Thermoplastic polycarbonate polyurethanes(PCUs) are multiblock copolymers that have been applied for medical devices for long time. Aliphatic diols are common chain extenders(CE) involved in the composition of the hard segments of PCU. However, limited knowledge was discovered about how the chemical structure of CE affects the hydrogen bonding organization within PCUs and their mechanical properties.To investigate this problem, a group of PCUs were synthesized respectively by extending the polymer chain with 1,4-butanediol(BDO),aminoethanol(MEA), ethanediol(EO) as three kinds of chain extenders. Tiny differences in the CE chemical structure results in remarkable variations in phase separation, condensed morphologies, thermal and mechanical properties, which are characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectrometer, atomic force microscopy, small-angle X-ray scattering, differential scanning calorimetry, and tensile tests. The microstructural evolution during unilateral deformation and the different mechanism induced by the different CEs was probed and unveil by in situ wide-and small-angle X-ray diffraction. Symmetry of CE can improve the organization of the hydrogen bonding. The coherence strength of the urethane/urea group also plays a key role by comparing the two PCUs with ethanediol and aminoethanol.

Stro ntium-doped lanthanum ferrite(LSF)is a potential ceramic cathode for direct CO_(2) electrolysis in solid oxide electrolysis cells(SOECs),but its application is limited by insufficient catalytic activity and stability in CO_(2)-containing atmospheres.Herein,a novel strategy is proposed to enhance the electrolytic performance as well as chemical stability,achieved by doping F into the O-site of the perovskite LSF.Doping F does not change the phase structure but reduces the cell volume and improves the chemical stability in a CO_(2)-rich atmosphere.Importantly,F doping favors oxygen vacancy formation,increases oxygen vacancy concentration,and enhances the CO_(2) adsorption capability.Meanwhile,doping with F greatly improves the kinetics of the CO_(2) reduction reaction.For example,kchem increases by 78%from3.49×10^(-4) cm s^(-1) to 6.24×10^(-4) cm s^(-1),and Dchem doubles from 4.68×10^(-5) cm^(2) s^(-1) to 9.45×10^(-5)cm^(2) s^(-1).Consequently,doping F significantly increases the electrochemical performance,such as reducing R_(p) by 52.2%from 0.226Ωcm^(2) to 0.108Ωcm^(2) at 800℃.As a result,the single cell with the Fcontaining cathode exhibits an extremely high current density of 2.58 A cm^(-2) at 800℃and 1.5 V,as well as excellent durability over 200 h for direct CO_(2) electrolysis in SOECs.

Human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)infection is a significant and pressing concern for public health worldwide.[1]Midway through the 1990s,the widespread use of antiretroviral therapy(ART)has resulted in a significant paradigm shift in the management of HIV infection,thereby altering its prognosis from a lifethreatening disease to a chronic and managed health condition.According to previous studies,people who are living with HIV(PLWH)that are on current ART have shown a decrease in both the morbidity and mortality associated with HIV infection,along with a decreased risk of transmitting the virus to others.

To the Editor:Keloid is a type of proliferative fibroma that may form after trauma.It is characterized by an exacerbated proliferation and inhibited apoptosis of fibroblasts coupled with an imbalance between synthesis and degradation of collagen in the extracellular matrix.[1]Although surgical resection and combined radiotherapy are effective treatment methods,keloids commonly recur after resection,resulting in decreased patient satisfaction and damage to their physical and mental health.Therefore,search for more effective treatments needs to continue.Dihydroartemisinin(DHA),a derivative of artemisinin isolated from the traditional Chinese herb by the same name,was initially employed as an effective anti-malaria agent with minimal side effects.Studies have shown that DHA prevents the progression of lung,[2]liver,[3]and kidney[4]fibrosis by inhibiting the proliferation of fibroblasts.However,DHA inhibition of keloid fibroblasts or clinical treatment of keloid has not been reported yet.This study explored the possible mechanisms involved in DHA-induced differential expression of multiple genes,mitochondrial mRNA(mt-mRNAs)degradation,cell viability inhibition,and apoptosis in keloid fibroblasts。

