Deep learning-based prediction of effluent quality of a constructed wetland

Data-driven approaches that make timely predictions about pollutant concentrations in the effluent of constructed wetlands are essential for improving the treatment performance of constructed ***,the effect of the meteorological condition and flow changes in a real scenario are generally neglected in water quality *** address this problem,in this study,we propose an approach based on multi-source data fusion that considers the following indicators:water quality indicators,water quantity indicators,and meteorological *** this study,we establish four representative methods to simultaneously predict the concentrations of three representative pollutants in the effluent of a practical large-scale constructed wetland:(1)multiple linear regression;(2)backpropagation neural network(BPNN);(3)genetic algorithm combined with the BPNN to solve the local minima problem;and(4)long short-term memory(LSTM)neural network to consider the influence of past results on the *** results suggest that the LSTM-predicting model performed considerably better than the other deep neural network-based model or linear method,with a satisfactory R^(2).Additionally,given the huge fluctuation of different pollutant concentrations in the effluent,we used a moving average method to smooth the original data,which successfully improved the accuracy of traditional neural networks and hybrid neural *** results of this study indicate that the hybrid modeling concept that combines intelligent and scientific data preprocessing methods with deep learning algorithms is a feasible approach for forecasting water quality in the effluent of actual engineering.

Leaf-color mutations have been studied extensively in ***,to better understand the complex mechanisms underlying the formation of leaf color,it is essential to continue discover novel genes involved in the process of leaf color *** this study,we identified a variegated-leaf(vg)mutant in tomato that exhibited defective phenotypes in thylakoids and *** clone the vg locus,an F2population was constructed from the cross between the vg mutant(Solanum lycopersicum)and the wild tomato LA1589(***).Using the map-based cloning approach,the vg locus was mapped on chromosome 7 and narrowed down to a 128 kb region that contained 21 open reading frames(ORFs).The expression levels of ORF9,ORF10,and ORF13 were significantly lower in vg than in the wild-type plants,while the ORF11 transcript level was elevated in *** then mutagenized ORF9,ORF10,and ORF13 by the CRISPR/Cas9 system in the wild-type tomato background and found that only the ORF10 mutation reproduced the phenotype of variegated leaves,indicating that ORF10 represents VG and its down-regulated expression was responsible for the variegated leaf ***10 encodes a thylakoid formation protein and its mutant lines showed reduced levels of chlorophyll synthesis and *** together,these results suggest that VG is necessary for chloroplast development,chlorophyll synthesis,and photosynthesis in tomato.

A series of global major geological and biological events occurred during the Permian Period. Establishing a highresolution stratigraphic and temporal framework is essential to understand their cause-effect relationship. The official International timescale of the Permian System consists of three series(i.e., Cisuralian, Guadalupian and Lopingian in ascending order) and nine stages. In China, the Permian System is composed of three series(Chuanshanian, Yansingian and Lopingian) and eight stages, of which the subdivisions and definitions of the Chuanshanian and Yangsingian series are very different from the Cisuralian and Guadalupian series. The Permian Period spanned ～47 Myr. Its base is defined by the First Appearance Datum(FAD) of the conodont Streptognathodus isolatus at Aidaralash, Kazakhstan with an interpolated absolute age 298.9±0.15 Ma at Usolka, southern Urals, Russia. Its top equals the base of the Triassic System and is defined by the FAD of the conodont Hindeodus parvus at Meishan D section, southeast China with an interpolated absolute age 251.902±0.024 Ma. Thirty-five conodont, 23 fusulinid, 17 radiolarian and 20 ammonoid zones are established for the Permian in China, of which the Guadalupian and Lopingian conodont zones have been served as the standard for international correlation. The Permian δ13 Ccarbtrend indicates that it is characterized by a rapid negative shift of 3–5‰ at the end of the Changhsingian, which can be used for global correlation of the end-Permian mass extinction interval, but δ13 Ccarbrecords from all other intervals may have more or less suffered subsequent diagenetic alteration or represented regional or local signatures only. Permian δ18 Oapatitestudies suggest that an icehouse stage dominated the time interval from the late Carboniferous to Kungurian(late Cisuralian). Dear Editor, Shortly after initiating the ＂Physical Anthropological Re- search on Han Chinese＂ research project, we applied uni- form sampling methods as well as methods and instruments of measurement to obtain a complete set of measurements of physical anthropological indicators among Han popula- tions across China. Among these measurements, body stat- ure was a key indicator. Currently, there should be reliable and complete basic data of stature around the Chinese peo- ple. We analyzed the current status of statures among Han adults.

Deuterium labelling techniques have shown widespread applications in organic synthesis,analytic chemistry,life science and material *** design of practical deuteration reactions which is environmentally friendly is highly desired for pharmaceutical development and industrial processes while remaining *** herein report a convenient,transition metal-free strategy for reductive deuteration of ketone derivatives toα-deuterated alcohols by employing a conjugated aryl amine-based organophotocatalyst,a dipropyl disulfide cocatalyst and an inorganic *** irradiation with visible light and under an air atmosphere,a variety of diaryl ketones,heteroaryl ketones,cyclic ketones,α-ketoesters,benzil derivatives,aliphatic ketones and drug-like molecules were converted into correspondingα-deuterated aryl alcohols in good to excellent yields and with high deuterium incorporation(up to 99%D-incorporation).Only low toxic side-products,such as sodium salts and carbon dioxide,were ***,the synthetic utility of this method is highlighted by the preparation of several D-labeled drug-like molecules,including orphenadrine,carbinoxamine and modafinil.

