The hot compression behavior and tensile strength after compression of a new Ni-Co-based superalloy produced using electron beam smelting layered(EBSL)solidification technology were investigated.Isothermal compression tests were performed at temperatures of 1120℃and 1150℃,with strain rates of 1 s^(-1) and 0.01 s^(-1),reaching a true strain of 0.51.Tensile strength was evaluated at room temperature.The results revealed that this EBSL technology accelerates dynamic recrystallization(DRX),without compromising the strength of alloy.A significant correlation between the volume fraction of DRX and the strain rate was observed,with higher fractions at lower strain rates,leading to higher tensile strength.Additionally,at the same strain rate,the specimens compressed at 1120℃exhibited higher tensile strength due to undissolvedγ′precipitates.After solution and aging heat treatment,the alloy maintained high tensile strength.The results suggested that the EBSL Ni-Co-based superalloy offers excellent prospects for practical applications.

BACKGROUND Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma(PDAC)is a common cancer with increasing morbidity and mortality due to changes of social environment.AIM To evaluate the significance of serum carbohydrate antigen 19-9(CA19-9)and tumor size changes pre-and post-neoadjuvant therapy(NAT).METHODS This retrospective study was conducted at the Chongqing Key Laboratory of Translational Research for Cancer Metastasis and Individualized Treatment,Chongqing University Cancer Hospital.This study specifically assessed CA19-9 levels and tumor size before and after NAT.RESULTS A total of 156 patients who completed NAT and subsequently underwent tumor resection were included in this study.The average age was 65.4±10.6 years and 72(46.2%)patients were female.Before survival analysis,we defined the post-NAT serum CA19-9 level/pre-NAT serum CA19-9 level as the CA19-9 ratio(CR).The patients were divided into three groups:CR0.5 and1.With regard to tumor size measured by both computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging,we defined the post-NAT tumor size/pre-NAT tumor size as the tumor size ratio(TR).The patients were then divided into three groups:TR0.5 and1.Based on these groups divided according to CR and TR,we performed both overall survival(OS)and disease-free survival(DFS)analyses.Log-rank tests showed that both OS and DFS were significantly different among the groups according to CR and TR(P<0.05).CR and TR after NAT were associated with increased odds of achieving a complete or near-complete pathologic response.Moreover,CR(hazard ratio:1.721,95%CI:1.373-3.762;P=0.006),and TR(hazard ratio:1.435,95%CI:1.275-4.363;P=0.014)were identified as independent factors associated with OS.CONCLUSION This study demonstrated that post-NAT serum CA19-9 level/pre-NAT serum CA19-9 level and post-NAT tumor size/pre-NAT tumor size were independent factors associated with OS in patients with PDAC who received NAT and subsequent surgical resection.

BACKGROUND Colorectal cancer ranks third and second among common and fatal cancers.The treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer(mCRC)is generally based on XELOX in clinical practice,which includes capecitabine(CAP)and oxaliplatin.Serum tumor markers carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA),carbohydrate antigen(CA)125 and CA199 are prognostic factors for various tumors.AIM To investigate evaluating combined bevacizumab(BEV)and XELOX in advanced colorectal cancer:Serum markers CEA,CA125,CA199 analysis.METHODS In this retrospective study,a total of 94 elderly patients diagnosed with mCRC were recruited and subsequently categorized into two groups based on the distinct treatment modalities they received.The control group was treated with XELOX plus CAP(n=47),while the observation group was treated with XELOX plus CAP and BEV(n=47).Several indexes were assessed in both groups,including disease control rate(DCR),incidence of adverse effects,serum marker levels(CEA,CA125,and CA19)and progression-free survival(PFS).RESULTS After 9 wk of treatment,the serum levels of CEA,CA199 and CA125 in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P0.05).CONCLUSION On the basis of XELOX treatment,the combination of BEV and CAP can reduce serum tumor marker levels and prolong PFS in patients with mCRC.

With the advent of the information security era,it is necessary to guarantee the privacy,accuracy,and dependable transfer of pictures.This study presents a new approach to the encryption and compression of color images.It is predicated on 2D compressed sensing(CS)and the hyperchaotic system.First,an optimized Arnold scrambling algorithm is applied to the initial color images to ensure strong security.Then,the processed images are con-currently encrypted and compressed using 2D CS.Among them,chaotic sequences replace traditional random measurement matrices to increase the system’s security.Third,the processed images are re-encrypted using a combination of permutation and diffusion algorithms.In addition,the 2D projected gradient with an embedding decryption(2DPG-ED)algorithm is used to reconstruct images.Compared with the traditional reconstruction algorithm,the 2DPG-ED algorithm can improve security and reduce computational complexity.Furthermore,it has better robustness.The experimental outcome and the performance analysis indicate that this algorithm can withstand malicious attacks and prove the method is effective.

Multiple waves of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) outbreaks have affected numerous countries worldwide. The first case of SARS-CoV-2 reinfection was reported in Hong Kong in August 2020^([1]), leading to increased interest in the effectiveness of natural immunity acquired from primary infection. While data reports vary across countries, all findings indicate that prior SARS-CoV-2 infection provides substantial protection against reinfection^([2]). However, natural immunity from infection with previous non-Omicron or early Omicron sub-lineages offers lower levels of protection against Omicron reinfection, with rates below 60%^([3]) and approximately 75%[4], respectively.

