In this study,a sandwich-type uranium(Ⅵ)-containing silicotungstate KNa11H2(H2O)30[Na(UO2)(SiW9O34)]2·8H2O(1)with new three-dimensional(3D)structure was synthesized and characterized using single-crystal X-ray diffraction,Fourier transform infrared,Raman,solid-state ultraviolet–visible diffuse reflection spectra,thermogravimetric analysis and powder X-ray diffraction.Single crystal analysis revealed that the Na(I)-H2O clusters in 1 showed a two-dimensional structure similar to(4,4)-network and resulted in the formation of a new 3D structure of 1.In addition,it was notable that 1 presented excellent catalytic activity for the synthesis of substituted phenylsulfonyl-1H-pyrazoles via the cyclization reaction of 1,3-diketones with various substituted benzenesulfonyl hydrazides.

Aberrant regulation of DNA methylation plays a crucial causative role in haematological malignancies(HMs).Targeted therapy,aiming for DNA methylation,is an effective mainstay of modem medicine;however,many issues remain to be addressed.The progress of epigenetic studies and the proposed theory of"state-target medicine"have provided conditions to form a new treatment paradigm that combines the"body state adjustment"of CM with targeted therapy.We discussed the correlation between Chinese medicine(CM)syndromes/states and DNA methylation in this paper.Additionally,the latest research findings on the intervention and regulation of DNA methylation in HMs,including the core targets,therapy status,CM compounds and active components of the Chinese materia medica were concisely summarized to establish a theoretical foundation of"state-target synchronous conditioning"pattern of integrative medicine for HMs,simultaneously leading a new perspective in clinical diagnosis and therapy.

Lytic polysaccharide monooxygenases(LPMOs)are important enzymes that boost the hydrolysis of recalcitrant polysaccharides,such as chitin.They are found extensively in different insect species and are classified as auxiliary activities family 15(AA15)LPMOs(LPMO15).Some of them were identified from the insect midgut and proven to act on chitin.However,knowledge about their physiological roles during insect growth and development remains limited.Here,we found that midgut-specific LPMO15s are widely distributed in different insect orders,such as the orthopteran Locusta migratoria and the lepidopteran Bombyx mori.Using L.migratoria as a model insect,the function of midgut-specific LmLPMO15-3 during development was investigated.Double-stranded RNA-mediated downregulation of LmLPMO15-3 expression at the 4th or 5th instar nymph stage severely decreased the survival rate and resulted in lethal phenotypes.Hematoxylin and eosin staining results indicated that the deficient individuals exhibited incompletely digested peritrophic matrix(PM),which suggested that LmLPMO15-3 is essential for the deconstruction of the PM during molting.This study provides direct evidence of the physiological importance of a midgut-specific LPMO15 during insect development.As L.migratoria is one of the most destructive agricultural pests,LmLPMO15-3 is a potential target for pest management.

Inhaled drug-containing nanocarriers have been well applied as an important strategy in pulmonary dis-eases.Acute lung injury(ALI)is characterized by abnormal lung tension and complex pathogenesis,with high mortality because of the limitations of targeted intervention.Accordingly,in the present study,we first identified that the mechanosensitive ion channel Piezo1 participated in the ALI-associated processes induced by lipopolysaccharide(LPS)in vitro and in vivo.Then,chitosan-stabilized bovine serum albu-min nanoparticles(NCs)emulsified with the Piezo1 inhibitor GsMTx4(NC-GsMTx4)were generated and exhibited excellent biocompatibility and biological function.Through aerosol inhalation,NC-GsMTx4 im-proved lung injury and inhibited cell apoptosis in LPS-stressed ALI mice and alleviated pulmonary fibrosis during the later stage of ALI.Mechanistically,GsMTx4 could regulate inflammation and apoptosis in lung epithelial cells via NF-κB and ERK1/2 signaling.In summary,our findings provide new insights into the pathological mechanisms of Piezo1 in ALI progression,and nebulized inhalation of NC-GsMTx4 offers a prospective platform for targeting Piezo1 to treat ALI efficiently and conveniently.

To the Editor:In children’s growth process,regularly monitoring of the growth indices,such as children’s body weight,height,and other physical measurements,is helpful for the early diagnosis of nutritional risk and abnormal growth.[1]Several studies have suggested that hospitalized children,even those with mild clinical conditions,are at risk for developing malnutrition.An early determination of children at risk for developing malnutrition might avoid or diminish nutrition-associated complications and decrease the length of hospital stays.

