Hydrogel dressings on neurotrophic keratitis in an experimental animal model

AIM:To investigate the therapeutic effects of hydrogel dressings on neurotrophic keratitis in ***:Male Wistar rats,aged 42–56d,were randomly divided into control,experimental,and treatment groups,each consisting of five *** experimental and treatment groups underwent neurotrophic keratitis modeling in both *** successful modeling,biomedical hydrogels formed with polyvinyl alcohol and polyvinyl pyrrolidone were used in treatment group for *** irritation response and keratitis index scores,Schirmer’s test,tear film break-up time(BUT),sodium fluorescein staining,and hematoxylin and eosin(HE)staining were used to evaluate the effectiveness of the ***:The neurotrophic keratitis model was successfully established in rats with severe ophthalmic nerve injury,characterized by keratitis,ocular irritation,reduced tear secretion measured by decreased BUT and Schirmer test values,corneal epithelial loss,and disorganized collagen fibers in the stromal *** treatment with hydrogel dressings,significant improvements were observed in keratitis scores and ocular irritation symptoms in model *** the recovery of tear secretion,as measured by the Schirmer’s test,did not show statistical differences,BUT was significantly *** staining confirmed a reduction in the extent of corneal epithelial loss after *** staining revealed the restoration of the structural disorder in both the epithelial and stromal layers to a certain ***:Hydrogel dressing reduces ocular surface irritation,improves tear film stability,and promotes the repair and restoration of damaged epithelial cells by maintaining a moist and clean environment on the ocular surface in the rat model.

目的研究畏食症患儿血Ghrelin的水平变化及与胰岛素敏感性的关系,探讨Ghrelin在畏食发生、发展中的作用。方法分别测量40例畏食(畏食组)及20例健康儿童(对照组)的身高、体质量、体质量指数(BMI),测定血Ghrelin、胰岛素、血糖值,计算胰岛素敏感性指标(ISI),并对其结果进行对比分析。结果畏食组身高、体质量、BMI明显低于对照组;畏食组Ghrelin及ISI水平明显高于对照组,而血糖及胰岛素水平明显低于对照组,差异有显著性;二组Ghrelin水平均与ISI呈正相关,与血糖、胰岛素水平呈负相关。结论畏食症患儿食欲降低并非由Ghrelin分泌不足所致,畏食儿胰岛素敏感性增高可能是机体对高Ghrelin分泌水平反应。

This study makes a significant progress in addressing the challenges of short-term slope displacement prediction in the Universal Landslide Monitoring Program,an unprecedented disaster mitigation program in China,where lots of newly established monitoring slopes lack sufficient historical deformation data,making it difficult to extract deformation patterns and provide effective predictions which plays a crucial role in the early warning and forecasting of landslide hazards.A slope displacement prediction method based on transfer learning is therefore ***,the method transfers the deformation patterns learned from slopes with relatively rich deformation data by a pre-trained model based on a multi-slope integrated dataset to newly established monitoring slopes with limited or even no useful data,thus enabling rapid and efficient predictions for these ***,as time goes on and monitoring data accumulates,fine-tuning of the pre-trained model for individual slopes can further improve prediction accuracy,enabling continuous optimization of prediction results.A case study indicates that,after being trained on a multi-slope integrated dataset,the TCN-Transformer model can efficiently serve as a pretrained model for displacement prediction at newly established monitoring *** three-day average RMSE is significantly reduced by 34.6%compared to models trained only on individual slope data,and it also successfully predicts the majority of deformation *** fine-tuned model based on accumulated data on the target newly established monitoring slope further reduced the three-day RMSE by 37.2%,demonstrating a considerable predictive *** conclusion,taking advantage of transfer learning,the proposed slope displacement prediction method effectively utilizes the available data,which enables the rapid deployment and continual refinement of displacement predictions on newly established monitoring slopes.

Herein, we report the first visible-light photoredox-catalyzed carboxylation of aryl epoxides with CO_(2)to synthesize hydroxy acid derivatives. A variety of valuable β-, γ-, δ-, ε–hydroxy acid derivatives are obtained in moderate to high yields under mild conditions. This protocol shows noteworthy functionalgroup compatibility, high chemo-and regioselectivities under transition-metal-free conditions with an inexpensive organo-dye as photosensitizer. Mechanistic studies indicate that the benzylic carbanion is generated as an intermediate via the sequential single electron transfer(SSET) process.

