Background： Cardiotoxicity is one of the most serious chronic complications ofanthracyclines therapy. Assessment of the left ventricular ejection fraction （LVEF） fails to detect subtle cardiac dysfunction of left ventricular （LV）. This study aimed to detect and evaluate new parameters of subclinical anthracyclines＇ cardiotoxicity in children with solid tumor. Methods： A detailed echocardiographic examination was performed in 36 children with hepatoblastoma or rhabdomyosarcoma after receiving anthracyclines＇ chemotherapy and 36 healthy controls from January 2015 to December 2016. The LVEF, ratio of early diastolic peak velocity of transmitral flow （E） and septal diastolic e＇ mitral annular peak velocity （e＇）, tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion （TAPSE）, and LV global longitudinal strain （GLS） were evaluated using M-mode, tissue Doppler imaging （TDI）, and two-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography （2D-STE）, respectively. Echocardiographic parameters were compared between patient group and healthy controls. All patients were divided into two subgroups based on their anthracyclines＇ cumulative dosage （〈300 mg/m^2 subgroup and ≥300 mg/m^2 subgroup）. Results： All patients had no presentation of heart failure and LVEF within normal range （65.7 ± 5.1%）. Compared with healthy controls, the mean E/e＇ increased significantly （7.9 ±0.7 vs. 10.2 ± 3.5, t = 3.72, P 〈 0.01 ）, mean TAPSE decreased significantly （ 17.2 ± 1.3 mm vs. 14.2 ± 3.0 mm, t = -4.03, P 〈 0.01）, and mean LV GLS decreased significantly （-22.2% ± 1.9% vs. -17.9% ± 2.9%, t = -5.58, P 〈 0.01） in patient group. Compared with subgroup with anthracyclines＇ cumulative dosage 〈 300 mg/m^2, mean LV GLS decreased significantly （- 18.7 ＋ 2.7% vs. - 16.5 ~ 2. 1%, t = 2.15, P = 0.04）, the mean E/e＇ increased significantly （9.1 ±1.5 vs. 11.5 ± 4.9, t = -2.17, P = 0.04）, and mean TAPSE decreased significantly （14.2±2.1 mm vs. 12.5±2.2 mm, t = -2.82, P = 0.02） in subgroup with anthracyclines＇ cumulative dosage 〉300 mg/m^2. Infection is a common problem after implantation,and the currently used Ti-based implants have insufficient antibacterial activities.The newly developed Zr-30Ta and Zr-25Ta-5Ti alloys exhibited good mechanical properties,low elastic moduli,and high corrosion resistance.In this work,their antibacterial activities and antibacterial mechanisms were investigated.The surface roughness,wettability,and charge of the alloys were evaluated using a profilometer,drop shape analyzer,and electrokinetic analyzer,respectively.The antibacterial activity against Streptococcus mutans and Porphyromonas gingivalis was investigated using the inhibition zone assay,plate count assay,live/dead staining,and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).The reactive oxygen species release(ROS)was evaluated using the 2’7’-dichlorodihydrofluorescein diacetate(DCFH-DA)assay.The results demonstrated that Zr-30Ta and Zr-25Ta-5Ti alloys had favorable smooth,hydrophilic,negatively charged surfaces that decreased bacteria adhesion and prevented biofilm formation.Zr-30Ta and Zr-25Ta-5Ti alloys also exhibited a time-dependent decrease in the bacteria adhesion and viability.Zr-30Ta and Zr-25Ta-5Ti alloys were also found to induce direct membrane damage and increase ROS production,resulting in significantly better antibacterial activities than CP-Ti.Zr-30Ta and Zr-25Ta-5Ti alloys exhibited comparable antibacterial activities.This work suggests that the newly developed Zr-30Ta and Zr-25Ta-5Ti alloys have good antibacterial activity against Streptococcus mutans and Porphyromonas gingivalis and are promising candidate materials for dental and orthopedic implants.

Coniopteris simplex is a common component in many Jurassic floras.However,due to morphological variations in sterile fronds and incomplete preservation of reproductive organs,its classification has been controversial for a long time.Here,we present new material collected from the Middle Jurassic Yan’an Formation in the Ordos Basin,Inner Mongolia.The new material reveals important morphological characters,including hemi-dimorphic fronds,two forms of sterile pinnae,short-stalked sori and sporangia on fertile fronds,annulus of sporangium composed of about 30 cells,in situ rounded triangular spores with protruded suture,and the lips of trilete laesura encircled by one or two rows of small ostioles.Based on these observations,we emended the diagnosis of this common species.The spatio-temporal distribution of Coniopteris simplex shows that the iconic species was restricted to the paleolatitudes ranging from 19.5°N to 48.9°N in the Northern Hemisphere during the Early—Late Jurassic,mainly distributed in the tropical to paratropical zones,and the paleolongitude ranging from 9.6°E to 129.3°E,which may be limited by the opening of the Viking Corridor and the splitting of the Central Atlantic Ocean.

