Application of the finite analytic numerical method to a flowdependent variational data assimilation

An anisotropic diffusion filter can be used to model a flow-dependent background error covariance matrix,which can be achieved by solving the advection-diffusion equation.Because of the directionality of the advection term,the discrete method needs to be chosen very carefully.The finite analytic method is an alternative scheme to solve the advection-diffusion equation.As a combination of analytical and numerical methods,it not only has high calculation accuracy but also holds the characteristic of the auto upwind.To demonstrate its ability,the one-dimensional steady and unsteady advection-diffusion equation numerical examples are respectively solved by the finite analytic method.The more widely used upwind difference method is used as a control approach.The result indicates that the finite analytic method has higher accuracy than the upwind difference method.For the two-dimensional case,the finite analytic method still has a better performance.In the three-dimensional variational assimilation experiment,the finite analytic method can effectively improve analysis field accuracy,and its effect is significantly better than the upwind difference and the central difference method.Moreover,it is still a more effective solution method in the strong flow region where the advective-diffusion filter performs most prominently.

Evidence available on the independent and combined associations of sleep duration,bedtime,and genetic predisposition with hearing loss was lacking.The present study included 15,827 participants from the Dongfeng–Tongji cohort study.Genetic risk was characterized by polygenic risk score(PRS)based on 37 genetic loci related to hearing loss.We conducted multivariate logistic regression models to assess the odds ratio(OR)for hearing loss with sleep duration and bedtime,as well as the joint association and interaction with PRS.Results showed that hearing loss was independently associated with sleeping≥9 h/night compared to the recommended 7 to9:00 p.***.to 10:00 p.***.compared to those with bedtime>10:00 p.***.to 11:00 p.m.,with estimated ORs of 1.25,1.27,and 1.16,respectively.

β-Chiral sulfones are structural motifs widely found in natural products and bioactive molecules, while also serving as important intermediates for the synthesis of valuable chiral scaffolds. In contrast to the rapid growth of sulfur dioxide insertion chemistry over the last decade, enantioselective catalytic variants for accessing β-chiral sulfones, especially those bearing a quaternary carbon stereocenter, remain rare. Herein, we report an enantioselective copper/bisoxazoline catalyzed oxysulfonylation of alkenes to yield isoxazolinyl-containing β-chiral sulfones bearing quaternary carbon stereocenters with moderate to excellent yields and up to 96:4 er. The advantage and irreplaceability of this sulfur dioxide insertion catalytic system have been demonstrated by achieving transformations clearly unavailable with the previously reported sulfonyl chloride system. Additionally,the recoverability of the new-developed bisoxazoline ligand L9 and its reusability without any erosion of the catalytic activity and enantioselectivity further demonstrate the usefulness of the protocol.

Metal aluminum batteries(MABs)are considered potential large-scale energy storage devices because of their high energy density,resource abundance,low cost,safety,and environmental friendliness.Given their high electrical conductivity,high theoretical specific capacity,and high discharge potential,Te is considered a potential positive electrode material for MABs.Nonetheless,the critical issues induced by the chemical and electrochemical dissolution of tellurium and subsequent chemical precipitation on bare Al negative electrodes result in poor cycle stability and low discharge capacity of Al-Te batteries.Here an efficient TiB_(2)-based modified layer has been proposed to address bare Al electrodes(Al/TB).Consequently,the low-voltage hysteresis and long cycle life of the Al/TB negative electrode have been achieved.In addition,the electrochemical performance of the Al-Te battery based on the Al/TB negative electrode is dramatically improved.Furthermore,the modified separator technology is introduced to match with the as-designed Al/TB negative electrode.Therefore,the record-setting long-term cycle stability of up to 500 cycles has been achieved in the Al-Te battery.The facile strategy also opens a potential route for other high-energy density battery systems,such as Al-S and Al-Se batteries.