This study aimed to investigate whether saline silt and sandy loam coastal soils could be reclaimed by micro-sprinkler irrigation.The experiments were run using moderately salt-tolerant tall fescue grass.Micro-sprinkler irrigation in three stages was used to regulate soil matric potential at a 20-cm soil depth.Continued regulation of soil water and salt through micro-sprinkler irrigation consistently resulted in an increasingly large low-salinity region.The application of the three stages of soil wateresalt regulation resulted in an absence of salt accumulation throughout the soil profile and the conversion of highly saline soils into moderately saline soils.There were increases in the plant height,leaf width,leaf length,and tiller numbers of tall fescue throughout the leaching process.The results showed that micro-sprinkler irrigation in three soil water and salt regulation stages can be used to successfully cultivate tall festuca in highly saline coastal soil.This approach achieved better effects in sandy loam soil than in silt soil.Tall fescue showed greater survival rates in sandy loam soil due to the rapid reclamation process,whereas plant growth was higher in silt soil because of effective water conservation.In sandy loam,soil moisture should be maintained during soil reclamation,and in silt soil,soil root-zone environments optimal for the emergence of plants should be quickly established.Micro-sprinkler irrigation can be successfully applied to the cultivation of tall fescue in coastal heavy saline soils under a three-stage soil wateresalt regulation regime.

Previous genome-wide association studies have identified variants in the diacylglycerol kinase kappa （DGKtO gene associated with hypospadias in populations of European descent. However, no variants of DGKKwere confirmed to be associated with hypospadias in a recent Han Chinese study population, likely due to the limited number of single-nucleotide polymorphisms （SNPs） included in the analysis. In this study, we aimed to address the inconsistent results and evaluate the association between DGKK and hypospadias in the Han Chinese population through a more comprehensive analysis of DGKK variants. We conducted association analyses for 17 SNPs in or downstream of DGKKwith hypospadias among 322 cases （58 mild, 113 moderate, 128 severe, and 23 unknown） and 1008 controls. Five SNPs （rs2211122, rs4554617, rs7058226, rs7063116, and rs5915254） in DGKK were significantly associated with hypospadias （P 〈 0.05）, with odds ratios （ORs） of 1.64-1.76. When only mild and moderate cases were compared to controls, 10 SNPs in DGKKwere significant （P〈 0.05）, with ORs of 1.56-2.13. No significant SNP was observed when only severe cases were compared to controls. This study successfully implicated DGKK variants in hypospadias risk among a Han Chinese population, especially for mild/moderate cases. Severe forms of hyposDadias are likely due to other genetic factors.

The effect of cataract surgery on sleep quality:a systematic review and Meta-analysis

AIM： To evaluate the effect of cataract surgery on sleep quality and to compare the difference between ultravioletblocking clear intraocular lens（UVB-IOL） and blue-filtering intraocular lens（BF-IOL） implantation.METHODS： Electronic search was performed of PubM ed, MEDlinE, Embase and the Cochrane Library up to January 2016. Studies were eligible when they evaluated the sleep quality before and after cataract surgery by Pittsburgh sleep quality index（PSQI）. A random/fixed-effects Metaanalysis was used for the pooled estimate. Heterogeneity was assessed with the I2 test. RESULTS： Six studies were selected from 5623 references. Cataract surgery significantly reduced the PSQI scores at postoperative 0-3 mo [mean difference（MD） =-0.62, 95%CI：-1.14 to-0.11, P=0.02, I2=66%] and 3-12 mo（MD=-0.32, 95%CI：-0.62 to-0.02, P=0.04, I2=0）, respectively. Considering different intraocular lens（IOL） implantations, relative postoperative PSQI reduction was found for both UVB-IOL and BF-IOL, but a significant reduction was detected only for UVB-IOL. No significant difference was found with the effect of BF-IOL vs UVB-IOL on sleep quality. CONCLUSION： This study found that cataract surgery significantly improved the PSQI score-derived subjective sleep quality irrespective of the IOL type implanted. These findings highlight a substantial benefit of cataract surgery on systemic health with photoreceptive restoration in addition to visual acuity improvements.

Hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy,which predisposes to neonatal death and neurological sequelae,has a high morbidity,but there is still a lack of effective prevention and treatment in clinical practice.To better understand the pathophysiological mechanism underlying hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy,in this study we compared hypoxic-ischemic reperfusion brain injury and simple hypoxic-ischemic brain injury in neonatal rats.First,based on the conventional RiceVannucci model of hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy,we established a rat model of hypoxic-ischemic reperfusion brain injury by creating a common carotid artery muscle bridge.Then we performed tandem mass tag-based proteomic analysis to identify differentially expressed proteins between the hypoxic-ischemic reperfusion brain injury model and the conventional Rice-Vannucci model and found that the majority were mitochondrial proteins.We also performed transmission electron microscopy and found typical characteristics of ferroptosis,including mitochondrial shrinkage,ruptured mitochondrial membranes,and reduced or absent mitochondrial cristae.Further,both rat models showed high levels of glial fibrillary acidic protein and low levels of myelin basic protein,which are biological indicators of hypoxic-ischemic brain injury and indicate similar degrees of damage.Finally,we found that ferroptosis-related Ferritin(Fth1)and glutathione peroxidase 4 were expressed at higher levels in the brain tissue of rats with hypoxic-ischemic reperfusion brain injury than in rats with simple hypoxic-ischemic brain injury.Based on these results,it appears that the rat model of hypoxic-ischemic reperfusion brain injury is more closely related to the pathophysiology of clinical reperfusion.Reperfusion not only aggravates hypoxic-ischemic brain injury but also activates the anti-ferroptosis system.
