In this work,a novel in situ auto-reduction strategy was developed to encapsulate uniformly dispersed Pd clusters/nanoparticles in MIL-125-NH_(2).It is demonstrated that the amino groups in MIL-125-NH_(2)can react with formaldehyde to form novel reducing groups(-NH-CH_(2)OH),which can in situ auto-reduce the encapsulated Pd^(2+)ions to metallic Pd clusters/nanoparticles.As no additional reductants are required,the strategy limits the aggregation and migration of Pd clusters and the formation of large Pd nanoparticles via controlling the amount of Pd^(2+)precursor.When applied as catalysts in the hydrogenation of phenol in the aqueous phase,the obtained Pd(1.5)/MIL-125-NH-CH_(2)OH catalyst with highly dispersed Pd clusters/nanoparticles with the size of around 2 nm exhibited 100%of phenol conversion and 100%of cyclohexanone selectivity at 70℃ after 5 h,as well as remarkable reusability for at least five cycles due to the large MOF surface area,the highly dispersed Pd clusters/nanoparticles and their excellent stability within the MIL-125-NH-CH_(2)OH framework.

Interface engineering in device fabrication is a significant but complicated issue.Although great successes have been achieved by conventional physical in situ or ex situ methods,it still suffers from complicated procedures.In this work,we present a facile method for fabricating phthalocyanine(Pc)-based two-dimensional conductive metal–organic framework(MOF)films.Based on PcM-Cu(M=Ni,Cu,H_(2))MOF films,spin valves with a vertical configuration of La_(0.67)Sr_(0.33)MnO_(3)/PcM-Cu MOFs/Co were constructed successfully,and exhibited notably high negative magnetoresistance(MR)up to -22% at 50 K.The penetrated Co atoms coordinated with the dehydrogenated hydroxy groups in the MOFs resulting in an antiferromagnetic layer of the PcM-Cu-Co hybrid structure.Interestingly,a significant exchange bias effect was demonstrated at the PcM-Cu MOF/Co interface,beneficial for the MR behavior.Thus,our present study provides new insights into developing high-performance organic spin valves via de novo molecular design.

Anti-tumor angiogenesis therapy, targeting the suppression of blood vessel growth in tumors, presents a potent approach in the battle against cancer. Traditional therapies have primarily concentrated on single-target techniques, with a specific emphasis on targeting the vascular endothelial growth factor, but have not reached ideal therapeutic efficacy. In response to this issue, our study introduced a novel nanoparticle system known as CS-siRNA/PEITC&L-cRGD NPs. These chitosan-based nanoparticles have been recognized for their excellent biocompatibility and ability to deliver genes. To enhance their targeted delivery capability, they were combined with a cyclic RGD peptide (cRGD). Targeted co-delivery of gene and chemotherapeutic agents was achieved through the use of a negatively charged lipid shell and cRGD, which possesses high affinity for integrin αvβ3 overexpressed in tumor cells and neovasculature. In this multifaceted approach, co-delivery of VEGF siRNA and phenethyl isothiocyanate (PEITC) was employed to target both tumor vascular endothelial cells and tumor cells simultaneously. The co-delivery of VEGF siRNA and PEITC could achieve precise silencing of VEGF, inhibit the accumulation of HIF-1α under hypoxic conditions, and induce apoptosis in tumor cells. In summary, we have successfully developed a nanoparticle delivery platform that utilizes a dual mechanism of action of anti-tumor angiogenesis and pro-tumor apoptosis, which provides a robust and potent strategy for the delivery of anti-cancer therapeutics.

Current electro spun membranes used for pulp capping still lack the sustained-release capability and long-term anti-inflammatory effects that are favorable for dental pulp regeneration.In this work,a single-layered poly(lac tic acid)(PLA)electro spun membrane loaded with amorphous calcium phosphate(ACP)and aspirin(PLA/ACP/Aspirin membrane,i.e.,PA A membrane)is sandwiched between two poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)(PLGA)electro spun membranes as a novel sandwich-structured PLGA and PA A composite electro spun membrane(PLGA-PAA membrane)to resolve the need for sustained-release design and anti-inflammatory effects.Contact angle measurements indicate that the PLGA-PAA membrane is more hydrophilic than the PAA membrane.An in vitro release study reveals that PLGA membranes coated on PAA membrane could slightly slow down ion release,while signiificantly prolonging aspirin release.We also co-cultured membranes with dental pulp stem cells(DPSCs)and human monocytic THP-1 cells to evaluate their osteogenic ability and anti-inflammatory effects,respectively.Compared with the PAA membrane,the PLGA-PAA membrane promotes cell adhesion,proliferation,and osteogenic differentiation.A prolonged anti-inflammatory effect of up to 18 days is also observed in the PLGA-PAA group.The results suggest a promising strategy for fabricating an electro spun membrane system with controlled release capabilities and long-term anti-inflammatory effects for use as pulp-capping material for regeneration of the dentin-pulp complex.

