Heat-resistant Al_(2)O_(3) nanowire-polyetherimide separator for safer and faster lithium-ion batteries

Poor heat/flame-resistance of polyolefin(e.g.,polyethylene and polypropylene)separators and high flammability of organic electrolytes used in today’s lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)may trigger rare yet potentially catastrophic safety ***,we mitigate this challenge by developing a heat-resistant and flame-retardant porous composite membrane composed of polyetherimide(PEI)and Al_(2)O_(3) nanowires(NWs).The membranes are fabricated based on an industrially scalable non-solvent-induced phase separation process,which results in an intimately interconnected porous network of Al_(2)O_(3) NWs and *** produced composite membranes exhibit excellent flexibility,thermal stability,and ***,the composite membranes exhibit minimal thermal shrinkage and superior tensile strength(16 MPa)at temperatures as high as 200℃,significantly exceeding the performance of conventional polyolefin *** with commercial separators,their superior wettability and higher ionic conductivity(by up to 2.4 times)when filled with the same electrolyte,larger electrolyte uptake(-190 wt.%),as well as improved cycle and rate performance demonstrated in LiNiMnCoO_(2)(NCM)-based LIBs make them attractive choices for a variety of electrochemical energy storage devices.

Control of a Cheetah Robot in Passive Bounding Gait

Passive dynamics is always one of research emphases of the legged robots. Studies have proved that cheetah robot could achieve stably passive bounding motion under proper initial conditions in the ideal case. However, the actual robot must have energy dissipation because of friction and collision compared with the theoretical model. This paper aims to propose a control method that can drive the cheetah robot running in passive bounding gait. First, a sagittal-plane model with a rigid torso and two compliant legs is introduced to capture the dynamics of robot bounding. Numerical return map studies of the bounding model reveal that there exists a large variety of passively cyclic bounding motions （fixed points）. Based on the distribution law of fixed points, an open-loop control method including touchdown angle control strategy and leg length control strategy is put forward. At last, prototype of the cheetah robot is designed and manufactured, and locomotion experiment are carried out. The experiment results show that the cheetah robot can achieve a stable bounding motion at different speeds with the proposed control method.

Proactive planning of bandwidth resource using simulation-based what-if predictions for Web services in the cloud

Resource planning is becoming an increasingly important and timely problem for cloud *** more Web services are moved to the cloud,minimizing network usage is often a key driver of cost *** existing approaches focus on resources such as CPU,memory,and disk I/*** particular,CPU receives the most attention from researchers,but the bandwidth is somehow *** is challenging to predict the network throughput of modem Web services,due to the factors of diverse and complex response,evolving Web services,and complex network *** this paper,we propose a methodology of what-if analysis,named Log2Sim,to plan the bandwidth resource of Web ***2Sim uses a lightweight workload model to describe user behavior,an automated mining approach to obtain characteristics of workloads and responses from massive Web logs,and traffic-aware simulations to predict the impact on the bandwidth consumption and the response time in changing *** use a real-life Web system and a classic benchmark to evaluate Log2Sim in multiple *** evaluation result shows that Log2Sim has good performance in the prediction of bandwidth *** average relative error is 2%for the benchmark and 8% for the real-life *** for the response time,Log2Sim cannot produce accurate predictions for every single service request,but the simulation results always show similar trends on average response time with the increase of workloads in different changing *** can provide sufficient information for the system administrator in proactive bandwidth planning.

Lidar based on the optical phased array(OPA)and frequency-modulated continuous wave(FMCW)technology stands out in automotive applications due to its all-solid-state design,high reliability,and remarkable resistance to ***,while FMCW coherent detection enhances the interference resistance capabilities,it concurrently results in a significant increase in depth computation,becoming a primary constraint for improving point cloud density in such perception *** address this challenge,this study introduces a lidar solution leveraging the flexible scanning characteristics of *** proposed system categorizes target types within the scene based on RGB ***,it performs scans with varying angular resolutions depending on the importance of the *** results demonstrate that,compared to traditional scanning methods,the target-adaptive method based on semantic segmentation reduces the number of points to about one-quarter while maintaining the resolution of the primary target ***,with a similar number of points,the proposed approach increases the point cloud density of the primary target area by about four times.