Objective:Qu Du Qiang Fei 1 Hao Fang(QDQF1)is a novel Chinese herbal medicine formula used to treat coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).However,the pharmacological mechanisms of action of QDQF1 remain unclear.The objective of this study was to identify the effective ingredients and biological targets of QDQF1 for COVID-19 treatment.Materials and Methods:The effective ingredients and mechanisms of action of QDQF1 were analyzed by using network pharmacology methods,which included an analysis of the effective ingredients and corresponding targets,COVID-19-related target acquisition,compound-target network analyses,protein-protein interaction network analysis,Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes(KEGG)and Gene Ontology(GO)enrichment analyses,and molecular docking studies.Results:In total,288 effective QDQF1 ingredients were identified.We identified 51 core targets from the 148 targets through an overlap between putative QDQF1 targets and COVID-19-related targets.Six key components,including formononetin,kaempferol,luteolin,naringenin,quercetin,and wogonin were identified through component-target network analyses.GO functional enrichment analysis of the core targets revealed 1296 items,while KEGG pathway enrichment analysis identified 148 signaling pathways.Nine central targets(CCL2,CXCL8,IL1B,IL6,MAPK1,MAPK3,MAPK8,STAT3,and TNF)related to the COVID-19 pathway were identified in the KEGG pathway enrichment analysis.Furthermore,molecular docking analysis suggested that the docking scores of the six key components to the nine central targets were better than those to remdesivir.Conclusions:QDQF1 may regulate multiple immune-and inflammation-related targets to inhibit the progression of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2,and thus,may be suitable for the treatment of COVID-19.

Edge dislocation-induced strains break the limit of PtNi alloys in boosting Pt mass activity for efficient alkaline hydrogen evolution

Creating lattice defects and alloying to produce strain effect in Pt-based bimetallic alloys are both effective methods to optimize the crystal and electronic structure and improve the electrocatalytic performance.Unfortunately,the principles that govern the alkaline hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)performance remain unclear,which is detrimental to the rational design of efficient Pt-based electrocatalysts.Herein,PtNi alloys with different Pt/Ni ratios and edge dislocations were synthesized,and the effects of Pt/Ni composition and edge dislocations on the alkaline HER electrocatalytic activity of PtNi alloys were systematically studied.Combined experimental and theoretical investigations reveal that tuning Pt/Ni ratio results in only 1.1 times enhancements in Pt mass activity,whereas edge dislocations-induced extra tensile strain on Ni site and compressive strain on Pt site further boost the alkaline HER intrinsic activity at all Pt/Ni ratios.Impressively,the introduction of edge dislocations in PtNi alloys could break the limit of alloying in boosting Pt mass activity and result in up to 13.7-fold enhancement,in the case that Pt and Ni contents are nearly identical and thus edge dislocation density reaches the maximum.Fundamental mechanism studies demonstrate that the edge dislocation strategy could make a breakthrough in facilitating water dissociation kinetics of PtNi alloys.

BACKGROUND Chronic kidney disease(CKD)patients have been found to be at risk of concurrent cognitive dysfunction in previous studies,which has now become an important public health issue of widespread concern.AIM To investigate the risk factors for concurrent cognitive dysfunction in patients with CKD.METHODS This is a prospective cohort study conducted among patients with CKD between October 2021 and March 2023.A questionnaire was formulated by literature review and expert consultation and included questions about age,sex,education level,per capita monthly household income,marital status,living condition,payment method,and hypertension.RESULTS Logistic regression analysis showed that patients aged 60-79 years[odds ratio(OR)=1.561,P=0.015]and≥80 years(OR=1.760,P=0.013),participants with middle to high school education(OR=0.820,P=0.027),divorced or widowed individuals(OR=1.37,P=0.032),self-funded patients(OR=2.368,P=0.008),and patients with hypertension(OR=2.011,P=0.041)had a higher risk of cognitive impairment.The risk of cognitive impairment was lower for those with a college degree(OR=0.435,P=0.034)and married individuals.CONCLUSION The risk factors affecting cognitive dysfunction are age,60-79 years and≥80 years;education,primary school education or less;marital status,divorced or widowed;payment method,selffunded;hypertension;and CKD.

Data augmentation is an important task of using existing data to expand data sets.Using generative countermeasure network technology to realize data augmentation has the advantages of high-quality generated samples,simple training,and fewer restrictions on the number of generated samples.However,in the field of transmission line insulator images,the freely synthesized samples are prone to produce fuzzy backgrounds and disordered samples of the main insulator features.To solve the above problems,this paper uses the cycle generative adversarial network(Cycle-GAN)used for domain conversion in the generation countermeasure network as the initial framework and uses the self-attention mechanism and channel attention mechanism to assist the conversion to realize the mutual conversion of different insulator samples.The attention module with prior knowledge is used to build the generation countermeasure network,and the generative adversarial network(GAN)model with local controllable generation is built to realize the directional generation of insulator belt defect samples.The experimental results show that the samples obtained by this method are improved in a number of quality indicators,and the quality effect of the samples obtained is excellent,which has a reference value for the data expansion of insulator images.

Rechargeable aqueous metal-ion batteries(AMBs)have attracted extensive scientific and commercial interest due to their potential for cost-effective,highly safe,and scalable stationary energy storage.However,their limited output voltage,inadequate energy density,and poor reversibility of ambiguous electrode reactions in aqueous electrolytes strongly limit their practical viability.This review aims to elucidate the challenges of existing AMBs from the material design to whole device applications.We summarize the emerging electrochemistry,fundamental properties,and key issues in interfacial behaviors of various classes of prevailing AMBs,including aqueous alkali metal-ion batteries and multivalent-ion batteries,and present an appraisal of recent advances for addressing the performance deficiency.Specifically,the progress of zinc-ion batteries is highlighted to provide a ubiquitous guideline for their commercialization in the grid-scale energy storage.Finally,we figure out the dominating general challenges for achieving high-performance AMBs,laying out a perspective for future breakthroughs.