As a highly tempting technology to close the carbon cycle,electrochemical CO_(2)reduction calls for the development of highly efficient and durable electrocatalysts.In the current study,Design of Experiments utilizing the response surface method is exploited to predict the optimal process variables for preparing high-performance Cu catalysts,unraveling that the selectivity towards methane or ethylene can be simply modulated by varying the evaporation parameters,among which the Cu film thickness is the most pivotal factor to determine the product selectivity.The predicted optimal catalyst with a low Cu thickness affords a high methane Faradaic efficiency of 70.6%at the partial current density of 211.8 m A cm^(-2),whereas that of a high Cu thickness achieves a high ethylene selectivity of 66.8%at267.2 m A cm^(-2)in the flow cell.Further structure-performance correlation and in-situ electrospectroscopic measurements attribute the high methane selectivity to isolated Cu clusters with low packing density and monotonous lattice structure,and the high ethylene efficiency to coalesced Cu nanoparticles with rich grain boundaries and lattice defects.The high Cu packing density and crystallographic diversity is of essence to promoting C–C coupling by stabilizing*CO and suppressing*H coverage on the catalyst surface.This work highlights the implementation of scientific and mathematic methods to uncover optimal catalysts and mechanistic understandings toward selective electrochemical CO_(2)reduction.

Background Studies have reported that low bone mineral density(BMD)is prevalent in human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)-infected patients;however,the factors that contribute to HIV-related BMD changes are yet to be fully understood.Due to the application of dual X-ray absorptiometry(DXA)among a select group of hospitals only,the prevalence and risk factors of low BMD in HIV-infected populations have not been intensively investigated in China.Thus,the aim of our study was to investigate the prevalence of and risk factors associated with BMD changes among antiretroviral therapy(ART)-naive HIV-positive patients in China.Methods The assessment of the prevalence of and risk factors associated with BMD changes was conducted among 156 ART-naive HIV-infected patients.Demographic and clinical data,as well as results of fasting blood tests were obtained from patients.Further,all patients underwent DXA scans to determine BMD,which was then used to classify patients with osteopenia/osteoporosis.The risk factors of reduced BMD were then evaluated using binary logistic regression.Results Among the 156 ART-naive HIV-infected participants,osteopenia and osteoporosis were diagnosed in 48.7%(76/156)and 4.5%(7/156)of patients,respectively.The lumbar spine was most likely to have reduced BMD(49.4%[77/156]),and the proportion of osteopenia in the left hip(32.7%[51/156])was higher than in the right hip(24.4%[38/156]).In the lumbar spine,bone loss rate in the L1 section(60.9%[95/156])was the most significant(L2,53.2%[83/156];L3,45.5%[71/156];L4,52.6%[82/156]).Further analysis showed that,compared with the neck(26.9%[42/156]in the left,18.6%[29/156]in the right)and the interior(15.4%[24/156]in the left,13.5%[21/156]in the right),the trochanter had the greatest probability of reduced BMD(46.2%[72/156]in the left,28.8%[45/156]in the right).In the risk factor analysis,low body mass index(BMI:<18.5 kg/m2)was positively associated with reduced BMD(Exp(B)=39.743,95%confidence interval:3.234-488.399,P=0.004),and was specifically positively correl

