Research progress of slippage characteristic and gas film stability enhancement methods on biomimetic hydrophobic surfaces

The biomimetic hydrophobic surface is a potentially efficient underwater drag reduction method and the drag reduction mechanism of this kind of surface comes from the interfacial *** now,it is a hotspot to grasp the slippage characteristic and explore slippage enhancement *** paper not only summarizes our numerical simulation and experimental results of slippage characteristic at the solid-liquid interface(SLI)of hydrophobic surfaces(HS)and the gas-liquid interface(GLI)of superhydrophobic surfaces(SHS)in recent years,but also introduces some innovative methods that can effectively improve the gas film stability and drag reduction effect of ***,we used the molecular dynamics(MD)simulation method to figure out the effect of the solid-liquid interaction strength,the system temperature and the shear rate on the slippage of SLI,and expound their action mechanism from molecular ***,by MD and multibody dissipative particle dynamics(MDPD)method,the slippage behavior at the GLI was studied under the influence of the microstructure size and the flow driving *** proposed a new kind of hybrid slip boundary condition model to describe the slippage characteristic on *** addition,we found through experiment that a three-dimensional backflow will appear on the GLI under the interfacial adsorption of surfactants,and the backflow direction will reverse with the change of GLI ***,we put forward the wettability step structure and gas injection method to enhance the stability and drag reduction effect of the gas film on SHS.

Sludge composition and characteristics shaped microbial community and further determined process performance: A study on full-scale thermal hydrolysis-anaerobic digestion processes

Anaerobic digestion (AD) with thermal hydrolysis (TH) pretreatment is a promising process for excess sludge treatment,while there lacks of the knowledge from full-scale process about the impact of sludge composition and characteristics on microbial community and *** sludge physiochemical indices,microbial community and performance data of four full-scale TH-AD plants were characterized,and their relationships was *** four plants were operated under almost similar total organic loading rate (OLR)but their methanogenesis performance differentiate into two groups,namely superior group(SupG) and the inferior group (Inf G).In both groups,TH effectively solubilized particulate organic compounds,meanwhile raised the ammonia nitrogen (NH_(4)^(+)-N) and volatile fatty acid (VFA) *** with the Sup G,thermal hydrolyzed sludge of Inf G had higher level of VFAs,NH_(4)^(+)-N and total chemical oxygen demand (t COD),which showed higher inhibition effect on microbes,leading to a community with lower diversity,lower abundance of carbohydrate degrading functional guild,higher protein degrading one,and methanogens that adapted to limited substrates,and further declined the methane production ***,it was recommended that OLR alone was not sufficient for controlling the system in design and operation,the concentration of VFAs,NH_(4)^(+)-N and t COD should be equally *** higher concentration,together with the higher abundance of Defluviitoga and Proteiniphilum were recommended as indicators for inferior running *** results proposed that microbial communities played a role of bridge between environmental factors and performance,provided implications for engineering ecology and operational regulation for full-scale sludge TH-AD process.

Frozen ground(FG)plays an important role in global and regional climates and environments through changes in land freeze-thaw processes,which have been conducted mainly in different ***,the changes in land surface freeze-thaw processes under climate change on a global scale are still *** on ERA5-Land hourly land skin temperature data,this study evaluated changes in the global FG area,global land surface first freeze date(FFD),last freeze date(LFD)and frost-free period(FFP)from 1950 to *** results show that the current FG areas(1991-2020 mean)in the Northern Hemisphere(NH),Southern Hemisphere(SH),and globe are 68.50×10^(6),9.03×10^(6),and 77.53×10^(6)km^(2),which account for 72.4%,26.8%,and 60.4%of the exposed land(excluding glaciers,ice sheets,and water bodies)in the NH,SH and the globe,respectively;further,relative to 1951-1980,the FG area decreased by 1.9%,8.8%,and 2.8%,*** FG at lower latitudes degrades to intermittently FG,and intermittently FG degrades to non-frozen ground,which caused the global FG boundary to retreat to higher latitudes from 1950 to *** annual FG areas in the NH,SH,and globe all show significant decreasing trends(prend of FFP in the NH(1.34 d per decade)is larger than that in the SH(1.15 d per decade).

