Heavy Metal Contamination of Agricultural Soils in Taiyuan, China

To evaluate the current state of the environmental quality of agricultural soils in Taiyuan City, a hotspot for China's industrial development, the concentrations of 8 heavy metals in soils were investigated by means of extensive sampling in farmlands, forestlands,and grasslands in the city. Statistical analyses and spatial distribution maps were used to identify the most significant heavy metal pollutants. The mean concentrations of As, Cd, Cu, Hg, Pb, Zn, Ni, and Cr were slightly higher than their background values in Taiyuan's topsoil, but were lower than the maximum permissible concentrations in the Chinese Environmental Quality Standard for agricultural soils. Farmland soils in Taiyuan had the highest average Cd, Cu, Hg, Pb, Zn, and Cr concentrations, but the As and Ni concentrations did not differ significantly among the farmland, forestland, and grasslands. Soil contamination by Cd, Cu, Hg, Pb,Zn, and Cr was mainly derived from farming practices, especially the use of sewage water for irrigation. In contrast, As and Ni might derive mainly from the soil parent material. The identification of heavy metal sources in agricultural soils may provide a basis for taking appropriate action to protect soil quality.

Flexible, wearable, and even stretchable sensors are the key components of smart electronic textiles. However, most reported flexible and wearable sensors for wearable electronics are usually fabricated in two-dimensional (2D) planar strip configurations, which cannot be properly integrated into textile structures and thus greatly degrade intrinsic properties such as the softness, flexibility, and air permeability of textiles and the aesthetic feeling of clothing. In this work, a new one-dimensional weavable strain sensing yarn consisting of an elastic polyurethane (PU) core, a conductive Ag-nanoparticles/graphene-microsheets composite sheath, and a silicone encapsulation layer was designed and fabricated through an easily manipulated protocol. Arising from the reasonable structural design and appropriate material selection, the as-fabricated strain sensor not only exhibited excellent flexibility, stretchability, and highly repeatable electromechanical stability (a repeatability error of 1.56%) but also possessed both high sensitivity (a gauge factor of nearly 500) and a relatively wide working range (0-50% applied strain) with good linearity (a correlation coefficient of 0.98). In addition, the facile, nearly all-solution-based fabrication protocol enabled the scalable production of long conductive yarns. Thus, the proper yarn length and superb mechanical properties endowed the stretchable conductive yarn with good weavability. The excellent wearability of the stretchable conductive yarn was derived from the outermost isolating, hydrophobic, and biocompatible silicone encapsulation layer. A wearable high-sensitivity strain sensing textile, fabricated by directly weaving the as-prepared yarn-based sensor, showed great potential for application to wearable textile sensors for real-time monitoring of human motions from vigorous walking to subtle and complex pronunciations.

Urban green space promotes the health of urban residents,enhances urban ecosystem biodiversity,mitigates environmental pollution,and attenuates urban heat island ***,urban vegetation cover is highly heterogeneous and difficult to *** this study,the variation of urban fractional vegetation cover(FVC)in 328 cities in China from 1990 to2022 was quantified based on Landsat satellite data at a 30-m *** was found that from 1990 to 2005,due to increases in building density and impervious surfaces in cities,the national mean urban vegetation cover decreased from 0.38 to ***2005,urban vegetation cover began to reverse,reaching 0.45 in *** increasing trend was most pronounced in newly built urban *** decrease in average urban vegetation cover before 2005 was mainly due to the expansion of low vegetation cover areas,while the increase in urban vegetation cover after 2005 manifested as the expansion of high vegetation cover *** reversal in the trend of urban vegetation cover change after 2004 is related to the gradual implementation of national policies requiring increased urban green space *** urban gross domestic product(GDP)showed the highest correlation with changes in urban vegetation *** large and medium-sized cities,the top three factors influencing vegetation cover were GDP,urban population,and ***,for cities in arid/semi-arid regions,changes in vegetation cover were more sensitive to climatic factors(such as precipitation).Although the urban vegetation cover in China has substantially increased in recent years,the urban green space in small-sized cities and in the old urban districts of large-sized cities still have room to improve.

Field computation, an emerging computation technique, has inspired passion of intelligence science research. A novel field computation model based on the magnetic field theory is constructed. The proposed magnetic field computation （MFC） model consists of a field simulator, a non-derivative optimization algo- rithm and an auxiliary data processing unit. The mathematical model is deduced and proved that the MFC model is equivalent to a quadratic discriminant function. Furthermore, the finite element prototype is derived, and the simulator is developed, combining with particle swarm optimizer for the field configuration. Two benchmark classification experiments are studied in the numerical experiment, and one notable advantage is demonstrated that less training samples are required and a better generalization can be achieved.

