Background Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)infection has been spreading rapidly around the world,while“multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children”(MIS-C)is a new type of syndrome that has now been reported in many *** and different characteristics between KD and MIS-C have been reported in a variety of *** aimed to focus on reviewing clinical presentations,diagnosis,and treatment of KD and *** We searched articles in the electronic databases,including the Cochrane Library database,EMBASE,and MEDLINE with the keywords“multiple inflammatory syndrome”and/or“COVID-19”and/or“Kawasaki disease”and“children”.Results Main presentations of MIS-C and KD include fever,rashes,mucous membrane involvement,conjunctivitis,hands and feet erythema/edema,and cervical ***,compared with the highest incidence of KD among some Asian countries,MIS-C is common among Black and Hispanic ***-C is common in older children and teenagers,whereas classic KD is common in children under five years of *** symptoms,shock,and coagulopathy are common in MIS-C patients but are not common in classic *** manifestations are more common than KD,including myocarditis with cardiac dysfunction and coronary artery dilation or *** cases in MIS-C present with vasodilated or cardiogenic shock that requires fluid resuscitation,muscular support,and even mechanical ventilation and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation(ECMO),whereas KD rarely presents with these manifestations and requires these *** serum ferritin,leukopenia,lymphopenia and thrombocytopenia are common in ***,thrombocytosis is a characteristic feature of *** immunoglobulin(IVIG)and moderate-high dose aspirin are still a standard recommended treatment for *** addition to the above-mentioned medications,steroids and biological drugs are frequently used in patients with *** of the chil

Inter-phase selective corrosion of γ-TiAl alloy in molten salt environment at high temperature

Hot corrosion behavior of Ti-48Al-2Cr-2Nb alloy in molten salt environment of 75%Na2SO4and 25%NaCl(mass fraction) at 800℃was studied using oxidation kinetics analysis,scanning electron microscopy,X-ray energy dispersive and X-ray diffraction *** inter-phase selective corrosion,which caused the corrosion pits initiated from lamellar interfaces and the preferential corrosion ofα2phases,was observed during the hot corrosion of the *** common controls of thermodynamic and kinetics in corrosion reactions with fluxing and active oxidation process were considered the essential hot corrosion mechanisms of the ***,lamellar refinement was proved to be an effective way to mitigate the inter-phase selective corrosion of the alloy in molten salts.

Direct aminolysis of selenoester in aqueous media was investigated as a glycopeptide ligation *** strategy allows the peptide and glycopeptide ligation to proceed smoothly(even with hindered amino acids) without the need of cysteine residue, N-terminal thiol auxiliary or coupling additive, and to afford the corresponding amide products in excellent yields. No epimerization was observed during ligation reations. In this work, the selenoester of unprotected glycopeptide was readily prepared, and the direct aminolysis of glycopeptide selenoester was successfully applied to synthesize MUC1 mucin sequence efficiently.

A Toolkit of CRISPR-Based Genome Editing Systems in Drosophila

The last couple of years have witnessed an explosion in development of CRISPR-based genome editing technologies in cell lines as well as in model organisms. In this review, we focus on the applications of this popular system in Drosophila. We discuss the effectiveness of the CRISPR/Cas9 systems in terms of delivery, mutagenesis detection, parameters affecting efficiency, and off-target issues, with an emphasis on how to apply this powerful tool to characterize gene functions.

Molecular Epidemiological Analysis of Echovirus 19 Isolated From an Outbreak Associated With Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) in Shandong Province of China

