Successful multidisciplinary therapy for a patient with liver metastasis from ascending colon adenocarcinoma:A case report and review of literature

BACKGROUND Liver metastasis is the most common form of distant metastasis in colorectal cancer,and the only possible curative treatment for patients with colorectal liver metastases(CRLM)is ***,approximately 25%of patients with CRLM have indications for liver resection at the initial *** aimed at downstaging large or multifocal tumors to enable curative resection are *** SUMMARY A 42-year-old man was diagnosed with ascending colon cancer and liver *** to the huge lesion size and compression of the right portal vein,the liver metastases were initially diagnosed as unresectable *** patient was treated with preoperative transcatheter arterial chemoembolization(TACE)consisting of 5-fluorouracil/Leucovorin/oxaliplatin/Endostar®.After four courses,radical right-sided colectomy and ileum transverse colon anastomosis were ***,the pathological analysis revealed moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma with necrosis and negative ***,S7/S8 partial hepatectomy was performed after two courses of neoadjuvant *** examination of the resected specimen revealed a pathologically complete response(pCR).Intrahepatic recurrence was detected more than two months after the operation,and the patient was then treated with TACE consisting of irinotecan/Leucovorin/fluorouracil therapy plus Endostar®.Subsequently,the patient was treated with aγ-knife to enhance local ***,a pCR was reached,and the patient's overall survival time was>9 *** Multidisciplinary treatment can promote the conversion of initially unresectable colorectal liver metastasis and facilitate complete pathological remission of liver lesions.

Disinfection Byproducts and Their Precursors in Drinking Water Sources:Origins,Influencing Factors,and Environmental Insights

Tracing the contamination origins in water sources and identifying the impacts of natural and human processes are essential for ecological safety and public ***,current analysis approaches are not ideal,as they tend to be laborious,time-consuming,or technically *** byproducts(DBPs)are a family of well-known secondary pollutants formed by the reactions of chemical disinfectants with DBP precursors during water disinfection *** DBP precursors have various origins(e.g.,natural,domestic,industrial,and agricultural sources),and since the formation of DBPs from different precursors in the presence of specific disinfectants is distinctive,we argue that DBPs and DBP precursors can serve as alternative indicators to assess the contamination in water sources and identify pollution *** providing a retrospective of the origins of DBPs and DBP precursors,as well as the specific formation patterns of DBPs from different precursors,this article presents an overview of the impacts of various natural and anthropogenic factors on DBPs and DBP precursors in drinking water *** practice,the DBPs(i.e.,their concentration and speciation)originally present in source water and the DBP precursors determined using DBP formation potential tests—in which water samples are dosed with a stoichiometric excess of specific disinfectants in order to maximize DBP formation under certain reaction conditions—can be considered as alternative *** jointly used with other water quality parameters(e.g.,dissolved organic carbon,dissolved organic nitrogen,fluorescence,and molecular weight distribution)and specific contaminants of emerging concern(e.g.,certain pharmaceuticals and personal care products),DBPs and DBP precursors in drinking water sources can provide a more comprehensive picture of water pollution for better managing water resources and ensuring human health.

In this paper,Let M_(n)denote the maximum of logarithmic general error distribution with parameter v≥***-order expansions for distributions of powered extremes M_(n)^(p)are derived under an optimal choice of normalizing *** is shown that M_(n)^(p),when v=1,converges to the Frechet extreme value distribution at the rate of 1/n,and if v>1 then M_(n)^(p)converges to the Gumbel extreme value distribution at the rate of(loglogn)^(2)=(log n)^(1-1/v).

A correlation between the charge radii difference of mirror partner nucleiΔR_(ch) and the slope parameter L of symmetry energy has been built to ascertain the equation of state of isospin asymmetric nuclear *** this work,the influences of pairing correlations and isoscalar compression modulus on theΔRch are systematically investigated based on the Skyrme energy density functional *** calculated results suggest that the linear correlation betweenΔR_(ch) and L is decreased by the surface pairing *** slope parameter deduced from the difference of charge radii of mirror-pair nuclei ^(32)Ar-^(32)Si,^(36)Ca-^(36)S,^(38)Ca-^(38)Ar,and ^(54)Ni-^(54)Fe falls into the range of L=42.57−50.64 MeV,that is,the rather soft equation of state of asymmetric nuclear ***,the range of the slope parameter can also be influenced by the effective forces classified by various isoscalar incompressibility coefficients.

Creep-Resistant Covalent Adaptable Networks with Excellent SelfHealing and Reprocessing Performance via Phase-Locked Dynamic Covalent Benzopyrazole-Urea Bonds

Covalent adaptive networks(CANs)are capable of undergoing segment rearrangement after being heated,which endows the materials with excellent self-healing and reprocessing performance,providing an efficient solution to the environment pollution caused by the plastic *** main challenge remains in developing CANs with both excellent reprocessing performance and creep-resistance *** this study,a series of CANs containing dynamic covalent benzopyrazole-urea bonds were developed based on the addition reaction between benzopyrazole and isocyanate *** calculation confirmed that relatively low dissociation energy is obtained through undergoing a five-member ring transition state,confirming excellent dynamic property of the benzopyrazole-urea *** verified by the FTIR results,this nice dynamic property can be well maintained after incorporating the benzopyrazole-urea bonds into polymer *** self-healing and reprocessing performance is observed by the 3-ABP/PDMS elastomers owing to the dynamic benzopyrazole-urea *** separation induced by the aggregation of the hard segments locked the benzopyrazole-urea bonds,which also makes the elastomers display excellent creep-resistance *** hard phase locking strategy provides an efficient approach to design CANs materials with both excellent reprocessing and creep-resistance performance.

Identification of high oxygen-consuming substances in stormwater drainage systems illicitly connected with sewage system

The dissolved oxygen content in water is an important indicator for assessing the quality of the water environment,and maintaining a certain amount of dissolved oxygen is essential for the healthy development of the ecological *** a water body is anoxic,the activity of anaerobic microorganisms increases and organic matter is decomposed to produce a large number of blackening and odorizing substances,resulting in black and odorous water bodies,which is a very common and typical phenomenon in ***,there is still a relatively universal occurrence of illicitly connected stormwater and sewage pipes in the urban drainage pipe network in China,which makes oxygen-consuming substances be directly discharged into rivers through stormwater pipes and consume the dissolved oxygen in the water bodies,resulting in an oxygen deficiency of the *** induces seasonal or year-round black and stink phenomena in urban ***,identifying high oxygen-consuming substances,which lays the foundation for the subsequent removal of oxygen-consuming substances,is *** a series of comparisons of water quality indicators and analysis of organic characteristics,it was found that the oxygen consumption capacity of domestic sewage was higher than that of industrial wastewater in the selected area of this study,and the oxygen-consuming substances of domestic sewage were small molecular amino *** comparing 20 conventional free amino acids,it was found that seven of them consumed oxygen easily,and compared with chemical oxygen consumption,biological oxygen consumption was in a leading position.