miR-18a has been identified as a significantly expressed microRNA(miRNA)in non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)and plays a vital role in cancer cell transformation,metastasis,and carcinogenesis.Herein,a pair of binary probes from numerous probe pairs based on single nucleotide polymorphism analyses of miR-18a and miR-18b was first designed and screened to develop a Y-shaped ratio biosensor for accurate detection of serum miR-18a in NSCLC.The special structure of the binary probes combined with the hairpin showed strong specificity for miR-18a,which was confirmed by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis assay and square wave voltammetry assay.Furthermore,it is beneficial to immobilize single-stranded DNA(ssDNA)probes due to the large specific surface area of nanoporous gold,thereby improving the sensitivity of the biosensor.The Y-shaped ratio biosensor exhibited a wide detection range and can quantify the concentration of miR-18a in the range of 10 fmol/L–100 pmol/L,with a limit of detection of 0.211 fmol/L(S/N=3).Moreover,it exhibits excellent detection capabilities in serum samples since the biosensor showed a high selectivity toward the coexistence of miR-18a and miR-18b.Therefore,the prepared Y-shaped ratio biosensor is a highly sensitive and specific miR-18a detection tool,capable of identifying microscopic amounts of miR-18a in serum samples,providing great potential for early screening of NSCLC.

With the development of integrated circuits, there is a growing demand for higher power devices [1]. Gallium oxide（Ga2O3） holds promise for high power devices due to its wide bandgap and high breakdown electric field strength [2].However, its low thermal conductivity induces severe selfheating effects, limiting its performance and reliability.Therefore, effective thermal management techniques are urgently needed for Ga2O3devices.

Fugitive emission from industrial sources may result in ozone formation and health risk,while the exact contribution of this source remains incompletely understood.In this study,emission characteristics,ozone formation potential(OFP)and health risk of fugitive VOCs in7 representative industries were investigated.Chemical material industry was the dominant contributor to VOCs of fugitive emission in comparison with other industries.The OFP of VOCs from fugitive emission was in the range of 1.45×10^(3)-3.98×10^(5)μg/m^(3),with a higher value than that of organized emission in seven industries except for the coking industry and the chemical material industry,suggesting that fugitive VOCs should be taken into account while developing control strategies.Acetaldehyde,m,p-xylene,n-nonane,ethylene,vinyl chloridethe and other high OFP-contributing species were the major reactive species that should be targeted.Health risk assessment investigated non-cancer and cancer risks of fugitive VOCs in 7 industries were all above safe level(HR>1 and LCR>1×10^(-4)),posing remarkable health threats to human health.OVOCs were the main contributor to non-cancer risk,while halohydrocarbons and aromatics contributed most to cancer risks,posing remarkable health threat on human health.Our findings highlighted the contribution of fugitive VOCs on ozone formation and health risk was underestimated,indicating which should be considered in emission control strategies of industrial sources.

Solid chemisorption technologies for hydrogen storage,especially high-efficiency hydrogen storage of fuel cells in near ambient temperature zone defined from−20 to 100℃,have a great application potential for realizing the global goal of carbon dioxide emission reduction and vision of carbon neutrality.However,there are several challenges to be solved at near ambient temperature,i.e.,unclear hydrogen storage mechanism,low sorption capacity,poor sorption kinetics,and complicated synthetic procedures.In this review,the characteristics and modification methods of chemisorption hydrogen storage materials at near ambient temperature are discussed.The interaction between hydrogen and materials is analyzed,including the microscopic,thermodynamic,and mechanical properties.Based on the classification of hydrogen storage metals,the operation temperature zone and temperature shifting methods are discussed.A series of modification and reprocessing methods are summarized,including preparation,synthesis,simulation,and experimental analysis.Finally,perspectives on advanced solid chemisorption materials promising for efficient and scalable hydrogen storage systems are provided.

Trimethylamine N-oxide(TMAO)is a risk factor of various chronic diseases,which was produced by metabolism from precursors to trimethylamine(TMA)in gut and the oxidation from TMA in liver.The TMA generation was influenced by diet,mainly due to the rich TMAO precursors in diet.However,it was still unclear that the effects of different proportion and source of macronutrients in different dietary pattern on the production process of TMAO.Here,the generation of TMA from precursors and TMAO from TMA was determined after single oral choline chloride and intraperitoneal injection TMA,respectively,in mice fed with carbohydrates,proteins and fats in different proportion and sources.The results suggested that the generation of TMAO was increased by low non-meat protein and high fat via enhancing the production of TMAO from TMA,and decreased by plant protein and refined sugar via reducing TMA production from precursors in gut and TMAO transformation from TMA in liver.The high fat and high sugar diets accelerating the development of atherosclerosis did not increase the production of TMAO,the risk factor for atherosclerosis,which indicated that the dietary compositions rather than the elevated TMAO level might be a more key risk factor for atherosclerosis.
