Durable dropwise condensation of saturated vapor is of significance for heat transfer and energy saving in extensive industrial *** numerous superhydrophobic surfaces can promote steam condensation,maintaining discrete microdroplets on surfaces without the formation of a flooded filmwise condensation at high subcooling remains ***,we report the development of carbon nanotube array-embedded hierarchical composite surfaces that enable ultra-durable dropwise condensation under a wide range of subcooling(ΔT_(sub)=8 K–38 K),which outperforms existing nanowire *** performance stems from the combined strategies of the hydrophobic nanostructures that allow efficient surface renewal and the patterned hydrophilic micro frames that protect the nanostructures and also accelerate droplet *** synergistic effects of the composite design ensure sustained Cassie wetting mode and capillarity-governed droplet mobility(Bond numberlume of condensed droplets,which contributes to the enhanced condensation heat *** design provides a feasible alternative for efficiently transferring heat in a vapor environment with relatively high temperatures through the tunable multiscale morphology.

Accumulating studies have been conducted to identify risk genes and relevant biological mechanisms underlying major depressive disorder(MDD).In particular,transcriptomic analyses in brain regions engaged in cognitive and emotional processes,e.g.,the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex(DLPFC),have provided essential *** on three independent DLPFC RNA-seq datasets of 79 MDD patients and 75 healthy controls,we performed differential expression analyses using two alternative approaches for *** also conducted transcriptomic analyses in mice undergoing chronic variable stress(CVS)and chronic social defeat stress(CSDS).We identified 12 differentially expressed genes(DEGs)through both analytical methods in MDD patients,the majority of which were also dysregulated in stressed ***,the mRNA level of the immediate early gene FOS(Fos proto-oncogene)was significantly decreased in both MDD patients and CVS-exposed mice,and CSDSsusceptible mice exhibited a greater reduction in Fos expression compared to resilient *** findings suggest the potential key roles of this gene in the pathogenesis of MDD related to stress *** transcriptomes in the DLPFC of MDD patients might be,at least partially,the result of stress exposure,supporting that stress is a primary risk factor for MDD.

Auditory function in vertebrates depends on the transduction of sound vibrations into electrical signals by inner ear hair *** general,hearing loss resulting from hair cell damage is irreversible because the human ear has been considered to be incapable of regenerating or repairing these sensory elements following severe ***,regeneration and protection of inner ear hair cells have become an exciting,rapidly evolving field of research during the last ***,mammalian auditory hair cells are few in number,experimentally inaccessible,and barely proliferate postnatally in *** in vitro primary culture systems of inner ear hair cells have been established by different groups,although many challenges remain ***,we briefly explain the structure of the inner ear,summarize the published methods of in vitro hair cell cultures,and propose a feasible protocol for culturing these cells,which gave satisfactory results in our study.A better understanding of in vitro hair cell cultures will substantially facilitate research involving auditory functions,drug development,and the isolation of critical molecules involved in hair cell biology.

Sulphur-containing aromatic amines were prepared efficiently in good to excellent yields by reduction of the corresponding sulphur-containing aromatic nitro compounds with hydrazine hydrate in the presence of iron（Ⅲ） oxide-MgO catalyst. The catalyst exhibited high activity and stability for the reduction of sulphur-containing aromatic nitro compounds. The yields of sulphur-containing aromatic amines were up to 91-99 % at 355 K after reduction for 1-4 h over this catalyst.

Sulphur-containing aromatic nitro compounds were rapidly reduced to the corresponding amines in high yields by employing hydrazine hydrate as a hydrogen donor in the presence of iron oxide hydroxide catalyst. It was worth noting that the catalyst exhibited extremely high activity. The reduction could be completed within 20-50 min and the yields were up to 97-99 %.

Observations of solar wind plasma find that the drift velocity between alpha beams and protons,vα,is reduced with the heliocentric distance,but the ratio of vαto vA(the local Alfven velocity)does not vary obviously and has a typical velocity ratio of vα/vA≤*** alpha beam instability is believed to be responsible for the deceleration of alpha beams in the solar ***,the role of the temperature anisotropy of ions(protons and alpha particles)on the alpha beam instability has not been *** on the kinetic theory of the PDRK solver,this study systemically investigates the alpha beam instability in the presence of proton and alpha temperature anisotropies and considers the effects of these temperature anisotropies on the instability at an arbitrary propagation angle relative to the ambient magnetic *** is found that the real frequencies,growth rates and threshold conditions of the excited waves sensitively depend on the proton temperature anisotropy T_(i⊥)/T_(i‖)and the alpha temperature anisotropy T_(α⊥)/T_(α‖),as well as the parallel electron betaβe‖.In particular,for both alpha beam and proton temperature anisotropy driven cases,the parallel magnetosonic/whistler(PM/W),backward magnetosonic/whistler(BM/W)and oblique Alfvén/ion cyclotron(OA/IC)waves arise when T_(i⊥)/T_(i‖)*** presence of anisotropic protons leads to a lower velocity threshold for the OA/IC and BM/W waves at T_(i⊥)/T_(i‖)*** both alpha beam and alpha temperature anisotropy driven cases,the PM/W and OA/IC waves are unstable when T_(α⊥)/T_(α‖)*** presence of anisotropic alpha particles results in a lower threshold velocity for the PM/W wave at T_(α⊥)/T_(α‖)<1 and for the PA/IC,OM/W and mirror waves at T_

Blasting operations,which are crucial to open-pit mine production due to their simplicity and efficiency,require precise control through accurate vibration velocity *** conventional Sadowski formula mainly focuses on blast center distance but neglects the amplification effect of blasting vibration waves by terraced terrain,from which the calculated blasting vibration velocities are smaller than the actual values,affecting the safety of the *** address this issue,our model introduces the influences of slope and time into Sadowski formula to measure safety through blast vibration *** the northern section of the open-pit quartz mine in Jinchang City,Gansu Province,China,the data of a continuous blasting slope project are referred *** findings reveal a noticeable vibration amplification effect during blasting when a multi-stage slope platform undergoes a sudden cross-sectional change near the upper overhanging *** amplification vibration coefficient increases with height,while vibration waves within rocks decrease from bottom to ***,platforms without distinct crosssectional changes exhibit no pronounced amplification during *** addition,the vibration intensity decreases with distance as the rock height difference change *** results obtained by the proposed blast vibration displacement equation incorporating slope shape influence closely agree with real-world *** to Pearson correlation coefficient(PPMCC)analysis,the average accuracy rate of our model is 88.84%,which exceeds the conventional Sadowski formula(46.92%).
