Long-term outcomes after radical gastrectomy in gastric cancer patients with overt bleeding

AIM: To investigate the difference in long-term outcomes between gastric cancer patients with and without a primary symptom of overt bleeding(OB).METHODS: Consecutive patients between January 1, 2007 and March 1, 2012 were identified retrospectively by reviewing a gastric cancer database at Xinhua Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine. A follow-up examination was performed on patients who underwent a radical gastrectomy. OB due to gastric cancer included hematemesis, melena or hematochezia, and gastric cancer was confirmed as the source of bleeding by endoscopy. Patients without OB were defined as cases with occult bleeding and those with other initial presentations, including epigastric pain, weakness, weight loss and obstruction. The 3-year overall survival(OS) rate, age, gender, AJCC T stage, AJCC N stage, overall AJCC stage, tumor size, histological type, macroscopic(Borrmann) type, lymphovascular invasion and R status were compared between patients with and without OB. Moreover, we carried out a subgroup analysis based on tumor location(upper, middle and lower).RESULTS: We identified 939 patients. Of these, 695(74.0%) were hospitalized for potential radical gastrectomy and another 244 received palliative resection, rerouting of the gastrointestinal tract, chemotherapy, radiotherapy or no treatment due to the presence of unresectable tumors. Notably, there was no significant difference in the percentage of OB patients between resectable cases and unresectable cases(20.3 % vs 22.1 %, P = 0.541). Fo l l o w- u p examination was performed on 653 patients(94%) who underwent radical gastrectomy. We found no significant difference in 3-year OS rate(68.2% vs 61.2%, P = 0.143) or clinicopathological characteristics(P > 0.05) between these patients with and without OB. Subgroup analysis based on tumor location showed that the 3-year OS rate of upper gastric cancer was significantly higher in patients with OB(84.6%) than in those without

Metal-organic frameworks with dinuclear metal centers for synergistically boosting CO2 photoreduction

Dinuclear metal synergistic catalysis （DMSC） has been proved powerful in boosting CO2reduction,while this has not been achieved in heterogeneous catalysts with long-range order *** this study,we,by introduction of metal catalytic centers into an indium-based metal-organic framework （MOF）,obtained a series of isostructural In-MOFs,including three MOFs with mononuclear metal catalytic center （M-In）,three MOFs with dinuclear homometallic catalytic centers （MM-In）,and three MOFs with dinuclear heterometallic catalytic centers (MM’-In,M/M’=Co（II）,Ni（II）,Zn（II）).It was found that all these MOFs can serve as catalysts for photochemical CO2reduction to *** with M-In,the catalytic activities of MM-In were obviously enhanced,and that of MM’-In was further significantly *** example,the CO yield of Co Zn-In reaches a record value of 12,700μmol g-1h-1,which is 4.0,8.1,9.4,and 18.6-fold higher than that of Co Co-In,Zn Zn-In,Co-In,and Zn-In,***,the catalytic activities of Co Ni-In and Ni Zn-In also show different fold increase than those of corresponding dinuclear homometallic and mononuclear metallic *** results of control experiments and theoretical calculation reveal that the higher catalytic activities of MM-In over M-In can be ascribed to the DMSC effect,and the higher catalytic activity of MM’-In over MM-In can be ascribed to the strengthened DMSC *** work reveals the relationship between DMSC effect and bimetal centers in CO2reduction,which provides new insights into the DMSC and paves a new way to design highly active catalysts for photochemical CO2reduction.

A self-adaptive inorganic in-situ separator by particle crosslinking for nonflammable lithium-ion batteries

All-safe liquid-state lithium-ion batteries(ASLS-LIBs) is of great interest as they can potentially combine the safety of all-solid-state batteries with the high performance and low manufacturing cost of traditional liquid-state LIBs. However, the practical success of ASLS-LIBs is bottlenecked by the lack of advanced separator technology that can simultaneously realize high performances in puncturing-tolerability,fire-resistance, and importantly, wetting-capability with non-flammable liquid-electrolytes. Here, we propose a concept of inorganic in-situ separator(IISS) by hybrid-sol physical crosslinking directly onto the electrode surface to address the above challenges. Particularly, the hybrid-sol is designed with silica nanoparticles as the building block and poly(vinylidene difluoride) nanoparticles as the crosslinking agent. The critical factors for controlling the IISS microstructures and properties have been systematically investigated. The advantages of the IISS have been confirmed by its fast wetting with various fireresistant liquid-electrolytes, customizable thickness and porous structures, robust interface with planar or three-dimensional(3D)-structured electrodes, and importantly, unexpected self-adaptability against puncturing. Enabled by the above merits, a fire-resistant ASLS-LIB is successfully assembled and demonstrated with stable electrochemical performance. This sol-crosslinked IISS may open an avenue for the studies on the next-generation separator technology, cell assembling, solid electrolyte processing as well as non-flammable secondary batteries.

