Effect and safety of sorafenib in patients with intermediate hepatocellular carcinoma who received transarterial chemoembolization: A retrospective comparative study

AIM To evaluate the safety and efficacy of sorafenib plus transarterial chemoembolization(TACE) treatment for intermediate hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC).METHODS Sixty-seven patients with intermediate-stage [Barcelona Clinic liver cancer stage B(BCLC-B)] HCC who were treated with sorafenib plus TACE or TACE alone between 2009 and 2011 were included in the study. Follow-up was until 2014 or patient death. Two groups were defined in the experiment: The experimental group, treated with sorafenib plus TACE, and the control group, treated with standard TACE *** The Kaplan-Meier survival analysis showed that the median overall survival(m OS) of the experimental group was 35.2 mo, while that of the control group was 22.0 mo(P fenib plus TACE showed higher incidence rates of rash, hand-foot syndrome(HFS), and hypertension(P fenib plus TACE treatment for BCLC-B HCC significantly prolonged the m OS of patients compared to TACE treatment alone. The most common toxicities with sorafenib were rash(31.6%), HFS(39.5%) and hypertension(31.6%), but there were no intolerable adverse events. The Cox multivariate analysis showed that the survival of patients with BCLC-B HCC depended on the Child-Pugh classification, tumor diameter, and treatment with sorafenib plus TACE compared to TACE alone.

Conversion of CO2back to hydrocarbons is the most direct way of closing the“carbon cycle”,and its significance is further enlarged if this process is driven by renewable energies such as ***,precisely controlling the product selectivity towards hydrocarbons against the competitive hydrogen evolution remains challenging,especially for Cu-based ***,we report a novel defect engineering strategy,by which Cu-doping-induced oxygen vacancies on CeO2nanorods were effectively created,with adjustable vacancy/Cu *** resulting optimum catalyst shows up to 79% catalytic current density to hydrocarbons （excluding CO）,with 49% faradaic efficiency to *** and density functional theory unveil that the ratio between oxygen vacancy and Cu affects significantly the formation of*CHO and activation of H2O,which leads to the following deep hydrogenation to *** findings may spur new insights for designing and developing more controllable chemical process relevant to CO2utilization.

Fluorinated poly(p-triphenylene isatin) anion exchange membranes based on hydrophilic hydroxyl side chain modulation for fuel cells

The development of alkaline fuel cells is moving forward at an accelerated pace,and the application of ether-free bonded polymers to anion exchange membranes （AEMs） has been widely ***,the question of the“trade-off”between AEM ionic conductivity and dimensional stability remains *** strategy of inducing microphase separation to improve the performance of AEM has attracted much attention recently,but the design of optimal molecular structures is still being ***,this work introduced different ratios of 3-bromo-1,1,1-trifluoroacetone （x=40,50,and 60） into the main chain of poly（p-terphenylene isatin）.Because fluorinated groups have excellent hydrophobicity,hydrophilic hydroxyl-containing side chains are introduced to jointly adjust the formation of phase separation *** results show that PTI-PTF50-NOH AEM with the appropriate fluorinated group ratio has the best ionic conductivity and alkali stability under the combined effect of *** has an ionic conductivity of 133.83 mS cm-1at 80°*** addition,the OH-conductivity remains at 89%of the initial value at 80°C and 3 M KOH for 1056 h of *** cell polarization curve based on PTI-PTF50-NOH shows a power density of 734.76 mW cm-2at a current density of 1807.7 mA cm-2.

CaH2-promoted activity of Ni-carbonate interface for CO2 methanation

Transition metal-carbonate interfaces often act as active sites in heterogeneous catalytic *** interface between transition metal and metal carbonate exhibits a dynamic equilibrium during the CO2hydrogenation reaction,involving surface carbonate hydrogenation and ***,there have been few reports on engineering the activity of the interface between transition metal and alkaline earth metal carbonate for catalytic *** work demonstrated that the incorporation of CaH2in Ni/CaCO3enhances the CO2methanation activity of the *** CO2conversion for Ni/CaH2-CaCO3reached 68.5%at 400°C,which was much higher than that of the Ni/CaCO3（31.6%） and Ni/CaH2-CaO （42.4%） ***,the Ni/CaH2-CaCO3catalysts remained stable during the stability test for 24 h at 400°C and 8 *** research revealed that CaH2played a crucial role in promoting the activity of the Ni-carbonate interface for ***2could modify the electronic structure of Ni and tune the structural properties of CaCO3to generate medium basic sites （OH groups）,which are favorable for the activation of H2and ***-situ Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy （FTIR） analysis combined with density functional theory calculations demonstrated that CO2activation occurs at the hydroxyl group （OH） on the CaH2-modified Ni-carbonate surface,leading to the formation of CO3H****,our study has confirmed that CO2methanation over the Ni/CaH2-CaCO3catalysts proceeds via the formate pathway.

Engineering yolk-shell CuCo_(2)S_(4)@Cu_(2)O Z-scheme nanoreactors for accelerating generation of value-added chemicals and of degradation multi-organic contaminants

The synthesis of solar-driven chemical value-added products and the degradation of pollutants is a promising approach for sustainable development. However, achieving these works via photocatalysts with efficient charge-separation, photo-absorption is challenging. A yolk-shell CuCo_(2)S_(4)@Cu_(2)O Z-scheme nanoreactor (YS-CuCo_(2)S_(4)@Cu_(2) O-NR) with octahedron Cu_(2)O as the core and tubular CuCo2 S4 as the shell, has been synthesized by regulating composition and morphology. YS-CuCo_(2)S_(4)@Cu_(2)O-NR shows superior photocatalytic activities for producing H_(2) O_(2) collaborates by selective oxidation of benzyl alcohol (BA) to high value-added benzaldehyde (BAD)/utilized fenton-like reaction to degrade multi-pollutants through space-confinement effect, reaching 80% conversion and 99% selectivity of BA, a yield of 12 mM g^(−1) for H_(2)O_(2) and above 90% degradation efficiency for multi-pollutants. A photocatalysis nanoconfinement reactor system is proposed and demonstrated by using yolk-shell to enhance the performance of the chemical reaction. Mechanism studies show that the yolk-shell provides confined space to accelerate redox reaction kinetics;while the inner void promotes light harvesting and keeps yolk Cu_(2) O from deactivation;combined with the Z-scheme charge transfer, engineering Cu^(+) /Cu^(2+) active composition, they are favorable for enhancing the H_(2) O_(2) generation and fenton-like activity. These findings provide new opportunities for application of yolk-shell Z-scheme metal-oxide-based photocatalysts.

Nowadays,force sensors play an important role in industrial production,electronic information,medical health,and many other ***-dimensional material-based filed effect transistor(2D-FET)sensors are competitive with nano-level size,lower power consumption,and accurate ***,few of them has the capability of impulse detection which is a path function,expressing the cumulative effect of the force on the particle over a period of *** we fabricated the flexible polymethyl methacrylate(PMMA)gate dielectric MoS_(2)-FET for force and impulse sensor *** systematically investigated the responses of the sensor to constant force and varying forces,and achieved the conversion factors of the drain current signals(I_(ds))to the detected impulse(I).The applied force was detected and recorded by I_(ds)with a low power consumption of~30 *** sensitivity of the device can reach~8000%and the 4×1 sensor array is able to detect and locate the normal force applied on ***,there was almost no performance loss for the device as left in the air for two months.
