AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF FLOW AROUND A BIO-INSPIRED AIRFOIL AT REYNOLDS NUMBER 2.0×10~3

The fluid flow around a bio-inspired airfoil with corrugated surfaces and its smooth counterpart at chord Reynolds number Re = 2.0×10^3. and different Angle-Of-Attack （AOA = 0°, 4°, 8° and 12°） were measured by using Particle Image Velocimetry （PIV）. The global characteristics of the fluid flow around two airfoils were analyzed by ensemble-averaged velocity field, distribution of reverse flow intermittency, and time-series flow visualizations. At AOA = 0°, no significant variation of the global flow patterns was recognized for both configurations. The statistical results of reverse flow intermittency results demonstrated that the protruding peaks of the corrugated airfoil delay flow separation occur at AOA = 4°. At large AOAs （8° and 12°）, however, the flow is massively separated in both configurations, the combination of large separation bubble above the corrugated airfoil and small recirculation zones in the upstream upper valley results in earlier separation of the flow. At AOA=8°, the wake region behind the corrugated airfoil is considerably shortened in comparison to the smooth one, indicating a remarkable reduction of the time-mean lift and drag forces, however, at AOA - 12°, the wake region behind the corrugated one is slightly larger than that behind the smooth one. For the case of AOA = 8° and 12°, the time-series flow visualizations demonstrate the intensified vortex shedding process of the corrugated airfoil, which would give rise to enhanced dynamic loading. Due to the fact that dragonfly wing is practically flexible, it is speculated that the wing structure of a gliding dragonfly might be sophisticatedly deformed in response to the periodic loading to reduce the drag.

Misdiagnosed Angioimmunoblastic T-cell Lymphoma Secondary to Cranial Astrocytoma

A case of angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma （AITL） which was misdiagnosed as adult Still＇s disease was presented. The clinical and laboratory characteristics of this case and related literatures were analyzed and reviewed. The patient was finally diagnosed as AITL （Ann Arbor classification： Stage IIIB） secondary to cranial astrocytoma （WHO classification： Stage III）, complicated with severe pulmonary infection because of long time treatment of corticosteroid and misdiagnosis （about one and a half year）. It is concluded that AITL is a rare disease which was easily misdiagnosed. The diagnosis of AITL should combine the clinical manifestation with pathological biopsy as well as corresponding immunohistochemical tests.

Role of extracellular signal-regulated kinase in regulating expression of interleukin 13 in lymphocytes from an asthmatic rat model

Background The extracellular signal-regulated kinase （ERK） is widely expressed in mammal cells and involved in airway proliferation and remodeling in asthma. In this study, we intend to explore the role of ERK in the expression of the Th2 cytokine, interleukin 13 （IL-13） in lymphocytes in asthma. Methods Forty Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into two groups： normal control and asthmatic groups. Peripheral blood lymphocytes were isolated and purified from the blood of each rat and divided into five groups： control, asthmatic lymphocytes, asthmatic cells stimulated with ERK activator epidermal growth factor （EGF）, or with ERK inhibitor PD98059, or with EGF and PD98059 together. The expression of phosphorylated-ERK （p-ERK） was observed by immunocytochemical staining, the expression of ERK mRNA was determined by reverse transcriptase-PCR, IL-13 protein in supernatants was measured by ELISA. Results （1） The ERK mRNA level and the percentage of cells with p-ERK in lymphocytes from asthmatic rats were significantly higher than those in normal controls, and were significantly increased by EGF administration. This effect of EGF was significantly inhibited by PD98059 pretreatment. （2） IL-13 protein in supernatants of asthmatic lymphocytes was higher than that produced by normal control lymphocytes, and was significantly increased by EGF treatment. This EGF effect was partly blocked by PD98059 pretreatment. （3） There was a significant positive correlation between the percentage of cells with p-ERK in peripheral blood lymphocytes and IL-13 protein in supernatants of lymphocytes from asthmatic rats. Conclusions In asthma the ERK expression and activation levels were increased, as was the protein level of IL-13. The ERK signaling pathway may be involved in the increased expression of the Th2 cytokine IL-13 in asthma.

Expression of Nitric Oxide Synthase Isoenzyme in Lung Tissue of Smokers with and without Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

Background：It has been demonstrated that only 10%-20% cigarette smokers finally suffer chronic obstructive pulmonary disease （COPD）.The underlying mechanism of development remains uncertain so *** oxide （NO） has been found to be closely associated with the pathogenesis of COPD,the alteration of NO synthase （NOS） expression need to be *** study aimed to investigate the alterations of NOS isoforms expressions between smokers with and without COPD,which might be helpful for identifying the susceptibility of smokers developing into ***：Peripheral lung tissues were obtained from 10 nonsmoker control subjects,15 non-COPD smokers,and 15 smokers with *** NOS （nNOS）,inducible NOS （iNOS）,and endothelial NOS （eNOS） mRNA and protein levels were measured in each sample by using real-time polymerase chain reaction and Westem ***：INOS mRNA was significantly increased in patients with COPD compared with nonsmokers and smokers with normal lung function （P 〈 0.001,P =0.001,respectively）.iNOS protein was also higher in COPD patients than nonsmokers and smokers with normal lung function （P 〈 0.01 and P =0.01,respectively）.However,expressions ofnNOS and eNOS did not differ among nonsmokers,smokers with and without ***,there was a negative correlation between iNOS protein level and lung function parameters forced expiratory volume in 1 s （FEV1）（% predicted）（r =-0.549,P =0.001） and FEV1/forced vital capacity （%,r =-0.535,P =0.001）.Conclusions：The expression of iNOS significantly increased in smokers with COPD compared with that in nonsmokers or smokers without *** results suggest that iNOS might be involved in the pathogenesis of COPD,and may be a potential marker to identify the smokers who have more liability to suffer COPD.

