Hydrogels are soft materials consisting of a three-dimensional network of polymer *** the years,hydrogels with different compositions have been developed as drug carriers for diverse biomedical applications,ranging from cancer therapy and wound care to the treatment of neurodegenerative and inflammatory *** of these carriers,however,are designed only to deliver single *** based on hydrogels for co-delivery of multiple agents,with the release rate of each of the co-delivered agents tunable,are *** study reports a one-pot method of fabricating alginate-based complex fibers with the Janus morphology,with carboxymethyl cellulose sodium functioning as a polymeric modifier of the properties of each of the fiber *** using malachite green and minocycline hydrochloride as model drugs,the generated fibers demonstrate the capacity of enabling the release profile of each of the co-delivered drugs to be precisely *** with their negligible toxicity and the retention of the activity of the loaded drugs,the complex fibers reported in this study warrant further development and optimization for applications that involve co-delivery of multiple agents.

In this paper,we present an efficient computational methodology for diffusion and convection-diffusion problems in highly heterogeneous media as well as convection-dominated diffusion *** is well known that the numerical computation for these problems requires a significant amount of computermemory and ***,the solutions to these problems typically contain a coarse component,which is usually the quantity of interest and can be represented with a small number of degrees of *** are many methods that aim at the computation of the coarse component without resolving the full details of the *** proposed method falls into the framework of interior penalty discontinuous Galerkin method,which is proved to be an effective and accurate class of methods for numerical solutions of partial differential equations.A distinctive feature of our method is that the solution space contains two components,namely a coarse space that gives a polynomial approximation to the coarse component in the traditional way and a multiscale space which contains sub-grid structures of the solution and is essential to the computation of the coarse *** addition,stability of the method is *** numerical results indicate that the method can accurately capture the coarse behavior of the solution for problems in highly heterogeneous media as well as boundary and internal layers for convection-dominated problems.

Large-scale key-value stores are widely used in many web-based systems to store huge amount of data as(key, value) pairs. In order to reduce the latency of accessing such(key, value) pairs, an in-memory cache system is usually deployed between the front-end web system and the back-end database system. In practice, a cache system may consist of a number of server nodes, and fault tolerance is a critical feature to maintain the latency Service-Level Agreements(SLAs). In this paper, we present the design, implementation, analysis, and evaluation of R-Memcached, a reliable in-memory key-value cache system that is built on top of the popular Memcached software. R-Memcached exploits coding techniques to achieve reliability, and can tolerate up to two node *** experimental results show that R-Memcached can maintain very good latency and throughput performance even during the period of node failures.

The sediment reaction and diffusion equation,with generalized initial mid boundary condition is studied. By using Laplace transform and Jordan lemma, an analytical solution is got,,which is an extension of analytical solution provided by Cheng Kwokming James ( only diffusion was considered in analytical solution of Cheng). Some problems arisen in the computation of analytical solution formula are also analysed.

Understanding of animal spatial behavior is essential for informed management *** southern Africa,reintroduction of lions(Panthera leo)to small reserves(y 2000s,however studies on their ranging behavior in these enclosed systems remain *** applied Time Local Convex Hull(T-LoCoH)methods to study the home range establishment and utilization of 11 lions reintroduced to Dinokeng Game Reserve,South Africa,during 2011 through *** established home ranges close to their release sites and during the following 3 years their home range sizes continued to increase,but in each individual case the size remained smaller than half of the reserve area(ween the core and the entire home range,with higher frequency of visits found in core *** high rates(>60 separate visits)around the largest dam and along rivers suggest the importance of water and its surrounding vegetation in the lions’space utilization *** home range size did not differ with season or sex of the individuals,whereas shifts in locations of home ranges revealed differences in the response of the 2 sexes to territorial conflicts and management *** study shows a dynamic home range utilization pattern and highlights the importance of both fine-scale space use patterns(frequency and duration of visits)and broadscale home range changes in understanding the ranging behavior of reintroduced animals.

Microlens arrays are the key component in the next generation of 3D imaging system, for it exhibits some good optical properties such as extremely large field of view angles, low aberration and distortion, high temporal resolution and infinite depth of field. Although many fabrication methods or processes are proposed for manufacturing such precision component, however, those methods still need to be improved. In this review, those fabrication methods are categorized into direct and indirect method and compared in detail. Two main challenges in manufacturing microlens array are identified: how to obtain a microlens array with good uniformity in a large area and how to produce the microlens array on a curved surface? In order to effectively achieve control of the geometry of a microlens,indirect methods involving the use of 3D molds and replication technologies are suggested. Further development of ultraprecision machining technology is needed to reduce the surface fluctuation by considering the dynamics of machine tool in tool path planning. Finally, the challenges and opportunities of manufacturing microlens array in industry and academic research are discussed and several principle conclusions are drawn.

The flow field near a spur dike such as down flow and horseshoe vortex system(HVS)are susceptible to the topographic changes in the local scouring process,resulting in variation of the sediment transport with *** this study,large eddy simulations with fixed-bed at different scouring stages were conducted to investigate the changes in flow *** results imply that the bed deformation leads to an increase in flow rate per unit area,which represent the capability of sediment transportation by water,in the scour ***,the intensity of turbulent kinetic energy and bimodal motion near the sand bed induced by the HVS were also ***,the peak moments between the two sediment transport mechanisms were ***,understanding the complex feedback mechanism between topography and flow field is essential for the local scour problem.

The time-dependent wave packet method is used to investigate the influence of laser-fields on the vibrational population of molecules. For a two-state system in laser fields, the populations on different vibrational levels of the upper and lower electronic states are given by wavefunctions obtained by solving the Schrbdinger equation with the split- operator method. The calculation shows that the field parameters, such as intensity, wavelength, duration, and delay time etc. can have different influences on the vibrational population. By varying the laser parameters appropriately one can control the evolution of wave packet and so the vibrational population in each state, which will benefit the light manipulation of atomic and molecular processes.