Mesospheric tide comparisons at low latitudes observed by two collocated meteor radars

Accurate knowledge of mesospheric winds and waves is essential for studying the dynamics and climate in the mesosphere and lower thermosphere(MLT)*** this study,we conduct a comparative analysis of the mesosphere tidal results obtained from two adjacent meteor radars at low latitudes in Kunming,China,from November 2013 to December *** two radars operate at different frequencies of 37.5 MHz and 53.1 MHz,***,overall good agreement is observed between the two radars in terms of horizontal winds and tide *** results show that the dominant tidal waves of the zonal and meridional winds are diurnal and semidiurnal ***,we conduct an exhaustive statistical analysis to compare the tidal amplitudes and vertical wavelengths recorded by the dual radar systems,which reveals a high degree of alignment in tidal *** investigation includes variances and covariances of tidal amplitudes,which demonstrate remarkable consistency across measurements from both *** finding highlights clear uniformity in the mesospheric tidal patterns observed at low latitudes by the two neighboring meteor *** of the comparative analysis specifically underscore the significant correlation in vertical wavelength measurements,validating the robustness of radar observations for tidal research.

Dear Editor, Phenotypic drug discovery, which observes compound effects on physiology,has given way to targeting specific molecules, but has revived by using modern methods to find drugs based on therapeutic outcomes in disease models(Vincent et al., 2022). Osteoarthritis(OA) is a prevalent chronic joint disorder, primarily affecting knee joints, with osteoclast activation due to low-grade inflammation resulting in increased bone resorption and structural changes in the joint(Katz et al.,2021).

胃肠道是集消化、吸收、代谢、免疫、内分泌于一体的特殊的"微生物摇篮",菌群数量众多,各菌种之间互相制约,互相依存,在质和量上达成一种生态平衡。随着分子生物技术以及微生物鉴定技术的发展,胃肠道微生物研究也随之进入了一个新时期,国内外众多最新研究表明,胃肠道微生物在机体的营养物质代谢、自身发育、自身免疫、疾病产生及癌症治疗等方面都起到极其重要的作用。胃肠道菌群具有的特殊免疫活性,对宿主生理机能的影响也越来越为人们所关注。海洋鱼类种类丰富,其生活环境的多样性及特殊性,使得其胃肠道微生物较为特殊。目前我国对于鱼类的研究主要集中在淡水养殖鱼类上,对于海洋鱼类的研究较少,且此方面的研究主要集中在大黄鱼、大菱鲆等海洋经济鱼类上。近年来陆续有研究表明在海洋鱼类胃肠道中中分离到的微生物种类繁多,但以细菌居多。具有拮抗致病菌活性的菌系,作为胃肠道内的益生菌,其对宿主具有特殊的作用。文章就海洋鱼类胃肠道微生物的研究概况做简述,特别展示海洋鱼类胃肠道微生物巨大的研究价值以及利用前景。

Silicon photonics has provided a platform for the convergency of photonic devices and electronic circuits, facilitating the development of optical telecommunications and optical interconnects on chip[1]. As the basic building block of optical communication systems, electro-optic tuning is expected to be more compact, high bandwidth, energy efficient, and allow for CMOS-compatible fabrication in the future[2]. Resonator-based electro-optic tuning has attracted more and more interest due to the small footprint, enhanced light-matter interactions and high energy efficiency. Compared with microring and microdisk resonators, photonic crystal nanobeam cavities （PCNBCs） realize higher quality factors, stronger light-matter interactions, ultrasmall mode volume and a much larger free spectral range （FSR）[3].

目的评估重庆市慢性病综合防控示范区建设对居民健康相关知识认知水平与行为的影响,为推进示范区建设提供建议。方法于2016年11月至2017年2月采用分层随机抽样的方法分别在重庆市4个示范区与4个非示范区抽取18岁及以上常住居民进行健康相关知识认知与行为问卷调查。采用SPSS 19.0统计软件进行χ~2检验。结果示范区与非示范区分别调查4 000和3 997人,示范区居民全民健康生活方式行动知晓率、健康生活方式知晓率、超重肥胖危害的知晓率、高血压危险因素知晓率、糖尿病高危因素知晓率、健康成人每天食盐摄入推荐量知晓率、健康成人每天烹调用油推荐摄入量知晓率、推荐成人身体活动水平的知晓率均高于非示范区,差异均有统计学意义(P0.05)。示范区居民过去1周主动锻炼的比例、过去1周身体活动水平为充分的比例(77.45%、71.88%)均高于非示范区(67.83%、55.29%),差异均有统计学意义(P<0.01)。示范区居民过去1年有健康行为的比例(30.43%)高于非示范区(27.72%),差异有统计学意义(P<0.01)。结论慢性病综合防控示范区建设可以提高居民健康相关知识的认知水平,促进健康行为的形成,烟草控制和有害饮酒等危险因素控制将是今后示范区建设应重点关注的内容。

As a class of functional crystalline porous materials, metal-organic frameworks(MOFs) gained rapid development in the past three decades and a large number of MOFs with ordered structures, high surface areas, and functionalized channels have been investigated. MOFs and MOF-derived/composite materials show great potential in many application fields. In this review, we discussed the main applications of MOFs and MOF-derived/composite materials in small molecule storage, separation, luminescence, sensing, multitype catalysis, and energy storage. In addition, challenges and problems in the future research of MOFsrelated fields are also discussed.
