Activation of the NOD-like receptor protein 3(NLRP3)inflammasome signaling pathway is an important mechanism underlying myocardial pyroptosis and plays an important role in inflammatory damage to myocardial tissue in patients with cardiovascular diseases(CVDs),such as diabetic cardiomyopathy,ischemia/reperfusion injury,myocardial infarction,heart failure and hypertension.Noncoding RNAs(nc RNAs)are important regulatory factors.Many Chinese medicine(CM)compounds,including their effective components,can regulate pyroptosis and exert myocardium-protecting effects.The mechanisms underlying this protection include inhibition of inflammasome protein expression,Toll-like receptor 4–NF-κB signal pathway activation,oxidative stress,endoplasmic reticulum stress(ERS),and mixed lineage kinase 3 expression and the regulation of silent information regulator 1.The NLRP3 protein is an important regulatory target for CVD prevention and treatment with CM.Exploring the effects of the interventions mediated by CM and the related mechanisms provides new ideas and perspectives for CVD prevention and treatment.

In this study,an extreme rainfall event that occurred on 25 May 2018 over Shanghai and its nearby area was simulated using the Weather Research and Forecasting model,with a focus on the effects of planetary boundary layer(PBL)physics using double nesting with large grid ratios(15:1 and 9:1).The sensitivity of the precipitation forecast was examined through three PBL schemes:the Yonsei University Scheme,the Mellor−Yamada−Nakanishi Niino Level 2.5(MYNN)scheme,and the Mellor−Yamada−Janjic scheme.The PBL effects on boundary layer structures,convective thermodynamic and large-scale forcings were investigated to explain the model differences in extreme rainfall distributions and hourly variations.The results indicated that in single coarser grids(15 km and 9 km),the extreme rainfall amount was largely underestimated with all three PBL schemes.In the inner 1-km grid,the underestimated intensity was improved;however,using the MYNN scheme for the 1-km grid domain with explicitly resolved convection and nested within the 9-km grid using the Kain−Fritsch cumulus scheme,significant advantages over the other PBL schemes are revealed in predicting the extreme rainfall distribution and the time of primary peak rainfall.MYNN,with the weakest vertical mixing,produced the shallowest and most humid inversion layer with the lowest lifting condensation level,but stronger wind fields and upward motions from the top of the boundary layer to upper levels.These factors all facilitate the development of deep convection and moisture transport for intense precipitation,and result in its most realistic prediction of the primary rainfall peak.

We report on using synthetic silicon for a high-precision X-ray polarimeter comprising a polarizer and an analyzer,each based on a monolithic channel-cut crystal used at multiple Brewster reflections with a Bragg angle very close to 45°.Experiments were performed at the BL09B bending magnet beamline of the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility using a Si(800)crystal at an X-ray energy of 12.914 keV.A polarization purity of 8.4×10^(-9)was measured.This result is encouraging,as the measured polarization purity is the best-reported value for the bending magnet source.Notably,this is the firstly systematic study on the hard X-ray polarimeter in China,which is crucial for exploring new physics,such as verifying vacuum birefringence.

The effect of a novel active nucleating agent(TBC8-eb) on the isothermal crystallization of poly(L-lactic acid) (PLLA) was studied by differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) . The analysis on kinetics demonstrates that TBC8-eb can not only accelerate the crystallization rate but also transform most of the original spherulite crystals of PLLA into sheaf-like crystals. Furthermore,the free energy of folding(σe) of PLLA and PLLA with TBC8-eb is 0.15 and 0.06 J·m-2,respectively,which suggests that the addition of TBC8-eb favors the regular folding of molecule chains in the crystallization of PLLA,improv-ing its crystallization rate. The FTIR results show that TBC8-eb can accelerate the conformational ordering of PLLA in the isothermal crystallization. The conformational ordering of PLLA nucleated with TBC8-eb begins with the interchain interaction of CH3,and then a short helix emerges where a couple of CH3 groups interact.