A fault-tolerant circuit is required for robust quantum computing in the presence of noise.Clifford+T circuits are widely used in fault-tolerant implementations.As a result,reducing T-depth,T-count,and circuit width has emerged as important optimization goals.A measure-and-fixup approach yields the best T-count for arithmetic operations,but it requires quantum measurements.This paper proposes approximate Toffoli,TR,Peres,and Fredkin gates with optimized T-depth and T-count.Following that,we implement basic arithmetic operations such as quantum modular adder and subtractor using approximate gates that do not require quantum measurements.Then,taking into account the circuit width,T-depth,and T-count,we design and optimize the circuits of two multipliers and a divider.According to the comparative analysis,the proposed multiplier and divider circuits have lower circuit width,T-depth,and T-count than the current works that do not use the measure-and-fixup approach.Significantly,the proposed second multiplier produces approximately 77%T-depth,60%T-count,and 25%width reductions when compared to the existing multipliers without quantum measurements.

Comparative filtration and dewatering behavior of vitrinite and inertinite of bituminous coal:Experiment and simulation study

The filtration and dewatering of fine clean coal not only ensure industrial water recycle in coal washing plant,but also reduce the moisture of coal product in order to meet the requirements of combustion or coking industry.Fine clean coal is mainly composed by organic matter,and the property difference of different organic matter determines the filtration and dewatering behavior.In this investigation,vitrinite and inertinite were separated from a clean bituminous coal,and the comparative filtration and dewatering behavior of vitrinite and inertinite were conducted.The results showed that inertinite has lower dewatering rate and higher filter cake moisture than vitrinite.The analysis of filter cake structure showed that inertinite particle is easier to be broken into small particles due to the difference of mechanical properties,thus forming more compact filter cake than vitrinite.The analysis of particle surface properties showed that vitrinite is more hydrophobic than inertinite,which makes water easier drained from filter cake.The simulation study showed that the structure of inertinite is more porous than that of vitrinite,and the interaction between inertinite and water is stronger than that between vitrinite and water.This study provides a theoretical basis for improving coal dewatering by selectively improving coal maceral hydrophobicity.

AIM: To investigate the associations between demographic and clinical factors with the rate of visual field mean derivation(MD) decline in retinitis pigmentosa(RP) patients.METHODS: Correlations of MDs with the visual acuity and retinal pigmentation were analyzed in 928 RP patients. MD decreasing rate in 10 y and potential influences of gender, age, family history and retinal pigmentation on the rate were explored in 201 RP patients. RESULTS: In the 928 patients, average MD and visual acuity were-14.44±8.61 dB and 0.79±0.35 respectively and when MD was lower than-9.18 dB the visual acuity would be below 1.0(20/20). The average MD medium between eyes with or without retinal pigmentation was-14.82 dB. In 123 non-pigmented eyes, the average MD were lower than the medium but in 153 pigmented eyes it was higher than that. In the 201 patients, the average decreasing value of MD in 10 years’ period was-8.01±3.66 dB and the value were correlated to retinal pigmentation but not to gender, age or RP family history. CONCLUSION: The rate of MD decline in RP eyes is significantly related to retinal pigmentation. Our study demonstrates the quantitative rate of MD decline in RP patients and the value of MD could well reflect the severity of RP.

Hot deformation behavior and microstructure evolution of Be/2024Al composites

The high temperature compression test of Be/2024Al composites with 62wt%Be was conducted at 500–575℃ and strain rate of0.003–0.1 s^(-1).The strain-compensated Arrhenius model and modified Johnson–Cook model were introduced to predict the hot deformation behavior of Be/2024Al composites.The result shows that the activation energy of Be/2024Al composites was 363.364 k J·mol^(-1).Compared with composites reinforced with traditional ceramics,Be/2024Al composites can be deformed with ultra-high content of reinforcement,attributing to the deformable property of Be particles.The average relative error of the two models shows that modified Johnson–Cook model was more suitable for low temperature condition while strain-compensated Arrhenius model was more suitable for high temperature condition.The processing map was generated and a hot extrusion experiment was conducted according to the map.A comparation of the microstructure of Be/2024Al composites before and after extrusion shows that the Be particle deformed coordinately with the matrix and elongated at the extrusion direction.
