Following the current rapid development of the Internet of Things(IoT)and wireless condition monitoring systems,energy harvesters which use ambient energy have become a key part of achieving an energy-autonomous system.Miniature wind energy harvesters have attracted widespread attention because of their great potential of power density as well as the rich availability of wind energy in many possible areas of application.This article provides readers with a glimpse into the state-of-the-art of miniature wind energy harvesters.The crucial factors for them to achieve high working efficiency under lower operational wind speed excitation are analyzed.Various potential energy coupling mechanisms are discussed in detail.Design approaches for broadening operational wind-speed-range given a variety of energy coupling mechanisms are also presented,as observed in the literature.Performance enhancement mechanisms including hydrodynamic configuration optimization,and non-linear vibration pick-up structure are reviewed.Conclusions are drawn and the outlook for each coupling mechanisms is presented.

Recent advancement of proton exchange membrane fuel cells has led to commercial sales of fuel-cell cars but market barrier exists because this technology heavily relies on platinum catalyst.Given the permission of adopting platinum-group-metal-free catalysts,anion-exchange membrane fuel cell has received notable attention.However,the sluggish kinetics of anodic hydrogen oxidation reaction(HOR)largely limit the cell efficiency.Although many high-performance HOR catalysts have been reported,there are analytical uncertainties in the literature concerning the assessment of the catalyst activity.Here we determine the origin of false HOR currents in the recorded polarization curves and propose a rigorous approach to eliminate them.We unveil experimentally the uncertainties of obtaining exchange current densities(j0)using Tafel plot from Bulter–Volmer equation and recommend employing the micro-polarization region method.For bulky catalysts that cannot establish a well-defined diffusion layer,we suggest applying external stirring bar to offer certain level of enforced convection and using j0 to compare the activity.

OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effects of the wenshen Jianpi recipe(温肾健脾方,WJR)on immune reconstruction and natural killer(NK)cells in immunological non-responders(INRs)of people living with human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)(PLWH)and propose new therapeutic strategies for HIV.METHODS:Based on Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment principle“invigorating Qi and warming Yang in the spleen and kidneys”,WJR combined with antiretroviral therapy(ART)therapy was performed in a randomized,double-blind,placebo-controlled study of 60 patients with non-responders.The randomized process was executed by the Clinical Evaluation Center of China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences.Sixty patients who met the inclusion criteria obtained random numbers(that is the drug number)was randomly divided into a treatment group and a placebo control group according to a 1∶1 ratio.CD4+T cell counts and natural killer(NK)cells counts were evaluated at baseline and 12-week,24-week follow-ups.RESULTS:Four participants received random numbers and did not enter the group due to the patient’s own reasons.A total of 56 patients were enrolled,including 28 in the treatment group and 28 in the control group.CD4+T cell counts in the treatment group were significantly increased at week 24(P=0.01<0.05),which were significantly higher than those in the control group(P=0.01<0.05).Although no significant differences were observed between two groups,the CD56bri CD16-NK cell counts in the treatment group were significantly increased after duration.and CD56dim CD16+NK cell counts in the treatment group were significantly higher than those in the control group after 24 weeks of treatment(P=0.025<0.05).As compared with the control group,the treatment group had significantly lower CD56neg CD16+NK cell counts after 24 weeks of treatment(P=0.023<0.05).CONCLUSIONS:WJR promotes the immune reconstruction of INRs and redistribution of NK cell subsets,notably decreasing CD56neg CD16+NK cell counts in INRs.However,the redistribution of NK cell subsets is not beneficial for imm

Covalent organic frameworks(COFs),as a novel class of functional polymers,exhibit versatile applica-tions due to their crystalline porous structures and conjugated skeletons.However,synthesis of COFs with high crystallinity still faces great challenges,especially for scale-up preparation.Herein we report a two-step solvothermal process to improve crystallinity of COFs.The first step focuses on polycondensa-tion of monomers with no need for optimizing crystallization conditions.In the second step,appropriate solvothermal conditions are used to facilitate crystallization of the COFs through defects correction and structural repairing.Furthermore,this strategy could also be applicable to scale-up synthesis of high qual-ity COFs,which lays a foundation for their practical applications.

To the Editor： Sulfur dioxide （SO2） is one of the main air pollutants, which is formed when sulfur-containing fuel is burned In some special situation, people may be exposed to high concentration of SO,, such as an accident of SO2 tank leakage, mine blast, smoke of gunpowder in a war, and smoke of volcanic eruption, which may be harmful to the persons who are exposed to it. Many studies have indicated that SO, exposure increases morbidity and mortality. SO, can not only produce a variety of adverse pulmonary effects, such as bronchitis and airway hyperresponsiveness but also have harmful effects on other systems and organs. It is associated with increased risk of acute myocardial infarction, and inhalation of SO, can cause injury in brain including stroke. The expressions of oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes in lung and liver of rat were affected by exposure to SO2 and benzo（a）pyrene. The expressions of apoptosis-related genes can be augmented and the apoptosis of the cells was induced in liver, lung, and brain of rats exposed to SO2.