To elucidate the genetic characterization and molecular epidemiological features of Echovirus 19 （El9） isolates collected from an outbreak associated with hand, foot and mouth disease （HFMD） in Tai＇an city of Shandong Province of China from July to September, 2003. Methods Thirty seven Echovirus 19 isolates were isolated from stool specimens and throat swabs collected during the outbreak, then major capsid （VP1） genomic sequence was determined, and phylogenetic tree was done based on the VP1 sequences among these 37 and other El9 viruses deposited in the Genbank. Also a representative strain named CHN-SD03-TN12 was selected for sequencing of 5′-untranslated regions （5′-UTR）. Results The identity rate was about 98.9%-100% among all these 37 El9 viruses. The genetic relationships between these 37 El9 isolates and other strains reported were also depicted. The identity rate was about 78.4%-78.9% compared with El9 reference strain Burke. The substitutions in the sequence of 5′-UTR resulted in changes in the conjectural properties of 5′-UTR of El9 viruses. Condusion The genetic features of El9 viruses isolated during the outbreak in Shandong Province in 2003 may be associated with a genetic and antigenic drift that changes the virulence of the Shandong isolates, but the molecular changes in Shandong El9 viruses contributing to their phenotype remain to be further illuminated. However, the sequences described in this paper substantiate the changes taken place in capsid VPI and 5′UTR regions. These substitutions may contribute to their tropism and virulence, and play a significant role in pathogenesis and clinical manifestations of the disease.

COMPARISON OF SHORT- AND LONG-TERM OUTCOMES BETWEEN CYPHER AND TAxuS DRUG-ELUTING STENTS FOR IN-STENT RESTENOSIS

Objective To compare the short- and long-term clinical outcomes between sirolimus-eluting stent （ Cypher stent） and paclitaxel-eluting stent （TAxuS stent） in patients with in-stent restenosis （ISR） lesions of the coronary arteries. Methods From December 2002 to March 2005, 253 patients with ISR lesions of the coronary arteries were selected and divided into two groups. Cypher group （152 cases） was treated with Cypher or Cypher Select stents, and TAxuS group （101 cases） with TAxuS stents. A total of 262 ISR lesions in these patients were treated with 308 drog-eluring stents （DESs）, including 176 Cypher or Cypher Select stents and 132 TAxuS stents. All patients were followed up for 10 months. Procedure success rates of DES implantation in both groups were observed. Major adverse cardiac events （MACE） rates in hospital and at 10 months follow-up, as well as in-DES restenosis observed using coronary angiography at follow-up were compared between two groups. Results Success rate of DES implantation was 100% in both groups. No significant difference in MACE rate during hospitalization was found between the two groups. However, at 10 months follow-up, MACE rate was higher in TAxuS group than in Cypher group （ 16.00% vs. 6.67%, P =0. 031 ）. As for coronary angiography at 10 months follow-up, we observed an increasing tendency of in-DES restenosis rate in TAxuS group compared with Cypher group （29.41% vs. 14.04%, P=0.075）. Conclusions Cypher and TAxuS DESs both have good short- and long-term outcomes in treating ISR. Cypher DES proved better long-term clinical outcome than TAxuS DES.

To detect the presence of endothelial injury in patients with severe acute respiratory syndrome （SARS） via enhanced levels of tissue-type plasminogen activator （t-PA） and soluble thrombomodulin （sTM）. Methods Case patients were from xuanwu Hospital （Capital University of Medical Sciences, Beijing, China）, and all of them met clinical criteria for SARS. Healthy controls were some of the hospital employees. Endothelial injury bio-markers tPA and sTM were detected by commercial ELISA-methods. Results Classic plasma markers of endothelial injury, tPA and sTM significantly elevated in SARS patients in comparison to controls [t-PA： 1.48±0.16 nmol/L versus 0.25±0.03 nmol/L （P〈0.0001）, and sTM： 0.26±0.06 nmol/L versus 0.14±0.02 nmol/L （P〈0.05）]. The only patient who died had extremely high levels of these endothelial injury markers （t-PA： 2.77 nmol/L and sTM： 1.01 nmol/L）. The likelihood ratio analysis indicated the excellent discriminating power for SARS at the optimal cut-point of 0.49 nmol/L for tPA and 0.20 nmol/L for sTM, respectively. Significant numerical correlations were found among these endothelial injury markers in SARS patients. The numerical coefficient of correlation Pearson r between t-PA and sTM was 0.5867 （P〈0.05）. Conclusion Increased plasma concentrations of tPA and sTM in patients with SARS suggest the possibility of endothelial injury. SARS patients might need anticoagulant therapy or fibrinolytic therapy in order to reverse intraalveolar coagulation, microthrombi formation, alveolar and interstitial fibrin deposition. It may not only provide a useful treatment and prognostic index but also allow a further understanding of the pathological condition of the disease.
