Calculation of solid-liquid interfacial free energy and its anisotropy in undercooled system

The solid-liquid interfacial free energy and its anisotropy are crucial quantities in determining the microstructure and mechanical properties of materials. However, most researches mainly concerned the solidliquid coexistence at melting point. In this work, two methods, the critical nucleus method （CNM） and the capillary fluctuation method （CFM）, were combined to get these quantities in undercooled system by molecular dynamics （MD） simulations. The melting point, Tolman length, interfacial free energy and its anisotropy were calculated, and good consistent results from these two methods are obtained. The results of interfacial free energy obtained by CNM and CFM are 103.79 and 102.13 mJ·m^-2, respectively, with the error 〈2%. Meanwhile, both of the methods provide the rank of interfacial free energy by γ7100〉 γ7120 〉 γ 7110 〉 γ112 〉 γ111. The results of the present study are also in good agreement with experimental data and computational data in the literature.

As a new type of environmental pollutant,antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs)pose a huge challenge to global *** gene transfer(HGT)represents an important route for the spread of *** widespread use of sulfamethazine(SM2)as a broad-spectrum bacteriostatic agent leads to high residual levels in the environment,thereby increasing the spread of ***,we chose to study the effect of SM2 on the HGT of ARGs mediated by plasmid RP4 from Escherichia coli(***)HB101 to *** NK5449 as well as its mechanism of *** results showed that compared with the control group,SM2 at concentrations of 10 mg/L and 200 mg/L promoted the HGT of ARGs,but transfer frequency decreased at concentrations of 100 mg/L and 500 mg/*** transfer frequency at 200 mg/L was 3.04×10^(−5),which was 1.34-fold of the control *** mechanism of SM2 improving conjugation transfer is via enhancement of the mRNA expression of conjugation genes(trbBP,trfAP)and oxidative stress genes,inhibition of the mRNA expression of vertical transfer genes,up regulation of the outer membrane protein genes(ompC,ompA),promotion of the formation of cell pores,and improvement of the permeability of cell membrane to promote the conjugation transfer of plasmid *** results of this study provide theoretical support for studying the spread of ARGs in the environment.

Two-dimensional (2D) materials and ultrathin nanosheets have attracted tremendous research interests [1-4]. Exfoliation of porous coordination polymers (PCPs) or metal-organic frameworks (moFs) with 2D coordination structures is emerging as a viable strategy for preparation of new types of 2D materials [5-8]. The relatively weak bonding within and strong interactions between 2D coordination networks are the main problems for successful exfoliation [9]. Pretreatments of the layered moFs to expand the interlayer distances can be helpful [10-12]. Capturing the exfoliation intermediates and visualizing their structures are valuable for understanding the exfoliation mechanism and confirming the structures of the final 2D materials [11,12].

Correlated states have emerged in low-dimensional systems owing to enhanced Coulomb *** these states requires atomic-scale characterization and delicate control ***,spectroscopic imaging-scanning tunneling microscopy was employed to investigate the correlated states residing in 1D electrons of the monolayer and bilayer moSe2 mirror twin boundary(MTB).The Coulomb energies,determined by the wire length,drive the MTB into two types of ground states with distinct respective out-of-phase and in-phase charge *** two ground states can be reversibly converted through a metastable zero-energy state with in situ voltage pulses,which tune the electron filling of the MTB via a polaronic process,substantiated by first-principles *** Hubbard model calculation with an exact diagonalization method reveals the ground states as correlated insulators from an on-site U-originated Coulomb interaction,dubbed the Hubbard-type Coulomb blockade *** study lays a foundation for understanding and tailoring correlated physics in complex systems.