Background： The clinical significance of metabolic syndrome （MS） score, MS, and its individual components with respect to risk prediction of coronary artery disease （CAD） remains unclear. The objective of this study was to investigate whether and to what extent MS score, MS, and its individual components were related to the risk of CAD. Methods： Among 1191 participants who underwent coronary angiography for the confirmation of suspected myocardial ischemia, 858 were included in this study according to the inclusion criteria from September 2010 to June 2013. MS was diagnosed with the 2005 National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment Panel III criteria. The severity of coronary atherosclerosis was assessed by Gensini score. Results： The results showed that the age- and sex-adjusted odds ratios （ORs） tbr CAD were as follows： MS score, 1.327; MS, 2.013; elevated waist circumference, 1.447; reduced high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, 1.654： and elevated fasting glucose, 1.782： all P〈 0.05： whereas for elevated triglycerides, 1.324, and elevated blood pressure, 1.342, both P 〉 0.05. Alter multivariate adjustment, results showed that only MS and elevated fasting glucose were significantly associated with CAD （OR, 1.628, 95% confidence interval [CI], 1.151-2.305, P = 0.006 for elevated fasting glucose, and OR, 1.631, 95% CI, 1.208-2.203, P = 0.001 for MS）. The study showed that only MS score and elevated fasting glucose were significantly associated with Gensini score （standardized coefficient, 0.101, P = 0.031 for elevated fasting glucose and standardized coefficient, 0.103, P = 0.009 for MS score）. Conclusions： The present study demonstrated that MS score, MS, and its individual components might have different contributions to CAD prevalence and severity. MS and elevated fasting glucose were independent risk factors for the prevalence of angiographic CAD whereas MS score and elevated fasting glucose were significantly associated with the severity of CAD.

Objective： To investigate the relationship of poly（ADP-ribose）glycohydrolase（PARG） with poly （ADP-ribose） polymerase（PARP）, vascular endothelial growth factor （VEGF） and basic fibroblast growth factor（b-FGF） in colorectal carcinoma（CRC）. Methods： Immunohistochemical analysis was used to detect PARG, PARP, VEGF and b-FGF in human colorectal carcinoma. Flow cytometry was used to detect PARG and PARP in murine CT26 cell line. Gallotannin （GLTN） was served as PARG inhibitor. Results： The individual positive rates of PARG, PARE VEGF and b-FGF were 55.81%（24/43）, 97.67%（42/43）, 79.07%（34/43） and 81.40%（35/43）, respectively, which were significantly higher than those of control group. The positive PARG was correlated to PARP（r=0.3703, P〈0.05） and b-FGF （r=0.4838, P〈0.05）. The positive PARP was correlated to VEGF （r=0.3968, P〈0.05） and b-FGF （r=0.5610, P〈0.05）. Both PARG and PARP were expressed in CT26 cells. The positive staining rates of PARG and PARP in GLTN-treated group were 7.3% and 52.38%, respectively. They were markedly reduced than those of control group （55.41% and 95.28%, P〈0.01, n=10000）. Conclusion： The data suggest that PARG expression probably plays a role for VEGF and b-FGF expression in colorectal carcinoma.

Objectives: To investigate the protective effects of Shexiang Tongxin Dropping Pill(麝香通心滴丸,STP) on Na2S2O4-induced hypoxia-reoxygenation injury in cardiomyoblast H9c2 cells. Methods: The cell viability and levels of mRNA and protein expression in H9c2 cells were determined following Na2S2O4-induced hypoxia using Hoechst staining, annexin V/propidium iodide(PI) flow cytometry, real-time polymerase chain reaction and Western blot analysis. Results: STP pretreatment signi?cantly increased the viability and inhibited aberrant morphological changes in H9c2 cardiomyoblast cells induced by Na2S2O4 treatment(P<0.05). In addition, STP pretreatment attenuated Na2S2O4-induced hypoxic damage, down-regulated the expression of pro-apoptotic Bax,and up-regulated the expression of anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 in H9c2 cells(P<0.05). Conclusions: STP was strongly cardioprotective in hypoxia-reoxygenation injury by preventing hypoxic damage and inhibiting cellular apoptosis.These results further support the use of STP as an effective drug for the treatment of ischemic heart disease.

Interface engineering in atomically thin transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs)is becoming an important and powerful technique to alter their properties,enabling new optoelectronic applications and quantum devices.Interface engineering in a monolayer WSe_(2)sample via introduction of high-density edges of standing structured graphene nanosheets(GNs)is realized.A strong photoluminescence(PL)emission peak from intravalley and intervalley trions at about 750 nm is observed at the room temperature,which indicated the heavily p-type doping of the monolayer WSe_(2)/thin graphene nanosheet-embedded carbon(TGNEC)film heterostructure.We also successfully triggered the emission of biexcitons(excited state biexciton)in a monolayer WSe_(2),via the electron trapping centers of edge quantum wells of a TGNEC film.The PL emission of a monolayer WSe_(2)/GNEC film is quenched by capturing the photoexcited electrons to reduce the electron-hole recombination rate.This study can be an important benchmark for the extensive understanding of light–matter interaction in TMDs,and their dynamics.