White matter hyperintensities（WMHs） that arise with age and/or atherosclerosis constitute a heterogeneous disorder in the white matter of the brain. However, the relationship between age-related risk factors and the prevalence of WMHs is still obscure. More clinical data is needed to confirm the relationship between age and the prevalence of WMHs. We collected 836 patients, who were treated in the Renmin Hospital, Hubei University of Medicine, China from January 2015 to February 2016, for a case-controlled retrospective analysis. According to T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging results, all patients were divided into a WMHs group（n = 333） and a non-WMHs group（n = 503）. The WMHs group contained 159 males and 174 females. The prevalence of WMHs increased with age and was associated with age-related risk factors, such as cardiovascular diseases, smoking, drinking, diabetes, hypertension and history of cerebral infarction. There was no significant difference in sex, education level, hyperlipidemia and hyperhomocysteinemia among the different age ranges. These findings confirm that age is an independent risk factor for the prevalence and severity of WMHs. The age-related risk factors enhance the occurrence of WMHs.

Neonicotinoids, such as imidacloprid, are key insecticides extensively used for control of Nilaparvata lugens. However, imidacloprid resistance has been reported in many Asian countries in recent years. To understand the roles of the chlorine atom of pyridyl group on insecticidal activity and resistance, the atom was removed to generate an imidacloprid analogue DC-Imi （DesChlorine Imidacloprid）. DC-Imi showed significantly higher toxicity than imidacloprid in the susceptible strain of N. lugens, but had medium level cross-resistance in an imidacloprid-resistant strain. In Xenopus oocyte expressed nico- tinic acetylcholine receptors （nAChRs） Nlu 1/r/32, the inward currents evoked by DC-Imi were detected and could be blocked by typical nAChRs antagonist dihydro-β-erythroidine （DHβE）, which demonstrated that DC-Imi acted as an agonist on insect nAChRs. The efficacy of DC-Imi on Nlα 1/rβ2 was 1.8-fold higher than that ofimidacloprid. In addition, the influence of an imidacloprid resistance associated mutation （Y 151 S） on agonist potencies was evaluated. Compared with the wild-type receptor, the mutation reduced maximal inward current of DC-Imi to 55.6% and increased half maximal effective concentration （EC50） to 3.53-fold. Compared with imidacloprid （increasing EC50 to 2.38-fold of wild- type receptor）, Y151 S mutation decreased DC-Imi potency more significantly. The results indicated that the selective and possibly high toxicities could be achieved through the modification of 6-chloro-3-pyridyl group in imidacloprid and other neonicotinoids.

BACKGROUND Indwelling colon is characterized by an excluded segment of the colon after surgical diversion of the fecal stream with colostomy so that contents are unable to pass through this part of the colon.We report a rare case of purulent colonic necrosis that occurred 7 years after surgical colonic exclusion.CASE SUMMARY A 73-year-old male had undergone extended radical resection for rectosigmoid cancer.The invaded ileocecal area and sigmoid colon were removed during the procedure,and the ileum was anastomosed side-to-side with the rectum.The excluded ascending,transverse,and descending colon were sealed at both ends and left in the abdomen.After 7 years,the patient developed persistent abdominal pain and distension.Work-up indicated intestinal obstruction.The patient underwent ultrasound-guided catheter drainage of the descending colon and a large amount of viscous liquid was drained,but the symptoms persisted;therefore,surgery was planned.Intraoperatively,extensive adhesions were found in the abdominal cavity,and the small intestine and the indwelling colon were widely dilated.The dilated colon was 56 cm long,5 cm wide(diameter),and contained about 1500 mL of viscous liquid.The indwelling colon was surgically removed and its histopathological examination revealed colonic congestion and necrosis with hyperplasia of granulation tissue.The bacterial culture of the secretions was negative.The patient recovered after the operation.CONCLUSION Although colonic exclusion is routinely performed,this report aimed to increase awareness regarding the possible long-term complications of indwelling colon.

本研究成功开发了一种具有泵送控释特性的新型肠靶向θ型胶囊,用于疏水性药物的可控释放。该胶囊由海藻酸钙-壳聚糖/鱼精蛋白/二氧化硅(ACPSi)复合壳和呈θ形状的两个腔室组成(θ-ACPSi),两个腔室分别封装有药物和助推剂。肠溶性羟丙甲纤维素酞酸醋(HPMCP)微球嵌入到药室的外壳中。θ-ACPSi的外壳在胃部环境中为所封装的药物提供了更好的保护,而在肠道中表现出出色的肠靶向药物释放特性。以吲哚美辛为模型药物、聚丙烯酸(PAA)为助推剂,药室壳层“微通道”的打开和助推室中PAA的溶胀均有助于提高高浓度吲哚美辛的释放速率,保证了吲哚美辛在小肠部位具有恒定的释放速率。在胃中(pH=2.5),只有不到1%的吲哚美辛被释放。然而,当θ-ACPSi胶囊进入小肠(pH=6.8)时,药室外壳中的HPMCP微球因溶解而打开“微通道”,而PAA溶胀以提供泵送动力。结果,超过60%的吲哚美辛在小肠中以恒定速度释放。所制备的θ-ACPSi胶囊为开发响应型泵送控释系统和肠靶向药物递送系统提供了一种潜在的新型模式。
