Understanding and Detecting Inefficient Image Displaying Issues in Android Apps

Mobile applications(apps for short)often need to display ***,inefficient image displaying(IID)issues are pervasive in mobile apps,and can severely impact app performance and user *** paper first establishes a descriptive framework for the image displaying procedures of IID *** on the descriptive framework,we conduct an empirical study of 216 real-world IID issues collected from 243 popular open-source Android apps to validate the presence and severity of IID issues,and then shed light on these issues’characteristics to support research on effective issue *** the findings of this study,we propose a static IID issue detection tool TAPIR and evaluate it with 243 real-world Android ***,49 and 64 previously-unknown IID issues in two different versions of 16 apps reported by TAPIR are manually confirmed as true positives,respectively,and 16 previously-unknown IID issues reported by TAPIR have been confirmed by developers and 13 have been ***,we further evaluate the performance impact of these detected IID issues and the performance improvement if they are *** results demonstrate that the IID issues detected by TAPIR indeed cause significant performance degradation,which further show the effectiveness and efficiency of TAPIR.

Dynamic software update(DSU)patches programs on the *** often involves the critical task of object transformation that converts live objects of the old-version program to their semantically consistent counterparts under the new-version *** task is accomplished by invoking an object transformer on each stale ***,a defective transformer failing to maintain consistency would cause errors or even crash the *** propose TOAST(Test Object trAnSformaTion),an automated approach to detecting potential inconsistency caused by object *** first analyzes an update to identify multiple target methods and then adopts a fuzzer with specially designed inconsistency guidance to randomly generate object states to drive two versions of a target *** creates two corresponding execution traces and a pair of old and new *** finally performs object transformation to create a transformed object and detects inconsistency between it and the corresponding new object produced from scratch by the new ***,TOAST checks behavior inconsistency by comparing the return variables and exceptions of the two *** evaluation on 130 updates with default transformers shows that TOAST is promising:it got 96.0%precision and 85.7%recall in state inconsistency detection,and 81.4%precision and 94.6%recall in behavior inconsistency *** inconsistency guidance improved the fuzzing efficiency by 14.1%for state inconsistency detection and 40.5%for behavior inconsistency detection.

The adoption of deep neural network(DNN)model as the integral part of real-world software systems necessitates explicit consideration of their quality-of-service(QoS).It is well-known that DNN models are prone to adversarial attacks,and thus it is vitally important to be aware of how robust a modeFs prediction is for a given input instance.A fragile prediction,even with high confidence,is not trustworthy in light of the possibility of adversarial *** propose that DNN models should produce a robustness value as an additional QoS indicator,along with the confidence value,for each prediction they *** approaches for robustness computation are based on adversarial searching,which are usually too expensive to be excised in real *** this paper,we propose to predict,rather than to compute,the robustness measure for each input ***,our approach inspects the output of the neurons of the target model and trains another DNN model to predict the *** focus on convolutional neural network(CNN)models in the current *** show that our approach is accurate,with only 10%-34%additional errors compared with the offline heavy-weight robustness *** also significantly outperforms some alternative *** further validate the effectiveness of the approach when it is applied to detect adversarial attacks and out-of-distribution *** approach demonstrates a better performance than,or at least is comparable to,the state-of-the-art techniques.

Mission-critical software （MCS） must provide continuous, online services to ensure the successful accomplish- ment of critical missions. Self-adaptation is particularly desirable for assuring the quality of service （QoS） and availability of MCS under uncertainty. Few techniques have insofar addressed the issue of MCS self-adaptation, and most existing approaches to software self-adaptation fail to take into account uncertainty in the self-adaptation loop. To tackle this problem, we propose a fuzzy control based approach, i.e., Software Fuzzy Self-Adaptation （SFSA）, with a view to deal with the challenge of MCS self-adaptation under uncertainty. First, we present the SFSA conceptual framework, consisting of sensing, deciding and acting stages, and establish the formal model of SFSA to lay a rigorous and mathematical foundation of our approach. Second, we develop a novel SFSA implementation technology as well as its supporting tool, i.e., the SFSA toolkit, to automate the realization process of SFSA. Finally, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach through the development of an adaptive MCS application in process control systems. Validation experiments show that the fuzzy control based approach proposed in this work is effective and with low overheads.

Thin-film microextraction（TFME）,a new geometry for solid-phase microextraction,has become an attractive sample-preparation *** to other microextraction approaches,the sensitivity of this technique was enhanced without sacrificing the sampling time due to the high surface area-tovolume ratio together with the increase of extraction-phase *** this paper,a new TFME method based on poly（vinylidene fluoride） membrane was developed for the extraction of benzoylurea insecticides（diflubenzuron,triflumuron,hexaflumuron and teflubenzuron） from water samples followed by their determination with high performance liquid chromatography-diode array *** the optimal conditions,good linearity was observed over the concentration range of 0.5-100.0 ng/mL with correlation coefficient greater than *** limits of detection（S/N = 3） of the method for the target analytes were 0.1 ng/*** recoveries ranged from 87.7% to 103.9% with relative standard deviations lower than 6.5%.The results indicated that the developed TFME method is simple,efficient,and cost effective.

Background: Obesity is a common public health issue and is currently deemed a disease. Research has shown that the risk of gallstones in individuals with obesity is elevated. This study aimed to explore the bile proteomics differences between cholelithiasis patients with obesity and normal body weight. Methods: Bile samples from 20 patients(10 with obesity and 10 with normal body weight) who underwent laparoscopic cholecystectomy at our center were subjected to tandem mass tag labeling(TMT) and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry(LC-MS/MS), followed by further bioinformatic analysis. Results: Among the differentially expressed proteins, 23 were upregulated and 67 were downregulated. Bioinformatic analysis indicated that these differentially expressed proteins were mainly involved in cell development, inflammatory responses, glycerolipid metabolic processes, and protein activation cascades. In addition, the activity of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor(PPAR, a subfamily of nuclear receptors) signaling pathway was decreased in the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG) enrichment analysis. Two downregulated proteins in the PPAR signaling pathway, APO A-Ⅰ and APO A-Ⅱ, were confirmed using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Conclusions: The PPAR signaling pathway may play a crucial role in the development of cholelithiasis among patients with obesity. Furthermore, biliary proteomics profiling of gallstones patients with obesity is revealed, providing a reference for future research.
