Laparoscopic vs open surgery for gastric cancer: Assessing time, recovery, complications, and markers

BACKGROUND Gastric cancer(GC)is one of the most common cancers *** and mortality have increased in recent years,making it an urgent issue to ***-paroscopic radical surgery(LRS)is a crucial method for treating patients with GC;However,its influence on tumor markers is still under *** data of 194 patients treated at Chongqing University Cancer Hospital bet-ween January 2018 and January 2019 were retrospectively *** who underwent traditional open surgery and LRS were assigned to the control(n=90)and observation groups(n=104),*** sample t-tests andχ2 tests were used to compare the two groups based on clinical efficacy,changes in tumor marker levels after treatment,clinical data,and the incidence of posto-perative *** investigate the association between tumor marker levels and clinical efficacy in patients with GC,three-year recurrence rates in the two groups were *** Patients in the observation group had a shorter duration of operation,less in-traoperative blood loss,an earlier postoperative eating time,and a shorter hospital stay than those in the control group(P0.05).After treatment,the overall response rate in the control group was significantly lower than that in the observation group(P=0.001).Furthermore,after treatment,the levels of carbohydrate antigen 19-9,cancer antigen 72-4,carcinoembryonic antigen,and cancer antigen 125 decreased *** observation group also exhibited a significantly lower incidence rate of postoperative complications compared to the control group(P0.05).CONCLUSION LRS effectively treats early gastric cancer by reducing intraoperative bleeding,length of hospital stays,and postoperative complications.I

The size and composition of particulate matter(PM)are pivotal in determining its adverse health *** is important to understand PM's retention by plants to facilitate its atmospheric ***,the distinctions between the size and composition of naturally fallen PM(NFPM)and leaf-deposited PM(LDPM)are not *** we utilize a single-particle aerosol mass spectrometer,coupled with a PM resuspension chamber,to analyze these *** find that LDPM particles are 6.8 e97.3%larger than *** a neural network algorithm based on adaptive resonance theory,we have identified distinct compositional profiles:NFPM predominantly consists of organic carbon(OC;31.2%)and potassium-rich components(19.1%),whereas LDPM are largely composed of crustal species(53.9e60.6%).Interestingly,coniferous species retain higher OC content(11.5e13.7%)compared to broadleaved species(0.5e1.2%),while the levoglucosan content exhibit an opposite *** study highlights the active role of tree leaves in modifying PM composition beyond mere passive capture,advocating for a strategic approach to species selection in urban greening initiatives to enhance PM *** insights provide guidance for urban planners and environmentalists in implementing nature-based solutions to improve urban air quality.

A Novel Divide and Conquer Solution for Long-term Video Salient Object Detection

Recently,a new research trend in our video salient object detection(VSOD)research community has focused on enhancing the detection results via model self-fine-tuning using sparsely mined high-quality keyframes from the given *** such a learning scheme is generally effective,it has a critical limitation,i.e.,the model learned on sparse frames only possesses weak generalization *** situation could become worse on“long”videos since they tend to have intensive scene ***,in such videos,the keyframe information from a longer time span is less relevant to the previous,which could also cause learning conflict and deteriorate the model ***,the learning scheme is usually incapable of handling complex pattern *** solve this problem,we propose a divide-and-conquer framework,which can convert a complex problem domain into multiple simple ***,we devise a novel background consistency analysis(BCA)which effectively divides the mined frames into disjoint *** for each group,we assign an individual deep model on it to capture its key attribute during the fine-tuning *** the testing phase,we design a model-matching strategy,which could dynamically select the best-matched model from those fine-tuned ones to handle the given testing *** experiments show that our method can adapt severe background appearance variation coupling with object movement and obtain robust saliency detection compared with the previous scheme and the state-of-the-art methods.

