Methacrylic acid first was neutralized with an aqueous solution of NaOH to pH = 6.0 similar to 7.0, vinylene carbonate (VCA) was added to the solution, then monomers were copolymerized in paraffin oil by means of reverse-phase suspension polymerization and hydrophilic copolymeric supports were prepared. The properties of the supports were determined using trypsin and results show that the amount of enzymes coupled to the supports and the specific activity of immobilized trypsin are related to the content of VCA structure units, reaction time and concentration of enzyme solution, etc.

The coordination compounds,{Cu[CH_3C_6H_4N(CH_2COO)_2]}.2H_2O and {Cu[CH_3OC_6H_4N(CH_2COO)_2]}.2H_2O,have been prepared and its crystal struc- tures *** final discrepancy factors are R=0.052,R_w=0.061 for (I)and R=0.052,R_w=0.039 for(Ⅱ).The geometry of the coordination poly- hedron with Cu(Ⅱ)is a distorted tetragonal pyramid for(Ⅰ)and an unsym- metrical and extended tetragonal bipyramid for(Ⅱ),*** re- sults of EHMO calculations indicate that the ligand mainly provided the field with very few of its electrons being coordinated to the central atom.

Two novel quadrupolar organic compounds, 3-(4-((E)-2-(9-butyl-9H-carbazol-6-yl) vinyl)styryl)-9-propyl-9H-carbazole (BCSPC) and 3-(3-(3-((1E)-2-(4-((E)-2-(3-(3,5-bis(9-butyl-9H-carbazol-6-yl)phenyl)-9-butyl-9H-carbazol-6-yl)vinyl)phenyl) vinyl)-9-butyl-9H-carbazol-6-yl)-5-(9-butyl-9H-carbazol-6-yl)phenyl)-9-butyl-9H-carbazole (BCPBC), with different conjugated arms, have been designed and synthesized. Their one-and two-photon absorption (TPA) and excited fluorescence properties have been experimentally investigated. The two-photon absorption cross-sections of two compounds were estimated by two-photon excited fluorescence technique using 200 fs, 76 MHz, Ti:sapphire laser, which are 22 and 154 GM for BCSPC and BCPBC, respectively. The optimal excitation wavelengths are 780 nm for both BCSPC and BCPBC. A data recording experiment proved the potential application of the materials.

Divergence of gene expression and alter native splicing is a crucial driving force in the evolution of species;to date, however the molecular mechanism remains unclear. Hybrids of closely related species provide a suitable model to analyze allele-specific expressi on (ASE) and allele-specific alter native splicing (ASS). Analysis of ASE and ASS can uncover the differences in cis-regulatory elements between closely related species, while eliminating interferenee of trans-regulatory elements. Here, we provide a detailed characterization of ASE and ASS from 19 and 10 transcriptome datasets across five tissues from reciprocal-cross hybrids of horsex don key (mule/hi nny) and cattlexyak (dzo), respectively. Results showed that 4.8%-8.7% and 10.8%-16.7% of genes exhibited ASE and ASS, respectively. Notably, IncRNAs and pseudogenes were more likely to show ASE than protein-coding genes. In addition, genes showing ASE and ASS in mule/hinny were found to be involved in the regulation of muscle strength, whereas those of dzo were involved in high-altitude adaptati on. In con clusi on, our study dem on strated that explorati on of genes showing ASE and ASS in hybrids of closely related species is feasible for species evolution research.

The lincosamide class of antibacterials is widely used for the treatment of a broad spectrum of infections, and one prevalent route of resistance to lincosamides in pathogenic gram-positive cocco is antibiotic modification. Enzymes encoded by lin genes, belonging to nucleotidyltransferase superfamily, catalyze adenylylation to inactivate lincosamides. linA can adenylylate lincosamides at either 3?-or 4?-OH of the methylthiolincosamide sugar. The crystal structure of linA/lincomycin has confirmed its active site. However, the residue interacting with nucleotidyl donors remains elusive. Here, we modeled the complex structure of linA/lincomycin/Mg^(2+)/AMPCPP to reveal a putative pocket for nucleotidyl donors and suggested the residue R45 in this pocket involved in the recognition of donor substrates NTP and catalysis. ITC and enzyme activity assays show that the mutation of residue R45 impairs linA nucleotidyltransferase activity in vitro. This work provides insights into the molecular mechanism of the nucleotide binding and transferring activity of antibiotic NTases.
