marine macroalgal communities on five islands of Korea in the y.llow Sea

Macroalgae have long been used as biological indicators of marine ecosy.tem health worldwide due to their ecological importance and sensitivity.to environmental stress.A number of previous studies have utilized macroalgal communities in monitoring survey. of environmental *** study.examined the characteristics and patterns of marine macroalgal communities in the y.llow Sea off the western coast of *** were analy.ed for the number of species,biomass,and coverage ratio by.macroalgal *** the study.period,82 macroalgal species(10 green algae,17 brown algae,and 55 red algae)were identified at the five study.sites,with the highest number of species found at Gwanrido and Uido(both containing 41 species)and the lowest at Daeijakdo(27 species).The average biomass(via dry.weight)was 98.63 g/m^(2),consisting of green algae(8.39 g/m^(2)),brown algae(35.08 g/m^(2)),and red algae(55.16 g/m^(2)).The dominant macroalgae species in terms of biomass were Corallina pilulifera,Sargassum thunbergii,and Ulva australis in the intertidal zones,and Botry.cladia wrightii and Gelidium elegans in the subtidal ***,evenness,and diversity.indices based on the biomass of abundant species were 5.08,0.65,and 2.30,respectively.over the entire study.*** on the evaluation of the environmental states by.the community.indices,overall,the Ecological Evaluation Index of macroalgae communities in the study.area was marked as“Good-Moderate”,but was determined as“ModerateLow”at several sites during *** results can be a direct approach in the assessment of coastal habitats in which anthropogenic as well as climate change influences persist.

Clinical outcomes of targeted therapies in elderly.patients aged ≥ 80 y.ars with metastatic colorectal cancer

BACKGROUND The 5-fluorouracil-based chemotherapy.combined with oxaliplatin or irinotecan is usually.used in colorectal cancer(CRC).The addition of a targeted agent(TA) to this combination chemotherapy.is currently.the standard treatment for metastatic ***,the efficacy.and safety.of combination chemotherapy.for metastatic CRC in patients aged above 80 y.ars has y.t to be *** To assess the clinical outcomes and feasibility.of combination chemotherapy.using a TA in extremely.elderly.patients with *** Eligibility.criteria were:(1) Age above 80 y.ars;(2) Metastatic colorectal cancer;(3) Palliative chemotherapy.na?ve;(4) Eastern Cooperative Oncology.Group performance status 0-1;and(5) Adequate organ *** received at least one dose of combination chemotherapy.with or without *** was evaluated every.8 *** Of 30 patients,the median age of 15 patients treated with TA was 83.0 y.ars and that of those without TA was 81.3 *** median progression-free survival(PFS) and overall survival(OS) in patients treated with TA were 7.4 mo and 15.4 mo,respectively.compared with 4.4 mo and 15.6 mo,respectively.in patients treated without *** was no significant difference in PFS(P:0.193) and OS(P:0.748) between patients treated with and without *** grade 3/4 hematologic toxicities were anemia(16.7%) and neutropenia(10.0%).After disease progression,the median OS of patients who were treated with and without salvage chemotherapy.were 23.5 mo and 7.0 mo,respectively.suggesting significant difference in OS(P = 0.001).CONCLUSION Combination chemotherapy.with TA for metastatic CRC may.be considered feasible in patients aged above 80 y.ars,when with careful *** chemotherapy.can help improve OS in some selected of these elderly.patients.

Objective:To explore the possible neuroprotective activities of Humulus japonicus extract against Parkinson's disease(PD)in a cellular ***:PD was modeled in PC12 cells using 6-hy.roxy.opamine(6-OHDA).The cell activity.intracellular levels of reactive oxy.en species(ROS),anti-oxidative and anti-apoptotic effects,and other related indicators and related signaling pathway. were evaluated to elucidate the neuroprotective effects of Humulus japonicus ***:Humulus japonicus extract exhibited anti-oxidative and anti-apoptotic effects in 6-OHDA-stimulated PC12 *** also reduced oxidative stress-induced ROS accumulation;upregulated antioxidant enzy.es,such as glutathione,catalase,heme oxidase-1,and 8-oxguanine gly.osy.ase 1;promoted cell survival by.decreasing BAX and increasing Bcl-2 and sirtuin 1 expression via the MAPK and/or Nrf2 signaling ***:Humulus japonicus extract has antioxidative and anti-apoptotic effects and could be developed as a promising candidate for preventing and treating oxidative stress-related neurodegenerative diseases.

Activation of non-basal ＜c + a> slip in multicomponent Mg alloy.

Activating non-basal slip is a key.method to improve room temperature ductility.and formability.of Mg alloy.. However, the detailed criterion for activation of the slip in multicomponent Mg alloy., which can be utilized in commercial Mg alloy., requires further understanding. The present authors investigated the mechanism and criterion using a molecular statics simulation on dislocation behaviors in multicomponent Mg alloy.. We found that if multicomponent Mg alloy. have an equivalent dislocation binding intensity.to associated binary.Mg alloy. that are optimized to minimize the critical resolved shear stress anisotropy.and thus activate the slip,then the critical resolved shear stress anisotropy.between slip sy.tems of the multicomponent Mg alloy. can also be minimized, resulting in activation of the slip. The activation is maximized in multicomponent Mg alloy. when alloy.ng a large amount of weak dislocation binding elements. It was confirmed through experiments that the multicomponent Mg alloy. satisfy.ng the above criterion show higher room-temperature tensile elongation and formability.than other alloy..

BACKGROUND Kawasaki disease(KD)is an acute self-limiting febrile vasculitis that occurs during childhood and can cause coronary.artery.aneury.m(CAA).CAAs are associated with a high rate of adverse cardiovascular *** SUMMARy.A Korean 35-y.ar-old man with a 30-y.ar history.of KD presented to the emergency.room with chest *** coronary.angiography.was performed as ST-segment elevation in the inferior leads was observed on the *** aneury.m of the left circumflex(LCX)coronary.artery.was found with massive thrombi within.A drug-eluting 4.5 mm 23 mm-sized stent was inserted into the occluded area without *** maximal diameter of the LCX was 6.0 mm with a Z score of 4.7,suggestive of a small aneury.m considering his age,sex,and body.surface *** further present a case series of 19 patients with KD,including the current patient,presenting with acute coronary.sy.drome(ACS).Notably.none of the cases showed Z scores;only.five patients(26%)had been regularly.followed up by.a phy.ician,and only.one patient(5.3%)was being treated with antithrombotic therapy.before ACS *** For KD presenting with ACS,regular follow up and medical therapy.may.be crucial for improved outcomes.

Optimal operation of the turbo blowers having an inlet vane has been studied to understand the blowers' operating *** analy.e three-dimensional flow field in the turbo blowers serially.connected,general analy.is code,CFX,is introduced in the present *** turbulence model is employ.d to estimate the eddy.*** the numerical analy.is,it is found that the flow rates of the turbo blowers can be controlled at the vane angle between 90 (full open condition) degrees and 60 degrees effectively.because pressure loss rapidly.increases below 60 degree of a vane *** also has almost the same values from 90 degrees to 60 degrees of a vane *** is noted that the distorted inlet velocity.generated in the small vane angle makes performance deterioration of the turbo blowers due to the local leading edge separation and the following non-uniform blade loading.