BACKGROUND Appendiceal intussusception is a pathological condition in which the appendix is inverted into the cecum,which may cause symptoms that resemble those of other gastrointestinal disorders and may induce intestinal *** rarity of this case presentation is the co-occurrence of appendiceal intussusception and cecal adenocarcinoma,a combination that to our knowledge has not previously been reported in the medical *** case provides new insights into the complexities of diagnosing and managing overlapping *** SUMMARY A 25-year-old woman presented with persistent periumbilical pain and bloody *** initial biopsy showed cecal cancer;however,subsequent colonoscopy and computed tomography findings raised the suspicion of appendiceal intussus-ception,which was later confirmed *** unique case was charac-terized by a combination of intussusception and adenocarcinoma of the *** intervention included a laparoscopic right hemicolectomy,which led to the histopathological diagnosis of mucinous adenocarcinoma with appendiceal *** patient recovered well postoperatively and was advised to initiate adjuvant *** case highlights not only the importance of considering appendiceal intussusception in the differential diagnosis,but also the possibility of appendicitis and the atypical presentation of neoplastic *** Physicians should consider the possibility of appendiceal intussusception in cases of atypical appendicitis,particularly when associated with neoplastic presentation.

The remarkable properties of carbon nanotubes(CNTs)have led to promising applications in the field of electromagnetic inter-ference(EMI)***,for macroscopic CNT assemblies,such as CNT film,achieving high electrical and mechanical properties remains challenging,which heavily depends on the tube-tube interac-tions of ***,we develop a novel strategy based on metal-organic decomposition(MOD)to fabricate a flexible silver-carbon nanotube(Ag-CNT)*** Ag particles are introduced in situ into the CNT film through annealing of MOD,leading to enhanced tube-tube *** a result,the electrical conductivity of Ag-CNT film is up to 6.82×10^(5) S m^(-1),and the EMI shielding effectiveness of Ag-CNT film with a thickness of~7.8μm exceeds 66 dB in the ultra-broad frequency range(3-40 GHz).The tensile strength and Young’s modulus of Ag-CNT film increase from 30.09±3.14 to 76.06±6.20 MPa(~253%)and from 1.12±0.33 to 8.90±0.97 GPa(~795%),***,the Ag-CNT film exhibits excellent near-field shield-ing performance,which can effectively block wireless *** innovative approach provides an effective route to further apply macroscopic CNT assemblies to future portable and wearable electronic devices.

A case of herpesviral corneal endotheliitis presenting with corneal endothelial defect

Dear Editor,Corneal endotheliitis,first reported in 1982 as an autoimmune disorder by Khodadoust and Attarzadeh[1],is now recognized to be frequently induced by viral infections,including varicella zoster virus(VZV),cytomegalovirus(CMV)and herpes simplex virus(HSV),that can cause inflammatory and immune-related injuries or direct damages to corneal endothelial cells[2-3].In cases with this type of endotheliitis of viral origin,manifestations may include conjunctival ciliary congestion or mixed congestion,corneal subepithelial bulla,localized corneal edema,keratic precipitates(KP)characteristic to the edema area,puckered posterior elastic lamina,mild anterior chamber reaction,intraocular pressure(IOP)elevation in presence of inflammation in trabecular meshwork,and endothelial decompensation[3-4].Accurate diagnosis of viral corneal endotheliitis is challenging due to its complex presentation,leading to a high misdiagnosis *** the best of our knowledge,there was no previous report of viral corneal endotheliitis presenting with corneal endothelial defects in the English literature.

High-pressure capacity expansion and water injection mechanism and indicator curve model for fractured-vuggy carbonate reservoirs

Water injection for oil displacement is one of the most effective ways to develop fractured-vuggy carbonate *** the increase in the number of rounds of water injection,the development effect gradually *** emergence of high-pressure capacity expansion and water injection technology allows increased production from old *** high-pressure capacity expansion and water injection technology has been implemented in practice for nearly 10 years in fractured-vuggy reservoirs,its mechanism remains unclear,and the water injection curve is not *** the past,evaluating its effect could only be done by measuring the injection-production *** this study,we analyze the mechanism of high-pressure capacity expansion and water *** propose a fluid exchange index for high-pressure capacity expansion and water injection and establish a discrete model suitable for high-pressure capacity expansion and water injection curves in fractured-vuggy *** propose the following mechanisms:replenishing energy,increasing energy,replacing energy,and releasing *** above mechanisms can be identified by the high-pressure capacity expansion and water injection curve of the well HA6X in the Halahatang Oilfield in the Tarim *** solving the basic model,the relative errors of Reservoirs I and II are found to be 1.9%and 1.5%,respectively,and the application of field examples demonstrates that our proposed high-pressure capacity expansion and water injection indicator curve is reasonable and *** research can provide theoretical support for high-pressure capacity expansion and water injection technology in fracture-vuggy carbonate reservoirs.

