Complex water movement and insufficient observation stations are the unfavorable factors in improving the accuracy of flow calculation of river networks. A water level updating model for river networks was set up based on a three-step method at key nodes, and model correction values were collected from gauge stations. To improve the accuracy of water level and discharge forecasts for the entire network, the discrete coefficients of the Saint-Venant equations for river sections were regarded as the media carrying the correction values from observation locations to other cross-sections of the river network system. To examine the applicability, the updating model was applied to flow calculation of an ideal river network and the Chengtong section of the Yangtze River. Comparison of the forecast results with the observed data demonstrates that this updating model can improve the forecast accuracy in both ideal and real river networks.

We have studied the topology and epidemic spreading behaviors on the networks in which deactivation mechanism and long-rang connection are coexisted. By means of numerical simulation, we find that the clustering coefficient C and the Pearson correlation coefficient r decrease with increasing long-range connection μ and the topological state of the network changes into that of BA model at the end （when μ = 1）. For the Susceptible-Infect-Susceptible model of epidemics, the epidemic threshold can reach maximum value at μ = 0.4 and presents two different variable states around μ= 0.4.

AIM： To explore the anti-fibrotic effect of Oxymatrine on CCl4-induced liver fibrosis in rats and its modulation on the TGFbeta-Smad signaling pathway. METHODS： One hundred healthy male SD rats were randomly divided into three groups： normal group （n = 20）, treatment group of Oxymatrine （n = 40） and CCh-induced fibrosis group （n = 40）. Experimental hepatic fibrosis was induced by subcutaneous injection of carbon tetrachloride （CCh soluted in liquid paraffin with the concentration of 300 g/L, the dosage of injection was 3 mL/kg, twice per week for 8 wk）. The treated rats received Oxymatrine via celiac injection at a dosage of 10 mg/kg twice a week at the same time. The deposition of collagen was observed with H＆E and Masson staining. The concentration of serum TGF-β1 was assayed with ELISA. The gene expression of Smads and CBP （CREB binding protein） was detected with in situ hybridization （ISH） and immunohistochemistry （IH）, respectively. All the experimental figures were scanned and analyzed with special figure-analysis software. RESULTS： A significant reduction of collagen deposition and rearrangement of the parenchyma was noted in the liver tissue of Oxymatrine-treated rats. The semi- quantitative histological scores （2.43 ± 0.47 μm^2 vs 3.76 ±0.68, P 〈 0.05） and average area of collagen/in those rats were significantly decreased when compared with hepatic cirrhosis model rats （94.41 ± 37.26 μm^2 vs 290.86 ± 89.37 μm^2, P 〈 0.05）. The gene expression of Smad 3 mRNA was considerably decreased in the treated animals. The A value of Smad 3 mRNA was lower in the treated rats than the model rats （0.034 ± 0.090 vs 0.167 ± 0.092, P 〈 0.05）. Contrarily, the A value of Smad 7 mRNA was increased considerably in the treated animals （0.175 ± 0.065 vs 0.074 vs 0.012, P 〈 0.05）. There was an obvious decrease in the expression of CBP mRNA in treated rats as illuminated by a reduction of its A value when compared with model rats （0.065±0.049 vs 0.235 ± 0.025, P 〈 0.001）. Chiral polymer was synthesized by the polymerization of （R）-6,6＇-bistributylstannyl-2,2＇-binaphtho-20-crown-6 （M-1） with 1,4-dibromo-2,3-bisbutoxy-naphthyl （M-2） by Pd（PPhs）4 catalyzed Stille coupling reaction. Both monomer and polymer were analyzed by NMR, MS, FT-IR, UV, polarimetry, DSC-TGA, CD, fluorescent spectroscopy and GPC. The major difference between monomer and polymer is that a long wavelength Cotton Effect was observed for the polymer due to its more extended conjugation in the repeating unit and a highly rigid backbone in the polymer chain. Polymer has strong blue fluorescence due to the efficient energy migration from the extended n-electronic structure of the repeating unit of the polymer to the chiral binaphthyl core and is expected to have potential application in the materials of fluorescent sensors and chiral chromatographic packing for resolution ofracemic amino acid.

Bubble formation is an integral part of the twophase flow *** numerical simulation and experiments using different air flow rates and orifice diameters,the present study aims at investigating the behavior of bubble formation and evolution from vertical wall orifice in quiescent pure *** the experiments,the images of the bubble formation process under different working conditions were recorded using a high-speed camera and analyzed the entire *** bubble formation process can be divided into three stages,namely nucleation,stable growth,and *** to the obtained results,bubble forms only when the air-phase pressure exceeds the threshold pressure at wall *** to the influence of the threshold pressure and buoyancy,the bubble volume decreases with an increase in the wall orifice diameter for the same flow ***,the volume of fluid method is applied to simulate bubble formation in a three-dimensional model and the"buffer volume"is considered in the simulation *** simulation results matched well with the experimental data,which proves the existence of threshold pressure and the periodic pressure fluctuation at the wall orifice.

Cloning of fatty acid elongase1 gene and molecular identification of A and C genome in Brassica species

The fatty acid elongase 1 (FAE1) genes of Brassic napus were cloned from two cultivars, i.e. Zhong- shuan No. 9 with low erucic acid content, and Zhongyou 821 with high erucic acid content, using the degenerate PCR primers. The sequence analysis showed that there was no intron within the FAE1 genes. The FAE1 genes from Zhongyou 821 contained a coding sequence of 1521 nucleotides, and those cloned from Zhongshuan No. 9 contained a 1517 bp coding sequence. Alignment of the FAE1 sequences from Brassica rapa, B. oleracea and B. napus detected 31 single nucleotide polymorphic sites (2.03%), which resulted in 7 amino-acid substitutions. Further analysis indicated that 19 SNPs were genome-specific, of which, 95% were synonymous mutations. The nucleotide substitution at po- sition 1217 in the FAE1 genes led to a specific site of restricted cleavage. An AvrII cleavage site was present only in the C genome genes and absent in the A genome FAE1 genes. Digestion profile of the FAE1 sequences from B. rapa, B. oleracea and B. napus produced with AvrII confirmed that the FAE1 genes of B. oleracea origin was recognized and digested, while that of B. rapa origin could not. The results indicated that by AvrII cleavage it was possible to distinguish B. rapa from B. oleracea and be- tween the A and C genome of B. napus. In addition, the FAE1 genes could be used as marker genes to detect the pollen flow of B. napus, thus providing an alternative method for risk assessment of gene flow.
