Studies from the Far East have demonstrated that D2-dissection is superior to D0/1-dissection. The effect of postoperative chemoradiotherapy(CRT) after D2-dissection has not been accepted due to the lack of D2-dissection in Western countries, as well as the potential harmful effect of radiotherapy. In the current NCCN guideline, adjuvant chemotherapy alone is recommended in D2-dissected patients. However, three recent prospective randomized controlled trials in South Korea and China(ARTIST, NCC and Multicenter IMRT Trials) demonstrated that adjuvant CRT can be safely administered to D2-dissected patients with notable benefits. To identify the role of radiotherapy(RT) in the D2-dissected postoperative setting, clinical research attempts should include(1) identification of high-risk patients for loco-regional recurrence who might benefit from CRT;(2) modification of RT target volume based on the findings that failure patterns should be different after D1- and D2-dissection; and(3) integration of new RT techniques to decrease treatment-related toxicity. The present paper is a review of recent studies addressing these fields. Well-designed prospective randomized studies are needed to clearly define the role of adjuvant CRT in D2-dissected gastric cancer, however, future clinical studies should also focus on answering these questions.

Objective:The aim of this study is to develop a nomogram for prediction of pathologic complete remission(p CR)after preoperative chemoradiotherapy(CRT)for rectal ***:m RNA expression levels of seven molecular markers[p53,p21,Ki-67,vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF),CD133,CD24,CD44]were measured by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction(RTPCR)in 120 rectal *** findings of clinical complete remission(c CR)and biologic variables were used to construct nomogram in the training group(n=80),which was validated in the validation group(n=40).Results:m RNA expression levels of four markers(p53,p21,Ki67,CD133)correlated with p CR(24/80,30.0%)in the training *** expression of p53 and/or high expression of p21,Ki67 and CD133 showed greater p CR rate.p CR was shown in 18(69.2%)of 26 cases showing endoscopic c CR in the training *** p CR rate was demonstrated in lower tumor location than middle tumor(19/49,38.8%vs.5/31,16.1%).A nomogram for prediction of p CR was developed from the multivariate prediction model using these six variables,which showed good discrimination ability in the training group[area under the curve(AUC)=0.945]and validation group(AUC=0.922).The calibration plot showed good agreement between actual and predicted p CR in both patient ***:Nomogram for assessment of p CR can be useful for making treatment decisions after CRT according to predicted responses.

After defining the strong tensor product of strong (sub)chain complenes, it is shown that an analogue of the Kunneth theorem holds in strong homology by proving that the kernel (cokernel) of connecting homomorphisms is isomorphic to the direct sum of torsion (tensor) products of strong homology groups. An isomorphism between strong (r-stage) homology groups of inverse systems is also constructed.

We report the use of ultra-short, pulsed-laser annealed Ti/Au contacts to enhance the performance of multilayer MoS2 field effect transistors （FETs） on flexible plastic substrates without thermal damage. An analysis of the temperature distribution, based on finite difference methods, enabled understanding of the compatibility of our picosecond laser annealing for flexible poly（ethylene naphthalate）（PEN） substrates with low thermal budget （〈 200 ℃）. The reduced contact resistance after laser annealing provided a significant improvement in transistor performance including higher peak field-effect mobility （from 24.84 to 44.84 cm2-V-l.s-1）, increased output resistance （0.42 MΩ at Vgs- Vth = 20 V, a three-fold increase）, a six-fold increase in the self-gain, and decreased sub- threshold swing. Transmission electron microscopy analysis and current-voltage measurements suggested that the reduced contact resistance resulted from the decrease of Schottky barrier width at the MoS2-metal junction. These results demonstrate that selective contact laser annealing is an attractive technology for fabricating low-resistivity metal-semiconductor junctions, providing important implications for the application of high-performance two-dimensional semicon- ductor FETs in flexible electronics.

The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the effects of a trunk exercise program on the gait and muscle activity in stroke patients. The participants of this pilot study included six hemiplegic stroke patients. The outcomes were surface electromyography (sEMG) and spatiotemporal gait parameters. In analysis of sEMG, no statistically difference was found between pre- and post-training of Maximal Voluntary Isometric Contraction (MVIC) in rectus abdominis and external abdominal oblique muscle, but it tended to increase. However, the gait parameter significantly increased in walking speed, walking cycle, and affected stride length in stroke patients. These results suggest that the trunk exercise program may in part improve the gait of chronic stroke patients.

The aim of our study was to recognize different skin conditions of the face and neck using six biophysical parameters and to show the changes after the application of ultrasonic stimulation (US). We assessed the differences in the sebum, moisture, pores, wrinkles, pigmentation, and elasticity of the skin in the face and neck regions. A total of 30 healthy men in their 20s were enrolled. We used a skin diagnosis meter to assess the state of the skin. The sebum and pores of the face were more significant than in the neck. The amount of moisture in the U-zone was significantly higher than in other areas. Statistical differences were found between the pre-and post-measure-ment values in the sebum, moisture, wrinkles and pigmentation. Wrinkles and pigmentation were positively correlated. Our data showed that the changes in skin condition are associated with external stimulants. The effect of US on skin may differ depending on the part of the body, and some biophysical properties of skin vary depending on the location on the body.