Being decades of study, the usability of database systems have received more attention in recent years. Now it is especially able to explain missing objects in a query re-sult, which is called “why-not” questions, and is the focus of concern. This paper studies the problem of answering why- not questions on KNN queries. In our real life, many users would like to use KNN queries to investigate the surround-ing circumstances. Nevertheless, they often feel disappointed when finding the result not including their expected objects. In this paper, we use the query refinement approach to re-solve the problem. Given the original KNN query and a set of missing objects as input, our algorithm offer a refined KNN query that includes the missing objects to the user. The ex-perimental results demonstrate the efficiency of our proposed optimizations and algorithms.

Nowadays,with the depletion of high-grade scheelite resources,the efficient exploitation of complex,low grade with complicated geological structure scheelite ore have to take into account.This work introduces a feasible mineral processing method for the beneficiation of low grade and complex scheelite using the X-ray transmission(XRT) pre-concentration technology and mixed collectors.The results of XRT sorting shown that 94.85% WO_(3) can be recovered with the discarding rate reached40.62%.The closed-circuit flotation of actual ore using mixed collector obtained scheelite concentrate of 61.09% WO_(3) grade with WO_(3) recovery of 89.49%.The combined flowsheet of XRT sorting and mixed collector brought about RMB 4.5 million yuan profit per year for the mine company.

Rapid alkalinization factors(RALFs)in plants have been reported to dampen pathogenassociated molecular pattern(PAMP)-triggered immunity via suppressing PAMP-induced complex formation between the pattern recognition receptor(PRR)and its co-receptor BAK1.However,the direct and positive role of RALFs in plant immunity remains largely unknown.Herein,we report the direct and positive roles of a typical RALF,RALF22,in plant immunity.RALF22alone directly elicited a variety of typical immune responses and triggered resistance against the devastating necrotrophic fungal pathogen Sclerotinia sclerotiorum in a FERONIA(FER)-dependent manner.LORELEI(LRE)-like glycosylphosphatidylinositol(GPI)-anchored protein 1(LLG1)and NADPH oxidase RBOHD were required for RALF22-elicited reactive oxygen species(ROS)generation.The mutation of cysteines conserved in the C terminus of RALFs abolished,while the constitutive formation of two disulfide bridges between these cysteines promoted the RALF22-elicited ROS production and resistance against S.sclerotiorum,demonstrating the requirement of these cysteines in the functions of RALF22 in plant immunity.Furthermore,RALF22 amplified the Pep3-induced immune signal by dramatically increasing the abundance of PROPEP3 transcript and protein.Supply with RALF22 induced resistance against S.sclerotiorum in Brassica crop plants.Collectively,our results reveal that RALF22 triggers immune responses and augments the Pep3-induced immune signal in a FER-dependent manner,and exhibits the potential to be exploited as an immune elicitor in crop protection.

BACKGROUND Incontinentia pigmenti(IP)is a rare X-linked genetic disease.It mainly manifests as skin lesions and causes problems in the eyes,teeth,bones,and central nervous system.Of the various ocular manifestations,the most severe with difficult recovery is retinal detachment(RD).Here,we report an unusual case of bilateral asymmetrical RD.CASE SUMMARY We present the case of an 11-year-old Chinese girl with IP who complained of sudden blurring of vision in the left eye.At that time,she had been blind in her right eye for 4 years.RD with traction was observed in both eyes.A massive retinal proliferative membrane,exudation,and hemorrhage were seen in the left eye.We performed vitrectomy in her left eye.Her visual acuity recovered to 20/50,and her retina had flattened within 2 d after surgery.During the 3-mo follow-up,we performed retinal laser treatment of the non-perfused retinal area in her left eye.Eventually,her visual acuity returned to 20/32,and no new retinal abnormalities developed.CONCLUSION In patients with IP with fundal abnormalities in one eye,it is important to focus on the rate of fundal change in the other eye.RD in its early stages can be effectively treated with timely vitrectomy and laser photocoagulation.
