New application of intestinal obstruction catheter in enterocutaneous fistula:A case report

BACKGROUND Enterocutaneous fistula(ECF)is an abnormal connection between the gastrointestinal tract and the *** can lead to massive body fluid loss,hypercatabolism,and ***,nutritional support plays a crucial role in managing ECFs and promoting the healing of *** nutritional support,enteral nutrition(EN)is the preferred method when gastrointestinal function is ***,various EN approaches have been applied for different anatomical positions of the ***,the effectiveness of administering EN support for treating lower ECFs still needs further exploration and *** SUMMARY We present the case of a 46-year-old male who underwent gastrointestinal stromal tumour *** days after the surgery,the patient presented with fever,fatigue,severe upper abdominal pain,and septic ***,lower ECFs were diagnosed through laboratory and imaging *** addition to symptomatic treatment for homeostasis,total parenteral nutrition support was administered in the first 72 h due to dysfunction of the *** that,we gradually provided EN support through the intestinal obstruction catheter in consideration of the specific anatomic position of the fistula instead of using the nasal jejunal ***,the patient could receive optimal EN support via the catheter,and no complications were found during the *** Nutritional support is a crucial element in ECF management,and intestinal obstruction catheters could be used for early EN administration.

Metal-containing covalent organic frameworks(MCOFs),as a class of crystalline organic polymers with abundant single-atom metal sites,can respond effectively to various vital reactions,including hydrogen evolution reaction(HER),CO_(2) reduction reaction(CO_(2)RR),oxygen reduction reaction(ORR)and oxygen evolution reaction(OER).The advent of MCOFs provides a platform for the establishment of model catalysts with highly repetitive structure to facilitate theoretical calculations and high-throughput screening while designing flexibility in mono-mer construction to lay the foundation for the development of highly selective and active photo/*** this review,we summarize the recent progress in this field and highlight several important MCOFs photo/electrocatalysts for OER,ORR,HER,and CO_(2)***,various approaches are also mentioned to improve or optimize the catalysts and indicate the future research direction on enhancing the performance of MCOFs catalysts based on the current existing challenges.

ITO thin films prepared by electron beam evaporation with End-Hall ion source assisted without heating to the substrate

ITO （indium oxide doped with tin） thin films were deposited on glass substrates by using ITO pellet with a composition of w（In2O3）=90% and w（SnO2）=10% by electron beam evaporated with End-Hall ion source assisted without extra heating. The rate of deposition and flow rate of oxygen were measured and changed to obtain the best properties of ITO thin films. Furthermore, the post annealing process was done in vacuum at different annealing temperatures for 2 h and at 400℃ for different keeping time, respectively. The relation between optical, electrical properties and structure was discussed in detail.

Blue photoluminescence from nanocrystalline porous silicon structure fabricated by high-current pulsed electron beam irradiation

N-type Si(111) wafers have been processed by high-current pulsed electron beam(HCPEB) treatment with an increasing number of irradiation(1, 10 and 20pulses). The results of this work show that a highly porous nanostructure was formed after irradiation. Moreover, the high-density Si nanocrystals(Si-ncs) about 3 nm were distributed on the surface of Si wafers and exhibited3.02 e V Photoluminescence(PL) emission in blue *** PL intensity increases with the increase in the Si-ncs' density in accordance with the quantum confinement model, which can be ascribed to the different pulse time of HCPEB treatment. The possible formation mechanisms of micropores and Si-ncs are discussed.

