Preparation and Application of Manganese Dioxide/Graphene Composite in lithium Sulfur Batteries

Graphene/manganese dioxide composites and grapheme/manganese dioxide/sulfur(G/MnO2/S) composite cathode were prepared by hydrothermal method and by vapor permeation, respectively. Their structure, morphology and specific surface area were characterized by X-ray diffraction, electron microanalysis and nitrogen adsorption analysis. The composites show morphology of nanosheets, high specific surface area and even distribution of sulfur. The sulfur accounts for 75% in the G/MnO2/S composite by thermogravimetric analysis. The electrochemical performance of G/S and G/MnO2/S cathode were investigated. The G/MnO2/S composite cathodes show excellent rate performance and cycle stability. At a 0.2C current density, initial discharge specific capacity is 1 061 m A·h·g^-1 and maintains 698 m A·h·g^-1 after 100 cycles;At a 1C current density, maximum discharge capacity reaches 816 m A·h·g^-1 and average capacity decreasing rate is only 0.073%/cycle after running over 400 cycles. Electrochemical mechanism of the composites cathodes was analyzed. The sulfur adsorption of Mn O2 inhibited the loss of active material sulfur, so, the electrochemical performance of the complex was improved.

Electrocatalytic nitrate reduction reaction(e-NO_(3)RR)offers a promising alternative method for nitrogen cycling and ammonia(NH3)production under ambient ***,the method is still in the dilemma of lowering the reaction overpotential and increasing the reaction *** successfully developed the composition-adjustable Co_(6)Mo_(6)C/Co/N-doped carbon(NC)catalysts by in situ carbonization of Co-based metal-organic framework(MOF)with the constrained phosphomolybdic *** adjusting the ratio of Co0 and Co_(6)Mo_(6)C,Co_(6)Mo_(6)C/Co/NC-3 could satisfy both NO_(3)−conversion at low potential and NH_(x)hydrogenation,and synthesize ammonia efficiently through the synergistic effect of Co0 and Co_(6)Mo_(6)*** achieved an ammonia yield rate as 1233.2μg·h^(−1)·mgcat^(−1)and Faradaic efficiency of NH4+93.6%at−0.33 V *** hydrogen electrode(RHE).Importantly,density functional theory(DFT)calculations and experimental results have demonstrated for the first time the excellent adsorption of nitrite(NO_(2)^(−))by the Mo sites of Co_(6)Mo_(6)C during e-NO_(3)RR,avoiding the undesirable accumulation of NO_(2)^(−).

The relentless pursuit of sustainable and safe energy storage technologies hasdriven a departure from conventional lithium-based batteries toward other relevantalternatives. Among these, aqueous batteries have emerged as a promisingcandidate due to their inherent properties of being cost-effective, safe,environmentally friendly, and scalable. However, traditional aqueous systemshave faced limitations stemming from water's narrow electrochemical stabilitywindow (-1.23 V), severely constraining their energy density and viability inhigh-demand applications. Recent advancements in decoupling aqueous batteriesoffer a novel solution to overcome this challenge by separating the anolyteand catholyte, thereby expanding the theoretical operational voltage windowto over 3 V. One key component of this innovative system is the ion-selectivemembrane (ISM), acting as a barrier to prevent undesired crossover betweenelectrolytes. This review provides a comprehensive overview of recent advancementsin decoupling aqueous batteries, emphasizing the application of varioustypes of ISMs. Moreover, we summarize different specially designed ISMs andtheir performance attributes. By addressing the current challenges ISMs face,the review outlines potential pathways for future enhancement and developmentof aqueous decoupling batteries.

Investigation of Different Coke Samples Adhering to Cyclone Walls of a Commercial RFCC Reactor

The microstructure and properties of the coke samples collected from 4 different wall regions of the cyclone in the reactor of a residue fluid catalytic cracking unit(RFCCU) were analyzed by using the scanning-electron microscope(SEM), and the possible coke formation processes were investigated as well. The results showed that some of the heavy nonvolatile oil droplets entrained in the flowing oil and gas mixture could possibly deposit or collide on the walls by gravity settling or turbulence diffusion, and then were gradually carbonized into solid coke by condensing and polymerization along with dehydrogenation. Meanwhile some of fine catalyst particles also built up and integrated into the solid coke. The coke can be classified into two types, namely, the hard coke and the soft coke, according to its property, composition and microstructure. The soft coke is formed in the oil and gas mixture's stagnant region where the oil droplets and catalyst particles are freely settled on the wall. The soft coke appears to be loose and contains lots of large catalyst particles. However, the hard coke is formed in the oil and gas mixture's flowing region where the oil droplets and catalyst particles diffuse towards the wall. This kind of coke is nonporous and very hard, which contains a few fine catalyst particles. Therefore, it is clear that the oil and gas mixture not only carries the oil droplets and catalyst particles, but also has the effects on their deposition on the wall, which can influence the composition and characteristics of deposited coke.

Bi2WO6 quantum dot-intercalated ultrathin montmo- rillonite nanostructure and its enhanced photocatalytic performance

The kinetic competition between electron-hole recombination and water oxidation is a key limitation for the development of efficient solar water splitting materials. In this study, we present a solution for solving this challenge by constructing a quantum dot-intercalated nanostructure. For the first time, we show the interlayer charge of the intercalated nanostructure can significantly inhibit the electron-hole recombination in photocatalysis. For Bi2WO6 quantum dots （QDs） intercalated in a montmorillonite （MMT） nanostructure as an example, the average lifetime of the photogenerated charge carriers was increased from 3.06 μs to 18.8 Ds by constructing the intercalated nanostructure. The increased lifetime markedly improved the photocatalytic performance of Bi2WO6 both in solar water oxidation and environmental purification. This work not oMy provides a method to produce QD-intercalated ultrathin nanostructures but also a general route to design efficient semiconductor-based photoconversion materials for solar fuel generation and environmental purification.

To explore the impact of gene polymorphism of human cytomegalovirus(HCMV)on virus virulence,the full-length UL144 gene and partial sequence of glycoprotein B(UL55)gene were sequenced and analyzed for 23clinical strains of HCMV isolated from urine samples of pediatric patients with congenital or postnatal HCMV *** the 23 isolates,13(57%)were UL144genotype 1A,3(13%)were UL144 genotypes 2 and 7(30%)were UL144 genotype 3;geographic differences in genotype distribution were found for both UL144 and gB *** UL144 genotypes 1B and 1C were found in this study while these two genotypes were common in HCMV strains isolated in the *** results also demonstrated that for all clinical strains of gB genotypes I,III and UL144genotypes 1A,2,and 3 found in this study,mother-to-fetus vertical transmission was possible.

Bismuth(Bi)-doped photonic materials, which exhibit broadband near-infrared(NIR) luminescence(1000–1600 nm), are evolving into interesting gain media. However, the traditional methods have shown their limitations in enhancing Bi NIR emission, especially in the microregion. Consequently, the typical NIR emission has seldom been achieved in Bi-doped waveguides, which highly restricts the application of Bi-activated ***, superbroadband Bi NIR emission is induced in situ instantly in the grating region by a femtosecond(fs)laser inside borosilicate glasses. A series of structural and spectroscopic characterizations are summoned to probe the generation mechanism. And we show how this novel NIR emission in the grating region can be enhanced significantly and erased reversibly. Furthermore, we successfully demonstrate Bi-activated optical *** results present new insights into Bi-doped materials and push the development of broadband waveguide amplification.
