Effect of respiratory syncytial virus on the activity of matrix metalloproteinase in mice

Background Respiratory syncytial virus （RSV） is a common pathogen in the lower respiratory tract of infants and children. Recent studies have shown that in adults, especially in the eldedy population who have relatively weak immunity, lower respiratory tract infection is not uncommon. RSV was detected in 22% hospitalized patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease （COPD）, and the detection rate was only next to that of parvovirus and influenza virus respectively. Further studies revealed that lung infection of RSV could lead to inflammatory destruction and structural remodeling. This study was undertaken to examine the effect of infection with RSV on matrix metalloproteinase （MMPs） in mice, and to explore the role of RSV in the pathogenesis of pulmonary diseases. Methods Twenty BALB/c mice were divided randomly into an RSV infection group and a blank control group. The mice in the RSV infection group were given 100 pl liquid containing 10s PFU of RSV by intranasal instillation. Three days after the infection, the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid （BALF） was harvested and RT-PCR and Western blotting were used to detect MMP-9 and the expression of tissue inhibitors of matdx metalloproteinase （TIMP）-I mRNA in lung tissues. Gelatin zymography was employed to detect the activities of MMP-9 and MMP-2 in BALF. Immunohistochemistry was used to determine the expressions of E-cadherin （E-cd） and proliferating call nuclear antigen （PCNA） in the lung tissues. Results In the BALF of the mice infected with RSV, the activities of MMP-9 and MMP-2 were significantly increased （t=-6.08, P〈0.01 and t=5.68, P〈0.01）. The levels of mRNAand proteins of MMP-9 in the lung tissues of the mica infected with RSV were significantly elevated, and the mRNA and protein levels were significantly higher than those of the blank controls. Hair coloring has emerged as an integral part of the cosmetic industry,particularly in response to the increasing global aging *** natural melanin analog,polydopamine(PDA),has garnered considerable attention as an eco-friendly hair dye,and several kinds of polymerization ways of dopamine(DA)have been proposed including alkali catalysis,metal ion catalysis,strong oxidants,and enzyme-mediated oxidation reactions and *** the controllability of polymerization and potential toxicity of involved metal ions are still in *** by the photoprotective mechanism in human skin,we have developed the melanin-inspired hair dyeing strategy that allowed for the in situ oxidative polymerization of DA under ultraviolet(UV)*** polymerization was triggered by photobase generators(PBGs),a class of compounds that produced organic bases upon UV and sunlight *** resulting hair showed an adjustable color from light brown to black by tuning the ratio of DA and PBG(DA@PBG),the concentration of DA,and light exposure *** dyed hairs showed excellent washing resistance and superior anti-static ***,Hair Color Spray DA@PBG also demonstrated a desirable hair dyeing effect and excellent biosecurity by simply spraying it on the hair under *** novel sunlight-induced method provided a new direction towards the preparation of natural hair dyes and could promote the development of green and safe hair dyes in colorful and brilliant artistic-grade hair coloring.

Flotation separation of chalcopyrite from pyrite using mineral fulvic acid as selective depressant under weakly alkaline conditions

Mineral fulvic acid(MFA)was used as an eco-friendly pyrite depressant to recover chalcopyrite by flotation with the use of the butyl xanthate as a *** experiments showed that MFA produced a stronger inhibition effect on pyrite than on *** separation of chalcopyrite from pyrite was realized by introducing 150 mg/L MFA at a pulp pH of approximately *** copper grade,copper recovery,and separation efficiency were 28.03%,84.79%,and 71.66%,*** adsorption tests,zeta potential determinations,and localized electrochemical impedance spectroscopy tests showed that more MFA adsorbed on pyrite than on chalcopyrite,which weakened the subsequent interactions between pyrite and the *** force microscope imaging further confirmed the adsorption of MFA on pyrite,and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy results indicated that hydrophilic Fe-based species on the pyrite surfaces increased after exposure of pyrite to MFA,thereby decreasing the floatability of pyrite.

Worldvolume fermions as baryons in holographic quantum chromodynamics with instantons

In this study,we investigated worldvolume fermions on the flavor brane in the D0-D4/D8 model,which is holographically equivalent to four-dimensional quantum chromodynamics with instantons or equivalently with a theta *** action involving the worldvolume fermions was obtained by the T-duality rules in string theory,and we accordingly derived their effective five-dimensional and canonical four-dimensional forms by using the systematic dimensional reduction and decomposition of the ***,we used the AdS/CFT dictionary to evaluate the two-point correlation function as the spectral function for the worldvolume fermions and interpreted the fermions as baryons by analyzing their quantum number with the baryon vertex in *** this sense,the interacted action involving the worldvolume fermions and gauge field on the flavor brane was finally derived in holography,which describes the various interactions of mesons and baryons with instantons in the large-N ***,this study provides a holographic picture to describe baryons and their interactions based on string theory,particularly in the presence of instantons or a theta angle.