Accumulation of toxic ions in leachate is one factor limiting bioleaching applications. The effect of fluoride ions on the growth of bioleaching microorganisms has been extensively emphasized. In this study, HF is found to be the toxic form of fluoride that affects the bacterial activity under acidic conditions. The added aluminum could compete with H^+ to complex with F-, thus significantly decrease the concentration of HF and finally reduce the toxicity of fluoride to bacteria. When F^-/Al^(3+)concentration ratio is 0.5:1.0, Fe^(2+) oxidation rate could reach 0.167 g·L^(-1)·h^(-1), close to that of the biotic control group(0.195 g·L^(-1)·h^(-1)). The competitive complexation mechanism of fluoride by AlF_n^(3-n) results in stability constants of AlF_n^(3-n) complex(7.00) that are larger than those of HF(3.18). The F^-/Al^(3+) concentration ratio in the medium could affect the speciation of AlF_n^(3-n) *** the decrease in F^-/Al^(3+) concentration ratio, the coordination numbers of AlF_n^(3-n) decrease. Finally, the feasibility of fluoride detoxification by aluminum ion is verified. This work has meaningful implications for fluoride-containing bacterial bioleaching systems.

Na-X zeolites were synthesized by Longkou oil shale ash with the alkaline fusion hydrothermal *** effects of fusion temperature,ash to NaOH ratio,solid-liquid ratio,crystallization time and crystallization temperature on the crystallinity of zeolites were *** synthetic products were characterized by Xray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR),29Si nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy(29Si NMR)and N2 *** results showed that the conditions to synthesize Na-X zeolite were:Longkou oil shale ash to sodium hydroxide ratio 1:1.2 g・g^(-1),fusion temperature 600℃,solid-liquid ratio 1:4 g・mL^(-1),crystallization time 24 h and crystallization temperature 80℃.The zeolite with high crystallinity(91.32%)was synthesized:the product exhibiting octahedral particles observed by SEM,and the calculated Si/Al ratio in Na-X zeolite being 1.23 from^(29)Si MAS NMR spectra,which was consistent with the observation from XRD.

Cellular immune responses,particularly those associated with CD3+CD8+ cytotoxic T lymphocytes (CTL),are critical factors in controlling viral *** carcinoma (NPC) is closely associated with persistent Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) *** vaccine studies have focused on enhancing specific antiviral CTL *** this study,three vaccines capable of expressing the EBV-latent membrane protein 2 (LMP2) (a DNA vector,an adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector,and a replication-defective adenovirus serotype 5 (Ad5) vector) were respectively used to immunize female Balb/c mice (4-6 weeks old) at weeks 0,2 and 4,either alone or in *** results suggest that combined immunization with DNA,AAV,and adenovirus vector vaccines induced specific cellular immunity more effectively than any of these vectors alone or a combination of two of the three,constituting a sound vaccine strategy for the prevention and treatment of NPC.

Based on the first 13.4 yr of Fermi science data in the energy range from 300 Me V to 500 Ge V,we discovered a bright Ge V gamma-ray source with a ~5.64σ detection,named Fermi J1242.5+3236,which has an offset of about0°.0996 from a nearby star-forming galaxy NGC *** using the 12 yr’ data,the detection significance of Fermi J1242.5+3236 is about 4.72σ.Fermi J1242.5+3236 is a steady point source without significant temporal variability and has a hard gamma-ray photon index of about-1.60 ± *** spatial offset and the hard gammaray spectrum disfavor this source as the diffuse gamma-ray emission from this *** new source might have a possible origin of an unidentified background blazar,which is more likely a high-synchrotron-peaked blazar for its hard gamma-ray photon index.A follow-up optical observation would help distinguish origin of Fermi J1242.5+3236.

In this paper,we design a hydrostatic electroactive soft actuator(HESA)inspired by octopus transverse *** introduce the advantage of laser processing technology in HESA fabrication compared with existing similar actuators and discuss the effect of laser processing on the outer membrane of the *** addition,a mathematical model is established for the single channel of the actuator,and the geometric parameters of the actuator are optimized by mathematical model simulation and *** demonstrate the motion effect of the *** experiments show that the single piece of the actuator can achieve 32.2%strain in the axial direction and 7.8%strain in the radius ***,we stack three actuators together and describe their motion characteristics at different *** stacked actuators can realize axial elongation,radial shrinkage,and bend,which covers all the motion modes of the octopus biological transverse *** study may lay a foundation for implementing the biomimetic soft actuator mimicking the octopus’s transverse musculature,which is one less discussed but crucial muscular composition in the octopus-inspired arm research.
