Acceptability of an adjunct equine-assisted activities and therapies program for veterans with posttraumatic stress disorder and/or traumatic brain injury

Objective: Equine-assisted activities and therapies(EAATs) have been a growing adjunctive integrative health modality, as they allow participants to practice mindfulness, emotional regulation, and self-mastery or self-esteem building skills. Preliminary evidence suggests that these programs may be helpful in reducing posttraumatic stress disorder(PTSD), anxiety, and depressive symptoms. The current study examines the acceptability of integrating an EAAT program as part of a two-week, intensive clinical program for veterans with PTSD and/or traumatic brain injury(TBI).Methods: A family member or support person could accompany veterans and participate in the *** hundred and six participants(veteran n = 62, family n = 44) left the urban environment in an intensive outpatient program(IOP) to attend a two-day, weekend EAAT in rural New Hampshire. Satisfaction surveys were conducted on the last day of the program and examined using thematic ***: The following themes were reported in the surveys: ability of horses to catalyze emotional rehabilitation, effectiveness of immersion in equine-assisted activities, program’s ability to foster interpersonal relationships and necessity of education about PTSD for staff. Participants also reported enjoying the program as highlighted by qualitative feedback, a mean score of 9.76(standard deviation[SD] = 0.61) as reported by veterans and a mean score of 9.91(SD = 0.29) as reported by family members on a 10-point visual analog scale with higher scores indicating a greater overall ***: These data offer preliminary evidence that an adjunct EAAT program is acceptable for veterans with PTSD and/or TBI participating in an IOP.

The Potential Impacts of National, Regional and International Policies and Legislation on the Sustainable Forest Management for NTFPs： A Swaziland case Study

The objective of this study entails the review and assessment of the relevance of existing and draft policies and legislation that affects the Non-timber Forest Products （NTFP） sector in Swaziland. A hierarchical method of policy and legislation review and analysis was devised for this study. Findings indicated that most national policies and legislation are outdated and old-fashioned, with gaps and overlaps, and there is lack of collaboration between institutions implementing these. The present national forest policy does not adequately guide the development of NTFPs. As a consequence, whilst international policies and legislation capture an excellent spectrum of elements and issues on NTFPs they still remain difficult to implement. However, national level criteria and indicators have issues and elements that are relevant to the sustainable use of NTFPs. It was recommended that national strategies, action plans, policies and legislation be reviewed and updated. The study shows that there are no existing institutional networks or formal collaboration between the institutions involved in the implementation of local, national, regional, and international policies and legislation that affect NTFPs. Government, private sector, Non-Governmental Organizations （NGO＇s）, communities, individuals, and all concerned agencies should jointly develop and implement policies and legislation to provide secure access and benefits to people whose livelihood depends on/is supplemented by NTFPs and further foster networking and collaboration. The immediate adoption and implementation of the 11 policy recommendations on the sustainable management of Non-timber Forest Resources compiled by the Secretariat of the convention on Biodiversity （cBD） from the convention on Biological Diversity is highly recommended. It is worthwhile to note that while some of the 11 recommendations were directly inherited from certain articles of the cBD some are general recommendations.

The nZEB objectives have raised the standard of building performance and changed the way in which buildings are designed and *** energy dynamic simulation tools are potentially the most suitable way for accurately evaluating and forecasting the thermal performance,they need several data inputs and user’s knowledge that can affect the reliability of the *** is precisely these two aspects that proved to be particularly critical,since the reliability of the IcT calculation tools has been widely proven in recent ***,in order to foster credibility in sustainable architecture,bridging the gap between predicted and measured performance is pivotal to boost the building market towards energy efficiency and provide reliable data to inhabitant,investors and policy *** present research aims to identify and quantify the main factors that affect the energy performance gap through a detailed energy analysis carried out on a case study,which can be considered one of the first nearly zero energy residential complex built in *** on the analysis,the study identifies the main causes of the deviation between the calculated and measured data and demonstrates how it is possible to achieve very reliable models and,therefore,real *** the procedure traces a classic model calibration scheme,actually it consists of a verification of possible downstream errors mainly due to human factors,such as the provision of incorrect technical data or inappropriate *** observations on the technical,management and regulatory gaps that may generate these errors are reported at the end of the study,together with practical suggestions that can provide effective solutions.

In the field of robotics and in the health sciences, transitions have been occurring in the control of robots operating with predetermined logic and rules. Robotics in health care are influencing human caring dynamics in many ways such as enhancing dependency and surrender to machine technologies. Situations such as these are charged with possibilities of legal liabilities triggered by influences and consequences of advancing robotic technology dependency. The purpose of this paper is to identify, describe, and explain legal issues and/or dilemmas centered on robotics in healthcare while providing engaging opportunities to limit consequent legalities thus forming beneficial human health care outcomes. Laying bare these liabilities will provide critically informative data that can foster proactive encounters which can or may deter health care liabilities while ensuring quality healthcare outcomes. An attempt is made to re-conceptualize how to view agency, causality, liability responsibility, culpability, and autonomy for the new age of autonomous robots. While it is still not clear how this would turn out, a clear framing of the problem is the first step in the project.

Negotiating a resource package as a potential new department chair is common practice in academic *** foundations for this negotiation include the historical presence of the department in relation to the broader institution,projections for future growth,accounting for mission/vision,resource needs(space,personnel,finances,etc),faculty and staff development,and external partnerships within and outside the *** similarities in this process across departments,many nuances influence the development of a specific new chair package,such as,department size;desires,perspectives and talents of the incoming chair,the department faculty,the medical school and dean;prevailing agendas and mission imperatives;and the overall priorities of the *** strategy and forethought,a new chair package can promote a successful chair tenure and departmental *** through the Association of Departments of Family Medicine with input from several dozen department chairs and senior leaders,this is intended to serve as a practical guide to new chair packages for chair candidates.