A Study of 10 Rotating Radio Transients Using Parkes Radio Telescope

Rotating Radio Transients(RRATs)are a relatively new subclass of pulsars that emit detectable radio bursts *** analyzed 10 RRATs observed using the Parkes telescope,with eight of these observed via the ultra-wide-bandwidth low-frequency(UWL)*** measured the burst rate and produced integrated profiles spanning multiple frequency bands for three *** also conducted a spectral analysis on both integrated pulses and individual pulses of three *** of their integrated pulses follow a simple power law,consistent with the known range of pulsar spectral *** average spectral indices of single pulses are-0.9,-1.2,and-1.0 respectively,which are within the known range of pulsar spectral ***,we find that the spreads of single-pulse spectral indices for these RRATs(ranging from-3.5 to+0.5)are narrower compared to what has been observed in other ***,the average spectral index and scatter of single pulses are both relatively *** the remaining five RRATs observed at the UWL receiver,we also provide the upper limits on fluence and flux *** addition,we obtain the timing solution of PSR *** analysis shows that PSRs J1919+1745,J1709-43,and J1649-4653 are potentially nulling pulsars or weak pulsars with sparse strong pulses.

Identification and immune analysis of antimicrobial peptides from the cigarette beetle(Lasioderma serricorne)

Antimicrobial peptides(AMPs)in insects are endogenous peptides that are effector components of the innate defense system of the *** may serve as antimicrobial agents because of their small molecular weight and broad-spectrum antimicrobial *** this study,we performed transcriptome analysis of cigarette beetle(Lasioderma serricorne)larvae,parasitized by the ectoparasitic wasp,Anisopteromalus *** AMP genes were significantly upregulated following *** parasitism,postulating the hypothesis that the parasitization enhanced the host's resistance against pathogenic microorganisms through the regulation of host AMP ***,3 AMP genes(LsDef1,LsDef2,and LsCole)were significantly upregulated and we studied their immune function in *** challenge and functional analysis showed that LsCole was responsible for the immune response against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria,while LsDef1 and LsDef2 were involved in insect defense against Gram-positive *** recombinant LsCole exhibited antimicrobial activities against the Gram-negative bacterium Escherichia coli and the Gram-positive bacterium Staphylococcus ***2 showed an antibacterial effect against *** and LsDef2 exhibited antibiofilm activity against *** 2 AMPs disrupted cell membranes and caused leakage of *** cell *** results indicated that the 3 AMPs in *** are involved in the innate immunity of this pest *** AMPs may have potential as antimicrobial agents for bacterial infection ***,data are discussed in relation to new control strategies with greater biosafety against pest insects with use of microbial biocontrol agents in combination with RNA interference against the insect's defensive AMP genes.

Single-source-precursor synthesis and air-plasma ablation behavior of(Ti,Zr,Hf)C/SiC ceramic nanocomposites at 2200℃

Dense monolithic(Ti,Zr,Hf)C/SiC ceramic nanocomposites with four different molar ratios of metallic elements in the(Ti,Zr,Hf)C phase(i.e.,Ti:Zr:Hf=1:1:1,2:3:5,2:3:3,and 1:2:1)were prepared upon pyrolysis of novel(Ti,Zr,Hf)-containing single-source precursors(SSPs),followed by spark plasma sintering(SPS).A thorough characterization was conducted to elucidate the synthesis of the SSPs,polymer-to-ceramic transformation,chemical/phase compositions,and microstructure of the SiTiZrHfC-based *** results revealed the feasibility of synthesizing nanocomposites with high(Ti,Zr,Hf)C contents using the SSP *** nanocomposites were characterized by a unique microstructure with in situ generated(Ti,Zr,Hf)C@C core-shell nanoparticles homogeneously mixed withβ-*** ablation behavior of the nanocomposites was evaluated on an air-plasma device for 60 ***,the nanocomposites exhibited excellent ablation resistance,and the lowest linear ablation rate reached−0.58μm/s at 2200°***,the ablation resistance can be dramatically improved by precisely tailoring the atomic ratios of metal elements within the(Ti,Zr,Hf)C phase via the molecular design of the *** formation of a multiple-oxide layer with both a high-meltingpoint phase((Ti,Zr,Hf)O_(2))and low-melting-point phases((Zr,Hf)TiO_(4))and glassy SiO_(2),as well as their structure,played a critical role in the enhanced ablation *** uniform distribution of the high-melting-point(Ti,Zr,Hf)O_(2)nano/microparticles throughout the glassy SiO_(2)matrix significantly enhanced the viscosity and stability of the oxide layer by the pinning effect,offering superior protection against the ingress of oxygen atoms and excellent resistance to mechanical erosion.

