Effect of early stepwise cardiopulmonary rehabilitation on function and quality of life in sepsis patients

BACKGROUND Sepsis,as a non-limiting host infection disease,can be accompanied by serious complications such as organ failure,which seriously threatens patient quality of life.AIM To investigate the effect of early stepwise cardiopulmonary rehabilitation on cardiopulmonary function and quality of life in patients evacuated from mechanical ventilation with sepsis.METHODS A total of 80 patients with sepsis who were hospitalized in our hospital from January 2021 to January 2022 were selected and divided into the observation group(n=40)and the control group(n=40)according to the random number table method.The observation group was treated with early stepwise cardiopulmonary rehabilitation,and the control group was treated with a conventional treatment regimen.Cardiac function indexes(central venous pressure,cardiac troponin I,B-type brain natriuretic peptide),lung function indicators(diaphragmatic mobility,changes in central venous oxygen saturation,oxygenation index),and quality of life(Quality of Life Evaluation Scale)were compared between the two groups after treatment.RESULTS After treatment,the central venous pressure,diaphragm mobility,central venous oxygen saturation,oxygenation index,and Quality of Life Evaluation Scale scores in the observation group were higher than those in the control group,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The observation group was less than that of the control group for other parameters,and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).CONCLUSION Early stepwise cardiopulmonary rehabilitation can effectively enhance cardiac and pulmonary function and improve the quality of life in patients evacuated from mechanical ventilation with sepsis.

General Decay for a Thermoelastic Problem of a Microbeam with Gurtin-Pipkin Thermal Law

In this paper,we study the well-posedness and the asymptotic stability of a one-dimensional thermoelastic microbeam system,where the heat conduction is given by Gurtin-Pipkin thermal law.We first establish the well-posedness of the system by using the semigroup arguments and Lumer-Phillips theorem.We then obtain an explicit and general formula for the energy decay rates through perturbed energy method and some properties of the convex functions.

Ferroelectric artificial synapse for neuromorphic computing and flexible applications

Research of artificial synapses is increasing in popularity with the development of bioelectronics and the appearance of wearable devices.Because the high-temperature treatment process of inorganic materials is not compatible with flexible substrates,organic ferroelectric materials that are easier to process have emerged as alternatives.An organic synaptic device based on P(VDF-TrFE)was prepared in this study.The device showed reliable P/E endurance over 104 cycles and a data storage retention capability at 80℃ over 104 s.Simultaneously,it possessed excellent synaptic functions,including short-term/long-term synaptic plasticity and spike-timing-dependent plasticity.In addition,the ferroelectric performance of the device remained stable even under bending(7 mm bending radius)or after 500 bending cycles.This work shows that low-temperature processed organic ferroelectric materials can provide new ideas for the future development of wearable electronics and flexible artificial synapses.

Ultrafast Fiber Laser Based on Tungsten Sulphoselenide Materials

Tungsten sulphoselenide(WSSe) alloys, belonging to the transition metal dichalcogenide family, have attracted significant interest in the area of optoelectronics because of their unique optical and electronic properties.However, there has been a dearth of sufficient research on the saturable absorption features and ultrafast lasers applications. Herein, we fabricated a WSSe-microfiber saturable absorber(SA) based on WSSe nanosheets prepared by liquid exfoliation technique. The SA provided a saturation intensity of a modulation depth of 27.95%and a nonsaturable loss of 21.34%. To investigate the potential applications of WSSe in ultrafast photonics, the prepared WSSe-microfiber was incorporated into an Er-doped fiber laser ring cavity. The results demonstrated that the WSSe-based SA successfully generated mode-locking laser pulses with a remarkably short pulse width of 231 fs. Furthermore, the output power of this ultrafast fiber laser reached an impressive value of 15.68 mW.These findings provide valuable views into the unique features of WSSe alloys in the areas of ultrafast optics and develop recipes for SA in ultrafast fiber lasers.