Cap-like α-Fe2O3 films are fabricated and deposited onto quartz fabric by using radio frequency magnetron sputtering and *** treated fabric sample in this study shows highly sensitive surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) and excellent flexibility,reproducibility and *** addition,the sample can be recovered after a washing process with an organic solvent and repeatedly *** sensitive SERS performance is attributed to chemical enhancement through a charge transfer ***,the SERS performance is also found to be dependent on the light coupling *** the light absorbance rate of the α-Fe2O3 films increases at a wavelength near that of laser light,the film shows excellent sensitivity due to light coupling effect.

We have designed and developed an effective drug delivery system using biocompatible polymer of poly(ethylene glycol)-polyaspartic acid(mPEG-PAsp)for co-loading the chemotherapy drugs paclitaxel(PTX)and cisplatin(CP)in one *** study aimed to improve the anti-cancer effi-cacy of combinations of chemotherapy drugs and reduce their side ***-PAsp-(PTX/Pt)nano-micelles disperse well in aqueous solution and have a narrow size distribution(37.863.2 nm)in dynamic light scattering(DLS).Drug release profiles found that CP released at pH 5.5 was signifi-cantly faster than that at pH ***-PAsp-(PTX/Pt)nano-micelles displayed a significantly higher tumor inhibitory effect than mPEG-PAsp-PTX nano-micelles when the polymer concentrations reached 50 lg/*** data indicated that polymer micelles of mPEG-PAsp loaded with the combined drug exert synergistic anti-tumor efficacy on SKOV3 ovarian cells via different action *** from our studies suggested that mPEG-PAsp-(PTX/Pt)nano-micelles are promising alternatives for carrying and improving the delivery of therapeutic drugs with different water solubilities.

In order to enhance the spectral characteristics of the laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy(liBS), the spectral signals of soil samples with different concentrations of KCl and KI additives were analyzed. The optimal laser energy, the lens to sample distance(LTSD) and the delay time were determined. Under the optimum experimental conditions, the spectral intensity, signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) and plasma characteristics of Cd I 288.08 nm and Al I 394.40 nm in soil samples with 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25% and 30% KCl and KI additives were analyzed. The experimental results show that the spectral intensities of Cd and Al in soil samples with 15% KCl are 1.33 times and 1.61 times of that of the original sample, while those with 15% KI are 1.84 times and 1.81 times. The SNR, plasma temperature and electron density are improved. This provides an experimental reference for improving the accuracy of liBS in soil detection.

Objective： To determine the capability of dynamic enhanced computed tomography（CT） to differentiate liver metastases（LMs） of well-differentiated from poorly-differentiated gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms（GEP-NENs）.Methods： Patients with LMs of GEP-NENs who underwent dynamic enhanced CT examination in Peking University Cancer Hospital from January 2009 to October 2015 were included and data were retrospectively analyzed. We assessed the qualitative and quantitative CT features to identify the significant differentiating CT features of LMs of poorly-differentiated GEP-NENs from those of well-differentiated GEP-NENs using univariate analysis and a multivariate logistic regression ***： The study included 22 patients with LMs of well-differentiated GEP-NENs and 32 patients with LMs of poorly-differentiated GEP-NENs. Univariate analysis revealed statistically significant differences between the LMs of well-and poorly-differentiated GEP-NENs in terms of feeding arteries（36.4% vs. 75.0%, χ2=8.061,P=0.005）, intratumoral neovascularity（18.2% vs. 59.4%, χ2=9.047, P=0.003）, lymphadenopathy（27.3% vs. 81.2%,χ2=15.733, P〈0.001）, tumor-to-aortic ratio in the hepatic arterial and portal venous phase（T-A/AP： 0.297±0.080 vs.0.251±0.059, t=2.437, P=0.018; T-A/PVP： 0.639±0.138 vs. 0.529±0.117, t=3.163, P=0.003） and tumor-to-liver ratio in the hepatic arterial phase（T-L/AP： 1.108±0.267 vs. 0.907±0.240, t=2.882, P=0.006）. The LMs of poorlydifferentiated GEP-NENs showed more feeding arteries, more intratumoral neovascularity, more lymphadenopathy and a lower tumor-to-aortic ratio. Multivariate analysis suggested that intratumoral neovascularity [P=0.015, OR=0.108, 95% confidence interval（95% CI）, 0.018–0.646], lymphadenopathy（P=0.001,OR=0.055, 95% CI, 0.009–0.323） and T-A/PVP（P=0.004, OR=5.3 E–5, 95% CI, 0.000–0.044） were independent factors for differentiating LMs of poorly-differentiated from well-differentiated ***： Dynamic enhanced CT features