Objective This study aimed to understand the epidemic status and phylogenetic relationships of rotavirus group A(RVA)in the Pearl River Delta region of Guangdong Province,*** This study included individuals aged 28 days–85 years.A total of 706 stool samples from patients with acute gastroenteritis collected between January 2019 and January 2020 were analyzed for 17 causative pathogens,including RVA,using a Gastrointestinal Pathogen Panel,followed by genotyping,virus isolation,and complete sequencing to assess the genetic diversity of *** The overall RVA infection rate was 14.59%(103/706),with an irregular epidemiological *** proportion of co-infection with RVA and other pathogens was 39.81%(41/103).Acute gastroenteritis is highly prevalent in young children aged 0–1 year,and RVA is the key pathogen circulating in patients 6–10 months of age with diarrhea.G9P[8](58.25%,60/103)was found to be the predominant genotype in the RVA strains,and the 41 RVA-positive strains that were successfully sequenced belonged to three different RVA genotypes in the phylogenetic *** analysis showed that gene reassortment events,selection pressure,codon usage bias,gene polymorphism,and post-translational modifications(PTMs)occurred in the G9P[8]and G3P[8]*** This study provides molecular evidence of RVA prevalence in the Pearl River Delta region of China,further enriching the existing information on its genetics and evolutionary characteristics and suggesting the emergence of genetic *** the surveillance of genotypic changes and gene reassortment in RVA strains is essential for further research and a better understanding of strain variations for further vaccine development.

Carbendazim,a widely used fungicide in China,has been found to have reproductive toxicity and mutagenic ***,information on the spatial-temporal variations of carbendazim residues in food in China is ***,we investigated the presence of carbendazim in China's plant-based foods from 2011 to 2020,evaluated the spatial-temporal characteristics,and assessed the associated exposure risks in the Chinese *** results revealed a high detection frequency of carbendazim in fruits(26.4%)and high concentrations in vegetables(~110 mg kg^(-1)),indicating widespread misuse of the *** acute risks of consuming certain vegetables and cereals exceeded the recommended limits by up to 12 and 5 times,*** there has been a decline in carbendazim residue levels in food since the implementation of the Chinese government's action plan for zero growth of pesticide use in 2015,some provinces still exhibited high levels of carbendazim in multiple food categories,which were positively correlated with annual pesticide *** highlight that carbendazim contamination reflects the broader issue of pesticide use in *** emphasizes the need for committed and targeted national policies to reduce carbendazim residues in food and suggests that such measures could also regulate the use of other pesticides,given that pesticide abuse in China is not limited to specific *** call for the re-evaluation of maximum residue limits of carbendazim,particularly in highly consumed foods such as cereals.

Neuromorphic computing is known for its efficient computational speed,low latency,and reduced power consumption,which is considered a pivotal technology to overcome the von Neumann *** synapses are an indispensable component of neuromorphic computational artificial neural *** guarantee effective and precise processing of optical signals,it must have a high responsivity,detectivity,and the ability to adapt to various ***,a synaptic transistor based on the HfS_(2)/VO_(2) heterojunction with a responsivity of8.6×10^(3) A·W^(-1)and a detectivity of 1.26×10^(14)Jones at405 nm laser was ***,the typical synaptic behavior was successfully simulated,including postsynaptic currents(PSCs),the transition from shortterm plasticity(STP)to long-term plasticity(LTP).When VO_(2) converts from the semiconductor state to the metal state,the HfS_(2)/VO_(2) heterojunction transforms into a Schottky heterojunction from a TypeⅡheterojunction with ***'s important,the heterojunction still exhibits excellent responsivity and detectivity,as well as stability of synaptic *** addition,the classical Pavlovian conditioning experiment is simulated under different laser intensity to study the brain's associative learning *** results demonstrate that the HfS_(2)/VO_(2) heterojunction synapse exhibits significant responsivity and detectivity and is adaptable to high-temperature environments,showing great potential for neuromorphic computational applic ations.