E2F-1 overexpression inhibits human gastric cancer MGC-803 cell growth in vivo

AIM: To evaluate the influence of E2F-1 on the growth of human gastric cancer(GC) cells in vivo and the mechanism involved. METHODS: E2F-1 recombinant lentiviral vectors were injected into xenograft tumors of MGC-803 cells in nude mice, and then tumor growth was investigated. Overexpression of transcription factor E2F-1 was assessed by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) and Western blotting analysis. Apoptosis rates were determined using a terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated d UTP-biotin nick end labeling(TUNEL) assay. Expression levels of certain cell cycle regulators and apoptosis-related proteins, such as Bax, survivin, Bcl-2, cyclin D1, S-phase kinaseassociated protein 2, and c-Myc were examined by Western blotting and RT-PCR. RESULTS: Xenograft tumors of MGC-803 cells in nude mice injected with E2F-1 recombinant lentiviral vectors stably overexpressed the E2F-1 gene as measured by semi-quantitative RT-PCR(relative m RNA expression: 0.10 ± 0.02 vs 0.05 ± 0.02 for control vector and 0.06 ± 0.03 for no infection; both P < 0.01) and Western blotting(relative protein expression: 1.90 ± 0.05 vs 1.10 ± 0.03 in control vector infected and 1.11 ± 0.02 for no infection; both P < 0.01). The growth-curve of tumor volumes revealed that infection with E2F-1 recombinant lentiviral vectors significantly inhibited the growth of human GC xenografts(2.81 ± 1.02 vs 6.18 ± 1.15 in control vector infected and 5.87 ± 1.23 with no infection; both P < 0.05) at 15 d after treatment. TUNEL analysis demonstrated that E2F-1 overexpression promoted tumor cell apoptosis(18.6% ± 2.3% vs 6.7% ± 1.2% in control vector infected 6.3% ± 1.2% for no infection; both P < 0.05). Multi-endpoint assays reveal more severe toxicity induced by chloraminated effluent organic matter than chloraminated natural organic matter

Disinfection by chloramination produces toxic byproducts and the difference in toxicity of reclaimed and drinking water treated by chloramination remains *** study investigated cytotoxic effects at the same concentrations of dissolved organic matter and showed that chloraminated effluent organic matter(EfOM)induced 1.7 times higher cytotoxicity than chloraminated natural organic matter(NOM)applied to simulate drinking *** EfOM induced more reactive nitrogen species than chloraminated NOM,and chloraminated EfOM and NOM induced similar and higher levels of reactive oxygen species than the negative control,***,intracellular macromolecule damage indicated by DNA/RNA damage marker 8–hydroxy-(deoxy)guanosine and the intracellular protein carbonyl concentration induced by chloraminated EfOM was higher and slightly more than that induced by chloraminated NOM,*** data were consistent with the effects on cell physiological *** cycle arrest mainly occurred in G2 phase by chloraminated EfOM and *** apoptotic cells,which could return to normal,increased upon exposure to high concentrations of chloraminated EfOM and ***,necrotic cells were significantly increased from 0.5%to 2.5%when the concentration increased from 20-to 60-fold chloraminated EfOM,but were not obviously changed by chloraminated *** results indicated that the comprehensive intracellular changes induced by toxic substances in chloraminated EfOM were more irreversible and induced more cell death than chloraminated NOM.

Framework for Preventive Control of Power Systems to Defend Against Extreme Events

Enhancing power system resilience against extreme events is becoming increasingly critical. This paper discusses a unified framework for preventive control of power systems to enhance system resilience, which includes three parts: resilience assessment, resilience grading, and resilience enhancement. First, the resilience assessment contains facility-level and system-level resilience assessment. The concept of fragility curve is used in the facility-level resilience assessment. Various resilience indices are developed in system-level resilience assessment to roundly depict the impacts of extreme events on power systems and determine the system resilience. On this basis, the resilience is divided into different levels by resilience grading strategy, which can efficiently quantify the severity of the impact of extreme events and provide decision-making for the resilience enhancement strategies. Then, control strategies for enhancing power system resilience are also divided according to different resilience levels. A controlled islanding based preventive control is proposed to enhance system resilience, which aims to strengthen the first defensive line of power systems to deal with extreme events. Finally, taking the typhoon disaster in extreme events as an example, two tests carried out with two typhoons demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method.
