Plant-pathogenic Xanthomonas infects a wide variety of host plants and causes many devastating diseases on crops. Transcription activator-like effectors（TALEs） are delivered by a type III secretion system（T3 SS） of Xanthomonas into plant nuclei to directly bind specific DNA sequences（TAL effector-binding elements, EBEs） on either strand of host target genes with an unique modular DNA-binding domain and to bidirectionally drive host gene transcription. The target genes in plants consist of host susceptibility（S） genes promoting disease（ETS） and resistance（R） genes triggering defense（ETI）. Here we generally summarized the discovery of TALEs in Xanthomonas species, their functions in bacterial pathogenicity in plants and their target genes in different host plants, and then focused on the newly revealed modes of protein action in triggering or suppressing plant defense.

Background The second-trimester maternal serum screening in twin pregnancy is still controversial, as the serum marker levels in twins are not as clear as those in singletons. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between the levels of the second-trimester maternal serum free β-human chorionic gonadotropin （free β-HCG） and a-fetoprotein （AFP） in normal twin and singleton pregnancies and to estimate feasible analysis methods for utilizing these markers in second trimester screening for twin pregnancy. Methods On the basis of a prospective population-based study of second-trimester maternal serum screening, the concentrations of maternal serum AFP and free β-HCG of 195 normal twin pregnancy and 26 512 singleton controls at gestational weeks 15 to 20 were measured by time-resolved fluoroimmunoassay in one laboratory. The levels of markers were compared between the twins and singletons using weight-correction and gestational age-specific model. Results According to the research protocol, 95 communities were randomly sampled, which covered the whole Jiangsu province, the east of China. A total of 26 803 pregnant women （98%）, from the target population accepted prenatal screening for maternal serum AFP, β-HCG detection, and all babies were followed up for at least six months. There were 197 （0.73%） twin pregnancies, of which one case had fetal trisomy 18, and one case with fetal anencephaly. The others were normal twin pregnancy. From a total enrollment of 26 803 women participants, 26 512 women with normal singleton pregnancies were selected as the model controls. The other 291 pregnancies, including trisomy 21, neural tube defect （NTD）, trisomy 18, and other fetal abnormalities, were excluded. No significant differences were found in the medians of gestational age-specific maternal serum free β-hCG and AFP in normal twin pregnancy comparing with twice those in model controls with the exception of the medians for free β-hCG during the 16th gestational week （P=0.0

Regulated cell death is a form of cell death that is actively controlled by *** studies have shown that regulated cell death plays a key role after spinal cord *** and ferroptosis are newly discovered types of regulated cell deaths that have been shown to exacerbate inflammation and lead to cell death in damaged spinal ***,a complex form of cell death that is interconnected with various regulated cell death mechanisms,has garnered significant attention in the study of spinal cord *** injury triggers not only cell death but also cellular survival *** signaling pathways play pivotal roles in influencing the processes of both deterioration and repair in spinal cord injury by regulating pyroptosis,ferroptosis,and ***,this review aims to comprehensively examine the mechanisms underlying regulated cell deaths,the signaling pathways that modulate these mechanisms,and the potential therapeutic targets for spinal cord *** analysis suggests that targeting the common regulatory signaling pathways of different regulated cell deaths could be a promising strategy to promote cell survival and enhance the repair of spinal cord ***,a holistic approach that incorporates multiple regulated cell deaths and their regulatory pathways presents a promising multi-target therapeutic strategy for the management of spinal cord injury.

Degenerative cervical myelopathy is a common cause of spinal cord injury,with longer symptom duration and higher myelopathy severity indicating a worse *** numerous studies have investigated serological biomarkers for acute spinal cord injury,few studies have explored such biomarkers for diagnosing degenerative cervical *** study involved 30 patients with degenerative cervical myelopathy(51.3±7.3 years old,12 women and 18 men),seven healthy controls(25.7±1.7 years old,one woman and six men),and nine patients with cervical spondylotic radiculopathy(51.9±8.6 years old,three women and six men).Analysis of blood samples from the three groups showed clear differences in transcriptomic *** analysis identified 128 differentially expressed genes that were enriched in patients with neurological *** least absolute shrinkage and selection operator analysis,we constructed a five-gene model(TBCD,TPM2,PNKD,EIF4G2,and AP5Z1)to diagnose degenerative cervical myelopathy with an accuracy of 93.5%.One-gene models(TCAP and SDHA)identified mild and severe degenerative cervical myelopathy with accuracies of 83.3%and 76.7%,*** of two immune cell types(memory B cells and memory-activated CD4^(+)T cells)predicted levels of lesions in degenerative cervical myelopathy with 80%*** results suggest that peripheral blood RNA biomarkers could be used to predict lesion severity in degenerative cervical myelopathy.

目的观察针刺八髎穴配合推拿治疗L_5-S_1椎间盘突出症的临床疗效及其对炎症因子和免疫指标的影响。方法将86例L_5-S_1椎间盘突出症患者随机分为治疗组和对照组,每组43例。治疗组采用针刺八髎穴配合推拿治疗,对照组采用单纯针刺八髎穴治疗。两组治疗前后分别采用日本骨科协会评估治疗评分(JOA评分)、视觉模拟疼痛评分(VAS评分)、腰椎功能障碍指数(ODI评分)及日常生活能力评分(Barthel评分)评价腰椎功能改善情况,观察两组治疗前后各项炎症因子(TNF-a、IL-6、IL-8、IL-10、IL-1a)及免疫指标(Ig A、Ig G、CD4、CD8)的变化情况,并比较两组临床疗效。结果治疗组总有效率为97.7%,对照组为86.0%,两组比较差异具有统计学意义(P<0.05)。两组治疗后各项评分(JOA评分、VAS评分、ODI评分、Barthel评分)、炎症因子及免疫指标与同组治疗前比较差异均具有统计学意义(P<0.05)。治疗组治疗后各项评分、炎症因子及免疫指标与对照组比较差异均具有统计学意义(P<0.05)。结论八髎穴针刺配合推拿是一种治疗L_5-S_1椎间盘突出症的有效方法,对部分炎症因子及免疫指标有明显的抑制作用。

Blast furnace gas(BFG)is an important by-product energy for the iron and steel industry and has been widely used for heating or electricity ***,the undesirable contaminants in BFG(especially H_(2)S)generate harmful environmental *** desulfurization of BFG is urgent for integrated steel plants due to the stringent ultra-low emission *** with other desulfurization materials,zeolite-based adsorbents represent a viable option with low costs and long service *** this study,an ammonia-induced CuO modified 13X adsorbent(NH3–CuO/13X)was prepared for H_(2)S removal from simulated BFG at low *** XRD,H_(2)-TPR and TEM analysis proved that smaller CuO particles were formed and the dispersion of Cu on the surface of 13X zeolite was improved via the induction of *** on H_(2)S adsorption performance of the adsorbent was carried out using simulated BFG,and the results showed that NH3–CuO/13X-3 has better breakthrough sulfur capacity,which was more than twice the sulfur capacity of CuO/*** is proposed that the enhanced desulfurization performance of NH3–CuO/13X is attributed to an abundant pore of 13X,and combined action of 13X and *** work provided an effective way to improve the sulfur capacity of zeolite-based adsorbents via impregnation method by ammonia induction.