Serum from asthmatic rat treated with acupuncture inhibits acetyl-choline-induced contractile responses of airway smooth muscle cells

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the influence of serum from asthmatic rat treated with acupuncture(acupuncture serum) on the contractile responses of airway smooth muscle cells(ASMCs).METHODS: OVA-induced asthmatic rats were subject to acupuncture treatment at the points of Dazhui(GV 14), Fengmen(BL 12), and Feishu(BL 13).The resulting serum was collected, as well as serum from normal animals. Contraction of ASMCs was induced with 10 μM acetylcholine(Ach), and acupuncture serum or normal serum was supplemented 15 min later. The effects of the sera on the changes in cell length, width, and surface areawere monitored in real time via a live cell imaging ***: The contraction rates of ASMCs 15 min and 30 min after Ach stimulation reached 38.2% ±3.8% and 49.7% ± 4.6%, both of which were significantly higher than unstimulated control cells(P <0.01). Acupuncture serum at the 1∶100 dosage reduced the contraction rate of ASMCs from 40.1% ±5.1% to 17.6% ± 6.5%(P < 0.01). Thus, the treatment significantly inhibited the Ach-induced contractile responses of ASMCs and yielded a relaxation efficiency of 58%, which was greater than the effects obtained with a 1∶250 dosage. Treatment with acupuncture serum at 1∶500 dosage or normal serum displayed no clear effect of suppressing Ach-induced contraction of ***: Our data suggest that acupuncture serum has the effect of inhibiting Ach-induced contraction of ASMCs, thereby promoting relaxation of the cells.

Complementarity of China-Africa Agricultural Products Trade： Trends and Challenges

The Chinese Government attaches great importance to China-Africa agricultural cooperation and trade, and has adopted a series of measures to promote bilateral trade in agricultural products. This paper analyzes the trends and characteristics of China-Africa trade in agricultural products by using trade statistics, the Revealed Comparative Advantage （RCA） index and the Trade Compensation Index （TCI）. Our findings suggest that the bilateral trade in agricultural products is adjusting to reflect the bilateral comparative advantage. However, China-Africa trade also faces enormous challenges, which reveals itself in a low level of complementarity. Meanwhile, the trade complementarity has failed to improve despite rapid growth of the bilateral trade in agricultural products. Based on the findings, the authors propose the need to further strengthen China-Africa cooperation and information sharing in agriculture to take full advantage of market opportunities and resource advantages.

Mitochondria,double-membrane organelles,are known to participate in a variety of metabolic and signal transduction *** intermembrane space(IMS)of mitochondria is proposed to subject to multiple damages emanating from the respiratory *** optic atrophy 1(OPA1),an important protein for mitochondrial fusion,is cleaved into soluble short-form(S-OPA1)under *** we report that S-OPA1 could function as a molecular chaperone in *** purified the S-OPA1(amino acid sequence after OPA1 isoform 5 S1 site)protein and showed it protected substrate proteins from thermally and chemically induced aggregation and strengthened the thermotolerance of Escherichia coli(***).We also showed that S-OPA1 conferred thermotolerance on IMS proteins,e.g.,*** chaperone activity of S-OPA1 may be required for maintaining IMS homeostasis in mitochondria.

The Lopingian is one of the fastest rising periods of seawater strontium isotopic ratios （^87Sr/^86Sr） in earth history, and its mechanisms and increasing rates of the ^87Sr/^86Sr evolution were still disputed widely. These disputations among researchers were caused mainly by timeframe selection （sections＇ thickness or data of radiometric ages）, and different stratigraphic boundaries and un-upmost dated ages. This paper examined published ^87Sr/^86Sr data of the Lopingian, and projected them on timescales based on evolutionary and age constrained conodonts fossils. ^87Sr/^86Sr evolution vs fossil constraining timescales was re-established in this period. This research suggests：（1） ^87Sr/^86Sr excursion projects on fossil zones can truly support ^87Sr/^86Sr evolutionary pattern in the period; （2） ^87Sr/^86Sr evolution provides a new approach for stratigraphic research of marine carbonate sections in lieu of biostratigraphic data; （3） ^87Sr/^86Sr stratigraphy works on marine carbonate sections of different sedimentation rates even between different basins; （4） the ^875r/^86Sr data and its shift was dependent on samples materials and chemical treatment methods; （5） the increasing rate of marine water ^875r/^86Sr in the Late Permian is suggested as 5.4× 10^-5/Ma or slightly lower; （6） sedimentation age and its ^875r/^86Sr of the Lopingian marine carbonate suggested as： Dpro=259-（Rs- 0.70695）/5.4×10^-5 （Ma）.