Bias polarity-dependent unipolar switching behavior in NiO/SrTiO_3 stacked layer

The identification of the switching location has been a key technology to tune the physical properties of unipolar resistive switching（RS） *** we report the RS properties of Au/Ni O/Sr Ti O3（STO）/Pt memory *** switching repeatability is closely related to the applied bias polarity,which is different from the scenario of the Au/STO/Pt cells reported in our previous *** high resistance in positive bias is greater than that in negative *** R（T）–R0I^2 R（T） plot of the on-state I–V curve shows a regular shape only with a slight bend and an abnormal shape with an abrupt increase and decrease under negative and positive bias,*** comparative experimental results reveal that the conductance filament consisting of oxygen vacancies grows from the cathode to the *** spatial RS location is identified with the weaker part along the conductance filament length direction,which should be near the Ni O/STO interface and STO/Pt interface under positive and negative bias,respectively.

Lipid and sugar homeostasis is critical for insect development and *** this study,we characterized an acetyl coenzyme A carboxylase gene in Blattella germanica(BgACC)that is involved in both lipogenesis and sugar *** found that BgACC was dominantly expressed in the fat body and integument,and was significantly upregulated after *** of BgACC in 5th-instar nymphs did not affect their normal molting to the next nymphal stage,but it caused a lethal phenotype during adult ***-RNA interference(RNAi)significantly downregulated total free fatty acid(FFA)and triacylglycerol(TAG)levels,and also caused a significant decrease of cuticular hydrocarbons(CHCs).Repression of BgACC in adult females affected the development of oocytes and resulted in sterile females,but BgACC-RNAi did not affect the reproductive ability of ***,knockdown of BgACC also changed the expression of insulin-like peptide genes(BglLPs),which mimicked a physiological state of high sugar *** addition,BgACC was upregulated when *** were fed on a high sucrose diet,and repression of BgACC upregulated the expression of the glycogen synthase gene(BgGlyS).Moreover,BgACC-RNAi increased the circulating sugar levels and glycogen storage,and a longevity assay suggested that BgACC was important for the survival of *** under conditions of high sucrose *** results confirm that BgACC is involved in multiple lipid biogenesis and sugar homeostasis processes,which further modulates insect reproduction and sugar *** study benefits our understanding of the crosstalk between lipid and sugar metabolism.

Effect of Ti Particles on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of AZ91 Magnesium Matrix Composites

Spherical micro-Ti particle(TiP)-reinforced AZ91 magnesium alloy composites were fabricated by semi-solid stirring assisted ultrasonic vibration,which were then subjected to hot *** microstructure results showed that the addition of Ti particles refined the grain size and decreased the texture intensity of the as-extruded AZ91 *** Al3Ti phase with a thickness of 100 nm formed at the Ti/Mg interface,which had a non-coherent relationship with the magnesium *** as-extruded 1 vol.%TiP/AZ91 composite exhibited the best comprehensive mechanical properties,with yield strength,ultimate tensile strength,and elongation at break of 366 MPa,456 MPa,and 14.6%,respectively,which were significantly higher than those of the AZ91 ***,the addition of Ti particles can improve the strength and ductility of the AZ91 alloy,demonstrating the value of magnesium matrix composites for commercial applications.

Hyperspectral image super resolution using deep internal and self-supervised learning

By automatically learning the priors embedded in images with powerful modelling ca-pabilities,deep learning-based algorithms have recently made considerable progress in reconstructing the high-resolution hyperspectral(HR-HS)*** previously collected large-amount of external data,these methods are intuitively realised under the full supervision of the ground-truth ***,the database construction in merging the low-resolution(LR)HS(LR-HS)and HR multispectral(MS)or RGB image research paradigm,commonly named as HSI SR,requires collecting corresponding training triplets:HR-MS(RGB),LR-HS and HR-HS image simultaneously,and often faces dif-ficulties in *** learned models with the training datasets collected simultaneously under controlled conditions may significantly degrade the HSI super-resolved perfor-mance to the real images captured under diverse *** handle the above-mentioned limitations,the authors propose to leverage the deep internal and self-supervised learning to solve the HSI SR *** authors advocate that it is possible to train a specific CNN model at test time,called as deep internal learning(DIL),by on-line preparing the training triplet samples from the observed LR-HS/HR-MS(or RGB)images and the down-sampled LR-HS ***,the number of the training triplets extracted solely from the transformed data of the observation itself is extremely few particularly for the HSI SR tasks with large spatial upscale factors,which would result in limited reconstruction *** solve this problem,the authors further exploit deep self-supervised learning(DSL)by considering the observations as the unlabelled training ***,the degradation modules inside the network were elaborated to realise the spatial and spectral down-sampling procedures for transforming the generated HR-HS estimation to the high-resolution RGB/LR-HS approximation,and then the reconstruction errors of the observations were formulated for mea
