Lignin is a common soil organic matter that is present in soils,but its effect on the transformation of ferrihydrite(Fh)remains *** matter is generally assumed to inhibit Fh ***,lignin can reduce Fh to Fe(Ⅱ),in which Fe(Ⅱ)-catalyzed Fh transformation ***,the effects of lignin on Fh transformation were investigated at 75℃ as a function of the lignin/Fh mass ratio(0-0.2),pH(4-8)and aging time(0-96 hr).The results of Fh-lignin samples(mass ratios=0.1)aged at different pH values showed that for Fh-lignin the time of Fh transformation into secondary crystalline minerals was significantly shortened at pH 6 when compared with pure Fh,and the Fe(Ⅱ)-accelerated transformation of Fh was strongly dependent on *** pH 6,at low lignin/Fh mass ratios(0.05-0.1),the time of secondary mineral formation decreased with increasing lignin *** high lignosulfonate-content material(lignin:Fh=0.2),Fh did not transform into secondary minerals,indicating that lignin content plays a major role in Fh *** addition,lignin affected the pathway of Fh transformation by inhibiting goethite formation and facilitating hematite *** effect of coprecipitation of lignin on Fh transformation should be useful in understanding the complex iron and carbon cycles in a soil environment.

Development of energy-efficient lubricants is a way to reduce energy consumption for transportation,with the tendency to design molecules that are beneficial in reducing the viscosity of synthetic *** esters(OEEs),as a low-viscosity ester base oil,have characteristics such as simple synthesis and excellent lubrication effect;however,the application of OEEs in tribology field has rarely been *** objective of the present study is to investigate the effect of structure on the lubricating performance of OEEs and to develop a predictive model for OEEs based on quantitative structure‒property relationship(QSPR)through a combination of experiment and statistical *** showed that glycol chains contribute positively to lubrication with the ether functional groups increasing the sites of *** to branched-chain OEEs,straight-chain OEEs exhibited reduced wear,which was mainly due to the thicker adsorption film formed by the straight-chain ***,carbon films were detected on lightly worn surfaces,indicating that OEEs underwent oxidation during the friction *** on the results of principal component analysis(PCA)and partial least squares(PLS),it could be found that the predictive models of viscosity‒temperature performance,thermal stability performance,coefficient of friction(COF),and wear volume(WV)performed well and *** them,COF and WV can be best predicted with an R^(2) of about 0.90.

The escalating frequency of thallium(Tl)contamination incidents amplifies its environmental ***,the potential risk of Tl to aquatic organisms,especially across varying developmental stages,remains poorly *** this study,we employed zebrafish as a representative model organism and exposed zebrafish embryos and larvae at distinct developmental periods(specifically,6 h postfertilization(hpf)and 72 hpf)to low concentrations of Tl(I)(0.25 and 0.50 mg/L).The exposure was performed for a short duration of 24 h,followed by a 96 h depuration *** results revealed that Tl(I)exerted disparate biological effects on zebrafish at different developmental *** exhibited negligible uptake of Tl(I),whereas larvae showed a significant accumulation of Tl(I)and struggled with its rapid ***,Tl(I)was able to permeate the blood-brain barrier,thereby posing a risk to the nervous *** analysis indicated that Tl(I)triggered distinct toxicological pathways in embryos and *** mainly interfered with metabolic processes in embryos,while in larvae,it mainly disrupted intracellular ion homeostasis,both consequently provoking *** emphasizes that the multifaceted nature of Tl(I)toxicity depends on the developmental stages of the *** study clearly shows that the bioeffects of Tl are intricately related to the developmental stage of zebrafish,offering a valuable perspective for the pollutant toxicity assessment.

Frozen ground(FG)plays an important role in global and regional climates and environments through changes in land freeze-thaw processes,which have been conducted mainly in different ***,the changes in land surface freeze-thaw processes under climate change on a global scale are still *** on ERA5-Land hourly land skin temperature data,this study evaluated changes in the global FG area,global land surface first freeze date(FFD),last freeze date(LFD)and frost-free period(FFP)from 1950 to *** results show that the current FG areas(1991-2020 mean)in the Northern Hemisphere(NH),Southern Hemisphere(SH),and globe are 68.50×10^(6),9.03×10^(6),and 77.53×10^(6)km^(2),which account for 72.4%,26.8%,and 60.4%of the exposed land(excluding glaciers,ice sheets,and water bodies)in the NH,SH and the globe,respectively;further,relative to 1951-1980,the FG area decreased by 1.9%,8.8%,and 2.8%,*** FG at lower latitudes degrades to intermittently FG,and intermittently FG degrades to non-frozen ground,which caused the global FG boundary to retreat to higher latitudes from 1950 to *** annual FG areas in the NH,SH,and globe all show significant decreasing trends(p<0.05)from 1950 to 2020 at-0.32×10^(6),-0.22×10^(6),and-0.54×10^(6)km^(2)per decade,*** FFP prolongation in the NH is mainly influenced by LFD advance,while in the SH it is mainly controlled by FFD *** prolongation trend of FFP in the NH(1.34 d per decade)is larger than that in the SH(1.15 d per decade).