Fabrication, mechanical properties, and tribological behaviors of Ti2AlC and Ti2AlSn0.2C solid solutions

Highly pure and dense Ti2AlC and Ti2AlSn0.2C bulks were prepared by hot pressing with molar ratios of 1:1.1:0.9 and 1:0.9:0.2:0.85, respectively, at 1450 °C for 30 min with 28 MPa in Ar atmosphere. The phase compositions were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD); the surface morphology and topography of the crystal grains were also analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The flexural strengths of Ti2AlC and Ti2AlSn0.2C have been measured as 430 and 410 MPa, respectively. Both Vickers hardness decreased slowly as the load increased. The tribological behavior was investigated by dry sliding a low-carbon steel under normal load of 20–80 N and sliding speed of 10–30 m/s. Ti2AlC bulk has a friction coefficient of 0.3–0.45 and a wear rate of (1.64–2.97)×10−6 mm3/(N·m), while Ti2AlSn0.2C bulk has a friction coefficient of 0.25–0.35 and a wear rate of (2.5–4.31)×10−6 mm3/(N·m). The influences of Sn incorporation on the microstructure and properties of Ti2AlC have also been discussed.

Ti2AlC triggered in-situ ultrafine TiC/Inconel 718 composites:Microstructure and enhanced properties

In situ ultrafine TiC dispersion reinforced Inconel 718 alloy with enhanced mechanical properties was fabricated by the technique of reactive hot-press sintering Ti2AlC and In718 *** effect of Ti2AlC precursor additions(5 vol.%,10 vol.%,15 vol.%)on microstructure and mechanical properties of TiC/In718 composites were investigated.A relationship of microstructural characteristics,room and elevated temperature mechanical performance,and underlying strengthening mechanisms were *** results show that initial Ti2AlC precursor transformed completely into ultrafine TiC particulate(~230 nm)and distributed uniformly in the matrix after sintering 5 and 10 vol.%Ti2AlC/***,TiC particulates tended to aggregate to stripes with the addition of Ti2AlC up to 15 vol.%,which,in adverse,weaken the properties of *** 5 vol.%Ti2AlC/In718 sample showed a higher tensile strength of 1404±13 MPa with a noticeable elongation of 9.8%at room temperature compared to the pure In718(ultimate tensile strength(UTS)=1310 MPa,elongation=21.5%).At 600℃,700℃,800℃and 900℃,tensile strength of the as-sintered 5 vol.%Ti2AlC/In718 composite was determined to be 1333±13 MPa,1010±10 MPa,685±25 MPa and 276±3 MPa,increased by 9.2%,14.6%,14.2%and 55%,respectively,compared with that of monolithic In718 *** excellent tensile properties of TiC/In718 composite can be ascribed to the combined mechanisms in term of increased dislocation density,dispersive Orowan and load transfer mechanisms.

异质材料电阻点焊是非线性的复杂物理过程,焊接工艺参数与熔核直径的数学映射模型难以建立。鉴于此,提出结合自适应差分进化算法与级联森林进行电阻点焊熔核直径预测。考虑两层不等厚异质板材电阻点焊实验数据的特征,以材料的物理特性和化学成分表征材料信息,并将工艺和材料视为质量影响因素作为模型的输入特征;分别选择随机森林、XGBoost和LightGBM作为元学习器级联到传统级联森林中,利用自适应差分进化算法搜寻最优超参数确定级联结构,引入SHAP理论分析影响熔核直径的因素及其作用。实验结果表明,经超参数优化的级联森林模型在测试集上的R 2、MSE分别为0.9480、0.0315,优于基线模型,同时确定了熔核直径的重要影响因素,为新材料焊接的工艺参数设计提供依据。

The current coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus(SARS-CoV-2)remains a threat to pregnant ***,the impact of early pregnancy SARS-CoV-2 infection on the maternal-fetal interface remains poorly ***,we present a comprehensive analysis of single-cell transcriptomics and metabolomics in placental samples infected with SARS-CoV-2 during early *** to control placentas,SARS-CoV-2 infection elicited immune responses at the maternal-fetal interface and induced metabolic alterations in amino acid and phospholipid profiles during the initial weeks ***,subsequent immune cell activation and heightened immune tolerance in trophoblast cells established a novel dynamic equilibrium that mitigated the impact on the maternal-fetal ***,the immune response and metabolic alterations at the maternal-fetal interface exhibited a gradual decline during the second *** study underscores the adaptive immune tolerance mechanisms and establishment of immunological balance during the first two trimesters following maternal SARS-CoV-2 infection.