Synthesis,Characterization and Phase Behaviors of Polypeptides Bearing Biphenyl Mesogens and Oligo-Ethylene-Glycol Tails

A series ofpolypeptides bearing biphenyl mesogenic side-chains and oligo-ethylene-glycol （OEG） tails （PPLGn-g- BPOEGm, n = 26 and 63, m = 2, 3, and 7） has been synthesized via a 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition with quantitative grafting density. FTIR results revealed that the polypeptides adopted highly stable a-helix in the temperature range of 25-200 ℃. DSC, POM and WAXS analysis revealed that PPLGn-g-BPOEGm （m ≤ 3） samples with short OEG tail length showed two main phase transitions including crystal to liquid crystalline （smectie C, SmC） phase transition and the melting transition of crystalline E-phase, while PPLG,-g-BPOEG7 with longer OEG tail length （m = 7） exhibited the melting transitions without the formation of liquid crystalline phase.

Spectrum projection with a bandgap-gradient perovskite cell for colour perception

Optoelectronic devices for light or spectral signal detection are desired for use in a wide range of applications,including sensing,imaging,optical communications,and in situ characterization.However,existing photodetectors indicate only light intensities,whereas multiphotosensor spectrometers require at least a chip-level assembly and can generate redundant signals for applications that do not need detailed spectral information.Inspired by human visual and psychological light perceptions,the compression of spectral information into representative intensities and colours may simplify spectrum processing at the device level.Here,we propose a concept of spectrum projection using a bandgap-gradient semiconductor cell for intensity and colour perception.Bandgap-gradient perovskites,prepared by a halide-exchanging method via dipping in a solution,are developed as the photoactive layer of the cell.The fabricated cell produces two output signals:one shows linear responses to both photon energy and flux,while the other depends on only photon flux.Thus,by combining the two signals,the single device can project the monochromatic and broadband spectra into the total photon fluxes and average photon energies(i.e.,intensities and hues),which are in good agreement with those obtained from a commercial photodetector and spectrometer.Under changing illumination in real time,the prepared device can instantaneously provide intensity and hue results.In addition,the flexibility and chemical/bio-sensing of the device via colour comparison are demonstrated.Therefore,this work shows a human visual-like method of spectrum projection and colour perception based on a single device,providing a paradigm for high-efficiency spectrum-processing applications.

This paper is concerned with a third order in time linear Moore-Gibson-Thompson equation which describes the acoustic velocity potential in ultrasound wave program.Influenced by the work of Kaltenbacher,Lasiecka and Marchand(Control Cybernet.2011,40:971-988),we establish an observability inequality of the conservative problem,and then discuss the equivalence between the exponential stabilization of a dissipative system and the internal observational inequality of the corresponding conservative system.

Parkinson’s disease(PD)is a complicated neurodegenerative disease,characterized by the accumulation ofα-synuclein(α-syn)in Lewy bodies and neurites,and massive loss of midbrain dopamine neurons.Increasing evidence suggests that gut microbiota and microbial metabolites are involved in the development of PD.Among these,short-chain fatty acids(SCFAs),the most abundant microbial metabolites,have been proven to play a key role in brain-gut communication.In this review,we analyze the role of SCFAs in the pathology of PD from multiple dimensions and summarize the alterations of SCFAs in PD patients as well as their correlation with motor and non-motor symptoms.Future research should focus on further elucidating the role of SCFAs in neuroinflammation,as well as developing novel strategies employing SCFAs and their derivatives to treat PD.

Structure engineering of cathode host materials for Li-S batteries

Although lithium-sulfur batteries are one of the favorable candidates for next-generation energy storage devices,a few key challenges that have not been addressed have limited its commercialization.These challenges include lithium dendrite growth in the anode side,volume change of the active material,poor electrical conductivity,dissolution and migration of poly sulfides,and slow rate of solid-state reactions in the cathode side.Since the electrochemical performance of lithium-sulfur batteries is greatly affected by the design of the cathode host material,it has also been widely discussed in addressing the abovementioned issues.In this paper,three design ideas of cathode host materials in terms of microstructure,crystal structure and electronic structure are introduced and summarized.Crucially,the current progress of these three structural design strategies and their effects on the electrochemical performance of lithium-sulfur batteries are discussed in detail.Finally,future directions in the structural design of cathode materials for lithium-sulfur batteries are discussed and further perspectives are provided.