Identification and characterization of chemical constituents in Mahuang Guizhi Decoction and their metabolites in rat plasma and brain by UPLC-Q-TOF/MS

Objective:Mahuang Guizhi Decoction(MGD),an essential herbal pair in traditional Chinese medicine,is able to release cold,fever and asthma,mainly containing alkaloids,flavonoids,phenylpropanoids and amino acids.However,the absorption and distribution of these four category compounds in vivo still remained unclearly.Methods:In our research,we utilized UPLC-Q-TOF-MS technique to identify the constituents within MGD,as well as the prototypes of MGD and their metabolites absorbed in plasma and brain.We further profiled the drug-time curve of prototypes and metabolites of MGD both in plasma and brain.Results:Our results showed that 105 constituents were characterized in MGD.Thirty of them could be absorbed into blood,and ten of them could be distributed into brain.We also discovered eight new bio-transformed metabolites in blood,and a half of which could pass through the blood-brain barrier.In addition,all components detected in vivo could be absorbed and distributed immediately.Conclusion:These findings provide an approachable method to analyze the potential bio-active compounds in MGD and their in vivo behaviors,which could promote the efficacious material basis study of MGD and the security of clinical utilization.

It is highly desirable to develop simple organocatalysts for the controlled ring-opening alternating copolymerization （ROAC） of epoxides and cyclic anhydrides,leading to high molecular weight polyesters.Hence,a phosphazenium salt,namely tri[tris（dimethylamino）phosphoranylidenamino]phosphonium chloride （P4+Cl-）,is developed as a catalyst for the ROAC of epoxides and cyclic anhydrides.Surprisingly,the combination of P4+Cl-with a protonic initiator,such as 1,4-benzenedimethanol （BDM）exhibited high efficiency in the copolymerization of propylene oxide （PO） and phthalic anhydride （PA）.This led to the production of polyester with an exceptional high molecular weight （M_n） of up to 126 kDa,which represented a rare example of poly（PO-alt-PA） with M_n surpassing 100 k Da.Note that the core P atom is trivalent status and the tris[tris（dimethylamino）]phosphoranyl group will share one proton in the P4+Cl-salt.Once combined with protonic species,the P4+Cl-will not only serve as a proton acceptor but also as a hydrogen bonding donor for the cyclic anhydrides.Therefore,it was assumed that the P4+plus proton served dual role in mimic of base/urea pair to effectively catalyze ROAC,which was supported by density functional theory （DFT） calculations.

The COVID-19 pandemic,which was caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2),has become a worldwide health crisis due to its transmissibility.SARS-CoV-2 infection results in severe respiratory illness and can lead to significant complications in affected individuals.These complications encompass symptoms such as coughing,respiratory distress,fever,infectious shock,acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS),and even multiple-organ failure.Animal models serve as crucial tools for investigating pathogenic mechanisms,immune responses,immune escape mechanisms,antiviral drug development,and vaccines against SARS-CoV-2.Currently,various animal models for SARS-CoV-2 infection,such as nonhuman primates(NHPs),ferrets,hamsters,and many different mouse models,have been developed.Each model possesses distinctive features and applications.In this review,we elucidate the immune response elicited by SARS-CoV-2 infection in patients and provide an overview of the characteristics of various animal models mainly used for SARS-CoV-2 infection,as well as the corresponding immune responses and applications of these models.A comparative analysis of transcriptomic alterations in the lungs from different animal models revealed that the K18-hACE2 and mouse-adapted virus mouse models exhibited the highest similarity with the deceased COVID-19 patients.Finally,we highlighted the current gaps in related research between animal model studies and clinical investigations,underscoring lingering scientific questions that demand further clarification.