BACKGROUND Return to work(RTW)serves as an indication for young and middle-aged colorectal cancer(CRC)survivors to resume their normal social ***,these survivors encounter significant challenges during their RTW ***,scientific research is necessary to explore the barriers and facilitating factors of returning to work for young and middle-aged CRC *** To examine the current RTW status among young and middle-aged CRC survivors and to analyze the impact of RTW self-efficacy(RTW-SE),fear of progression(FoP),eHealth literacy(eHL),family resilience(FR),and financial toxicity(FT)on their RTW *** A cross-sectional investigation was adopted in this *** September 2022 to February 2023,a total of 209 participants were recruited through a convenience sampling method from the gastrointestinal surgery department of a class A tertiary hospital in *** investigation utilized a general information questionnaire alongside scales assessing RTW-SE,FoP,eHL,FR,and *** analyze the factors that influence RTW outcomes among young and middle-aged CRC survivors,Cox regression modeling and Kaplan-Meier survival analysis were *** A total of 43.54%of the participants successfully returned to work,with an average RTW time of 100 *** regression univariate analysis revealed that RTW-SE,FoP,eHL,FR,and FT were significantly different between the non-RTW and RTW groups(P<0.05).Furthermore,Cox regression multivariate analysis identified per capita family monthly income,job type,RTW-SE,and FR as independent influencing factors for RTW(P<0.05).CONCLUSION The RTW rate requires further *** levels of RTW-SE and FR were found to significantly increase RTW among young and middle-aged CRC *** professionals should focus on modifiable factors,such as RTW-SE and FR,to design targeted RTW support programs,thereby facilitating their timely reintegration into mainstream society.

Negative Correlation of Serum Hepatitis B Surface Antigen and Hepatitis B e Antigen Levels with the Severity of Liver Inflammation in Treatment-naive Patients with Chronic Hepatitis B Virus Infection

Background： Estimating the grades of liver inflammation is critical in the determination ofantiviral therapy in patients chronically infected with hepatitis B virus （HBV）. The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation ofserum levels of hepatitis B surface antigen （HBsAg） and hepatitis B e antigen （HBeAg） with the liver inflammation grades in treatment-naTve patients with chronic HBV infection. Methods： We retrospectively enrolled 584 treatment-na＇l＇ve HBeAg-positive patients who underwent liver biopsy in Ditan Hospital from January 2008 to January 2016. Based on the severity of liver inflammation, the patients were divided into minimal, mild, and moderate groups. SPSS software was used lbr statistical analysis of all relevant data. Results： The liver histological examinations showed that 324, 194, and 66 patients had minimal, mild, and moderate liver inflammation, respectively. The median age of the three groups was 30, 33, and 38 years, respectively （X2 =26.00, P 〈 0.001 ）. The median HBsAg levels in minimal, mild, and moderate inflammation groups were 4.40, 4.16, and 3.67 log U/ml, respectively, and the median HBeAg levels in the three groups were 3.12, 2.99, and 1.86 log sample/cutoff. respectively; both antigens tended to decrease as the grade of inflammation increased （X2 = 99.68 and X2 =99.23, respectively; both P 〈 0.001 ）. The cutoff values of receiver operating characteristic curve in the age, HBsAg and HBeAg levels were 36 years, 4.31 log U/ml, and 2.86 Iog S/CO, respectively, 1 to distinguish minimal grade and other grades of treatment-naTve HBeAg-positive patients with chronic HBV infection. Conclusions： Serum HBsAg and HBeAg quantitation might gradually decrease with aggravated liver inflammation and the corresponding cutoff values rnight help us to distinguish rninimal grades and other grades and detect those who do not need antiviral therapy in treatment-naive HBeAg-positive patients with chronic HBV infection.

Broomcorn millet cultivation in the SW East European Plain since the second millennium BC

Zhongfeng Xingnao Liquid ameliorates post-stroke cognitive impairment through sirtuin1(SIRT1)/nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2)/heme oxygenase 1(HO-1) pathway

The activation of the sirtuin1(SIRT1)/nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(Nrf2)/heme oxygenase 1(HO-1) pathway has been shown to mitigate oxidative stress-induced apoptosis and mitochondrial damage by reducing reactive oxygen species(ROS) levels. Clinical trials have demonstrated that Zhongfeng Xingnao Liquid(ZFXN) ameliorates post-stroke cognitive impairment(PSCI). However, the underlying mechanism, particularly whether it involves protecting mitochondria and inhibiting apoptosis through the SIRT1/Nrf2/HO-1 pathway, remains unclear. This study employed an oxygen-glucose deprivation(OGD) cell model using SHSY5Y cells and induced PSCI in rats through modified bilateral carotid artery ligation(2VO).The effects of ZFXN on learning and memory, neuroprotective activity, mitochondrial function, oxidative stress, and the SIRT1/Nrf2/HO-1 pathway were evaluated both in vivo and in vitro. Results indicated that ZFXN significantly increased the B-cell lymphoma 2(Bcl2)/Bcl2-associated X(Bax) ratio, reduced terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-mediated d UTP nickend-labeling(TUNEL)+ cells, and markedly improved cognition, synaptic plasticity, and neuronal function in the hippocampus and cortex. Furthermore, ZFXN exhibited potent antioxidant activity, evidenced by decreased ROS and malondialdehyde(MDA) content and increased superoxide dismutase(SOD), catalase(CAT), and glutathione(GSH) levels. ZFXN also demonstrated considerable enhancement of mitochondrial membrane potential(MMP), Tom 20 fluorescence intensity, adenosine triphosphate(ATP) and energy charge(EC) levels, and mitochondrial complex Ⅰ and Ⅲ activity, thereby inhibiting mitochondrial damage. Additionally,ZFXN significantly increased SIRT1 activity and elevated SIRT1, nuclear Nrf2, and HO-1 ***, these effects were substantially counteracted when SIRT1 was suppressed by the inhibitor EX-527 in vitro.