China is among the top nitrous oxide（N2O）-emitting countries, but existing national inventories do not provide full-scale emissions including both natural and anthropogenic sources. We conducted a four-decade（1980–2020） of comprehensive quantification of Chinese N2O inventory using empirical emission factor method for anthropogenic sources and two up-to-date process-based models for natural sources. Total N2O emissions peaked at 2287.4（1774.8–2799.9） Gg N2O yr-1in 2018, and agriculture-developed regions, like the East, Northeast, and Central, were the top N2O-emitting regions. Agricultural N2O emissions have started to decrease after 2016 due to the decline of nitrogen fertilization applications, while, industrial and energetic sources have been dramatically increasing after 2005. N2O emissions from agriculture, industry,energy, and waste represented 49.3%, 26.4%, 17.5%, and 6.7% of the anthropogenic emissions in 2020,respectively, which revealed that it is imperative to prioritize N2O emission mitigation in agriculture,industry, and energy. Natural N2O sources, dominated by forests, have been steadily growing from 317.3（290.3–344.1） Gg N2O yr-1in 1980 to 376.2（335.5–407.2） Gg N2O yr-1in 2020. Our study produces a Full-scale Annual N2O dataset in China（FAN2020）, providing emergent counting to refine the current national N2O inventories.

An early scoring system to predict mechanical ventilation for botulism: a single-center-based study

BACKGROUND: Early identification of patients requiring ventilator support will be beneficial for the outcomes of botulism. The present study aimed to establish a new scoring system to predict mechanical ventilation(MV) for botulism ***: A single-center retrospective study was conducted to identify risk factors associated with MV in botulism patients from 2007 to 2022. Univariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis were used to screen out risk factors for constructing a prognostic scoring system. The area under the receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve was ***: A total of 153 patients with botulism(66 males and 87 females, with an average age of 43 years) were included. Of these, 49 patients(32.0%) required MV, including 21(13.7%) with invasive ventilation and 28(18.3%) with non-invasive ventilation. Multivariate analysis revealed that botulinum toxin type, pneumonia, incubation period, degree of hypoxia, and severity of muscle involvement were independent risk factors for MV. These risk factors were incorporated into a multivariate logistic regression analysis to establish a prognostic scoring system. Each risk factor was scored by allocating a weight based on its regression coefficient and rounded to whole numbers for practical utilization([botulinum toxin type A: 1], [pneumonia: 2], [incubation period ≤1 day: 2], [hypoxia <90%: 2], [severity of muscle involvement: grade Ⅱ, 3;gradeⅢ, 7;grade IV, 11]). The scoring system achieved an area under the ROC curve of 0.82(95% CI 0.75–0.89, P<0.001). At the optimal threshold of 9, the scoring system achieved a sensitivity of 83.7% and a specificity of 70.2%.CONCLUSION: Our study identified botulinum toxin type, pneumonia, incubation period, degree of hypoxia, and severity of muscle involvement as independent risk factors for MV in botulism patients. Massive bodies of low-oxygen bottom waters are found in coastal areas worldwide,which are detrimental to coastal *** summer 2020,the response of coastal hypoxia to extreme weather events,including a catastrophic flooding,an extreme marine heatwave,and Typhoon Bavi,is investigated based on multiple satellite,four cruises,and mooring *** extensive fan-shaped hypoxia zone presents significant northward extension during July-September 2020,and is estimated as large as 13 000 km^(2) with rather low oxygen minimum(0.42 mg/L) during its peak in 28-30 *** severe hypoxia is attributed to the persistent strong stratification,which is indicated by flood-induced larger amount of riverine freshwater input and subsequent marine heatwave off the Changjiang River ***,the Typhoon Bavi has limited effect on the marine heatwave and coastal hypoxia in summer 2020.

In the realm of modern information technology,data compression technology occupies a pivotal *** advancements in quantum information technology,the need to compress large-scale qubits ensembles has become urgent,aiming to reduce the demand on quantum storage ***,existing quantum state compression schemes generally face a limitation:the particles before and after compression must reside in the same dimensional *** specific scenarios,compressing qubits into particles of higher dimensions not only enhances the efficiency of quantum state compression but also further reduces the usage of quantum storage *** we experimentally demonstrated a quantum state compression between particles of different dimensions,successfully compressing two qubits into a single *** average fidelity of the resulting qutrit with the ideal quantum state is *** study may have potential applications in future quantum information,such as increasing quantum communication bandwidth and reducing storage resource consumption in quantum computing.
