Among minimally invasive surgical procedures,colorectal surgery is associated with a notably higher incidence of incisional hernia(IH),ranging from 1.7% to 24.3%.This complication poses a significant burden on the healthcare system annually,necessitating urgent attention from *** a study published in the World Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery,Fan et al compared the incidence of IH among 1614 patients who underwent laparoscopic colorectal surgery with different extraction site locations and evaluated the risk factors associated with its *** editorial analyzes the current risk factors for IH after laparoscopic colorectal surgery,emphasizing the impact of obesity,surgical site infection,and the choice of incision location on its ***,we summarize the currently available preventive measures for *** the low surgical repair rate and high recurrence rate associated with IH,prevention deserves greater research and attention compared to treatment.

Insights into the mechanism of L-malic acid on drip loss of chicken meat under commercial conditions

Background A deterioration in the meat quality of broilers has attracted much more attention in recent years.L-malic acid(MA)is evidenced to decrease meat drip loss in broilers,but the underlying molecular mechanisms are still ***’s also not sure whether the outputs obtained under experimental conditions can be obtained in a com-mercial ***,we investigated the effects and mechanisms of dietary MA supplementation on chicken meat drip loss at large-scale *** Results showed that the growth performance and drip loss were improved by MA *** metabolome revealed that L-2-aminoadipic acid,β-aminoisobutyric acid,eicosapentaenoic acid,and nicotinamide,as well as amino acid metabolism pathways connected to the improvements of meat quality by MA *** transcriptome analysis further indicated that the effect of MA on drip loss was also related to the proper immune response,evidenced by the enhanced B cell receptor signaling pathway,NF-κB signaling pathway,TNF signaling pathway,and IL-17 signaling *** We provided evidence that MA decreased chicken meat drip loss under commercial *** and transcriptome revealed a comprehensive understanding of the underlying ***,MA could be used as a promising dietary supplement for enhancing the water-holding capacity of chicken meat.

Tuning the membrane rejection behavior by surface wettability engineering for an effective water-in-oil emulsion separation

Membrane-based separation is a promising technology to eliminate water impurities from the oil ***,it remains a great challenge to separate water from highly emulsified viscous oil owing to the high stability of the water droplets in *** we report a surface wettability engineering on an alumina ceramic membrane to achieve an efficient separation of a water-in-oil(W/O)*** with different carbon chain lengths and fluorinated status were introduced to endow the alumina membrane with different surface *** all the modified membranes exhibited excellent separation of the W/O without Span 80(surfactant),the one with amphiphobic wettability and lowest surface energy failed to separate the Span 80 stabilized W/*** presence of Span 80 reduced the interfacial tension of water droplets,making them easier to deform and penetrate the modified membrane with the lowest surface *** reveals that engineering proper surface wettability is the key to separating the oil and water ***,the modified membranes maintained decent separation performance and stability under long-term run separation of the emulsified W/O.

The dissolution behavior of Al_(2)O_(3) in molten CaF_(2)-CaO-Al_(2)O_(3) slag,a basic slag system of electroslag remelting process,was investigated by rotating cylinder method using corundum rods to simulate Al_(2)O_(3) inclusions in *** experimental results show that the dissolution rate of Al_(2)O_(3);rods in CaF_(2)-CaO-Al_(2)O_(3) slag increases with the increase in rotating speed and temperature,and the rate-controlling step is the mass transfer in the *** dissolution rate of Al_(2)O,in CaF_(2)-CaO-Al_(2)O_(3) slag increases with the increase in the ratio of CaO to Al_(2)O_(3),which is due to the increase in dissolution driving force and the decrease in slag *** apparent activation energy of the mass transfer of AlOs in slag C is calculated to be 222.86 kJ mol^(-1).During the dissolution of Al_(2)0,inclusions in the slag,it reacts with F in liquid slag at first,then reacts with CaO to form the intermediate compounds of xCaO-yAl_(2)O_(3) system,and finally dissolves in molten *** dissolution rate of Al_(2)O_(3) inclusions in CaF_(2)-CaO-Al_(2)O_(3) slag for electroslag remelting is positively correlated with the ratio of the dissolution driving force and slag viscosity,and the correlation coeficient is 2.487×10^(-11).

Development of a prognostic scoring system for hepatic vena cava Budd-Chiari syndrome with hepatocellular carcinoma

Background:Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is a serious complication of hepatic vena cava Budd-Chiari syndrome(HVC-BCS)that significantly reduces the survival time of *** study aimed to analyze the prognostic factors influencing the survival of HVC-BCS patients with HCC and to develop a prognostic scoring ***:The clinical and follow-up data of 64 HVC-BCS patients with HCC who received invasive treatment at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University between January 2015 and December 2019 were retrospectively ***-Meier curves and log-rank tests were used to analyze the survival curve of patients and the difference in prognoses between the *** and multivariate Cox regression analyses were performed to analyze the influence of biochemical,tumor,and etiological characteristics on the total survival time of patients,and a new prognostic scoring system was developed according to the regression coefficients of the independent predictors in the statistical *** prediction efficiency was evaluated using the time-dependent receiver operating characteristics curve and concordance ***:Multivariate analysis showed that serum albumin levelximum tumor diameter>7 cm(HR=8.623,95%CI:3.771-19.715,P<0.001),and inferior vena cava stenosis(HR=3.612,95%CI:1.646-7.928,P=0.001)were independent predictors of survival.A prognostic scoring system was developed according to the above-mentioned independent predictors,and patients were classified into grades A,B,C and *** differences in survival were found among the four ***:This study successfully developed a prognostic scoring system for HVC-BCS patients with HCC,which is helpful for clinical evaluation of patient prognosis.