As an essential part of artificial intelligence,many works focus on image processing which is the branch of computer vision.Nevertheless,image localization faces complex challenges in image processing with image data increases.At the same time,quantum computing has the unique advantages of improving computing power and reducing energy consumption.So,combining the advantage of quantum computing is necessary for studying the quantum image localization algorithms.At present,many quantum image localization algorithms have been proposed,and their efficiency is theoretically higher than the corresponding classical algorithms.But,in quantum computing experiments,quantum gates in quantum computing hardware need to work at very low temperatures,which brings great challenges to experiments.This paper proposes a single-photon-based quantum image localization algorithm based on the fundamental theory of single-photon image classification.This scheme realizes the operation of the mixed national institute of standards and technology database(MNIST)quantum image localization by a learned transformation for non-noise condition,noisy condition,and environmental attack condition,respectively.Compared with the regular use of entanglement between multi-qubits and low-temperature noise reduction conditions for image localization,the advantage of this method is that it does not deliberately require low temperature and entanglement resources,and it improves the lower bound of the localization success rate.This method paves a way to study quantum computer vision.

Based on the reported Fe clusters constructed by using N-tris(hydroxymethyl)methylglycine (H_5thmmg),herein,we explored the use of H_5 thmmg for Ni chemistry.Successfully,an octanuclear Ni cluster,Ni_(8)O(H_(3)thmmg)_6·2NO_(3)(Ni_(8)) was acquired under solvothermal condition.Its metallic core is comprised of two centrosymmetric cubanes Ni_(4)(μ_(3)-O)_(3)(μ_6-O) linked by sharing an O^(2-)ion and six H_(3)thmmg^(2-) ligands are attached to the periphery.Interestingly,the 2-mercapto-5-amino-1,3,4-thiadiazole (Hmat) ligand with both N and S donor atoms was introduced into the synthesis of Ni_(8) cluster,a disparate decanuclear nickel cluster,Ni_(10)O(OH)_(2)(H_(3)thmmg)_(4)(mat)_(8)(Ni_(10)) is assembled by H_(3)thmmg^(2-) and mat^(-) mixed ligands.The metal core of Ni_(10)cluster is a pudgy tetrahedron,whose four vertexes are four Ni^(2+)ions and the remanent six Ni^(2+) ions are located in the tetrahedral cavity.Four H_(3)thmmg^(2-) ligands are located at the four vertices of the tetrahedron and 8 mat^(-) ligands are all on the six sides of the tetrahedron.The different synthetic conditions contribute to the different configurations.Magnetic studies indicate that both complexes Ni_(8) and Ni_(10) display antiferromagnetic interactions.

Volumetric lattice Boltzmann method for pore-scale mass diffusionadvection process in geopolymer porous structures

Porous materials present significant advantages for absorbing radioactive isotopes in nuclear waste streams.To improve absorption efficiency in nuclear waste treatment,a thorough understanding of the diffusion-advection process within porous structures is essential for material design.In this study,we present advancements in the volumetric lattice Boltzmann method(VLBM)for modeling and simulating pore-scale diffusion-advection of radioactive isotopes within geopolymer porous structures.These structures are created using the phase field method(PFM)to precisely control pore architectures.In our VLBM approach,we introduce a concentration field of an isotope seamlessly coupled with the velocity field and solve it by the time evolution of its particle population function.To address the computational intensity inherent in the coupled lattice Boltzmann equations for velocity and concentration fields,we implement graphics processing unit(GPU)parallelization.Validation of the developed model involves examining the flow and diffusion fields in porous structures.Remarkably,good agreement is observed for both the velocity field from VLBM and multiphysics object-oriented simulation environment(MOOSE),and the concentration field from VLBM and the finite difference method(FDM).Furthermore,we investigate the effects of background flow,species diffusivity,and porosity on the diffusion-advection behavior by varying the background flow velocity,diffusion coefficient,and pore volume fraction,respectively.Notably,all three parameters exert an influence on the diffusion-advection process.Increased background flow and diffusivity markedly accelerate the process due to increased advection intensity and enhanced diffusion capability,respectively.Conversely,increasing the porosity has a less significant effect,causing a slight slowdown of the diffusion-advection process due to the expanded pore volume.This comprehensive parametric study provides valuable insights into the kinetics of isotope uptake in porous structures,facilitating the de