Efficient and precise genomic deletion in rice using enhanced prime editing

Efficient and precise genomic deletion shows promise for investigating the function of proteins in plant research and enhancing agricultural *** this study,we tested the PRIME-Del(PDel)strategy using a pair of prime editing guide RNAs(pegRNAs)that targeted opposite DNA strands and achieved an average deletion efficiency of 55.8%for 60 bp fragment deletions at six endogenous ***,as high as 84.2%precise deletion efficiency was obtained for a 2000 bp deletion at the OsGS1 site in transgenic rice *** add the bases that were unintentionally deleted between the two nicking sequences,we used the PDel/Syn strategy,which introduced multiple synonymous base mutations in the region that had to be patched in the RT *** PDel/Syn strategy achieved an average of 58.1%deletion efficiency at six endogenous targets,which was higher than the PDel *** strategies presented in this study contribute to achieving more accurate and flexible deletions in transgenic rice plants.

A Model for Detecting Fake News by Integrating Domain-Specific Emotional and Semantic Features

With the rapid spread of Internet information and the spread of fake news,the detection of fake news becomes more and more *** detection methods often rely on a single emotional or semantic feature to identify fake news,but these methods have limitations when dealing with news in specific *** order to solve the problem of weak feature correlation between data from different domains,a model for detecting fake news by integrating domain-specific emotional and semantic features is *** method makes full use of the attention mechanism,grasps the correlation between different features,and effectively improves the effect of feature *** algorithm first extracts the semantic features of news text through the Bi-LSTM(Bidirectional Long Short-Term Memory)layer to capture the contextual relevance of news ***-BiLSTM is then used to extract emotional features and predict the probability of positive and negative emotions in the *** then uses domain features as an enhancement feature and attention mechanism to fully capture more fine-grained emotional features associated with that ***,the fusion features are taken as the input of the fake news detection classifier,combined with the multi-task representation of information,and the MLP and Softmax functions are used for *** experimental results show that on the Chinese dataset Weibo21,the F1 value of this model is 0.958,4.9% higher than that of the sub-optimal model;on the English dataset FakeNewsNet,the F1 value of the detection result of this model is 0.845,1.8% higher than that of the sub-optimal model,which is advanced and feasible.

Cross-Target Stance Detection with Sentiments-Aware Hierarchical Attention Network

The task of cross-target stance detection faces significant challenges due to the lack of additional background information in emerging knowledge domains and the colloquial nature of language patterns. Traditional stance detection methods often struggle with understanding limited context and have insufficient generalization across diverse sentiments and semantic structures. This paper focuses on effectively mining and utilizing sentimentsemantics knowledge for stance knowledge transfer and proposes a sentiment-aware hierarchical attention network (SentiHAN) for cross-target stance detection. SentiHAN introduces an improved hierarchical attention network designed to maximize the use of high-level representations of targets and texts at various fine-grain levels. This model integrates phrase-level combinatorial sentiment knowledge to effectively bridge the knowledge gap between known and unknown targets. By doing so, it enables a comprehensive understanding of stance representations for unknown targets across different sentiments and semantic structures. The model's ability to leverage sentimentsemantics knowledge enhances its performance in detecting stances that may not be directly observable from the immediate context. Extensive experimental results indicate that SentiHAN significantly outperforms existing benchmark methods in terms of both accuracy and robustness. Moreover, the paper employs ablation studies and visualization techniques to explore the intricate relationship between sentiment and stance. These analyses further confirm the effectiveness of sentence-level combinatorial sentiment knowledge in improving stance detection capabilities. © 2024 Tech Science Press. All rights reserved.
