Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 expression in mixed gastric carcinoma

AIM: To investigate human epidermal growth factor receptor 2(HER2) amplification and protein expression in mixed gastric ***: Fluorescence in situ hybridization and immunohistochemistry were used to detect HER2 amplification and protein expression in 277 cases of mixed gastric carcinoma. Protein staining intensity was rate as 1+, 2+, or 3+.RESULTS: Of the 277 cases, 114(41.2%) expressed HER2 protein. HER2 3+ staining was observed in 28/277(10.1%) cases, 2+ in 37/277(13.4%) cases, and 1+ in 49/277(17.7%) cases. A HER2 amplification rate of 17% was detected, of which 25/28(89.3%) were observed in the HER2 3+ staining group, 17/37(45.9%) in 2+, and 5/49(10.2%) in 1+. Of the 47 patients with HER2 amplification who received chemotherapy plus trastuzumab, 22 demonstrated median progression-free and overall survivals of 9.1 mo and 16.7 mo, respectively, which were significantly better than those achieved with chemotherapy alone(5.6 mo and 12.1 mo, respectively) in 19 previously treated patients(P s < 0.05). CONCLUSION: HER2 detection in mixed gastric carcinoma displays high heterogeneity. Relativelyquantitative parameters are needed for assessing the level of HER2 amplification and protein expression.

N6-methyladenosine(m^(6)A), the most prevalent and conserved RNA modification in eukaryotic cells, profoundly influences virtually all aspects of mRNA metabolism. mRNA plays crucial roles in neural stem cell genesis and neural regeneration, where it is highly concentrated and actively involved in these processes. Changes in m^(6)A modification levels and the expression levels of related enzymatic proteins can lead to neurological dysfunction and contribute to the development of neurological diseases. Furthermore, the proliferation and differentiation of neural stem cells, as well as nerve regeneration, are intimately linked to memory function and neurodegenerative diseases. This paper presents a comprehensive review of the roles of m^(6)A in neural stem cell proliferation, differentiation, and self-renewal, as well as its implications in memory and neurodegenerative diseases. m^(6)A has demonstrated divergent effects on the proliferation and differentiation of neural stem cells. These observed contradictions may arise from the time-specific nature of m^(6)A and its differential impact on neural stem cells across various stages of development. Similarly, the diverse effects of m^(6)A on distinct types of memory could be attributed to the involvement of specific brain regions in memory formation and recall. Inconsistencies in m^(6)A levels across different models of neurodegenerative disease, particularly Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease, suggest that these disparities are linked to variations in the affected brain regions. Notably, the opposing changes in m^(6)A levels observed in Parkinson's disease models exposed to manganese compared to normal Parkinson's disease models further underscore the complexity of m^(6)A's role in neurodegenerative processes. The roles of m^(6)A in neural stem cell proliferation, differentiation, and self-renewal, and its implications in memory and neurodegenerative diseases, appear contradictory. 提出一种工作于2.4GHz(圆极化)和5.8GHz(线极化)的双频微带天线,由共面带状线(CPS)馈电。在菱形环中内嵌小方环实现双频工作,菱形环上槽口实现圆极化特性,背面加反射板以提高天线增益。为了实测天线性能和应用于不平衡馈电方式,还设计了CPS至微带线的巴伦。实测结果与仿真结果比较吻合,在2.4GHz与5.8GHz的S11<-10dB工作带宽分别为33.3%和17.4%,增益分别达到9.05dBi和6.59dBi,2.4GHz频点3dB轴比带宽为15.8%。该天线频带宽、增益高、结构简单、易于集成,可用于无线通信和微波输能系统的整流天线中。

Effect of basicity and Al2O3 on viscosity of ferronickel smelting slag

The effect of the Al2O3 content and basicity (the molar ratio of MgO to SiO2) on the viscosity of a SiO2-MgO-FeOAl2O3-CaO slag was studied to fully understand the smelting process of the ferronickel alloy. Experimental results show that the slag is a mixture of liquid and solid phases at the experimental temperature. The viscosity decreased as the basicity increased and increased as the Al2O3 content increased. To determine the effect of the Al2O3 content and basicity on the structure of the molten slag, Raman spectroscopy was performed on the slag sample, which was quenched from the high temperature with water. The Raman spectra showed that the fractions of the polymerization structural units decreased significantly as the basicity of the slag increased, resulting in a decrease in the apparent viscosity. However, Al2O3 acts as a network former in the slag system, thereby making the slag structure further polymerized and increasing the viscosity.

Releasing characteristics of phosphorus and other substances during thermal treatment of excess sludge

The releasing characteristics of phosphorus, nitrogen compounds, organics, and some metal cations during thermal treatment of excess sludge were investigated. It was found that during heating not only phosphorus, but also nitrogen compounds, organics, and some metal cations could be released in abundance. The maximum orthophosphate （ortho-P） release of about 90 mg/L in concentration was observed at 50℃ in 1 h. Except for volatile fatty acids （VFAs）, comparatively little total nitrogen （TN）, total organic carbon （TOC）, and metal cations were released at the same time. Such results might favor further process of phosphorus recovery. VFAs were considerably released only at 50℃. Acetic, butyric, and propionic acid were the most abundant components in turn and their releasing profiles exhibited good linear relationship with time （R2 = 0.9977, 0.9624, and 0.8908, respectively）. The concentrations of Mg^2＋ and K^＋ increased with time and temperature during thermal treatment, but Ca^2＋ decreased. The release of Mg^2＋ and K^＋ agreed well with TP release （R^2 = 0.9892 and 0.9476, respectively）. Temperature in the experimental range had very little impact on the linear relationships, especially of Mg^2＋. Moreover, the parameter of mixed liquor suspended solids （MLSS） was found to be an important factor for thermal sludge treatment as the released ortho-P and total phosphorus （TP） at 50℃ increased more than one-fold when MLSS was increased from 4000 to 8000 mg/L.

Heavy Cycles in 2-connected Triangle-free Weighted Graphs

A weighted graph is one in which every edge e is assigned a nonnegative number, called the weight of e. The sum of the weights of the edges incident with a vertex v is called the weighted degree of v, denoted by dw（v）. The weight of a cycle is defined as the sum of the weights of its edges. Fujisawa proved that if G is a 2-connected triangle-free weighted graph such that the minimum weighted degree of G is at least d, then G contains a cycle of weight at least 2d. In this paper, we proved that if G is a 2-connected triangle-free weighted graph of even size such that dw（u）＋ dw（v） ≥ 2d holds for any pair of nonadjacent vertices u, v ∈ V（G）, then G contains a cycle of weight at least 2d.

Total [1,2]-domination in Graphs

A subset S V in a graph G =（V, E） is a total [1, 2]-set if, for every vertex v ∈ V, 1 ≤ ｜N（v）∩S｜ ≤2. The minimum cardinality of a total [1, 2]-set of G is called the total [1, 2]-domination number, denoted byγt[1,2]（G）.We establish two sharp upper bounds on the total [1,2]-domination number of a graph G in terms of its order and minimum degree, and characterize the corresponding extremal graphs achieving these bounds. Moreover,we give some sufficient conditions for a graph without total [1, 2]-set and for a graph with the same total[1, 2]-domination number, [1, 2]-domination number and domination number.
